Snorlax Easter Event: The Isle of Always Winter

The Isle of Always Winter

Almost two years had passed since trainers last celebrated on Springtide Isle. Many a disappointed trainer had arrived at the Isle last year, hoping to once again find gifts left by everyone's favourite Springtime Pyukumuku. However they arrived to find nothing, no eggs, no presents and no sign of the Easter Bunny of the Sea. They knew nought of the calamity that had happened during their absence, nor of the effort the Springtime Pyukumuku had been putting into righting this wrong.

Skip forward a year later and the Springtime Pyukumuku has almost achieved its goal. Far to the south of the Springtide Isle lies the Isle of Always Winter, home to the Snorlax King. The small island is trapped in an almost permanent winter, making it impossible for food to grow here. Instead the Snorlax King survives by sending its minions out to ravage nearby islands. It was them that had stripped the Springtide Isle clean and now the Springtime Pyukumuku had arrived to take back what was taken. It couldn't do this alone however, it needed the help of trainers of Fizzytopia, so it sent out a call to all trainers able to lend assistance.

Mini-Siege Event
It is up to the trainers of Fizzytopia to aid the Springtime Pyukumuku in laying siege to the lair of the Snorlax King. The trainers will need to split into two teams if they are to have any hope of successfully recovering what was taken. Everyone may take part in the event, selecting one of the teams in their reply and detailing their orders to either distract the Snorlax King's army or recover the stolen goods. This will be a one reply, one update event with siege taking place on Easter (FB Time). Those unable to participate will be able to claim a reward after the event, however those who participate in the event will receive additional rewards.

The Distraction Team

With the Snorlax King and his armies standing between the Springtime Pyukumuku and its stolen horde of eggs and presents, a distraction is needed to keep the bulk of its forces busy while the Retrieval Team sneak behind enemy lines. The Snorlax King's two lieutenants, a Totem Weavile and an Totem Alolan Raticate, command an army of Sneasel and Alolan Rattata. With such a large force, moves that can hit multiple Pokemon would be beneficial for taking out the weaker forces, while the powerful Weavile and Raticate may require some stronger hits to overwhelm. Trainers may use up to 2 Pokemon and a total of 4 moves in their reply. (please reply in MediumTurquoise)

The Retrieval Team

While the Distraction Team keeps the Snorlax King's army occupied, it is up to the Retrieval Team to sneak past the sentries and retrieve the eggs and presents. A murder of watchful Murkrow keep an eye on the Snorlax's horde and they will need to be incapacitated stealthily to ensure they don't sound the alarm. Pokemon that are stealthy are more likely to succeed here, while it may be beneficial to use Pokemon capable of carrying large loads. Trainers may use up to 2 Pokemon and 4 moves in their reply. (please reply in PaleTurquoise)

All replies must be submitted before Friday 19/04 11:59pm (FB Time). $250 can't be claimed for the reply and bond can not be claimed. Rewards may be claimed after the event update is posted, some time on Sunday 21/04 (FB Time).

Springtide Isle- two years ago, the place was packed with Trainers, all eagerly searching for the Egg that would hatch into the newest addition to their teams. It was then and there that Keith met a very specially colored Mareanie whom he took onto his team quite eagerly. But the island's beauty and mystique was not destined to last- the place was picked clean by the minions of the Snorlax King, ruler of the Isle of Always Winter, which... was aptly named, to say the least. A frigid wasteland incapable of supporting even the vaguest vestige of vegetation, the residents made do by stealing what they could from nearby islands.

But the Springtime Pyukumuku was not about to take any of this lying down. The mysterious pickle had arrived to the island, and through its own mysterious means, summoned the help of other Trainers. And like a Venomoth to a flame, the Trainers were drawn in, all ready, willing, and able to lend a helping hand.

Among those Trainers, as one could reasonably guess, was Keith Masters. In a most impressive sight, the man could be seen flying in on the back of a Charizard, scanning the frosty landscape below until he could spot the place where the battle was just beginning to unfold. "Down there, Charlie!" he stated. The Charizard gave an affirmative roar before beginning his descent.

Once on the ground, Keith and Charlie exchanged nods. "Charlie, clear the way!" said Keith. "Blast 'em with Heat Wave!" Charlie roared loudly, wings spread wide as he prepared to bombard the Sneasel and Alolan Rattata with a scorching gale.

That, of course, was not the bulk of Keith's plan. No, Charlie was merely helping to pave the way for him and the others to take on the real target- the Totem Pokémon. In particular, Keith intended to go at the apparent head honcho of the Snorlax King's forces, Totem Weavile. Now, there are those who would most definitely question the wisdom of what Keith was about to do, but Keith was confident that any such questioning would not last long at all as he threw his chosen Poké Ball. "Let's go, Hermione!" he exclaimed as his Weedle materialized in a flash of light. At twice the usual size of her kind, and a facial expression that reflected her decidedly vast experience in training and battling, Keith was sure no other Weedle could appear nearly as formidable as Hermione. "Hermione, Hone Claws, go!" Keith ordered. "And follow up with Rock Smash- aim for the Weavile!"

"Weeeedle!" Hermione responded. Of course, Weedle didn't have claws in the traditional sense, but Keith and Hermione found that the Weedle's clawlike tail stinger tended to suffice for the usage of claw-related moves such as this.

And that wasn't the end of it. Rock Smash, even with such a major type advantage and a boosted Attack stat backing it, was not about to one-hit KO the Totem Weavile. This was where Keith went for the big guns, hopefully capitalizing on a decreased Defense in the process.

"Here we go!" Keith declared, moving his arms, the Poisonium Z set into his Z-Ring gleaming brightly. "Get ready, Hermione!"

"Weeeeeeedle!" responded Hermione.

"Our minds, our spirits, linked as one!" Keith exclaimed as he moved. "A power as intense as the Plague Swamp of Cascadia! Feel the poison- BE the poison!"

"Weeedle..." Hermione was saying. She felt it- the Z-Power flowing into her larger-than-average yet still relatively small body. She felt it powering her up. Taking her Gunk Shot move and elevating it to bold new levels of power.

"Strike a blow for the Springtime Pyukumuku, Hermione!" Keith declared. "Use Acid Downpour!!!"

Code:

Hermione surrounded itself with its Z-Power!

Hermione unleashes its full-force Z-Move!

...

Acid Downpour

The high seas of Fizzytopia ran underneath the bow of The Pearl at a speed Mint had scarcely tried before, as she aimed the craft for the Isle of Always Winter, a determined expression on the faces of both the boat's driver and her companion Chatot and Lombre. Springtide Isle was in distress, and Mint would not even think of sitting idly by when the happy memories of springtime were so close to hand. She hadn't even been here the last time the Island had been so bountiful and joyful, if only to have a chance to see the place for herself in all its glory, she wanted to help restore it.

As Mint docked the craft at an admittedly somewhat rickety pier, the chill of the air was already setting in, snow visible not too far up the shore. Trainers were to split into two teams, one to distract the Snorlax King's powerful armies, and one to extract everything the inhabitants of this dread isle had stolen. Mint has already made her choice. The Totem Weavile and Alolan Raticate that needed thrashing were a perfect opportunity for two of her teammates to stretch their legs and show their true, unrestrained capabilities.

As Mint forged further onwards on the island, having withdrawn her seafaring companions for their dislike of the cold, she quickly caught sight of the one and only Keith Masters astride a Charizard - good choice - ordering his...Weedle? Eh, the man had a reputation, either he knew full well what he was up to or he just wanted to style on 'em. Both could have also been an option. But Mint, for her part, wasn't here to play around.

Mint drew two Poke Balls, one Luxury and one standard. She first threw the standard Ball, a Hitmontop appearing in the resultant flash of light.

"Pastinha, we're joining the fight over there! I want you to get at that swarm of Alolan Rattata, use your Triple Kick to work your way through the swarm up to that Raticate boss, then let him have your strongest Close Combat attack! Got it?" Mint explained. Pastinha simply nodded. "Wait for just a moment." she added, as she released her Gallade from its Luxury Ball.

"Heimdall, here's the plan. While Pastinha handles the Rattata and such, I want you going at the Sneasel. Work yourself up with your Fury Cutter to take down as many of those grunts as you can. When you've got the Weavile in front of you, pummel it with your own Close Combat, alright?" Mint asked.

I understand. On your mark? came Heimdall's reply, and that was all the confirmation Mint needed.

"You have your orders. Show them what you're made of!" Mint urges. Both Pokémon nodded and ran to join the fray.

Who knew the Easter Bunny was actually a Pyukumuku and not a Bunnelby?

Yamato shivered as the Isle of Always Winter came into view. He tried his best to look unfazed, casually glancing at the other Trainers who had boarded the ship with him to see if they seemed to be as bothered by the temperature as he was. The last thing he wanted was to show signs of weakness before his very first mission on Fizzytopian soil...

Howl, however, made no effort to conceal his obvious discomfort. The Growlithe was the most honest, transparent creature Yamato ever had the pleasure of knowing. Perhaps he ought to be more like his guardian spirit, sincere and unconcerned about what others thought of him. It felt oddly embarrassing to think that his Growlithe could somehow be more mature than him...

"How are you holding up Hush?"

