PippiTallsocks - Having listened carefully to Lucia’s plan, Leon turns his gaze toward the southern end of the valley, assessing the slice of this proverbial sand pie he’s been given. A slight smirk dawns on his sun-burnt face, and he gives the treasure hunter an affirmative nod, “understood.”

Gesturing for Shisa to follow, Karsk and the rest of Lucia’s posse spread out to the edges of the search area. Hiking to the very top of the western dune, the Trainer has a nearly unobstructed view over the valley where the scientist collapsed; from this distance, her companions register as little more than blurry shapes on a heat-soaked horizon, but nonetheless she can tell that they’re all in their assigned positions.

Whatever that Cacturne dropped in its escape, she seems convinced that it’s still here, underneath the ever-shifting sands. Only time and diligence will tell whether her hunch is right...

The four parties start moving in unison, circling the valley like a kettle of Mandibuzz around a starving traveler. In order to find even the faintest trace of a clue, all of their attention is directed toward the ground as they ensure that, one way or another, not a single inch of this valley will go without notice.

With all the ground they need to cover, it’s only natural that the first few laps would take a significant amount of time to complete. Tails and paws sift through the sand as Lucia’s Pokemon walk beside her, unearthing all manner of rocks, but little else. As the laps shorten, so does the prospect of a discovery being unearthed... at least until one of Lucia’s Pokemon lets out a startled cry!

When the other search parties rush to the source of the sound, they all converge upon the sight of Logain laying on the side of the dune, wincing as he licks clean a fresh cut on his paw. Following Zorua’s blood-tinged tracks, Lucia’s eye is caught on something sharp and crystalline poking out from the sand—pulling it free, she finds herself holding a clump of Max Revive!

“Aha! That’s it!” Karsk says, lighting up in recollection the moment he lays his eye upon the amber medicine, “that’s what I saw laying in the sand, that night! If it was truly a Cacturne that stole my bag, then it would only make sense to assume this fell out of a puncture made by its thorns...” he muses.

Well, it seems her plan worked, after all! Judging by the picture Karsk drew back at camp, it seems the culprit left the scene by crossing over the dune behind them, taking a path that leads... southwest!

What will Lucia do, next?

Open up my window...

Aiden calls upon Tase the Joltik to climb the stationary Lunatone, with the order to use a Spider Web to catch the falling object before it lands. The little electric bug complies readily, skittering up the smooth rock with relative ease. Positioning himself at the very top of the Lunatone's crescent, Tase weaves his web, preparing to carry out the task given to him.

You think yourself capable of catching a falling star?

The telepathic voice which echoes in the minds of Aiden, Hint and Tase is monotone, emotionless - yet somehow, the question evokes a feeling of curiosity. As the falling object hurtles towards Tase's web, the Lunatone beneath Tase begins to stir slightly.

Very well. Let this moment decide our fates, the voice concludes, as the Lunatone's eyes fly open, red and iridescent with power. The base upon which it sits shimmers a moment, before light surges through the ground, illuminating constellations where once there was smooth, black rock. The Cosmic Power Lunatone wields also envelops Tase and his web, and suddenly, the tiny arachnid begins to perceive his handiwork as being part of a greater weave - the strings of fate - the grand designs of the universe. The web, for a brief moment, seems to stretch in all directions, infinite in its size and its power.

It is at this very moment that the "falling star" the voice refers to crashes into Tase's web. By all rights, the force should shred the web like paper, but alight with Lunatone's cosmic glow and interstellar influence, the web holds, and the object becomes tangled within its threads. Lunatone's glowing eyes flicker, then fade, and the moon-shaped Pokémon's manifested constellations darken. Its eyes shut once again, as it returns to a motionless slumber.

Unfortunately for Aiden and his team, this leaves them without Lunatone's assistance as they confront the object tangled within Tase's web - no mere object at all, but a living Minior, which seems to be angrily struggling against its bonds. Based on its body language, and the way it seems to be attempting to lunge at Tase, the moment this little meteorite breaks free, it will attack...

What will Aiden, Hint and Tase do?

Lil' Bluey

Lil'twick – Swiftly assessing the situation, you waste no time in fetching a bottle of fresh spring water from your bag and ferrying it over to your imprisoned friend. Ignoring the cuts and scrapes from the coarse sand scathing your own skin, you reach determinedly within the whirlwind to offer the healing draught to the confined Cottonee, whose eyes widen with grateful wonder at your courage and kindness. You smile reassuringly and hold the tonic steady as it takes soothing sips to replenish its vitality, flourishing from such benevolent compassion as much as the beverage's boost.

Once fully powered up by the potion, the re-hydrated hero turns to its opponent as Glace does the same, simultaneously shooting seeds to ensnare the enemy and further even energy distribution. Neither concrete combatant seems keen on the creepers clinging to their forms, as they both begin to throw tandem STOMPING TANTRUMs in an effort to get rid of the pesky parasite plants. The room shakes violently as poor Glace finds herself practically pinned underfoot again, and stalactites start to come crashing down as you and Cottonee desperately try to dodge the debris but receive some bruises from the battering. (To the side you can spy Kadabra erecting a psychic barrier around itself and your other Pokémon to protect against wayward projectiles, but it's plain from its impassive expression that it has no power to intervene directly on the battlefield you've willingly thrown yourself into the thick of.)

Glace grimaces again as she attempts to buy the both of you some time to gain your bearings by firing off another round of foliage, but the homing missiles fail to make her mark cease its rampage as it begins BRUTALly SWINGing its arms to try and shake off the voracious vines - blindly striking everything within its vicinity. Its wild motions whallop into you and Cottonee as well, knocking the wind out of you as you strive your best to shield the small ball with your own body. ...However, it also ends up hitting its ally, who angrily BULLDOZEs back - once again upsetting everyone's balance in the process.

After the chaos dies down, all parties look a little worse for wear (one's self included), but at least your partners manage to gain back a bit of health from the leylines they sowed despite the targets' futile struggle to remove them. Said statues are clearly seething now at not just you, but their own brethren as they eye each other suspiciously, effectively trapping your group between a rock and a hard place.

What will you do now?

Perhaps... The best thing was that time was short-lived. Those things would end up fading away, another transient moment on the tattered cloth that history weaved. Perhaps... in another time, another place, this would've been a different story. A story of a young man growing into the hero of the realm. But he wasn't a hero. For, what purpose would be a hero serve, in a society bereft of them? A world in no need of them? Another time, another place... Another story, another tale... But not here, not yet. Not Him.

Chaos... that was his creed. The melancholic dipped in choleric envy, hiding behind the mask of the sanguine. The pied jester of Po, here to dance on his fragile strings. A puppet of a "hero", to save a princess and prove himself to the Cottonnee with him. Yet, what point was it to wear another mask? Another name? Here in this time, this place, five years ago. To scream out into the heavens, wishing for a return to the present. For he could feel his very soul twist and turn, that the events of his life being changed rapidly before him. His future self did things that had lasting repercussions here in the past. That is what the jester could feel as his body erupted into searing pain as he played the role of 'shield'.

But, nothing could be done. He had to continue down this course to the very end. To continue forward, and fill out the gaps for his future self. That was what he needed to do, to become a memory. Wasn't that every moment...? To become a memory for your future? To be nothing more, than an obstacle you yourself have overcome? Play the part, don the garb, and put on the mask of your greatest villain.

So, he collected himself as best as he could. Getting smacked hard by a giant rock wasn't exactly a thing he wanted to deal with, but no matter, the life of a trainer. The Cottonee seemed grateful he tried to shield it, and he was happy enough to help. It was his friend now, and he wanted to do his best to try and protect it.

He looked at the two Stonjournor, who were wary of each other now. If his opponents couldn't co-operate with each other, then the best thing to do was take them out in the confusion. After all, without a trainer to bind them, Pokemon defaulted to their own instincts. Perhaps, then, he could help them out with their distrust.

