Even if Fultz was healthy, I don't see how the Sixers come together because of Simmons...spacing problems.

Simmons shoots like a center while playing PG. That's going to conflict with Embiid, but at the same time I can't think of a team that could make use of Simmons. Whereas any team could make use of a as-advertised Fultz and Embiid.

Therein lies the problem of picking the BPA, which was consistent between the FOs.

It's Al Horford.

Horford is still (really) good but he's a horrible fit when Embiid is healthy. He's not. IMV the Sixers should have really tried to get in on that Robert Covington action, I think he would have slotted very well for a team that is kind of 3PT weak.

I think Harden is possibly the most overrated player in the NBA. He's properly categorized as an elite offensive player, but not because he's a skilled shooter. It's because he abuses the foul rules to get a ton of free throws.

Harden's shooting skill is decidedly average, but his shot selection is so clean he makes up for it. He's also lazy when it comes to turnovers and because he dribbles so much (and is double teamed so often) he's easily pushed into issuing a TO.

He gets credit for being durable but he's a rather predictable player and I doubt I draft him next year.

Here's the problem with that. The Celtics and Brooklyn were both in on Harden, and either team getting Harden is a death knell for the Sixers.

The team is basically "win now" with Embiid and Simmons, and holding on to Simmons + picks is basically saying you don't have a plan if you let Embiid walk. At a certain point the Sixers will have too many vets on max or fat contracts to compete - just like the Toronto Raptors right now, which used its vaunted cap space to give raises to its vets without meaningful improvement.

Tell me, what's the Sixers plan to get through Durant-Kyrie-Harden? Or a Miami Heat with Bradly Beal? This isn't even the strongest iteration of the Sixers that had Jimmy Butler. It's basically pray for injuries and it's not like Simmons and Embiid have a rock-solid medical history either.

well for one, Ben Simmons got traded for James Harden! So it was ironic looking back and seeing that you said the Sixers should've traded for Harden in the first place haha