The Zorua stood a few feet away from Yamato and Howl, absent-mindedly peering over the side of the ship, eyes fixated on the rippling waves created by the vessel's movements rather than the ominous island that grew ever closer. If the cold bothered Hush in any way, the mute fox's expression gave nothing away. Hush was, as always, profoundly absorbed in his own thoughts.

I wish I could get through to you, I really do... Yuzou, how could you do this to him?!

His hand instinctively rolled into a fist as he remembered his estranged older brother, but as if sensing his growing frustration, Howl barked to snap him back to reality. Yamato shook his head, thankful for the reminder to stay focused, and shortly afterwards the ship reached shore.

Yamato looked on as each Trainer disembarked and immediately went to work, plans and strategies formed well in advance and ready to be executed. They had come here with a purpose, to defy and defeat the Snorlax King... but what was he supposed to do?

I doubt I'm strong enough to oppose a regular Snorlax, let alone one called a "King". I'd probably struggle against a simple Munchlax, to be perfectly honest... But we gotta start somewhere. And I think I know how I can help, if only a little.

He dropped to one knee, calling both Howl and Hush to his side.

"Howl, you'll sit this one out. Don't give me that look, there's no way you can fight at your best in this weather. Hush... We'll be counting on you instead, okay?"

Howl glared at his perceived rival, jealous that it would be the fox to shine. Hush, however, merely nodded in almost robotic fashion, obedient to a fault but emotionally shattered as he was.

"Remember what those Trainers were saying? There's supposed to be a flock of Murkrow guarding what we're after. Your job is to draw their attention so that others can swoop in and steal back what Snorlax took."

Hush tilted his head slightly, displaying a hint of curiosity. It was an improvement, Yamato thought to himself with a hidden smile.

"Your Illusion can probably fool a number of them. Murkrow like sparkling things - my guess is, if you can convince them you're a Klefki, especially a Shiny one, and Taunt them, they might come after you and drop their guard. Let's hope someone else can take that opportunity to move in!"

Immediately, without a hint of hesitation, Hush nodded again and walked away from his Trainer without looking back once. Yamato knew the Zorua would do anything he asked, but his complete disregard for his own safety, as well as his emotional detachment, made the youngster from Azalea feel somewhat guilty each time he asked Hush to do anything for him.

Still... Howl and Hush are all I have, and they're not strong enough to fight most threats head-on. We're only just starting out; it's my obligation to keep myself humble and the two of them safe. Trying to battle would just cause them unnecessary injuries, or worse... and I'm not the same as my brother!

Hugo had missed the famed Easter event several years ago while he was frozen in the ice, and truth be told, he was more than a little jealous of those that had participated. Not only did it have spectacular prizes, but it wasn’t too often that the residents of Fizzytopia actually got together and share some quality time. So when he had gotten word of the challenge at the Isle of Always Winter, he jumped at the opportunity faster than you could say “why is a sea cucumber the fizzy symbol for Easter? I mean really, it doesn’t seem to add up.” Significantly faster than you could say that.

As usual though, Hugo launched himself into things without much foresight. Not having calculated the distance to the Isle, he rented a row boat which he found himself vigorously paddling against the current as the shoreline came into view. He was near the brink of collapse from exhaustion and wasn’t receiving any help from Bisharp, who sat across from him in the tiny boat, a look of disdain across his face. Hugo had captured his Pokemon in the Power Plant of New Fizz City as a semi-murderous Pawniard and he had since evolved into a fully murderous Bisharp. Nevertheless, the two shared a strong mutual respect for each other and Hugo knew Bisharp had the right combination of leadership and combat skills to make him a strong asset for this type of mission.

The boat finally drifted to the shore and Bisharp promptly exited, leaving Hugo to tie it to the dock. “No, please don’t let me inconvenience you. You’ve worked so hard.” Hugo knew Bisharp wasn’t even listening, so he was mostly complaining for the sake of complaining.

“Alright, so like I was saying before, we’re going to go straight for recovering the loot. There’s apparently a whol--…hey wait, where is Yamask?”

Hugo looked around and saw no sign of his Spirit Pokemon. He looked to the left, then to the right, then to the left again where he was suddenly inches away from Yamask’s spectral face and eerie glaring red eye. Hugo jumped back several feet in terror. But that’s why he chose Yamask for this mission – his stealth.

“How many times do I have to ask you NOT to do that? Are you trying to kill me?”

Yamask glared at Hugo.

“Wait, are you actually trying to kill me?”

He turned to Bisharp.

“Is he actually trying to kill me?”

Bisharp shrugged and smirked. Yamask let out a playful giggle which sounded more like the shrieks of a thousand tortured souls.

“...anyway, you’re both going to be part of the recovery team and you’re going to need to deal with a group of Murkrow who are on guard. Yamask, I want you to throw down a layer of Toxic Spikes and then retreat to the shadows. Fire off a Shock Wave and try to pick them off. Bisharp, I want you to surprise them and throw them off guard with Night Slash and then cut them down with Metal Claw.”

After a few moments to ponder the orders, Bisharp gave his trainer a curt, firm nod and promptly turned on his heel, leading Yamask and marching toward the mission.

Drake hadn't been around the last time the Springtime Puykymuku came around, but he had indeed heard about what had happened last time and was determined to not miss out the next time it came around.

But like the rest of the trainers heard, a call to arms was needed, for the Springtime Isle was captured and taken over by the Snorlax King and his minions.

Drake thought what better for him to do than do what he had done back in his home world, infiltrate and retrieve cargo.

Drake decided to take Wolfe and Luna, his arcanine and lunatone.
His partner served as the fighting force, but because of his big size, he can easily carry lots of eggs. Luna, on the other hand, was actually the main carrier of the eggs, for she could lift everyone (eggs included) out of the fighting and not drop anyone or thing with her psychic powers.

Drake left his pokemon inside their balls until he got close enough to the Murkrow sentries, then silently opened up Wolfe's ball, the giant legend needing no command to strike.

Gathering his focus into a Laser presicion and then struck the nearest Murkrow with a Head of Iron making sure it was knocked out before getting up off of it.

Drake nodded and motioned with his head for the two of them to continue in deeper.

The two slipped past fighting groups of trainers distracting the main force and even saw his friend Keith Masters in the fights, but now was not the time to do or say anything than the job at hand.

Liawe had thought the cold spell was over after that last winter kerfuffle. Alas, as she stood in the frozen hellhole of Always Winter, Liawe wished she had a warmer jacket. She wished she'd brought Summer to help keep her warm through this, but Summer was back with the others, probably sleeping by the fire. In the meantime, she'd get by with whoever she'd grabbed in the panicked rush. She flipped her hood up in an attempt to ward off the cold, but instead got a somewhat unwelcome surprise, as unbeknownst to her Calem and Tantei were sleeping there, the hood being a comfortable place for their nap. Calem crawled onto his Trainer's shoulder, remembering fondly his antics the last time the weather was this cold, whereas the Dedenne dropped to the floor and tested the snow, being unfamiliar with the surroundings. After an ill-fated attempt to eat snow, he swiftly scrambled back to Liawe, who picked him up and carried him to the rally point.

Once there, Liawe readied up to prepare to fight. Stealth wasn't her squad's strong suit, so she joined the main attack force, before noticing Tantei's nerves and remembering his somewhat lacklustre movepool. Swearing under her breath, she rummaged in her backpack and pulled out a disc she'd gotten somewhere, probably a trade at one point. Glancing at the name tage to make sure it was the correct one, she activated the mechanisms and hoped it worked. Sure enough, the disc disintegrated and the Dedenne glowed with a new power. Curious, Tantei looked around to see what had changed, before sneezing and unleashing a calamitous Thunderbolt. "Well, I'm glad that worked... Now, to battle!"

Tantei and Calem stepped up, the snow partially burying the diminutive figures as they marched to aid the other Pokemon. Tantei was the first to move, firing a Thunderbolt through the crowd to strike at the colossal Weavile, while Calem slipped nearer and fired a Flamethrower at the Ice type, his fire undimmed by the respite. Following that, Calem returned to more natural techniques, with a String Shot to pin the creature's sharp claws together and hopefully stop some counterattack, while Tantei's focus switched to the colossal Raticate dominating the other side of the battlefield. Dashing over (well, as well as a Dedenne can in snow), he lunged with a Super Fang to sink his teeth into the dark-furred rodent. There can be only one.

(Sidelist point: Using TM Thunderbolt on Tantei the Dedenne)

This place was cold and desolate. It wasn't the warm, sunny islands the man was use to. It was a place that seemed trapped in winter, like the peak of Mount Lanakila. Something about the snow and ice was comforting in small doses, but not this place. This place was frozen over. It wasn't the type of winter he liked or wanted, it felt more like a hell. Just being here made him want to go back to the tropics. He really just wanted to go back and leave.

But he couldn't. The Springtime Pyukumuku needed help. Most of his fellow Skull Grunts just messed with the Pyukumuku that made their way to Po Town. Sure, it was at least always raining to keep them moist, but he was the only one to keep them fed and taken back to the sea. Leo sighed, he had to do this. Sure, it was a distraction from baking cute food or tracking down cute boys, but as an Alolan he just couldn't leave a Pyukumuku to suffer. He felt his pride was at stake.

He decided to go onto the front lines, primarily because stealth was never his strong point. Well, battling wasn't either, but he felt he was better at it than sneaking around. He was super clumsy all the time, and would constantly knock things over when he wasn't in the kitchen. Wasn't the best for stealth. It was fine, he knew he'd be useful at the very least.

