Pokemon TCG the first try

Hi there!

I am about to purchase my first set of Pokemon TCG and I am awfully excited. I don't have much experience with card games but I am willing to learn, also my sister agreed to play with me. Do we need two sets of cards that way? I can order two packs, no problems. But I would appreciate any tips for a total noob like myself!