"Glace, give the one who used Brutal Swing an Encore! Then use Magical Leaf on the one who used Bulldoze!" he ordered the Comfey. Sure, that would damage both of his Pokemon, but Fairy resisted Dark. Pain was part of life, and they needed to do their best to endure it.

"As for you, can you please use a Stun Spore on the one who used Bulldoze?" Leo asked Cottonee with a reassuring smile. They were going to win this battle, even if they had to get hurt in the process. "Then... let's try and call on the area around us with a Nature Power!"

The Alolan held a resolved, confident smile on his face. He would see this through, and prove himself victorious. For, if this was their trail, then he would overcome it. Sure, he wasn't a hero, far from it, but even those who were looked down on could be useful every once and a while, eh?

I know you're built to love, but broken now, so just try, yeah

Marion-

As memories of the past scratch their way across your mind, you shake your head. No, you weren't just words on a page. You and your teammates were much more than that, and you would prove that to the shade before you. To the avatar of your past, trying to crush you beneath its grip. Yet, this was just another step towards enlightenment, wasn't it? So, it was best to try and let yourself move forwards. BBy crushing this thing into a bloodied pulp.

Bia lunges forwards, her firsts ready to unleash a flurry of blows. THe normal-type attack connects with the body of the best, slightly fading through but still effective. Seems that the realm around you was neutralizing the... ghostly parts of Keith. That was good, as Bia looked more than satisfied.

Helel then makes its move next, shooting out a barrage of rocks, then another. You don't seem to get lucky with any boosts here, but you do see the yellow glow gain get brighter than Bia's. Perhaps that was part of the move's power?

Florges then continues, calling on the power of the moon. Between her hands, you could see a miniature moon charge within, before she sends out the celestial body with a powerful blast. The Moonblast crashes into the Keith Avatar, dealing a massive amount of damage. A nuke, plain and simple...

Wynaut then... splashes about. At first, you wait, expecting the attack to do nothing. Then, the little blue blob becomes engulfed in pure yellow light. Waves of potential spill forth, buffing the entirety of your party and causing them to be fully engulfed in shining light. Strings of buffs surround your group before a lock and chain hang above the Pokemon. Guess you can't use Splash Waves of Potential anymore.

The boss itself then sits there for a bit, charmed by the Wynaut. Yet, you could see it become surrounded by a sinister dark aura soon after, and its white eyes shine brilliantly. It seems to be gaining some Dark Motives, and the wings on its back extend and slash at Bia a few times, removing her shield and dealing additional damage. The same healing wind then moves through, revitalizing your party. At this point, you see them all assume a different fighting stance, the yellow aura pulsating heavily.

"Minerva, unleash our power!" you hear echo through your head, Bia giving you a fierce glare.

What do you do?

Yuki-

The trio of fluffy normal types reacts in their respective ways to the Claydol and its moves. Each of them, of course, comes up with a different strategy entirely to try and fight the Dogu before them. Still, even if there wasn't much in the way of communication, it surely would at least have something to help take it down.

Keif immediately shouts taunting words at the Pokemon, causing it to get aggravated. No time to use status moves now that it was mad. Kanna, though, waggles her right arm to signal the Pokemon to follow her with Follow Me. Meanwhile, beneath the guise of the sand, Yuffie rushes down the Claydol and attacks with a Pursuit, the supper effective attack dealing a good amount of damage.

The guardian of the chamber angered and focused on the Furret, uses a powerful Psychic attack on her. She feels herself picked up by the force of the attack and is immediately smacked hard into the ground. She yelps in pain, and her lover pauses for a second to check on her before continuing his tactics.

The Linoone uses his Skill Swap, gaining the ability to Levitate. His body soon raises slightly above the ground, and the sensation was.... weird. While they don't hear the thud of the Claydol hitting the ground, it was at the point where ground moves could hit it. Kanna then braces herself and goes it, so she could U-Turn out. The buggy move hits the Claydol, as its many eyes watch her through the sand, the attack doing a good amount of damage but doesn't help in avoiding the opponent's mental assault. Yuffie then starts to tickle the doll, feeling the smooth clay on her claws as she does so.

Claydol, while pissed and annoyed, doesn't look more than that. It then continues its assault on the Furret, lancing her mind with a Psyshock attack. She could feel her mind and body getting crushed by a multitude of psychic spheres assaulting her from all regions of the sandstorm.

The ground then trembles as the Claydol slams its arms into the ground, the entire building being shaken by its Earthquake. While the move is now weakened due to Yuffie's tickle, it still does a lot of damage to both the Zigzagoon and Furret. Kanna is not doing well at all from the hard assault she endured this round, Yuffie is faring better but is still feeling the earth power. Keif has luckily only taken chip damage from the Sandstorm at this point but knows his family has suffered for it.

What do they do?

No time for me, no tangling, hit you in the spot with no angle, and -

As Minerva's support gains in power, so, too, do the seeds of doubt root deeper, opposing voices clashing in a discordant, chaotic chorus -

We are host to multitudes.

Colonies. Timelines. Realities.

There is no path that leads to you. Not anymore.

Minerva takes a deep breath.

When you speak, I don't hear God, I hear an idiot babbling.

"I... I know... I know she's gone, but... but that just means that the memories are all that's left."

But I'm still here.

How inelegant your words are. Surely a fool wrote your script.

"We loved each other dearly, and we wanted each other to be happy."

"Minerva, unleash our power!" she hears echo through her head -

"I think... I think she would ultimately, Banette or otherwise -"

You have the sweetest scream. My lambkin.

Nightly dance, of bleeding swords -

"- understand that I need to move on."

I need to move on

I need

X
I

It was her turn. It was time to roll... and she would bet everything.

Those who come to this place always seem to find themselves sucked into one grand adventure or another. Yet, while most of this place is harmless, the heart of the forest is not to be trifled with. (Please reply in OliveDrab)

Fizzytopian Pinewood National Park: Most of the Forest is protected land from the officials of Fizzytopia, and a governing body of rangers and hikers often make their way to make sure people don’t destroy this national treasure. Various campsites and hiking trails connect the forest, allowing trainers to safely wander through and spend their time taking in the sights. Camp out, helping the staff, or observing the wildlife, there’s always something to do here that isn’t bound by the arcane.
Sure is noisy here...

The young Trainer with vibrant red hair and hazel eyes looked around in confusion and apprehension. In his arms was a sleeping Togepi, whom the boy desperately tried to keep that way, but the commotion around them was certainly not making life easy.

I was told I could ask for directions here... I knew I should've gone into town instead!

Hikers really were an unreasonably loud bunch. And where on earth were all the rangers? Not that he would be able to tell just by looking, but the burly, bearded men carrying rope and walking poles probably weren't it...

He should've done his homework. Scratch that, he should've just stayed home and save himself the work! If only mom hadn't insisted so much and given him that stupid Egg...

"It's in your blood, dear! You were born to do this! Believe me, it's going to be just fine..." Aster muttered to himself in annoyance, imitating his mother's voice.

It was nonsense! Twelve-year-old kids should not be allowed to wander the world by themselves! Worse still, he'd heard that in places like Kanto, Trainers left home at the age of ten! Was everyone insane?!

Fine... I'll have to keep looking! Find myself a ranger, introduce myself and ask for directions. Maybe... maybe, if they're nice enough, even ask if they need a hand with something. That should... be some kind of a start, right mom?...

I give and I give and I give and you take, give and you take

Marion-

Letting your memories play like a broken record, you give your teams your orders. Everything you would give this man... every time he would take without question. Take, take, take, TAKE. Perhaps, you'd be even more miserable if you had stayed. What had happened to him? What would have happened to you in that situation? Being sent back ten years into the past and replacing your current self? No... That was a question with no answer.