Looking at the two hordes in front of him, the boy just watched as some of the more experienced trainers started their onslaught. It was certainly a sight to behold, but it started giving him ideas. Was a bit weird a Snorlax would be using a bunch of dark types in this icy environment. The Sneasel made sense but everything else? Not so much. He smirk came across his face as he tossed two Pokeballs up into the air.

Custard, his Togetic, floated down next to him with a gleeful smile. The other was his cotton fluff ball of a Swirlix Cott. He had a good plan in mind already.

"Hey Cott, you see those two groups? I want you to fire a Dazzling Gleam into each of them!" He ordered and the Swirlix gives him a bark back as it makes its way into the battlefield.

He then turns to his Togetic.

"Alright, let's start with a Nasty Plot, okay?" Leo asks with a mischievous smile. Custard respond with one in kind, thinking of some dastardly plans to fight the horde.

"And now that's done, it's time to have some fun!" Leo shouts, flashing his Z-Ring to his Togetic. The Pokemon lets out a gleeful laugh, ready to unleash hell.

"So we're going to aim at that Raticate with this, okay? Cool, let's power up your Dazzling Gleam into a powerful Twinkle Tackle!" Leo shouts as he starts to channel his power into the Z-Ring. A large blow would certainly help out. "This is our resolve!"

"You know," Melissa mused to her starter as she trudged through wind and snow. "I keep ending up in snowy places. I mean, I know I have a lot of Fire types, but that doesn't mean I want to end up somewhere cold."

She huffed as she reached a fork in the road, one branch leading to where the Distraction Team was distracting the Snorlax King's forces, the other to the horde and its watchers. She'd already seen a few familiar faces go down each path--Keith, for one, and another that she hadn't seen in a...very long while, along with some of the usual group of trainers who always turned up for these things. Pulling her jacket closer around herself and Wildfire, Melissa turned toward the horde and barely took a couple of steps before Ore burst out of his Pokéball chittering at her.

"I know, I know." She rolled her eyes and sent Signal out for backup. "Where else would you go, given the choice."

Ore ran on ahead as they continued on, Signal shivering some in the chill.

"Apparently the treasure horde's protected by Murkrow," Melissa told her Chinchou, who looked up at her while blinking 'acknowledgement.' "So, I think Soaking them and then hitting them with Shock Waves might be a good idea." She glanced up at the sky in thought. "Not that we'll know what everyone else will order until we get there, but probably not a bad idea to start with.

"For Ore..." She looked down the road to see if she could spot her Sableye, but didn't see him. "Well, I think he could use Shadow Sneak to sneak up on individual Murkrow and then hit them with Power Gem." She paused, thinking. "Assuming he doesn't get caught in other Pokémon's attacks. Or yours." She looked at Signal. "What do you think?"

Signal shrugged then nodded, lures blinking 'acceptance' as they spotted the backs of a few other trainers doing the sneaky thing too. An excited chitter from her other side told her Ore was willing to go along with things, so long as they got some treasure.

"Alright. Whenever you're ready," she murmured and watched them head into the fight.

Isaac stood in his cabin, staring at the letter in disbelief.

"What the hell is the Springtime Pyukumuku?" He asked, glancing at Vinny. The Leafeon was sprawled out on the counter, basking in the sunlight. She gave the best shrug that her species could muster and rolled over, facing away from her master. Isaac stood, mouth curved in a distinct upward curve, trying to showcase his confusion. As he continued to stare at the letter, Morgana came walking in. His two daughters in tow. Despite Jean's recent evolution, the muscular cat was still much taller than his daughter. Meanwhile his feline-like daughter stood on all fours walking behind the much taller Pokemon.

"Hey Mona, do you know what the Springtime Pyukumuku is?" Isaac asked, looking at the tall feline. He was from Alola after all, perhaps he would know better than the Sinnoh native. Morgana's eyes suddenly lit up, clearly knowing exactly what Isaac was talking about. "Really?" The Unovan man asked, leaning on his counter in his ripped black jeans and green plaid shirt. Morgana nodded vigorously, making large gestures with his arms to try and convey his tale to Isaac.

"Eggs and... the Springtime Pyukumuku..?" Isaac mused, trying to understand what Morgana was saying.

'Dad says that he hatched from an egg that was given by the Springtime Pyukumuku.' Ahri's high, bubbly telepathic voice rang in Isaac's mind. Isaac nodded at the Espeon, stroking his chin.

"Thanks Ahri," Isaac began, looking at the smaller than average Espeon. "Well, I got a letter talking about some sort of trouble. The Pyukumuku," Isaac was getting awfully tired of trying to pronounce that word. "Some evil King ravished the island or something. He was looking for trainers to help him regain control." Isaac put his hand on his hip and looked back at the letter, not noticing the clear flame that had begun to glow in Morgana's eyes. "Well I guess we should go help th-" Isaac's words were quickly cut off by the large cat picking him up and tossing him over his shoulder.

"H-hey! Morgana!" He called out, startled by the sudden scooping. "Geez, your bedside manner is awful! At least buy a guy dinner first!" He chuckled, Morgana simply let out a low purr, scooping up Ahri under his other arm and kicking the door down. Ahri used her psychic powers to drag Isaac's winter jacket towards the trio. Vinny turned her head quickly hearing the poor slam onto the Earth below.

