Apperance: Curtis is, in general, a scrawny-looking teenager. He has slightly tanned skin. He has a short messy mop of black hair and brown eyes. At almost all times, he can be seen wearing his signature Ninetailes-styled fursuit. The "head" of the suit is a hood with Ninetails-like ears attached to it rather than being a full helmet. The suit was made for the road and so is tough enough to withstand whatever trouble a Pokemon Trainer can (and will) get into. He also wears a white backpack to store what items he has that don't fit in his pockets. Under the fursuit, he is generally wearing white shorts and a white tank top. He does not own any other regular clothes save for a red-and-white swimsuit completely with red goggles.

Personality: Curtis is young, cheerful, friendly, and has high hopes for his future. He is by default, kind to those he runs into and tries to bring out the best in everyone.

Starter Pokemon: Annahime the Vulpix, Female (Egg Move: Energy Ball)

Background: Curtis Renard, 14 years old, comes from a long family of trainers and professors who specialize in canine and vulpine Pokemon (though them having the occasional feline or draconic Pokemon around is not unheard of). After all, it takes coming from a special kind of family to get a road-worthy Pokemaniac fursuit styled after a Ninetails custom made for you as a birthday present- much less to have your parents actively encouraging you to dress up in it if it makes you happy.

Anyhow, as you may have guessed Curtis is something of a... fanatic when it comes to vulpine Pokemon. He loves their fluffiness and the mystery and mysticism that surrounds them. They also can be very silly, affectionate, amazingly clever, and even loyal at times (though just don't expect them to be obedient unless they've been trained very well).

He has two main goals currently: number one is to follow in his family's footsteps and to amass as many different canine and vulpine (or just plain fluffy) Pokemon as possible. (He's not completely averse to having Pokemon on his team that don't fit his family's specialties because, well, after all, you have to make do with what you've got sometimes.) His number two goal is to make a successful career out of Pokemon battling to make his family proud and to support himself (so he doesn't have to drop out of being a Pokemon trainer and get a boring job somewhere).

When Curtis started his adventures, a particularly prissy and spoiled Vulpix was the best one available when he went to pick up a starter from his cousin's place. After all, nothing but the best for a member of the family! Nevermind that this particular Vulpix was being mean to the others, bossing them around, starting to grow lazy, and kept breaking into where the Pokemon treats were stored... yes, only the best and totally not getting rid of a problem child.

The part about this Pokemon being the best of the bunch is no lie however, Annahime does have a lot of potential in her... it's just going to take a lot of work (particularly working off all those treats she gobbled up) to bring it out.

Interestingly enough Annahime is the result of a long line of purebred breeding within the Vulpix/Ninetails line going back at least 5 generations. For some childish reason, initially she thought she was better than other Pokemon due to her purebred heritage- though adventuring and travelling with Curtis had gotten most of that out of her. She still has a dislike for strange looking Pokemon though.

She considers herself to be the "top dog" in Curtis's Pokemon team and will snap at any other Pokemon within the team who directly challenge her position as Curtis's favorite Pokemon.

During a visit to the Adoption Center, Curtis noticed this Skitty caterwauling as if the world was ending. When inquiring as to why, he found out that the Skitty's playmate had just been recently adopted by another trainer, leaving this one all alone (and begging for attention). Unable to say no to the repeated desperate cries of this Skitty, Curtis ended coming back to adopt him only a few days later and named him Toby.

Once in his care, Toby quickly transformed from being a lonely kitty in need of cuddles to being a gremlin, always getting into trouble and pouncing others in an attempt to get them to play with him. However if he's feeling particularly ignored or lonely, Toby will put on a show of being desperately lonely once more- but it's all just a bait so he can play with you more. Though occasionally, he does have his cuddly moments sometimes when he gets sleepy, just be prepared for him to suddenly attempt to play with you when he wakes up from his nap.

When Curtis brought home a Nickit named Finnegan, Toby instantly bonded to them and now the two are inseparable. They do everything together, including getting into heaps of trouble. Finnegan, now a Thievul, seems to be the mastermind behind their exploits while Toby just plays whatever role he needs to- usually one that involves distracting other people and Pokemon while Finnegan steals something.