Bia then lets out a harrowing scream as a shadowy figure appears before her, puppet strings wrapping around her arms. You recognize the figure immediately: Banette. But not just any old Banette, but a Mega Banette... But, last but most certainly not least... YOU.

The strings then break, and the duo proceeds to beat the ever-loving shit out of the Keith Avatar. Bia's punches become more brutal, violent, and rapid while your phantom continues to slash, slice, and dice at the monstrosity.

"Let's end this... STRENGTH-DEVIL'S REPENTANCE!" they shout in unison as they land their finishing blow, each slashing at the creature to form a cross pattern.

You watch as Bia then jumps back into formation, the Banette hanging above her. You don't know how long this shade will remain, but it looks to fully be underneath Bia's control.

Next, Helel floats up into the air, spinning rapidly as he does so. A yellow halo soon forms above the rotating meteor and shoots out a... large amount of laser beams that crash into the boss and explode on contact.

"May this land be purged of sin... PARADISE LOST!" The rock shouts. As the dust settles, you see the Minior's outer casing fall off, revealing the brilliant Yellow core hiding beneath.

The Florges then performs her special move next, pouring a significant amount of Fairy-type energy from her hands into the ground. The entire battlefield soon glows a brilliant white, as lilies begin to bloom all over. The plants then reach up and begin to flower onto the boss. With a graceful bow, the flowers soon burst into a flurry of white flowers, surrounding the battlefield and damaging the boss.

"These flowers are the symbol of purity... Fleur-de-lis," the white flower Florges speaks softly, contrasting sharply the rage in Bia's voice or the desperation in Helel's. You then see the Misty Terrain glow vibrantly, the effects tied to it reapplying to the party.

Lastly... to break up the seriousness is the Wynaut. The blue blob takes out a present box, wrapped neatly in a bright blue bow. Waddling towards the enemy, the Pokemon presents it. The Keith Avatar's Dark Motives begin to fade, and you watch in confusion as it goes to open the present box. The box then explodes into a vibrant display of streamers, confetti, and explosive fireworks.

"A little fun to brighten your day! Why? Wynaut!" The Pokemon cheerfully exclaims as it takes out another present, which promptly explodes into the Keith Avatar's face once more.

As Wynaut returns to line, the yellow aura that surrounds your party shoots out of them. You can only watch as it forms a raging thunderhead above your opponent. A giant bolt of divine light then shoots down, exploding into a giant explosion of pure energy engulfing the Avatar. You can hear its screams, beginning to sound less and less distorted and more like Keith's as it happens.

"ASCENSION!"

Looking over at the Keith Avatar, you see the creature being to... fade. Parts of it, anyway, as it "glitches". You hear it roar in pain as it begins its assault. A giant beam of light pierces through the party, but it doesn't seem to damage it. Instead, whatever it was meant to do, was thankfully blocked by the Florges's reapplication of the veil. You then see the monstrosity sweep your team with its tail, breaking through their shields and smacking them all for some serious damage. You can see its dark motives soon return... And its eyes glowing. Something big was coming... with the healing wind as an odd calm.

What do you do?

I'm not a princess! Not your cutie girlfriend, oh, no - don't you know?

Overwhelmed by internal voices and struggling to look the shadowy manifestation of Keith in the eye, Minerva focuses on the one thing her mind can hold onto... XIII.

A voice from another time, another place... Someone was spinning a wheel. Though the figure holds no deck, she knows which card their heart has drawn by the number upon which the ball lands in the roulette. What were they playing for? What did they hope to win?

13 Black. 13 Black. 13 Black. 13 Black.

The cacophony of voices hushes as Bia manifests a shadowy form, bound in strings. Within those strings, a familiar thread: brown yarn, which she recalled using for a very special project... A Chespin doll. The doll she had lovingly crafted for Keith - the doll she had given him, to remember her.

What had he given her in return?

She searched the threads for a possible answer - her own threads, now long-frayed, and - perhaps she was imagining it - perceived a single, red thread in the bound puppet's restraints. Red with blood, perhaps? Or was it something else...?

When the strings snap, the red thread snaps along with it, and Minerva's head rears back as if she was shot a second time.

A pair of double doors manifests in her mind, flashing across the back of her eyes, as excruciating pain shoots through her skull. Keith and Willa walk through the doors together, looking very much in love, and Minerva can see the red thread coming out of Keith's back. As the doors close, Minerva watches the thread snap from him, as the newlyweds are swallowed by a phenomenon Minerva knew intimately from her time and training in the Nightwatch... A time distortion.

The Keith that emerges... ten years older... Oh, sure, the similarities are there. Same hat, same voice, same kind heart, same memories -

No, not quite. It wasn't the same timeline, after all.

Not the same timeline.

Not the same person.

There is no thread.

There is no fucking thread.

"May this land be purged of sin... PARADISE LOST!"

The light of revelation dawns on Minerva. Yes, she had known of the infamous Dialga Incident, but until that point, had not processed - really, truly processed - what that meant. Perhaps because, deep down, she knew -

If the Keith who had arrived in this timeline carried a similar doll, it had not been woven by her hands.

If the Keith who had arrived in this timeline had loved a woman named Coselle - or Minerva - or whatever the case may be -

It was not her.

A scream forms in her throat, but as she breathes in, the smell of lilies calms her - grounds her. Bound by the threads of time, she could not break free to chase after him. Even as the monster before her begins to sound more and more like the one she had lost...

No.

He was not here. Not anymore.

Her bound spirit lifts with Wynaut's display of bright enthusiasm and comedic hijinks, which damage their adversary on top of it all. Divine light strikes the Keith Avatar, and Minerva sees through him. Taking a step towards the Avatar, she looks up at him, addressing him.

"I see the truth, now. Where once, it was thought I was ripped from this world, never to return, I see now that it was really you who was ripped away from us all along. It was you who has been taken from our timeline... you who are lost to us... Never to return."

Minerva bows her head, tears overwhelming her eyes. "I will never stop loving you - this I vow. But the one now inhabiting this timeline - the one who calls himself Keith - is not the one I swore to. The man I loved... he will never come back to me."

The dreaded card manifests in Minerva's heart - a gift, from one who deeply wished to see her succeed, though he knew not how to help her - one who would not even know he had, regardless, managed to reach her.

The thirteenth card of the Arcana reveals the truth:

The thread is severed.

VIII STRENGTH/XIII DEATH: Cowards die many times before their deaths / The valiant never taste of death but once.
Bia uses Payback.

XVII STAR: You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face.
Helel uses Cosmic Power.

II HIGH PRIESTESS: Death, in itself, is nothing; but we fear / To be we know not what, we know not where.
Florges uses Wish.

???: I hope to arrive at my death late, in love and a little drunk.
Wynaut uses Amnesia.

That I'm no sweet dream, but I'm a hell of a knife

Marion-

XIII - Death

XIII - Death

XIII -

The word begins to convulse and twitch within your mind. The glitchiness of the Keith Avatar soon starts to affect the darkened landscape around you. Static, one by one, creating distortions of your memories. This was, after all, your mind. The manifestation of love and the subconscious is taken to the extreme in a form of a pure nightmare. Yet, even in the faith of the death of your ego, you reach a renewed resolve. Out of the Ashes, Helel's Paradise Lost brings forth revelation. Renewal.

XIII - Rebirth

The card of death within you changes. No longer represented by the pale rider, his ashen bones cloaked in the void. Instead, it is the phoenix, emerging from the ashes of its old form. Reds swirl around you, signaling both your undying love and the rebirth it had come. In the end, the man you loved was dead. There was no denying that. This giant effigy of your trauma was more than enough proof for it. So, end it.

"Minerva, best before I forget, as your guide. If you order us to use a supportive move, we'll still attack. Besides our Wynaut friend, due to the species of Pokemon. Still, depending on other factors, we may execute our special move instead of attacking..." the Minior quickly explains before they all attack.