'Safe... travels..?' She murmured in Pokemon speak, noticing everyone was already gone.

~~~
Isaac pulled his coat around himself upon arriving on the Isle of Always Winter. He couldn't believe that another call to aid had to take place in a goddamn frozen wasteland. Why couldn't they ever like... help out at the beach or something? He shivered at the thought of warm sands and surf. Ahri padded through the snow, leaving small footprints in her wake. Morgana trudged through closely behind his small daughter, taking great effort to not step on her.
"So we're going to be part of the Retrieval Team... or at least that's what that guy on the boat said we should do." He glanced at Morgana. How the crew thought he could be a being of stealth was beyond him... but he knew that Ahri was suited for this job.
"Ahri," He started, looking at the horde of Murkrow and then back at his Espeon. "Start off with a Calm Mind to power yourself up and then Dazzling Gleam to try and take some of those pesky birds out" He commanded. Ahri gave a small nod, already Calming her mind. Isaac turned his attention to Morgana.
"Mona, once Ahri is done with her Dazzling Gleam I want you to Roar to try and scare off any stragglers. If any get too close don't be afraid to Throat Chop them!" Morgana smirked, ready to show off for the other trainers. He nodded to his daughter and the two stepped forward, ready to set their plan in motion.
"Oh geez, g-glad I brought something w-warm..."
The teen was huddled in a thick jacket, on advice from a wiser peer who had brought this incident to his attention. Said peer couldn't go, of course, said something about "liquefaction around the spire" or some hoohah, and was busy seeing to that, hence the reason Rory was at the aptly named Isle of Always Winter instead. The cold weather was something he was certainly not used to, having grown up in warmer climes, but at the very least it also meant that there was no chance of any belly wrigglers either. He shuddered, both out of cold and genuine fear.
As it was, there were a few others here with the same purpose: to engage in a good old fashioned heist. While others ran interference elsewhere, he had opted to go for the actual grabbing things, and furrowed his brow at the prospect of Murkrow. Of course the buggy boy would stand against birds, why not? Nevertheless Rory was one prepared for this, and had two pokemon available to pull it off. Hiding behind a large rock, his eyes peered round to the tiny insect and the far from tiny scorpion. At the very least he was more than grateful for Lesath's presence, the Drapion would provide some much needed muscle to grab as much of the stolen goods as possible. Bylii on the other hand was young yet surprisingly mature, and if the chill was bothering the Cutiefly he certainly wasn't showing it. Heck, the fairy type seemed excitable and raring to go.
"Okay, here's the thing. Bylii, you're quick and small, and easily good at distracting. Use your size and speed to keep the Murkrow busy and pull them away from their watch, and pelt them with moonblasts. Should they take the bait, head across the cave and dart back with a quick baton pass. Lesath, girl, you're on scooping duty. Get in, grab what you can with thief and get back here. Should any of the birds get aggressive, rear up and give them a scary face to make them back the heck up. Wait for my signal, you two..."
Olive skin didn't fit in this chilly atmosphere...why couldn't the Snorlax King have lived on the Isle of Nice Summers instead? At least then he'd have an excuse to strip down out of these heavy clothes...though if he heard right, a bunch of Ekans lived on that one.
...never mind, Always Winter was not so bad after all. He'd have to send that Alex guy a postcard.
"Brr... Sure hope we're going the right direction."
Jess murmured as she bundled herself tighter within warmth, wrapping her jacket tightly around herself. The weather was so severe she had even begrudgingly decided to wear a red scarf as an additional layer - which she was somewhat thankful for now as she drew it high up to her cheekbones, in order to protect her sensitive skin from the raging winter winds as they soared through the air, waging war against the elements to battle towards their destination - trail ends of crimson cloth whipping behind her like a cape.
Her steed gave a trill of reassurement as he steered steady and true through the storm, and she smiled as she patted his sturdy back, trusting in his sense of navigation through the frosted goggles shielding his own vision. Beside her flapped another feathered friend, who himself wasn't a bit bothered by the cold due to the adaptive flubber of his body - but still struggled somewhat to keep up with his vestigial wings by comparison. Being at home in the frigid North made him better at finding it though, so he beat his flippers furiously in an effort to beat his distant fae-blooded brethren (despite it not being a competition, which Jess had stressed repeatedly before taking off).
As the island's gray silhouette emerged through the overwhelming white, the Delibird trumpeted in triumph at being the first to spot it, and strained so hard to reach the target first that he tilted into a dive-bomb, unable to slow his descent in time to avoid faceplanting straight into a snowbank. Jess sighed as her Togekiss alighted gently on the shore beside, bowing with grace to allow his trainer to carefully disembark. He cooed as she stroked his side in thanks, before walking over and grasping onto the other's clumsily flailing feet, pulling him out of the puffiness with an unceremonial squawk.
"All right, mister, you proved your point." She rolled her eyes as she dusted powder off his indignant coat. "Now let's focus on the task at hand."
She quickly convened with the rest of the cavalry who had been sent to aid the rescue mission, before splitting up into two teams. She was to be part of the "Retrieval" - although the added responsibility of directly entering the "lion's den" to assist in transporting such delicate delicacies detainees to safety made her nervous, she was determined to do her best to save as many young innocent (yet-to-be) lives as she could from a gruesome fate (and not drop or eat any either, she glared at Custard pointedly, as the penguin wiped his beak and whistled innocently).
Thus while the group in charge of "Distraction" lured the majority of the Snorlax King's forces outside the cave, the rest of them snuck their way past enemy lines to retrieve the precious stolen treasure. However, the hoard was still heavily guarded by a flock of Murkrow sentries, perched at all access points providing perfect vantage of their prey, from where they kept a watchful eye on the prisoners, prepared to sound the alarm at the moment anyone approached. The deathly pests clearly needed to be dealt with first.
From the corner of her eye, Jess caught Custard reaching into his bag for a little "gift" to give the guards, and swiftly hurried to halt him.
"No, it's too dangerous," she hissed, raising a finger to her lips. "We're supposed to be stealthy, remember? Besides, didn't I tell you to leave the explode-y ones at home? We need room to carry the eggs after all."
The penguin pouted, but indeed his sack was looking a little sad and empty. Again, he licked his chops in anticipation at filling it with more yummy "goodies", earning him another glare from the girl.
"This isn't a buffet, you know." She muttered with a groan, before turning to Hermesiel, praying he would take the situation more seriously. The angelic airplane also gave a reproachful look of disgust at his partner, who stuck his tongue out when the other's back was turned at such "goody-two-shoes" behavior.
"All right, enough you two. Let's figure out a plan." She whispered wearily, rubbing her brow. "Hermes, I want you to use your SWEET SCENT to calm the Murkrow. Shower them with SWEET KISSes as well to confuse them further."
The jet jotted down the instructions to memory, humming in approval at the idea of winning their enemies with "love" instead of "violence". (Meanwhile, Custard gagged silently in the background at the pacifist strategy.)
"As for you, Custard..." she continued in a quiet, but firm "no-nonsense" tone. "You're going to use your QUICK ATTACK to dart in there and grab as many of the eggs as you can. If any Murkrow gets in your way try to FAKE it OUT. You got that?"
The penguin still seemed slightly put off by the lack of "fireworks" involved in this proposal, but nevertheless nodded in agreement.
"And no eating any of the eggs," she reminded sternly once more, for good measure.
Ah, to be back in the snow. Alice Hope was internally screaming over it, but it was a journey that had to be made. If not for the gift of the Spring Pyukumuku, Nina the Alolan Vulpix wouldn't have joined the team, and they might not have had Dutchess the Furfrou or other companions either. They might not be alive, even, and so how could they ignore the call for help and go on with their lives? They couldn't, and besides, missions like these always gave them something worth their time. She couldn't help it, her selfish side loved reward.
Countless experiences had proven that stealth wasn't the idol's strong point, so brute force it was. They knew how to distract, and with intel that Totem Weavile and Raticate had armies to keep occupied, Alice had chosen that route instead. She had confidence that the rest of the company could do their part. Plenty had been at the Snowdown, so she knew the Island's fate had more good hands than just her own – and thank Arceus for that, really. Genuinely.
“Alright, the sooner we kick arse, the faster we can get out of here.” Alice said to Blaze and Samantha. The former was a powerful Combusken, the other a bratty and tough looking Snubbull. One was more comfortable with the cold than the other, that was for sure. Alice was all wrapped up, at least: hats, gloves, scarf and multiple layers in her typical cute style. She was still shivering a bit and curled up in her hidey spot.
“Blaze, use Sunny Day and then use Flare Blitz on that Weavile! Brace yourself, though, you know that recoil can be rough.” Alice advised, her tone still hushed, and the Pokemon nodded in acknowledgement. “Sammi, rush that Raticate and use Super Fang, then call on everyone else to Play Rough!” She knew that her team would be overjoyed to tear into the guard. Alice had brought the tougher members of her squad like Millie and Masaru who were known battlers and could handle the terrain. Now, if the other trainers' Pokemon would want to play rough, too? That Raticate was f I n I s h e d.
“All ready?” Alice asked, putting a manicured hand forward. Soon a paw and set of claws were gently resting upon it. “Three, two, one... Let's go!”
Mini-Siege Event
It is up to the trainers of Fizzytopia to aid the Springtime Pyukumuku in laying siege to the lair of the Snorlax King. The trainers will need to split into two teams if they are to have any hope of successfully recovering what was taken. Everyone may take part in the event, selecting one of the teams in their reply and detailing their orders to either distract the Snorlax King's army or recover the stolen goods. This will be a one reply, one update event with siege taking place on Easter (FB Time). Those unable to participate will be able to claim a reward after the event, however those who participate in the event will receive additional rewards.
The Distraction Team
