In his right mind, he'd never have allowed himself to be goaded like this, but an unforeseen side effect of taking his investigation out onto the field was that he found himself becoming progressively more curious. That, and he'd finally begun to understand that the Pokémon he carried along could indeed provide some manner of protection. Well, one more than the other. Behind him followed Gottfried's Munchlax and the Adoption Centre Staryu, Professor Pine's two unlikely companions. The former seemed oblivious to everything around him that wasn't food, as usual, but the latter had begun displaying some interestingly dependable traits, despite its complete lack of visible emotions. Upon arriving at the designated location - a massive spiral tower, several stories high, both a marvel of modern architecture and an undeniable reference to the legendary Tower of Babel - Rorik took another glance at the letter and, exchanging a quick glance with his two partners, walked in. "Oh, there you are," exclaimed one of the many clerks the second he stepped inside. "Please come in, I have your order ready!" "Hum, lady, if I may... how do you..." "How do I know you're Professor Rorik Pine? Well because the previous customer described you perfectly! Not a lot of people around here look or dress like you, now do they?" Sassy. I dislike it. "Here you are, Professor. You would do well to take good care of it, especially considering whom it's from. It's a great honour!" The woman held out her hand to reveal a PokéBall. Strapped to it was a small note, bearing only a symbol - the crest of Fizzytopia's Elite. "W-who... who is this from?..." The clerk smiled, as if she'd fully expected Rorik's expression of sheer disbelief. "Who do you think? It's from her." Hesitantly, his hand shaking, Rorik reached for the outstretched palm and retrieved the tiny spherical device. Enlarging it, he tossed it to the ground as gently as he could... and it snapped open. What... is the meaning of this? Dark smoke erupted from the Ball, giving form to the spirit known as Gastly (or Ghos in the Saigo Dex). It did not cackle maniacally as Rorik had come to expect of the species, but instead grinned and chuckled as it realized what had happened. The Professor, in turn, was at a loss. "To aid you in your research, she said. And then she left..." Rorik simply nodded, still in stunned disbelief. He was a foreigner on these lands, a researcher from the North - the farthest thing from a warrior, despite the Heimlan blood coursing through his veins. To think that one of the Elite Three, of all people, would go out of her way to bestow this gift upon him... "W-welcome! I... my name is Rorik," he stammered, more than a little nervous both by the unsettling sight of the ghost and the realization that he was receiving it from the Queen of Souls herself. "I hope... I hope I won't disappoint you!" That was all he could muster before awkwardly recalling Gastly inside his Ball, overwhelmed by the weight of responsibility. Thanking the clerk, he hurriedly left the GTS, Munchlax and Staryu in tow, desperately needing to gather his thoughts.