With his piece said, you watch as your squad executes their orders. Bia, with her Minerva [DRIVE], punches the ever-loving shit out of the Keith Avatar as Payback for all it had done previously. Nothing like tough love, eh? Helel bolsters his form with cosmic energy, before zipping around the creature and bonking it thrice. Helel offers a wish towards the stars, of promised healing and good fortunes, before sending more flowers towards the beast. Wynaut sits down and looks confused, its Amnesia allows it to help purge some of your awful memories and use them as armor. Seems it can't attack outside of its special move proper.

Still, you wait with bated breaths as your opponent unleashes its current special move; Apocalypse. Its eyes flash, and a giant void surrounds your team and grinds them like meat. Multiple threads of dark energy tear through their skin, and they all wince in pain as the attack strikes them. Yet, they stand up tall, glowing brightly. Some took more hits than others, and they look ready to unleash hell as the healing breeze blows through once more.

What do you do?

IT'S DEMOLITION! WIPING ALL OUT! I WON'T GO UNTIL IT'S OVER!

From ash to flame, from black to red, from death to rebirth... The cycle of the eternally spinning wheel. Love may be eternal, yes, but sometimes, one must let its form wither and die, that it may be reborn anew... Burning bright, new life into a darkened mind. Why cling to a single red thread when love has the capacity to be a full, rich tapestry?

Amidst the distortions... memories of love lost, of broken ties, of frayed, torn threads, the shadows of doubt... She can see them. Manifesting alongside Bia, they were steadfast lights in the shifting, distorted darkness of her memories.

Ysayle. The rebellious Eiscue, who often ran away when she wasn't looking, but nevertheless wished to see the world with no other trainer but her. Artist and visionary, her light shone multicolor - an icy aurora.

Rhubarb. A tiny vore demon with an existential crisis every five minutes, but a love as big as her appetite... Which was certainly saying something. Hers was a light unswallowable - big and bright and sugar-coated.

Garl. The stubborn, yet gentle Tyrantrum, who owed his entire education to Bia. He, too, showed the promise of embodying Strength, not just physically, but mentally... Though such revelations would take yet more time and training, as his was a life just beginning. His light, that of the resilient, unyielding - an inextinguishable inner light.

Astrophel. Seer of the stars, and perceiver of destiny's designs. He vowed to lead her down the best possible path, and his light promised the end of this damned tunnel.

And, of course... the harrumphing, haughty, self-important embodiment of darkness himself, the Honchkrow, Oroitz. Winged like a dark angel, his crimson eyes shone with a strange light of their own - his light, ironically, brightest of them all. He would not tolerate her failure, for his heart would simply not bear it. She could hear him saying it now...

They all supported her. They all loved her... and Sister Bia, too, feels their loving presence profoundly. For who among them had not, at some point or another, turned to the Bewear for guidance? Miss Bia may not be the purported dispensary of wisdom that her winged counterpart was, but her no-nonsense attitude - and incomparable strength - had earned all of their respect and admiration.

Still, despite these manifestations, Minerva's heart practically goes through the meat grinder along with her Pokémon at Keith Avatar's fury, pieces of her mind still clinging, still holding fast to that which no longer existed. Weathering the emotional storm, and renewed in strength seeing her Pokémon withstand the blow, a smirk plays across her face. Though she still winces and moans slightly from the devastation, she holds herself upright, defiant.

"Apocalypse? Apocalypse? Honestly, Keith... This isn't the end of the world."

Minerva points, her smirk transforming to a vicious snarl. "But it is the end for you. Bia! Helel! Florges! Wynaut! Bring your full might to bear, and tear him asunder!"

VIII STRENGTH/XIII REBIRTH: And just as the Phoenix rose from the ashes, she too will rise. Returning from the flames, clothed in nothing but her strength, more beautiful than ever before.
Bia uses Strength-Devil's Repentance.

XVII STAR: Stars are phoenixes, rising from their own ashes.
Helel uses Double-Edge (120 BP).

II HIGH PRIESTESS: From the ashes, a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring.
Florges uses Disarming Voice (40 BP).

???: What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.
Wynaut uses Counter.

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine

Marion-

You see fragments of your team stand at Bia's side, all of them having pledged themselves to you. Even if they weren't here with you, their souls forever stayed. They were your strength, your hope, in overcoming the dark road you had forever wandered. For now, the light was soon coming, dawn was rising. And its radiance would shine and overcome the heavens.

Bia once more takes control of the Banette, and you watch the duo pulverize the Keith Avatar once more. Yet, when they were done, you noticed something interesting. A tiny bit of their golden glow jumps towards the rest of the team. But, before they could act, you watch as the Banette goes in to slash at the avatar twice. Helel then fully powers up and unleashes divine radiance onto the Keith Avatar.

Double-Edge ----> Paradise Lost.

Once the special move is done, you see the energy charge up both the Florges and Wynaut. Florges, however, continues with her orders and lets out wave after wave of Disarming Voice, two jarring soundwaves crashing into the Keith Avatar. Wynaut, however, is fully powered up from the Paradise Lost. Instead of Counter, it performs its own signature move.

Counter ----> Why? Wynaut!

The power then flies from Bia, Helel, and the Wynaut to create a powerful thunderstorm, sending down bolts of divine lightning to smite the Keith Avatar. The beast lets out an agonizing roar as its dark, shadowy flesh is zapped by the lightning bolts.

"Lightning Eradication!"

Once the chain burst hits, however, you notice a massive change in the Keith Avatar. You hear the shattering of chains as the creature convulsed. Miniature black holes soon appear within its hands, and its wings unfurl even further. Eyes and chest aglow with a blood red light, shining as boldly as a blood moon. It appears it has unleashed its true power and was ready to wipe the floor with you.

Raising its right hand, it briefly hoists the orb above it, before beams of dark orange light rain down from the skies. The beams then hit the ground, forming together into a pool of darkness before washing over your team, the Tide of Chaos dealing massive amounts of damage to them. You can see Helel slumping over, not looking good in the slightest.

Yet, the stars seem to align as the Florges's wish is granted, and healing light washes over your team. You see the Minior return to its standard position, especially strengthened by the healing winds blowing through your team. These are the ties that bind you, use them well.

What do you do?

Lil' Bluey I am half-sick of shadows

Lil'twick – Time seems to warp once again as you feel the concrete collide with your back, sending shockwaves down your spine. Yet there's a sense of removal, spirit separate from self. Like the Lady of Shalott watching the world pass her by through a mirror, weaving together a tapestry that tells the tale of a hero, but not her own. Stitching gaps in history - his story - simply to save the timeline before it unravels and comes undone. Leaving no watermark in her wake as she floats following the river's current, powerless to pull against its final direction. Nothing but a shadow, a mere shell of former fairness by the time she arrives. Is this already a reflection of memory? No, the shimmering haze laughs as delayed pain hits you like a truck, this is reality...

Still, if this is the role you must play for now, then so be it. You'll don the mask, dance on marionette's strings - all to satisfy some higher power that decided this is your "destiny". If nothing else, Cottonee's worried expression snaps you back to the "present". You smile comfortingly despite wincing, and determine to see this through to the end for its sake. ...Even if it means having to hurt more in the process.

You call out your strategy, and your partners nod despite knowing the risk. Glace starts to clap sarcastically at the bumbling boulder's clumsiness, goading it to BRUTALly SWING its arms again in a rage at every moving object in sight. While your side unfortunately once again receives a beating as a result, it also bumps into its brother again - who this time has had enough of its "ally's" antics and practically lifts the other above its head with SUPERPOWER before throwing it angrily across the room, scattering segments.