With the Snorlax King and his armies standing between the Springtime Pyukumuku and its stolen horde of eggs and presents, a distraction is needed to keep the bulk of its forces busy while the Retrieval Team sneak behind enemy lines. The Snorlax King's two lieutenants, a Totem Weavile and an Totem Alolan Raticate, command an army of Sneasel and Alolan Rattata. Xander was glad he stopped home and grabbed some cold weather gear, this place was frigid! Why would anything want to live here? As Charizard descended through the clouds, he could see numerous other trainers making their way towards the cave's entrance, powerful Pokemon in tow. As the Fire type touched down, Cyndaquil uncurled itself, the smaller Fire starter had been keeping him warm during the flight. The trio made their way into the cave, being sure to keep to the cover as he inspected their enemy alongside the other trainers. A horde of Sneasel and Alolan Rattata, overseen by two powerful looking Totem Pokemon. They needed to keep the army busy while a contingent of trainers worked to retrieve the goods that had been taken from the Springtide Isle.
Xander's Mega Gauntlet began to glow as he activated the stone it held, connecting it with the Charizardite X held by his Charizard. A ball of blue flame consumes the Fire type, who undergoes a series of aggressive changes. As the fire bursts, the Mega Charizard reveals itself, black as the night's sky with bright blue flames rippling from its maw. Charizard let out a bellow, warning those around it of the power it now possessed. Cyndaquil didn't waver, it was intent to hold its own. In the past it may have shied away at a time like this, but it had grown a lot since joining Xander.
"Alright Cyndaquil, use Flame Wheel to push your way through the Sneasel and strike the Weavile!" Cyndaquil coated itself in flame and began to wheel forward, down the steady slope towards the army of waiting Sneasel. As he began to speed forward however, he felt a surge of power consume him. The Flame Wheel grows larger as the Cyndaquil does, glowing brightly as its body elongates. Xander watches in amazement as Cyndaquil evolves into a Quilava! "Awesome work Cynda..... Quilava!" Xander shouted, "Charizard push Quilava through the Sneasel army with a powerful Heat Wave!" The attack wouldn't just hit a large portion of the Sneasel, it would help Quilava break the line and activate his Flash Fire ability in the process. Once the Quilava reached the Totem Weavile it would jump in and land a powerful Double Kick, while Charizard would make use of its increased strength and land a Tough Claws boosted Flare Blitz.
Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava!
While the Distraction Team keeps the Snorlax King's army occupied, it is up to the Retrieval Team to sneak past the sentries and retrieve the eggs and presents. A murder of watchful Murkrow keep an eye on the Snorlax's horde and they will need to be incapacitated stealthily to ensure they don't sound the alarm. Pokemon that are stealthy are more likely to succeed here, while it may be beneficial to use Pokemon capable of carrying large loads. Trainers may use up to 2 Pokemon and 4 moves in their reply. Being part of the Retrieval Team meant Hyrem needed Pokemon that could sneak in and out as well as have the strength to carry out whatever treasures were inside in addition to being able to knock down the Murkrow guards should they get spotted. Who better to do that than a pair of big cats like Selina and Luke? The two padded silently along with their trainer, both of them eyeing the feathered sentries as potential snacks if the opportunity presented itself. Meanwhile, Hyrem's Pokedex, switched to silent mode, quietly scanned the new species of Pokemon that were not yet registered in the device, meaning certain Pokemon that were accompanying the other trainers in the team, some of which he was looking to acquire for himself one day.
But, for now, his thoughts were on the task at hand--or paw, if you look at it from the Liepard and Luxray's perspectives--and there were some very good reasons why he chose the Pokemon he did. For Selina, she has been an expert at stealing her entire life, and that combined with her lithe physique and stealthy profile made her a perfect candidate for this line of work. As for Luke, he had a similar amount of stealth to him, but he had the power to cause a Murkrow to instantly drop to the ground where his jaws could reach and finish it off. There was no telling, however, if some of the other Pokemon would do things that would be more disruptive, so Hyrem needed Luke to perform crowd control duty if necessary. With that in mind, he gave orders to his two cats as follows:
"Okay Selina, it's time to do what you do best: look for a Murkrow that could be holding one of the items we're all looking for and focus on that one. First, Fake Out to stun it, then Covet to grab the item and make a run for it. Luke, your job is to wait for Selina to get clean, then you jump in and finish that one off with Thunder Fang; then, if a whole group of Murkrow shows up, use Discharge to down as many of them as possible so we can make our escape." The two Pokemon nodded before crouching down low to sneak up as close to one of the guards as possible, waiting for the signal to pounce on their prey...
New Pokedex entries:
Spoiler: show
Growlithe, the Puppy Pokemon, and the pre-evolved form of Arcanine. Growlithe's sense of smell is so great that it can pick up a scent and always remember it, and it can even discern emotions of other people and Pokemon. It is also very loyal to its trainer and its home, considering both their territory. It can follow a trainer's orders very well, but it is very protective; should something or someone else get too close, it may act on its own, barking and biting the intruder to drive them away, even if the opponent may be bigger and stronger than it. Its most common rival in the Alola region is Rockruff, where both Pokemon compete for territory, although it is Growlithe that is more known to live among humans, even during times when prehistoric Pokemon ruled the earth.
Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokemon. Zorua tend to be very skittish and prefer to take the form of other Pokemon or small children. They have the power to fool their foes by turning into the foes' exact likeness, then making their escape while their opponent is taken aback. This Pokemon is very rarely in its true form unless it is in the presence of those it trusts. Usually, however, they tend not to speak while they are disguised, and that can potentially hint to trainers that they are dealing with this Pokemon.
Yamask, the Spirit Pokemon. Yamask are born from people that were buried long ago, and they remember everything about their past life. The mask each Yamask carries resembles the face of their former selves, and the memories reside in these masks, causing them to lament and mourn each time they look at their mask.
Lunatone, the Meteorite Pokemon. First discovered 40 years ago near a meteorite, this Pokemon is said to be a species from space. They tend to be more active when the moon is out, particularly the full moon, when they are at their peak strength. They float around in the air, causing fear and awe in those who look directly at their red eyes. After the full moon recedes, Lunatone lose their power and health until they become less and less active and finally still during the new moon.
Drapion, the Ogre Scorpion Pokemon, and the evolved form of Skorupi. Drapion's powerful arms have the strength to crush cars, and its claws are usually plenty to subdue most of its prey. However, it sometimes likes to use its venom to watch its victim succumb to the toxins in its body. Protected by a tough carapace, this Pokemon is also difficult to take down, and it can turn its head around so it can even see what may be coming from behind.
Cutiefly, the Bee Fly Pokemon. Cutiefly tend to live near fields of flowers, where nectar is plentiful. They also have the power to read aura which allows them to tell what flowers have the freshest nectar and see just how they can play tricks on people and Pokemon the best. They commonly compete with Butterfree and other similar Bug Pokemon over these flowers so they can get the best flowers to feed from.
Big's thoughts didn't go back to the last Springtime event that had gathered trainers like this. He hadn't been there for that one. Instead, he remembers the last time he contributed to a cause like this during the Snowdown. He had barely been able to hold his own, with only a few Pokemon at his side and Hotstuff still a Charmander (at least at the start). But this time he felt a bit more prepared to go up against more and he had just the pair to do it. He was already walking with one as he arrived on the scene with his blue Charmeleon Hotstuff striding confidently at his side, keeping Big warm from the snow with just his presence and excitement for the coming fight. The battle was about to take off but before he would join he had to bring out the other pokemon suited to this. He pulls the shiny new Quick Ball off his belt and lets out the newest member of his team, the Snorlax known as Sans. If a distraction was needed, the same species as their leader would certainly make at least some of them look twice. "You ready for this big guy? I know we haven't had a lot of time to train together but you're plenty strong and should be able to keep up." The huge pokemon just kind of shrugs and nods. Big nods back, "Just one last touch then." He pulls out a TM out of his bag and uses it on Sans to teach him Hyper Beam. "Let's go wreck shop." Hotstuff doesn't need to add anything as both of the pokemon head into battle. "Sans, you focus on the crowd, hit as many as you can with Earthquake and tear into them with your new Hyper Beam!" He calls out to the normal pokemon. "Hotstuff rush the Weavile with flame charge, and then follow up with an overheat to the face!" He grins as his pokemon charge in.
It felt like a lifetime ago since Gary had returned to the shores of Fizzytopia, and yet two years had passed in the blink of an eye. And yet here he stood once again near the coastline of the Springtime Isle, where he had encountered and hatched his beloved Pyukumuku, Pickle. His reason for being here today was because of the summons of Pickle’s mother, the mythical Springtime Pyukumuku, whose duty of spreading cheer on an annual basis had been sabotaged.
The culprit in this mess was none other than a creature known as the Snorlax King, a gluttonous tyrant who commanded a horde to pilfer the Springtime Pyukumuku’s beloved eggs. Well, now was the time to set things right. Gary mulled over his options; he could either take part in the distraction team with throwing his Pokemon into a sea of chaos and warfare, or he could assist with the covert retrieval team with Pokemon skilled enough to transport the eggs back to safety while slipping past a flock of Murkrow’s watchful eyes. Normally Gary was enticed by the flashier option, but this time around he had an idea.
Under the blanket of darkness of the night sky, Gary called upon two of his Pokemon to assist with the cause. One, looked right at home on the Isle of Always Winter; Lynxa the Sneasel’s dark pelt creating a natural camouflage that was well-adapted to this cold climate. On the other hand, the next was Belle the Chansey, a large pink ovoid bringer of happiness and joy. She appeared a bit out of place, but Gary knew just what to do. “Alright guys, let’s go get those eggs back! Lynxa, you’ve got an important role in this, but believe it or not, it’ll be Belle doing the infiltrating!”
Gary couldn’t help but chuckle as both Pokemon gave him incredulous looks. “Hear me out first,” he continued. “Belle, I want you to Minimize yourself in order to slip past the Murkrow. In the event you are noticed, hopefully you should be small enough to be mistaken for an egg and are taken to the pile of eggs even quicker. Once you have arrived at the eggs, I want you to load up some eggs in your pouch and then Ally Switch places with Lynxa who is waiting here with me! Lynxa, once you are teleported into place, I want you to use your natural Pickpocket ability to pilfer as many eggs as you can and then have Belle Ally Switch with you back and forth as many times as you can unseen. If any Murkrow get in your way, render their alarms useless with a swift Throat Chop!”