When Finnegan was brought home as a Nickit, freshly hatched from an egg one of Curtis's relatives had sent him for his birthday, Toby (still a Skitty then) instantly latched on to the little guy. Ever since, Finnegan and his "brother" have been basically inseparable- always playing, eating, sleeping, and getting into way too much trouble together.

At this point, no one's sure which one is a worse influence on the other- especially considering that Finnegan certainly seems to have more of a mean streak than Toby does. Even though the fox Pokemon is the younger one, he seems to be the one always instigating the trouble the two get into and Toby is just happy to be along for the ride and plays whatever part he needs to so Finnegan can pull whatever stunt he wants off. Such as when Toby feigned having hurt his paw to distract Curtis while Finnegan went through and gobbled up nearly all of his Trainer's Rare Candy stash. Curtis since then keeps his Rare Candies in a container that is (hopefully) much more resistant to naughty pokemon.

The son of Annahime the Vulpix and a Pignite lended by another Trainer. Jin, thanks to the magic of incense, came out as an ice-typed Alolan Vulpix- much different from his mother a fire-typed Kantoian Vulpix. Also, unlike his mother he is calm and collected compared to how she goes about bossing her way through life and going out of her way to get what she wants.

So far, Jin has spent most of his days just simply enjoying being around everyone. Especially his mom, but also alternating between hanging out with and playing with various members of Curtis's team. He does get nervous however whenever Curtis or Annahime leave... leading to him furiously seeking out the company of whatever members of Curtis's team have been left behind as well. So far he has also bonded well with his "brother" who was born at same time, Mika, and enjoys playing with him (as long as he don't get too hyper about it).

The son of Finnegan the Thievul and a Mightyena lended by another trainer. Mika is named in honor of one of Curtis's aunt's old Mightyenas- a joyful old dog full of boundless energy and an insatiable love for life, even when old age eventually claimed her. This Pooch is well on the way to learning similar values, given by how his father (and his "uncle" Toby the Delcatty) spare every possible moment they have playing with him and trying to get the dog involved in their playful shenanigans. Mika has also been spending a lot of time with his "brother" who was born at the same time, Jin, and enjoys playing with him and cuddling with him.

After an encouter with a spooky well wherein Curtis threw a bunch of random stuff into it, Mika was left hairless and his skin turned completely black. He doesn't seem to mind though, especially since it gives him an excuse to wear cute sweaters wherever he goes.

Received in a trade, Curtis was somehow able to get his hands on this rare Alolan Pokemon when others passed up on this fiery kitten (probably due to the bidding wars going on). Once he had the newly named Sasha in his care, he was surprised to find that she didn't really care to interact much with his other Pokemon or even her new Trainer. She simply avoid the other, instead preferring to find a spot somewhere in the house and sleep there all day. Even when Curtis would bring out the Poketoys or a laser pointer, she would steadfastly ignore them as if the act of playing was beneath her. If they other Pokemon played too closely to her or tried to get her involved, she would ignore them as hard as possible- only resorting to biting and hissing if they started getting rough with her or tried to force her to move out of her chosen spot for the day.

Seeing how poorly Sasha was adapting to her new living situation (and knowing what she would eventually one day evolve into) Curtis was resolved to get her a friend (and future sparring partner). Soon after, a Riolu named Alexander was brought into the team with the hopes of having her and the pup become best friends and lifelong sparring partners.

Sasha, for the most part, has adapted to the new circumstances of a strangely incredibly serious bipedal puppy demanding that it's her best friend the same way she tackles everything else: by doing her best to ignore it. She'll never admit that she's started to get used and enjoy the daily game of hide-and-seek they have inadvertently started to play together: she'll hide somewhere sneaky and he'll do his best to bring her favorite mouse toy back to her.

During a camping trip up in the mountains, Curtis was cooking some sort of nut and beef curry for his team. The smell of which attracted an Absol. He got a bowl and very carefully lured the rare Pokemon out of the brush surrounding the camp so he could get a good look at it. To his dismay, it looked like the poor creature hadn't been getting enough to eat! After it gobbled up the first serving of food Curtis had given it, he gave it another and another all the while luring it closer and closer until Toby was able to put it to sleep with Sing. From there it was a simple matter of catching it in a Pokeball and trekking back down the mountain with his new friend.