At the same time, Glace and Cottonee simultaneously unleash more leaves and paralyzing powder, combining together to create a cloud that cuts both the target's marble surface and movement. As the other opponent also picks its own pieces back up, it carries on with its whirlwind rampage like a wound clockwork toy as if nothing happened, seemingly unable to stop itself under the effects of an imaginary audience's applause. Spinning onstage to a beautiful song only it can hear as it crashes into its cohort for a third time. Enraged, the second enemy drops its own FACADE of trying to work together and flails at its so-called "friend", channeling electric fury into energy (even if it's not very effective). Taking advantage of the confusion, Cottonee calls upon the cave's surrounding elements, firing off a bright spotlight that sparkles like crystals to a silent music score as it strikes the same mark - who is seething so much at its "mate" it barely seems to notice.

With the performers all in pandemonium, it seems it's only a matter of time before the show comes to a close. How will you conduct the next act?

Leo watched as his plan worked, and the two Stonjournor were turned against each other. A little bit of fae trickery, and one was stuck on the same old song and dance. The other was enraged to the point where it could only attack the one stuck in a loop. This battle was all but said and done. No point in trying to delay the inevitable now.

"Glace, use Giga Drain on the rampaging one! Your Triage will guarantee you act before anyone else. Then, follow it up with a Gummi Bomb (Grass) on it, let's use SUperpower's drawback to our advantage!" Leo orders his Comfey, the Alolan fairy giving him a nod.

He then turns towards the Cottonee, ready to give it its orders.

"Alrighty, if you could please spread some of the love with Razor Leaf! Then, I'll leave it up to you, but use your Mega Drain to heal up!" He cheerfully gives the commands to the small cotton boll.

Soon, this trail will be over, and he'll be able to rescue the princess. Or whatever. THis wasn't his dream, but he had to keep dreaming it. Fate wanted it so, and if he must pass the trail he will do so with his all. For, the past was still sealed in his mind, and the future horrors that awaited weren't even a thought that could occur.

A giant red and silver starship appeared with a boom over the Starshard Field, the engines on this monstrosity of a starship kicking up the pink sand particles causing a miniature sandstorm enveloping the ship.

Alexius V was written on the ship in bold red writing upon both sides.
The starship finally cut the engines and settled itself upon the sand, having kicked out landing feet pads. After a few minutes pass the bottom part of the hull opened up and out came crew members with highly advanced technological pads that looked almost holographic in nature.

"Seems like the air is indeed suitable to sustain human life much as we predicted, Captain Will." a crew member reported to a middle-aged man whose clothes seemed to suddenly materialize, seemingly made to be a perfect fit for the surrounding area the person who stepped out of the ship into the new environment. Several short beeps seemed to emanate from within Captian Will's tech-pad, thus which he pulled out.

"So, does this seem more like your homeworld Azalea?" he asked his porygon within his tablet

As each furry family member leapt separately into action, it became clear communication wasn't quite their forte as Kief and Kanna watched in shock while their daughter recklessly rushed down the opponent, despite their efforts to draw attention away from the young raccoon. ...Although on the one hand they seemed to succeed in that regard, as the doll completely ignored the small creature clinging to its side as it whirled around and glowered at the other goading pair instead - specifically the shaking Furret who gulped nervously.

Egged on by her partner's jeers, the enraged Jōmon jar chose to pick solely on poor Kanna instead, as she squeaked in fear and cast a pleading glimpse to Kief for him to stop provoking before it got too out of hand. Kief immediately shut his mouth, regretful now for mocking so much as the maddened pot mentally picked up the trembling ferret with its telekinetic talent - and slammed her fiercely into the floor. Kief quickly raced over to check if she was okay, apologizing profusely as she gave a weak grimace, prepared to bear the brunt of pain if it meant protecting her loved ones.

Glaring at the guardian, Kief switched tactics to try and ground it as well, once again exchanging abilities as he felt himself suddenly start to lift off the earth slightly. He wobbled unsteadily in surprise at the strange floating sensation, eventually managing to stabilize himself. Meanwhile, the idol descended unceremoniously to their level, confused by the abrupt change in altitude.

Yufi, who had been desparately hanging on to the constantly spinning top for dear life all this time, took advantage of the momentary opening to try and tease the stationary statue's skin. Searching the cool, smooth clay beneath her paws for any vulnerable spots, she couldn't really tell whether it was effective or not given the lack of visible reaction. Meanwhile, Kanna seized the opportunity to try and put some distance between her and the homing sentry, whilst also dealing damage to the droid as she bounced off its back like a bug. However, her escape method did nothing to mitigate its mind's reach, as it locked onto its target again and fired off a series of cerebral shocks, the psychic spheres seemingly buffeting her brain and body from every direction.

As the trio looked at each other (two of which who were already rather tired out), they knew they'd have to work together better in order to take down the enemy - who appeared little more than annoyed by their antics at this rate. Taking command, Kief called out a plan to his comrades:

"Yufi, use some of the SAND to ATTACK its eyes while you've got a chance! Kan, can you FOCUS your ENERGY and then BATON PASS to me? I'm going to BELLY DRUM since I've still got health, and hit it hard with SHADOW CLAW. Yufi, lend your dad a HELPING HAND too, would you?"

It was a risky Hail Mareep, but hopefully if everything went smoothly they'd be able to score a sizeable strike on their foe... Presuming fortune would grace them with a favoring smile - which he could only pray for at this point.

Now you've used up all your luck // Time to get what you deserve

Yuki-

Accessing the situation at hand, Keif comes up with a strategy that could potentially help them get closer to victory. Of course, if things went off as expected. If not, there was no telling what exactly could occur. This was a mud-chanical menace, and one with a clear task. Protect whatever was on the other side.

So, with the trio of Normals with their orders, they begin yet another round of combat. While out of order, Yuffie gives her father a Helping Hand, the move having the highest priority in the room. She runs back over to him and gives a quick nuzzle before re-entering the sandstorm surrounding them. While she does that, he hones his claws against the ground while Kanna tries to focus her energy.

As they set up, the Claydol continues the offensive due to its taunting from earlier. It summons a multitude of magical rocks, and sends them flying towards Keif. Seems it picked up that the group was playing "buff the Linoone" and quickly accessed it was time to eliminate them. Still, the plan was in place, and soon things would change.

Yuffie takes advantage of the sandstorm around them and starts to attack the Claydol with sand. While the attack doesn't deal any damage, it does lower the Pokemon's accuracy. The group can hear a groan coming from the dogu as it gets irritated from the sand. It then immediately focuses on Yuffie, and picks her up with Psychic, flinging her into the wall.

Keif and Kanna can only watch in horror as they hear the thud, and see the Zigzagoon slump down the wall. None of them had healed up from their previous battles, and Yuffie was worse for wear. Trying her best to swallow her motherly instinct, Kanna finishes her baton pass to her husband. With a solemn nod, the Linoone bolts forward.

Wreathed in shadow, he extends his right paw towards the Claydol. With all of his might, he slashes down, the Shadow Claw landing a critical hit. The giant doll lets out a louder groan before its eyes start to dim. The sandstorm then dies down, signifying the battle's end. It also shows that the room wasn't too damaged from the fight.

Towards the back of the room was a small phylactery, adorned with flowers. A singular wooden comb was placed on top, and behind it was a mural carved into the wall. It showed the history of the monastic order and its subsequent fall. The images showcase how the last monk, the only female in the order, transferred her soul into a box and chose the hollowed body of a Corsola as its new target if she ever needed to reawaken. Perhaps this was what the stone meant by the end of the trial?

What do they do?

Stargazer - As one of the Mystical Realm’s largest tourist destinations, it may come as no surprise that the trails are brimming with pedestrians. It’s a tad ironic to think about—so many people coming here to get away from the dreariness of everyday life, only to find themselves pushing through a massive crowd...