Lynxa smiled and nodded, seeming to like where this plan was going. There was one issue though, her clawed hands were small as she clutched her Razor Claw that dangled from her neck on a string. Gary looked down at the Sneasel only to notice that she had Pickpocketed a Rare Candy from her own trainer as a warmup. More impressed than surprised, Gary knew the significance behind her action. “Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked. Lynxa simply smirked and plopped the candy into her mouth. A moment had passed before Lynxa began to glow and rise in height. A beautiful crown of feathers formed a headdress while her claws grew longer and sharper. Sure enough, her Razor Claw had disappeared, leaving the graceful Weavile before him. Belle cheered on her compatriot before mentally preparing herself for the task to come.
'...Why are there so many peoole tryingto run infiltration?' Amicae thought as she changed course. 'Shouldn't they know that the more bodies you have on such a mission, the more likely it is to fail?' She shook her head and adjusted her togekiss-inspired mask, before pulling a pair of pokeballs from within her snow-white cloak. "Guess that means that the so-called Distraction Team will need that much more support."
With the change in plans in mind, she decided to also change her focus from stealth to spectacle. The last bit of travel occured not through the snow, but above it- she rode in atop her obsidian-black metang, with her cloak blowing behind her in the wind and a grubbin on her outstretched forearm. "Alright, Ed, are you sure you're ready for this?" The young Bug hesitated for a moment, then nodded with a clack of his mandibles. "Very well, then. Release your limitations, and let your power burst out!"
Almost immediately, Edrick began to noticeably change, becoming far boxier. The brilliant blue light that accompanied the changes would almost certainly draw a little bit of enemy attention toward the trio as well, serving as a beacon to catch the eyes of some foes that Fontaine's novel coloration hadn't before. But more important than those was the sudden, but gentle, surge of electricity that started to flow into the metang, stimulating its focus and empowering it as if it had a Battery installed into its sytem.
Ami put her newly-evolved charjabug down and braced herself. "Now, then, why don't we put our new power to the test? Fontaine, aim your Zap Cannon at the giant fatty at full power!" She knew about the move's poor accuracy, and had accounted for it- both aiming for one of the biggest targets on the field and ensuring that many a rattata would get caught by the blast instead if the attack flew too low. A giant electrical explosion was almost certainly a big enough distraction to give the Retrieval team some breathing room, despite its massive numbers.
Of course, all this meant that she now had the attention of an army of Dark Types while she had a Psychic pokemon out. "Alright, Fontaine, time for some evasive manuevers. Keep it steady for now, we don't want lose them quite yet." She stood back up and assumed a pose that would seem very out of place- if others had done similar things previously throughout the scuffle. "Ed, try to tie up as many persuers as you can and throw them aside with Savage Spin-out!"
*What? Edrick is evolveing!
...
Congratulations! Your Edrick has evolved into Charjabug!*
*Edrick learned Charge!*
(My last two orders are to have Edrick fire a Mud Shot into the crowd and Fontaine to bat away any opposition that manages to get into melee range with Metal Claw. Given how long this post already is, I'm sure you can understand why I'm abridging this last bit...)
PYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
A mighty battle cry rings through the cavern, the Pyukumuku calling on its allies to launch their attacks. The distraction team kicks things off, as the group of eager travellers order their Pokemon onto the offensive. Their task is monumental, engage the bulk of the Snorlax King's forces and give the Retrieval Team an opportunity to salvage all of the stolen goods. They were confident however, confident in the strength and skill of their Pokemon. A Sunny Day courtesy of Blaze the Combusken warms the cavern slightly, however it struggles to battle against the natural cold and would only provide a fraction of the boost it normally would. The Snorlax King glares down from his throne, his minions would take care of this.
The Sunny Day would pale in comparison to the wave of heat that would soon tear through the cavern. Charlie the Charizard, at the command of Keith Masters, blasts the army of Sneasel with a powerful Heat Wave! The blast of super heated air smashes through the legion of Ice types, the first few ranks take the brunt of the blow, crumbling beneath its strength. However the Sneasel quickly put a stop to the wave, a line of them managing to neutralise it with an Icy Wind. While they were busy dealing with the Heat Wave, they failed to realise another Pokemon had been released above them. Hermione sores through the air towards the Sneasel's General, the Totem Weavile rests in the middle of its army. The Weedle hones her claws as she closes in, before landing a smashing blow on the Weavile's head. The Weavile is surprised by the attack, its Defense drops but it quickly grabs the Weedle and crushes it between its claws, lowering its Defense in return. Hermione struggles, doing her best to get free. Her trainer comes to her aid however as Keith activates a Z Crystal, moving with practised precision as he uses the bond between himself and his Weedle to launch a truly powerful attack. The Weedle erupts with a burst of acid, searing the Totem Weavile's hide as it hurls Hermione away, recoiling from the pour of the Acid Downpour.
The Totem Weavile seems to be drawing all the attention for the moment, as another trainer's Pokemon works its way through the army to face him. Mint's Hitmontop spins through the Sneasel, striking them down one by one with Triple Kicks. The Sneasel soon take evasive measures, choosing not to risk being KO'd by the extremely effective move. As Pastinha closes in on the Totem Weavile, Heimdall the Gallade begins to carve a path through the Alolan Rattata. The little rats show plenty of Hustle however, doing their best to avoid the Fury Cutters and get in small blows of their own. Both Pokemon eventually reach their targets, imposing as they are. These weren't just normal Pokemon, they were Totem Pokemon, larger and stronger than others of their respective species. Both through themselves at their opponents as they look to engage in Close Combat. Aggressive blows connect, dealing massive Super Effective damage to both Pokemon, however the aggressive manoeuvre leaves them exposed defensively. Heimdall is sent flying back into the army of Rattata as the Totem Alolan Raticate smash into him with a Double Edge. The Alolan Weavile takes advantage of Pastinha's exposed defence as well, repetitively striking him with Aerial Ace. A number of Sneasel begin to join in as well, forcing Pastinha to retreat to a safer point. They'd dealt a powerful blow, but they would need help if they were going to overcome the Totem Pokemon.
Thankfully help was on its way. A thunderbolt strikes the Weavile, before a smaller figure slips through the Sneasel to face down the Totem Weavile. The Sneasel hadn't given Calem a second look, the Caterpie wasn't exactly what they'd consider a threat. They were sorely mistaken. The Caterpie manages to catch the Totem Weavile by surprise, launching a rippling Flamethrower that slams into the Ice type. What was with these little bugs and their powerful moves?! Tantei, who was responsible for the Thunderbolt earlier, was now dodging and weaving his way through the Alolan Rattata legion at the behest of his trainer, Liawe. Despite a couple of glancing Scratches from the opposing rodents, Tantei makes it through to the Alolan Raticate, who is busy celebrating pushing back the Gallade. There could only be one rodent king and that would be Tantei. The Dedenne leaps at the Totem Pokemon, ready to deal a devastating blow with Super Fang. A keen eyed Alolan Rattata sees him though and Quickly puts itself in the path of the Attack. The Dedenne's fangs sink into wrong target, and unfortunately he has now captured the attention of the big boss. The Totem Raticate Assures that the Dedenne won't get a second chance at landing the attack, smacking it away with a powered up hit. Calem isn't having much luck with his Totem opponent either, his String Shot getting cut down by the Weavile's sharp claws as it harasses him with a Fury Swipes. They had put up in a valiant effort but more help was needed....
A bright light shines out as more help arrives. Leo watches closely as his Swirlix, Cott, harasses both armies with Dazzling Gleam. Both the Alolan Rattata and the Sneasel are left stunned by the attack. The super effective damage isn't the only benefit, the armies are left rubbing their eyes, giving Custard and other Pokemon an opportunity to move in. Custard already knew the plan, it was a Nasty Plot indeed. His Special Attack began to increase, making him all the more dangerous. His target was insight, with its armies temporarily blinded they couldn't even stop him from getting close. Looking back at his trainer, he could see the Z Crystal on the young man's wrist begin to glow bright pink. Here it comes. A surge of energy rushes through Custard, the strength of his bond with his trainer giving him the strength he needed to perform a move with unparalleled strength. Custard streaks through the air like a majestic comet streaking through space. The Togetic crashes into the Alolan Raticate with a devastating Twinkle Tackle, smashing the Dark type into the cavern floor with the powerful Super Effective hit. Leo grins, confident that his attack has left the Alolan Raticate unconscious. Unfortunately this is not the case as the Totem Pokemon rises, taking a deep breath before sending Custard tumbling back with a powerful Blizzard.
The armies of the Weavile and Alolan Raticate were beginning to thin, but a large portion still stood in rank, not wanting to flee out of fear of the Snorlax King. Having already heated things up for everyone, Blaze continues to follow the orders given to him by Alice. He tears through any Sneasel who dare stand in his way, blitzing through them while sheathed in flame. Eventually he breaks through the army and delivers a powerful blow to the Weavile, only for it to Counter the blow. The damage done to Blaze is twice what he had dealt, which leaves her doubled over in pain. Sammi isn't having too much more luck, with the Alolan Raticate sacrificing another minion to avoid taking another Super Fang. Rats! The Snubbull isn't about to give up though, if the Alolan Raticate wanted to play dirty than she would Play Rough! She lands a number of powerful hits, pushing and prodding the Dark typed Raticate until it reaches its breaking point. It spits a poisonous Bomb of Sludge at the Snubbull, nailing her at close range and sending her flying backwards. These Totem Pokemon just won't give up!