At first when the young Absol came too inside Curtis's house, he was very confused to find himself awakening in the middle of a cuddle pile. Though when Curtis came in to check on them, the sound of the door opening surprised the Absol- causing him to bolt and, in his rush to find somewhere to hide, ending up getting stuck under the couch. Over the next few days, this pattern repeated itself in various ways with the young Absol, not at all used to domesticated life, getting spooked at various household noises and at Curtis or the other Pokemon simply moving around the house. Eventually he did get more used to living in a house with a bunch of other rowdy Pokemon, but he still gets surprised by things fairly easy. Due to this behaviour of being 'spooked' by nearly everything over the first few days, Curtis has named the Absol "Spooky". Though Curtis has found the Absol yowling at him and desparately trying to get his attention before something goes wrong in the house- such as one time when Finnegan and Toby were trying to figure out how the stove worked or when Jin had gotten himself trapped in the fridge. It seems that the main 'disasters' Spooky is preventing are the ones caused by the various shenanigans that the other Pokemon in Curtis's team get up to.

A Riolu gifted to Curtis by a family friend and hand delivered by his mom during a visit. Curtis intended for the newly named Alexander to become friends and sparring partners with another new member of the team- the female Litten named Sasha. What no one was expecting however was how seriously this little pup took everything: training, meal times, play, and the assertion that the standoffish cat was definitely going to be his new best friend. Despite the Litten's best attempts to appear completely uninterested in being the Riolu's friends, Alexander still doggedly seeks out to spend time with the cat who wants nothing to do with him. Curtis himself isn't sure why Alexander insists on following through with a half-baked idea that no one is sure will work and has tried repeatedly to get the Riolu to do something that's not bugging Sasha for attention.

To Alexander himself, he isn't sure if he and the Litten will actually achieve friendship- but he's determined to make that Litten at least acknowledge his presence as a worthy rival and to get them to acknowledge there's more to life than hiding away in a corner all day! Though at least, Alexander can say that dealing with the Litten is probably making for good training- especially trying to find her new hiding spot each day so he can throw a mouse toy at her.

Benny is always chasing after what's most interesting to him in the moment, notably making it difficult for Curtis to get through an entire group training session without the Buizel wandering off. Benny's actions come off as erratic and nonsensical, though he's just got interests that change on the fly and is intensely curious about new things and/or how people will react to him doing something. Unfortunately for Curtis, this has led the otter/weasel to teaming up with the other troublemakers on the team for increased shenanigans.

Coming in Curtis's team to be greeted with the sight of so many other Pokemon running amok and causing trouble for each other was something that this Houndour couldn't quite stand. Some sort herding instinct deep within the pup awoke and now Helena keeps her days busy with helping Spooky the Absol keep an eye on the other members of the team and keeping the peace. Though as the older and more evovled members of the team don't respect her at all, she can only help the other young and unevovled members of the team play nice with eachother. Helena often finds herself breaking up spats between the other pups of the team and, interestingly enough, this often involves distracted them with new activity or toy everyone can enjoy together- the tug-o-war rope is a particular favorite of hers since it's easy to get the more hyperactive members of the team to play with her using it.

When out and about though, Helena's herding insticts really kick in and she takes it upon herself to make sure that no one wanders off- even her Trainer.

This particularly prissy and spoiled Vulpix was the best one available when Curtis went to pick up a starter from his cousin's place. After all, nothing but the best for a member of the family! Nevermind that this particular Vulpix was being mean to the others, bossing them around, starting to grow lazy, and kept breaking into where the Pokemon treats were stored. The part about this 'mon being the best of the bunch is no lie however, Annahime does have a lot of potential in her... it's just going to take a lot of work (particularly working off all those treats she gobbled up) to bring it out.

Interestingly enough Annahime is the result of a long line of purebred breeding within the Vulpix/Ninetails line going back at least 5 generations. For some childish reason, initially she thought she was better than other Pokemon due to her purebred heritage- though adventuring and travelling with Curtis had gotten most of that out of her. She still has a dislike for strange looking Pokemon though.

She considers herself to be the "top dog" in Curtis's Pokemon team and will snap at any other Pokemon within the team who challenge her position as Curtis's favorite Pokemon.