The hikers certainly draw the most attention with their boisterous words and overflowing backpacks, and yet for every burly mountaineer, there are a dozen more casual visitors to Pinewood Park. In his aimless wandering, Aster sees families enjoying picnics beneath the shade of a large pine tree, and couples letting their Pokemon stroll beside them on the gravel trail—he even spots a bird-watcher parked quietly on a lonely bench, binoculars trained on the treetops above, and completely ignorant to the passerby boy.

The one thing Aster seems to be unable to find, however, is a Ranger. Surely, there had to be at least one watching over the busiest part of the park, but it looks like all these people are currently without supervision.

Though the hikers may make him feel a little under-prepared in comparison, the main trails are gentle enough for a child to handle on their own. Cradling a half-sleeping Togepi in his arms, the boy carries on, venturing ever deeper into the forest. The sound of boastful hikers and playing children slowly fades into the distance. Leaving behind the crunch of gravel beneath his soles and the rustle of pine needles in the wind. From just beyond the trees, he can even hear a brook gently babbling as it runs its course.

One can almost lose all sense of time wandering these trails... sinking deeper into the tranquil ambience... except-

*Tshk!*

The sudden crackling of a radio startles a flock of Pidove, who scatter from their perch. Drawing Aster’s attention off the side of the trail, he notices a woman dressed in bright orange crouched down amidst a thicket, as though she’s inspecting something. A coil of rope dangles from her faux-leather belt, partially concealing a holster for a Chinchou-patterned flashlight. She's definitely not a hiker, even if she's suited up like one.

The chatter that pours forth from her handset is indecipherable from this distance, but it sounds serious. Replying with a simple "acknowledged", the woman rises, her sun-kissed brow furrowed in frustration as she stares at something unseen before her feet.

What will you do?

For someone so young, seeing the world for the first time on his own, Aster was trying his absolute best to keep it together. But if he was being completely honest, all the commotion was getting to him, people roaming about with their Pokemon outside their Balls (maniacs, all of them!) making all sorts of noise. More importantly, everyone seemed so sure of where they were going, so full of purpose... it made him feel even more inadequate.

Starshine continued to sleep, nestled in Aster's arms, her safe haven. Looking down at her, he realized something - instinctively, he needed that same comfort. But in that situation, far from home and his own mother, Aster was the parental figure. That, too, was probably part of growing up. But who would guide him? Who'd tell him where to go and what to do next?

A Ranger. I have to find one.

He wanted to be of some use to someone. Ultimately, that's what Trainers did, right? But how could he do that when he could barely care for himself and his two Pokemon? It seemed so easy in those videogames...

Mostly aimlessly, he wandered on. The path was linear, but not immutable. He kept walking, and walking, and bystanders became fewer and farther between. After a while, everything was mostly silent. Until the unmistakable sound of radio static pierced the air, and...

"H-hey, wait!"

Reacting to the noise, a PokéBall in his Belt clicked open on its own, and out came Breaker. The Nidoran looked around frantically for the source of the strange sound, hoping to find someone, anyone to engage. After a little while, his red eyes locked on a target before even Aster realized it. The Nidoran charged ahead, and only then did Aster notice the woman up ahead, dressed in classic Ranger gear, with a frustrated look on her face.

"Breaker wait!"

It was only by some miracle that he managed to take aim with one hand, clutching Starshine in the other, and recall the charging Poison-Type back inside his Ball just before he tackled the woman. Then, hoping she noticed nothing, the boy approached the Ranger, and cleared his throat.

"U-uh, hi! Hum... I'm Aster Kallis, a Trainer! Well, a... Trainer-in-training, I suppose. Just getting started, really, but... uh, is there anything I could help with? It's what Trainers do and all..."

It's coalition. Pieces of wreckage...

Defiance filled Sister Minerva's heart, colored her gaze, clenched her fists. How dare, how dare this pathetic approximation of her beloved Keith call upon that blood red light, shine bold like the blood moon, when she was the one known as the Goddess of Blood. The blood moon was hers - he was but a pretender. Let him bring all to bear, for it would not be enough! A growl forms deep in her throat, claws bared.

This was yet another truth within her heart... The longer she spent bonded with Bia, the more she became like the calm, yet powerful bear she had purportedly tamed. Who had tamed whom? Who was the real beast in the relationship?

Who was the source of their strength?

The glow of moonlight emanates from their hearts. Puppet and puppeteer. It didn't matter who took which role. The strings would play the melody regardless. She would shed skin of those who spit venomous, and sing...

His eulogy.

In truth, she wanted to wail, scream, weep profusely. Every moment of battle was excruciating... But she could not betray this weakness. She could not mourn him before he was even buried, and if she did not finish this job, her beloved Pokémon would be buried alongside him. A cruel reality... But that was nothing new for Minerva. She was always the one who had to bear the harder truths, while he floated, poisonous air, above them all. It seemed... against the nature of their relationship, to be the one to bury him.

How she had longed to carry his child. Bear his blood.

To bury his blood -

To carry the shovel -

She needed help, to carry that weight.

Strength. Star. High Priestess - would it be enough? Would the hole be deep enough to hold him, and the dirt, thick enough that he would never surface again?

She could only hope.

VIII STRENGTH/XIII REBIRTH: No lover leaves the rose garden without blood on their hands.
Bia uses Rock Slide (75 BP).

XVII STAR: It was night, and the rain fell; and falling, it was rain, but, having fallen, it was blood.
Helel uses Power Gem (80 BP).

II HIGH PRIESTESS: Blood is the rose of the mysterious union.
Florges uses Fleur-de-lis.

???: Love heats my blood, blood spins my head, and my head falls in love.
Wynaut uses Destiny Bond.

Lil' Bluey With a steady stony glance- like some bold seer in a trance

Lil'twick – Having turned the tables so that puppet pebbles now dance in the palm of your hand, you grin as you give Glace and Cottonee their final orders, ready to close the curtain on this farce once and for all.

Glace goes first by draining the health of the bewitched boulder, who is still heedlessly swinging its arms in every direction. As it collides with its cohort once again, the multi-battered beast roars in rage as it responds with a devastating EARTHQUAKE. The cave shakes even more violently than before as the whole roof threatens to come down on you and your companions, whilst Kadabra glances up at the barrier it's erected, a hint of worry crossing its normally calm expression that it might not hold against total collapse.

While your partners manage to stand their ground against the tremors, the other tower tumbles over once again - and this time seems to snap out of its spell as it turns and glares at the fae who tricked it in the first place. Charging over with a furious bellow, it SLAMs the full weight of its HEAVY body onto the poor fairy, pressing its flowers flat further.

Seeing its companion finally come to its senses, the other opponent resumes attention to its true target as well, and follows suit by wrapping its body in flames and CRASHes into Cottonee, who squeaks in pain from the intense burning HEAT. Still, it manages to counter by firing off a few fiery leaves of its own, ignited by the stray sparks as they simultaneously strike both adversaries, searing rocky surface.

Though weakened and nearly wilted from the successive super-effective hits, Glace and Cottonee nod at each other as they summon their remaining strength to launch an ultimate assault: the former detonating a bomb of grassy energy, while the latter makes a desperate last-ditch attempt to steal some stamina back. As the exhausted enemies receive the attacks, their own fatigue becomes too much to bear as they topple in tandem, simply crumpling back into heaps of mere inanimate blocks.

Both Stonjourner are unable to battle! Glace and Cottonee each gain +4 Levels!

Past the piles of stagnant stones, the painted murals on the wall start to glow, and a groaning noise resounds as the back section of the chamber rotates - revealing a hidden passageway to a second small alcove. There, inserted into a pedestal at the top of a short stairway is a gleaming steel sword, standing tall and proud as a testament to the trial victor's valor. ...At its base, to your surprise you also spot a Bellossom and Gossifleur sitting together on the steps - presumably the missing princess and her handmaiden - conversing casually in soft, pleasant tones and giggling to each other (fortunately appearing unharmed at least). They suddenly startle and leap up upon realizing your presence, smoothing skirt and curtsying in a sophisticated manner; seeming sheepish for some reason as they shuffle awkwardly at the unanticipated interruption.