A Pokemon catches the eye of the Snorlax King, almost causing it to rise from its throne. The much smaller Snorlax that Big had summoned might have paled in comparison to the mighty Snorlax King, but Sans was eager to make an impact. The Snorlax shakes the entire cavern with an Earthquake, knocking out plenty of the already weakened Sneasel and Alolan Rattata without any regard for the other Pokemon present. The Normal type then fires a tremendous Hyper Beam from its gaping maw, cutting down Sneasel left, right and centre as it clears a way for its teammate. With the path cleared, Hotstuff Charges forward, the Flaming ball streaks towards the Weavile and quickly gathering speed. The odd blue Charmeleon slams into its target, however he is quickly met with hostility. Any speed gained by his Flame Charge is lost as the Totem Weavile performs a Low Sweep, before capitalising on its foe's position and striking with a Slash. Hotstuff lashes out, pushing the Weavile away as he scrambles back to his feet, flames already gathering in his maw. His jaws snap open and he bathes the Totem Pokemon with a Super Effective Overheat! The Super Effective moves were beginning to pile up and the Totem Weavile was beginning to look exhausted.
All the trainers were startled when a Pokemon began glowing next to them. Evolution, here? Now?! Edrick the Grubbin undergoes some dramatic changes as he evolves into a Charjabug, just in time to bolster his teammate with his new ability! Amicae urges Fontaine forward, the uniquely coloured Metang floats through the air, gathering a massive amount of electricity between its limbs. With the Alolan Raticate beginning to tire, it barely sees the giant ball of electricity slowly descending upon it. By the time one of its wounded troops alerts it to the Zap Cannon's presence, it is too late. The bomb explodes, dealing a devastating blow to the Totem Alolan Raticate and a number of its nearby soldiers. The Raticate is the only one to rise, however it does so with a lot of struggle, now crippled with paralysis. The newly evolved Edrick wasn't going to be left out though, his trainer strikes a familiar pose as yet another Z Crystal is activated. The Charjabug leaps into the air, surrounded by the Z Crystal's energy as it begins its Z Move. Edrick fires a thick string of silk at the nearest Alolan Rattata, quickly wrapping it into a bundle. It then begins spinning the Rattata through the remains of the Totem Raticate's army, gathering them into one giant ball of web. It then sends them crashing into the far wall of the cavern. The pair then do their best to help the others clear away the remains of the Sneasel, Fontaine crushing them into the ground and Edrick sniping them from afar with Mudshot. The troops were in retreat.....
.................................................. ...
The Retrieval Team waits at the ready. They were all eager to get to the heisting, but they also knew that to attack before the Distraction Team engage the Snorlax King's armies was a fools endeavour. From their concealed position they could just make out the Snorlax King atop his thrown, an odd crown resting upon his head. They could also see the prizes awaiting them. A large pile of eggs, candy as well as a few random treasure's the Snorlax King's minions had collected from the Springtide Isle and other neighbouring lands. They could also spy the keen eyed guardians of the Snorlax King's horde, a murder of Murkrow perched on rock towers constructed around the horde. The Retrieval Team didn't have to wait long for the fight to start, cries and crashes soon rang through the cavern, perking the interest of the Murkrow, however they didn't leave their roosts. It was go time.
No one is sure who should go first, but eventually a young man by the name of Yamato steps forward. His two canine companions stand alongside him, not for long however as the Zorua, Hush, cloaks himself in an illusion. His Growlithe, Howl, whimpers as he is instructed to stand down, Hush had this covered. Disguised as a shining Klefki, the Zorua prances forward, instantly catching the attention of a number of the Murkrow. Shiny! To add to the illusion, the young Zorua begins to taunt the birds, teasing them into leaving their posts to pursue the object they desired. Hush turns and runs, leading a small flock of the birds away from the hidden Distraction Team, while his trainer and teammate bide their time, once more of the Murkrow were dispersed they'd do their best to recover as many items as possible.
While Yamato does his best to lure the Murkrow away stealthy, a number of other trainers decide to take a more aggressive approach. Hugo leads the charge, his Yamask tossing out numerous toxic spikes which disperse a poisonous gas around a few of the Murkrow. The birds sense something is up instantly and quickly disperse the gas with a few flaps of their wings. The gas has kept them occupied however, allowing the Ghost type to flank them. From a concealed position on the Murkrows' flank, Yamask blasts the birds with a shocking wave of electricity, quickly incapacitating them. While Yamask went to work, Hugo's Bisharp has been busy scaling one of the stone towers. Moving quickly he slashes one Murkrow down from its perch before quickly taking down another before it can sound the alarm. Thank Arceus.
Drake was ready to join the fight, but his partner Wolfie was still preparing himself. If he was to be successful, the Arcanine knew he must have Laser Focus. He took deep breathes, focused on nothing, other than his breathing. He could feel his senses strengthening, his mind was clear, his body was ready. Go time. The Arcanine sprung from his concealed position, his powerful legs carrying him high into the air. He crashes into the Murkrow he intended, but in doing so also knocks over the tower it was sitting on. Oops! The rocks crash onto the cavern floor, catching the alerting all of the Murkrow to the presence of the trainers who had arrived to retrieve the stolen goods. Luna floats above her trainer, there was no way of getting through now, not yet at least. The Lunatone would have to wait for an opportunity, once the Murkrow had been cleared, it would use its Psychic strengths to lift out as many eggs and items as possible.
With the Murkrow now on high alert and fully aware that something was up, Melissa takes two completely different strategies. Signal soaks the swarm of rowdy Murkrow with a special mix of water, leaving them sopping wet and more susceptible to Electric attacks. The Chinchou then begins to strike down Murkrow one by one, using the accuracy of Shock Wave to make quick work of the guards. The Murkrow don't go down without a fight however and begin to retaliate, firing off Night Shade's at the Chinchou which quickly begin to wear it down. Thankfully with Signal drawing so much attention, Ore manages to Sneak past the angry flock and get to some of the Murkrow who remained at their posts. One by one he struck them down with Power Gem, it would take time to eliminate them but the Sableye knew his efforts would be appreciated.
Seeing Melissa and Signal engage the bulk of the Murkrow, Isaac rushes to the trainer's side. Standing with the trainer are a hulking Incineroar by the name of Morgana and his much smaller daughter, Ahri the Espeon. Despite the importance of the task, Ahri did her best to Calm her Mind. She couldn't be afraid, she needed to be confident. She could feel her Special Attack and Special Defence increase, perfect for what her trainer had planned. The gem on the Espeon's forehead began to glow as she gathered a mass of Fairy Energy. She then joins Signal in clearing the alerted Murkrow, taking down a clutch of them with a marvellous Dazzling Gleam! Some of the surviving Murkrow turn their attention to Ahri, beating their wings to wash Ahri with a Ominous Wind. They're quickly sent packing back to their roosts though when Morgana rushes in to protect his daughter, shattering the spirits of the Murkrow with an intimidating Roar! A couple of stragglers attempt to get a Wing Attack in, but they're no match for the Incineroar's power and he quickly swats them down with a couple of Throat Chops. The number of Murkrow was beginning to drop, before long it would be easy pickings!
A small Bug flits from perch to perch, moving so fast the Murkrow can barely keep it in their sights. Bylii strikes them one by one with Moonblasts and quickly develops a gathering of followers, exactly what her trainer had intended. Rory watched as the Cutiefly lead the group of Murkrow away from the horde, heading off in the same direction that 'Klefki' had taken a group earlier. With the coast cleared for a moment, it is Rory's Drapion who makes the first rush to the horde, clutching as many eggs and items as she can in her Thieving claws before rushing back towards her trainer. Lesath comes to a stop as a trio of Murkrow swoop down to block her path, threatening to Drill Peck her until she released her prizes. The Drapion wasn't intimidated however and quickly put on her Scariest Face to put the fear into the birds, causing them to retreat. As the Drapion arrives back at its trainer, the Cutiefly reappears out of nowhere, exhausted from her flight. Lesath placed her haul on the ground and prepared for another run.
Trouble was brewing, the beating of wings heralded the return of the Murkrow. Yamato's Zorua comes rushing back to his trainer's side, looking a bit worse for wear. It looks like the Murkrow worked out that illusion.... Thankfully Jess had a plan to put the meddlesome Murkrow to rest. Hermes, her Togekiss, jets towards the incoming Murkrow, luring them in with a Sweet Scent. Drawn in by the intoxicating aroma, the Murkrow are essentially sitting Psyducks as Hermes fires off Sweet Kisses, confusing the minds of the Murkrow and leaving them unable to fulfill their duties. Perfect! The heisting continues as Custard the Delibird sprints through the thinning ranks and begins to pile eggs and items into his sack. The Delibird heaves as he attempts to drag the bag back, but he seems to have overfilled it. Thankfully a wary Howl rushes from Yamato's side and lends the Delibird a helping hand. With the Growlithe's help the eggs and items are soon safe and Custard prepares to make another run, there was still plenty to recover.
With only a few Murkrow remaining, Hyrem orders his Pokemon to action. The two big cats slink through the shadows, splitting up to flank their remaining opponents. Selina springs forth, striking an unsuspecting Murkrow with a Fake Out. With the Murkrow startled, the Liepard presses her advantage, striking with a Covet to pry free any item the Murkrow might be holding. She manages to grab an egg the Murkrow had been hiding, probably a midnight snack! Clutching the egg softly in her mouth, she retreats back to you and places the egg in the growing pile behind all of the trainers. While Selina turns tail, Luke leaps, sinking a Thunder Fang into the Murkrow that Selina had attacked. The bird is soon unconscious in his jaws, so he drops it and leaps into one of the few remaining clutches of Murkrow. His fur stands on end as he Discharges a tonne of electricity, quickly knocking out the Murkrow. Leaping down from the perch he grabs a few items and rushes them pack to the pile.
Gary towards the cavern, he was late! He had so much on lately, he'd almost missed the Pyukumuku's call for assistance! It was getting dark as he entered the cavern, the moon was beginning to reveal itself. Two Pokemon run beside him, a Sneasel and a Chansey. As Gary began to share his plan with his Pokemon, he noticed that Lynxa was beginning to glow. That little thief! She'd pickpocketed a Rare Candy from you and used it to activate her evolution, the Razor Claw around her neck and the dark of night the other two requirements for this event. She grows larger and a crown of feathers sprouts atop her head, she was now a Weavile! Belle cheered for her teammate, before turning her attention to the task at hand. She began to compress and shrink herself, minimising her mass until she was as small as an ant! She rushes forth, slipping past the few remaining Murkrow with ease. Once she reached the pile of treasures she Switched places with her Ally, Lynxa now standing in front of the pile while Belle stood alongside her trainer. The sudden switch catches the attention of the few remaining Murkrow, who fly from their roosts to take down the thief. Lynxa grins and quickly Chops the Murkrow in the Throat before they can even squawk. With the remainder of the Murkrow accounted for Belle and Lynxa continue to switch places, dropping off load after load of eggs and items.