How do you react?

What do they do?
With a plan in place, the trio took their turns carrying out respective tasks. Yufi quickly dashed over to her dad and nuzzled his cheek in support, before braving the sands once again. Kief drummed his chest in order to psych himself up - cutting his spare health in half in the process - while Kanna focused her own energy towards analyzing the opponent's critical weak spots.

Sensing its enemies were up to some sneaky strategy involving the Linoone, it switched targets to toss a series of stones towards the clear leader of the pack. Seeing her dad in danger, Yufi kicked up a cloud of swirling sand directly at the dogu's line of sight, causing it to groan irritably as coarse granules of its own creation obscured its vision. Still, due to the close quarters, it was able to pinpoint its assailant's exact location and hurl her away with its psychic powers, slamming the poor furball against the wall.

Yufi's parents watched in abject horror as she slumped catatonic against the side of the catacomb, completely worn out after both back-to-back battles took their toll - in combination with her lack of combat experience. Repressing maternal reflex to run immediately to her baby, Kanna hastily finished her assessment and passed the knowledge on to her partner. The Linoone nodded and locked on to his mark, before barreling forward in a straight arrow at blazing speed. Raising his claw and surrounding in spectral force, he brought it down in one fell swoop with all the fury of a vengeful father, slicing through the statue without hesitation. The shadows shred through the sculpture's soul, darkening its eyes as the storm died down with it. The fight was over, but their progeny had paid the price...

Kief and Kanna hurriedly raced over to check on their child's welfare, desperately wishing their trainer were here with them to help revitalize her. Without access to any portable medicine, there was nothing the pair could do but hold her close and hope they could get out of here fast to find a healing center. They gently licked the fainted Zigzagoon's face with tenderness and love, before the Furret helped lift onto the Linoone's back to carry as they cautiously approached the back of the room.

Now that the path was clear, they could spot a small leather box festooned with flowers, and a plain wooden comb placed atop. Behind a carved mural described the history of the monks, and how when the order fell the only female among them transferred her spirit into a container, selecting the hollowed body of a Corsola as a new host if ever she was required to reawaken...

Unsure what to make of the story, the two puzzled parents looked at each other in confusion and concern. All they really wanted at this point was to return home together as a family, safe and healthy - now that they had supposedly proven their "worth". There was also the captive Corsola to consider (presumably the same pictured in the painting). Afraid to disturb such a scene of sacred artifacts for fear of unleashing further demons, the two decided to simply bow their heads and pray for their daughter's recovery, and for all four of them to finally be free from this place...

Litwick Send me away on the words of a love song // Thanks for the memories

Marion-

"Blood begets blood. Come, hunter of nightmares, and be reborn in blood. To bloom once again, like a flower in the dawn. Sing a solemn etude for your soul, and scream out the requiem of your past. For this nameless song writ in blood shall be your salvation." - The Book of Saint Magdeline, Maria 4:4

One.

"Forgive, but never forget. Never forget what brought you on this path so that you may guide others. The womb's water is no more, for all who you meet are your children. Guide them, forgive them, but make sure they never forget why they saught your guidance." - The Book of Saint Maglynn, Akiha 11:7

Two.

"The Lord above watches from the stars on high. The heavens may fall as rain, but only because the Lord weeps. For we are creatures of sadness and sins, stuck stagnant and never moving forwards. For, if the Lord can move the heavens forwards, we shall too." The Book of Saint Maglynn, Diana 3:18

You look towards the Florges, realizing the words of this verse were coming from her lips before hearing 'Three.'

"From earth and soul, wheat grows. From blood and water, dough rises. From body and heart, bread bakes. And from love and hope, we partake. For bread is the accumulation of our earthly vessel, and the wisdom we share with the lost. The Bread of the Lord is The Bread of the Sisters." The Book of Saint Maglynn, Loretta 24:1

FOUR!

You feel your head sear as the verses of the holy book race through your head. Perhaps, as a response to the resolve to break the creature in front of you. Yet, even as these texts pierce your mind, you find your will strengthening. It was a reminder to not bend. To not break. To continue forward with who you were, not with what the past had left for you.

So, with renewed strength, you give your teams their orders. You watch as the shimmering display continues, the party doing their best to damage the rampaging beast in front of you. As it got weaker, the more it tried to lash out and fight. To take you and consume you, to drag you down into that mire you called a "heart." Sickness must be purged, either through blood or bile.

You watch with bated breaths as it reaches the Wynauts turn. Destiny Bond was a risk, but in this world of memories, you see the move act differently. Wynaut bonds with the rest of the party, and for a split second, you see the shadowy circle turn into a 0. Blinking, you watch as the Wynaut commands the rest of the party, giving up its own vitality to do so.

[REPEAT TURN]

Your party attacks again, racking up more and more damage as it does so. Yet, the Wynaut does not. It looks like it was in a severe amount of pain, crouching over and looking at the opponent before it. For, it was riding on the hope of possibility. A Fool, playing its solemn tune leading the way forwards. For when the cliff would come, no one would know, but the possibilities leading up to it were infinite.

The Keith Avatar screams and writhes in pain, rising rancor and rage empowering it. Yet, it was not at its trigger point yet. Not here, not yet. It lashes out again, narrowly missing the Wynaut as it does so. By some sheer stroke of luck, your entire party was standing at ready, waiting to deal the final blow.

Yet, you see your foe preparing a massive attack. You watch as its golden eyes turn a deep red, and the orbs in its hands combine into a sharp crimson. The pure malice and hatred surrounding it were palpable, crackling like black lightning. You watch as the orb grows larger, and larger, and larger. Yet, it seems it wasn't ready just yet. One last turn, one last time, to say the words truly on your heart.

"Send him away with your heart's love song." You hear a voice whisper. Your own.

What do you do?

Yuki-

With all of this said and done, the duo prays that all within may find happiness. They watch as their daughter soon stirs, and jumps back onto her feet from her father's back. Despite all that has happened to her, she rises looking stronger. Her worth had been proven, and the rest of the family had away. Kanna and Keif watch in awe as a golden glow leaves them, and is absorbed into the Zigzagoon they watched over.

Congradulations! Yuffie has gained 5 levels as a reward for her family's valiant efforts.

Though, the parents quickly try and stop their daughter as she bolts forward, grabbing the box. After all, this must be their reward right? The building begins to crumble as the Claydol begins to revive. Its eyes glow a sharp red as a loud, booming voice fills the entirety of the building.

"INTRUDER ALERT. ALARM SYSTEM ACTIVATED. PREVENT THE INTRUDER'S ESCAPE! ORDERS TO EXPLODE GRANTED. T-MINUS 25 UNTIL EXPLOSION."

The entire family looks at each other in horror as they hear the words. Without thinking, the parents place their daughter onto her father's back once more, and they rush through the entrance to the chamber. They race back through Keith's trial. The Sigilyph rises once more to stop them, only to be crushed by falling brick and knocked out.

"20"

They reach the chamber with the rock once more and watch as the box opens up. The soul flies forth, possessing the chunk of dead coral. Blinking a minute, the now reawakened monk takes the visage of a Galarian Corsola. She looks at the group and begins to speak.

"Thank you, valiant champions. I could feel the forces of evil rising once again, threatening to take over the world. The threat of Primal Dialga, and the demons and angels they have arrived in that wake. Now, please, take your rewards," she states with a smile.

"15"

Kanna has obtained a Bouquet of Purple Roses!

Keif has obtained a Choice Scarf!

Yuffie has obtained a pair of Ghostly Shoes!

"10"

They give the Galarian Corsola a look of worry, while happy they got their items they didn't want to die a horrible death. The Pokemon gives them all a nod and uses her Nature Power to manipulate the surroundings. A small, green Baltoy shimmers as it spins towards its master, a hidden chamber revealed from the move.