With the Murkrow either unconscious or otherwise occupied it is an all out blitz as trainer and Pokemon alike rush to recover the Pyukumuku's stolen items. Yamato clutches eggs in his arms as his Zorua and Growlithe pick up lose items in their mouths. Hugo works alongside his Bisharp and Yamask to collect as many of the eggs as they can, while Drake, Wolfie and Luna haul away large portions, the Lunatone making great use of its psychic powers. Isaac and Morgana scoop up plenty of eggs and items while Ahri does her best to lift as much as she can manage with her own psychic abilities. Rory rushes to load up Lesath with as many eggs as possible, while Jess helps Hermes and Custard collect another load. Hyrem and his big cats grab what they can carry, alongside Gary, who leaves Belle and Lynxa to carry out their strategy. Before long the Snorlax King's horde was empty, now you just needed to load up the ships before the Snorlax King wised up to what was going on...........
SNORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
The cavern trembles as the Snorlax glares down at his now empty treasury, he'd been robbed! The giant Snorlax drags himself up off his thrown and glares across the battlefield at the trainers and Pokemon that had kept his army distracted. Thankfully the Retrieval Team is already out of the cavern, busy loading up the ships with the recovered items. The same can't be said for the Distraction Team, who watch on with increasing fear as the Snorlax moves closer, every step shaking the ground like a small Earthquake. His lieutenants stumble to his side, he glares down at them in anger, they had failed him. The Snorlax King takes in a deep breath before exhaling a tremendous Whirlwind, blowing all of the trainers' Pokemon as well as the unconscious Sneasel and Alolan Rattata, back to the entrance of the cave. As the Retrieval Team arrives to stand with the Distraction Team, the boats loaded and ready to go, a small white figure leaps out to face the Snorlax King and his badly beaten henchmen.
The Springtime Pyukumuku stands alone on the battlefield. Cloaked in its bunny suit, the Sea Cucumber was far from a threatening presence. The rage in its eyes should have alerted the Snorlax King, but instead the massive monarch growls at his lieutenants to dispose of the pest. The Totem Weavile rushes forward, striking the Springtime Pyukumuku with a powerful Night Slash that sends the Water type tumbling backwards. The Totem Alolan Raticate struggles to advance, so instead it fires a Dark Pulse striking the Alolan native from afar. The Pyukumuku braces for the impact. It had been Biding its time, letting its opponents grow in confidence, even though they'd been working towards their own demise. As the Easter idol is struck by the Dark Pulse, a red aura condenses around it and it fires a giant white beam of energy. The Totem Weavile is struck first, the Dark type crumbles beneath the strength of the attack. In its paralysed state the Totem Alolan Raticate has no way of avoiding the attack, it takes a deep breath before the beam strikes home, knocking it unconscious as well. Three cheers for the Springtime Pyukumuku!
Not yet. A gem in the crown of the Snorlax King begins to glow with a dark energy. How had no one noticed that earlier! A couple of the keen eyed trainers squint to make out the Snorlium Z Crystal, but something was wrong with it. A dark vein runs through the crystal, it was corrupted! The Snorlax King's eyes glow brightly, the intimidating stare cuts through the souls of all the trainers who were still watching the final showdown. The Snorlax King rushes forward with unexpected speed, arms windmilling as it is empowered by the corrupted Z Crystal. It then leaps into the air, soaring above the Springtime Pyukumuku before it comes crashing down with the force of a warhead. The Pyukumuku is lost beneath the bulk of the Snorlax King, while the explosion knocks all the trainers off their feet and shakes a shower of stalactites loose from the cave's roof. The Snorlax King rises back to its feet, its eyes now on the trainers who had invaded his island and stolen his treasures. The Springtime Pyukumuku struggles to move, it had Endured the hit but it was hanging on only by a thread. Who would help the trainers?!
A mysterious figure leaps in front of the Fizzytopian Trainers. The Pokemon stands at the ready, carefully poised on springy legs. It was dressed in the same white Bunny Suit as the Springtime Pyukumuku, but this was no Pyukumuku. It's long ears and powerful fighting spirit were a dead giveaway, it was the Easter Lopunny! The Easter Buneary had done so much work at the behest of the old gods, that it had taken sometime away to rest and train. Its training had led it to this point, a point where the members of Fizzytopia required its assistance. This wasn't just a regular Lopunny however, this was a Mega Lopunny! It is uncertain how the Easter Mega Lopunny unlocked this power, but it wasn't something to question now, just something to be thankful for.
The Easter Lopunny springs forward, smashing into the Snorlax King's chest with a powerful Jump Kick! The Snorlax King lashes out with a Mega Punch but he is too slow as the Easter Lopunny bounces away and out of range of the attack. With a Helping Hand from the Springtime Pyukumuku, the Mega Lopunny continues its assault. Making use of its speed and skill, it darts in and out, landing Super Effective blows one after the other. Power-Up Punch, Sky Uppercut, Hi Jump Kick! The Snorlax King could do little to avoid the blows, he'd spent so much time on the sidelines, his battle skill had declined. Still, the darkness from the corrupted Z Crystal seemed into his mind, urging him to fight back. A well timed Bulldoze as the Lopunny comes in to attack shakes the Mega Pokemon off its feet. Exposed, the Mega Lopunny is at the mercy of the Snorlax King as it tramples it with a High Horsepower, they needed a better plan.
"Pyuuuu ku ku muku!" The Springtime Pyukumuku shouts to its ally, it had a plan. The Easter Mega Lopunny sheds her Bunny Suit, revealing her natural colouring beneath. Clutching the white suit in one hand, she launches herself at the Snorlax King. Somehow she manages to grab the Snorlax King's crown and stretch the Bunny Suit over the monarch in one motion, performing the ultimate Switcheroo! As the Snorlax King struggles with his new suit, the Springtime Pyukumuku springs onto his head. The Water type begins to emit an odd slime, which soaks through the suit, Purifying the Snorlax King's clouded mind. Meanwhile, the Easter Lopunny disposes of the tainted Snorlium Z Crystal, shattering it with a powerful Rock Smash. With the corrupted Snorlium Z no more and the purification taking hold, the Snorlax King's demeanour changes drastically. It falls back onto its rump, a smile of its face, it was finally free from the tainted crystals corruption. The day was won!
At the request of the Springtime Pyukumuku, the Snorlax King and his armies join the trainers as they board the boats and head back to the Springtide Isle. There was plenty of room for the Snorlax King and his followers and they wouldn't have to resort to pillaging and stealing to survive. The boats were heavy with salvaged goods and passengers, but they pushed through the water, leaving the savage cold of the Isle of Always Winter as they made haste to the Springtide Isle.....
Things went quite well for all involved. The Sunny Day powered up Charlie's Heat Wave, making it all the more powerful, even if the Sneasel were able to hold it back with Icy Wind. However, this didn't stop Hermione! Hone Claws allowed her to land a forceful super effective blow with Rock Smash, and while Crush Claw was dealing major damage, the Weedle fought back hard, Keith helping her to unleash Acid Downpour.
That was Keith's only role in this fight, of course, but the sheer number of participating Trainers made things go quite well. Everything culminated in a big fight between the Springtime Pyukumuku itself and the Totem Pokémon. But while the aquatic pickle emerged victorious there, the Snorlax King entered the fray and proved a far more fearsome adversary. Without the aid of a Trainer, he activated his corrupted Snorlium Z and let fly the intense Snorlax-specific Z-Move, Pulverizing Pancake. Everyone looking on was terrified, though Hermione couldn't help but think to herself that had the Springtime Pyukumuku not tried to Endure the hit, the Snorlax King would surely have taken a massive hit from Innards Out, unless that wasn't the Springtime Pyukumuku's Ability, but then, surely it was more aware than Unaware? But then, she reasoned, so was Luna...
Breaking away from Hermione's full-speed train of thought, Keith looked on as another fighter entered the fray- the Easter Lopunny! Keith raised a skeptical eyebrow at this, for he knew for a fact that the Easter Bunny was in fact a foulmouthed Diggersby, but said nothing, knowing not what sort of laws governed these sorts of legendary figures. Besides, this Easter Lopunny was fighting on their side, so who was he to complain? Especially since the Easter Lopunny seemed to be perpetually Mega Evolved! Before anyone knew it, things were looking way better. A simple yet effective Switcheroo, followed by creative use of Rock Smash to destroy the corrupted Snorlium Z, and then the Springtime Pyukumuku followed up with a strange move that got Keith to consult his Pokédex.
"Pyukumuku's special attack- Purify," droned the device. "A Poison-type move that cures the target of status and allows the user to heal itself at the same time."
"Cool," grinned Keith. And indeed, Purify was curing the Snorlax King of the corruption from the tainted Snorlium Z! Everyone could breathe easy now, and everyone retreated to Springtide Isle. And I do mean everyone, Isle of Always Winter residents included. Now that their king was no longer corrupted, they were all more than willing to escape this frozen wasteland they've been forced to call home.
And once on Springtide Isle, the Trainers were rewarded, and handsomely so. Keith grinned as he was handed a green disc and a few chocolate Rare Candies, but what really got his jaw to drop was the Egg. Ordinary in appearance, but with an almost whimsical air to it. It had been a long time since he'd had an Egg to care for, though considering the questionable practices what that got the Egg House of old closed down, he wasn't exactly hurting for that particular facility to reopen its doors anytime soon. Still, though, he wasn't about to turn down a free Pokémon Egg. Charlie gave a soft growl, the Charizard tenderly holding the Egg, inspecting it briefly before handing it back to his Trainer. Hermione, currently standing on Keith's shoulder, examined the Egg curiously. And as Keith climbed on Charlie's back, they winged their way back to mainland Fizzytopia.
*Event complete!*
*Charlie grew to level 45!*
*Charlie grew to level 46!*
*Hermione grew to level 56!*
*Hermione grew to level 57!*
*Keith obtained 3 Chocolate Rare Candies!*
*Keith obtained a TM22 Solar Beam!*
*Keith received the Fairy Egg!*
Thanks for the cool event, tkf!