"My most faithful servant, you now may achieve eternal rest. Please, send us out of here," she speaks to the Shiny Baltoy, and gets a nod in return.

The group then sees their surroundings shift, and find themselves on the docks of a port city. They see the island out in the distance before a giant explosion happens. Then multiple other explosions. Then the island disappeared beneath the waves, and a giant whale creature jumped out of the water, bringing pouring rain...

---

It had been what felt like years since you had last seen Keif, Kanna, and Yuffie. They were meant to go on vacation to Incognito Island, which has long since been abandoned. Even if your adventuring days have long been over, you had searched high and low for them. At last, you found a lead, receiving news of a group of Linoone, Furret, and Zigzagoon teleporting onto the port of the City of Pentacles. One of them was wearing a "Team Pocket" hat, and you knew they were yours.

You find yourself in a police station, looking at your Pokemon through a cell. With them, floating in the air, was a Galarian Corsola. It looked like the Pokemon was complicit in their actions, and the police force believes they were responsible for the destruction of the Island of Temperance. Though, with no solid evidence, they were free to go. Yet, the ghostly coral seemed to not want to leave their sides.

What do you do?

They suddenly startle and leap up upon realizing your presence, smoothing skirt and curtsying in a sophisticated manner; seeming sheepish for some reason as they shuffle awkwardly at the unanticipated interruption.

How do you react?
Leo watched as the rocks fell, hoisted by their own distrust. He was quite proud of his team, even if the Cottonee wasn't his. He, at the very least, definitely felt "Ithat they worked quite well together. Especially with Glace, who at this point only really had Sprinkles as her main grass-type partner. The Morelull, though, was quite timid and didn't fare too well in battle. But, that was fine!

Retuning his Comfey to her Pokeball, he watches as a chamber soon opens up. A silver sword sat atop a pedestal, and beneath it was his quarry. The lost princess, and her handmaiden. He watches as the two do a small curtsey, trying to hide their shock. That was fine though, he didn't really care about royal customs. Where he was from, it was all about going with the flow casual.

"Hello, your highness," he states with a bow, trying his best to be polite. "And, well, happy birthday? Your father sent me to look for you after I made you the most delicious cake..." he trailed off, before moving to a more pondering look. He crossed his arms and started to scratch his left cheek with his left hand.

"After all, your highness, it would be such a shame for a moist Black Forest to go stale. Especially since this loyal subject of yours," he looked at the Cottonee. "Tried their best in assisting me with their father."

After his shpeal to the Bellossom and Glossifleur, he walked forwards towards the sword. He earned this, right? Well, might as well take it, as a memento.

"I prefer bludgeons..." he muttered beneath his breath unconsciously, teaching his neck with his right hand.

He reached out with his left and grabbed the hilt. Taking it, he pointed it skyward. He looked towards the Custard, a mixture of happiness and worry on his faith. Did his Pokemon hear that? What he said? He didn't even know what it was himself, the words blanking.

"Anyways guys, we have the cake to eat! Let's get out of here and celebrate the princess's party!" He loudly exclaims, resting the sword against his side.

(OOC: Claiming Glace's levels, ty!)

Come to me... and let it be one. // Send you away with the words of a love song.

The call for a eulogy is answered by Florges, who recites a passage woven in blood to bury the Beast they oppose, but also, three more readings writ like stars upon Minerva's aching heart - guiding lights, to move her forward. Empowered by the Words of Scripture, evoked by the beautiful, floral embodiment of the High Priestess, Minerva issues her orders with renewed vigor.

FOUR.

Four Pokémon standing between Minerva and complete annihilation. Four cards of the tarot. Four years. Four long, and miserable years, dwelling in the past and dreading the future.

THREE.

In that time, it was Minerva, Bia, and Oroitz against the world. The trio forged an inseparable bond, and they became each other's strength.

TWO.

In confronting their demons, The High Priestess etched her mark over Sister Minerva and Sister Bia's heart. Two souls, moving and acting as

ONE.

And when the countdown hits zero, the clock rewinds -

Back to the beginning.

...

Coselle's eyes glitter with mischief and interest as Keith reveals his preferred method of death... "A true soul of Valhalla, hmmmm? You wish to die heroically in battle? Mm, I can see it now..." Coselle's voice takes on a dramatic tinge, as if narrating an epic movie, though there is something strangely genuine about her enthusiasm; "The brave Keith, dying in the arms of his beloved after deftly shielding her from the bullet that was meant for her... the bullet that missed her chest, yet managed to still destroy her heart." Coselle's voice drops for a moment, as she leans into him to whisper something; "Oh, and of course you kicked the shooter's ass before dying dramatically, nearly forgot that part..." Moving away from him to pose dramatically and continue on her description of the brave Keith, she flings her arms out wide and grins maniacally. "They will build a statue in your honor! Make a movie of your life! A shitty Indie band will title a shitty song after you ironically in order to complain about their shitty ex-girlfriends! You'll be a legend! All you need to do... is live a life that matches up to the way you want to die."

Coselle laughs a bit, calming down from her manic, movie-like narration. "That's what father always said. We will die as we live. If you want to die heroically, you must live the life of a hero, first."

Coselle pauses for a moment, humming a little song to herself. "Is that really how you want to die, then...? Aw, but isn't that a little selfish? What if the person you sacrifice yourself for would rather die than live without you?"

Coselle listens to Keith's somewhat surprising response, a playful grin forming on her face. Her mind swims with imagery related to what Keith describes; sharing final moments together, two candles flickering to the same dying rhythm, extinguished simultaneously by a shared breath, a final kiss... It awakens a longing in her, not even so much for romance, but for a death that was not so terribly isolated and alone, as hers was... Even with Anna dying soon after, those moments were bled out entirely within her own mind, as hatred and betrayal overwhelmed her. To have shared that moment with anyone... let alone a lover... It was too much to imagine.

A moment in time... so many years ago. All at once, it returns to her - the parking lot, the conversation, the soft scent of his poison. The young man in his cowboy hat - the cold, clear night. The burning cigarette, held to her lips. The smell of smoke becomes stronger, stronger, stronger, as she watches the Bar that served as the backdrop to their budding love story ignite, the dark sky illuminated in flame.

Oroitz's eyes flicker in the fire, and he can't help but smile, entranced by the purple light - the rising specters - the spectacle of consumption. Fires of the soul, consuming all sin... Oroitz bows his head for a moment, thinking of Minerva, and hoping beyond foolish hope that these flames would somehow reach her heart, and burn away the ties that left her lingering in this place - this country, this godsforsaken land - as if she were still a ghost.

A red-eyed gentleman, clad in dark crow feathers, beckons to her. She could no longer linger here, for all was being consumed in the fires of rebirth. The story would start again - her life, a journey renewed - her death, whenever it came, rewritten.

One last look at Keith - her Keith, the young man who once inhabited this timeline, who once cherished her, promised her everything that she had ever dreamed of. One last half-smile, one last stream of tears, as she embraces the ghost of her past.

The poison fills her lungs, one last time, and as his body begins to burn, she whispers in his ear... Goodbye.

She gently lets go, and turns to the oddly familiar gentleman dressed in black, taking a step toward him -

[REPEAT TURN]

Snapped back into the battle, the Fool's hope rekindles the party's fighting spirit, despite the great sacrifice that Wynaut takes to itself - not knowing whether its sacrifice would lead to victory or an early grave - anything could happen. The possibilities were endless, and the Fool, in its Wisdom, knew it was worth taking the risk.

There was no telling whether that raging fire in her mind would completely consume her, too. Would she return to ash, with everything else? Or would she rise?

Taking that bold step forward, Minerva awakens to the Fool's guidance. There was no turning back now - only the path ahead, which, like the Wynaut's own life, had just begun.

She would send Keith away with the words of a love song.
