A violent tendril of hair crashes into the ground, ripping free chunks of earth as it cleaves through the hardened surface, a clear and present reminder of the destructive power contained within the hulking behemoth presented to the Raiders. Despite this, they resolutely stand to attention, determined to push back against the looming threat. Hatterene simply smirks, her nonchalant expression clearly unimpressed with the offerings, clearly confident that she had the upper hand.

The Raiders begin their assault, lead by the tricky Stella. Churning the air the Dragapult creates a miasma of buzzing insects, the beige mist surging towards Hatterene and engulfing her body within irritation. Seething, the Fairy type is greeted with a much more violent welcome from Brulee, blackened claws raking at the skin of his target and leaving her shuddering with pain. Pan Cake burns with a flickering heat, sliding effortlessly over the ground and tackling the behemoth with determined bravery, an angry red welt forming at the point of contact - while Marissa promises further agony, intensely psyching herself up. With a frown, Hatterene decides to show these interlopers her true potential early on, summoning an immense star which explodes brutally on impact with Marissa, the resulting exlosion confusing every Raider present. Her foes incapacitated, Hatterene chuckles, performing an intricate dance and bolstering her offensive potential...

The Raiders rally, looking to take swift advantage of their well placed status. Each in turn writhe with a haunting purple haze, a crimson eye manifesting from the darkness and spewing forth vitriolic energy which scathes the body of Hatterene. She wails in response, summoning a determined bulwark to protect against further assault - a wise move, as Brulee grimaces, his attack shearing through a barrier rather than landing on the intended target. Marissa fares worse, her confusion leaving her striking herself. Amused by this, Hatterene doubles down on the misery of the Dusknoir, smiting her brutally once again, though the Raiders are afforded brief fortune as Hatterene next targets Brulee, the Mimikyu shuddering at he close shave as his disguise is busted.

She had returned.

Once more, Jess and Pan found themselves face to face with the looming voluptuous figure of the Wicked Witch of the Well, leering down at the insect-like challengers before her. How many more times would the tenacious tentacle monster revive to wreak havoc on the land? Jess was beginning to lose count how many times they'd repeated this song and dance. Was it the result of recent negative energies drawing her back again? Or perhaps she was the true source of shadows...

At any rate, they were far from the inexperienced combatants they were the first time confronting such a fierce and fearsome opponent. By this point they had beaten her once before, and thus would simply do it again. Brimming with regained confidence over triumphant victory in their last encounter, the black candle stepped boldly out onto the battlefield and gazed directly up at the gargantuan foe without faltering. If it was another rematch she wanted, then he'd be more than happy to make it a best two out of three.

Eager to prove himself once and for all, Pan's flame burned bright as he cloaked himself in flames and slid straight towards the sorceress's skirt, clinging and catching the hem on fire. She shrieked in surprise as searing heat traveled slowly up the seams, bypassing any magic defenses - further crying out in pain as the group followed up with a consecutive series of strategic spells to amplify the scorched status. Hatterene hissed as she responded by raising a wall of shields to shelter herself, before striking back roughly at the Raiders - one of her attacks brutally targeting Brûlée the Mimikyu beside them. Pan watched in horror as his brother-in-arms from their first battle with the evil enchantress received the harsh blow with a wounded grunt; and while the doll's Disguise seemed to absorb the brunt of the assault, there was still a sickening crack as it collided, causing his "head" to roll and dangle lopsidedly at an awkward angle.

Pan glared angrily up at the cackling adversary, eyes flaring with rage as magenta malice swirled around his body, resonating with the band around his trainer's wrist. It had been a long time since Jess had taken advantage of any Dynamax opportunity afforded to her, but now seemed like the appropriate moment to avenge a close comrade against their shared nemesis, and to demonstrate the "growth" made over the past year. Though their first attempt at trying to match the malevolent mistress on for size had ended in abject failure, things would definitely not go the same way this time. With an acknowledging nod to her partner, Jess called out:

"Let's checkmate this Queen of Hearts! Dynamax and use MAX PHANTASM off of POLTERGEIST (110 BP)!"

With the bulwark having manifest, the Raiders determine to swiftly tear the walls down. Litwick gathers an immense amount of Dynamax energy into themself, growing to an immense size matching that of Hatterene. Dragapult meanwhile starts blasting, launching a primed Dreepy to deliver a scything cut, the shattering screen soon followed by another as Mimikyu darts forwards sneakily. Litwick rounds off the assault with a devastating Max Phantasm - but as the barrier falls, Dusknoir manages to strike herself, collapsing from the abrupt backlash. Perplexed that one of her foes did her job for her, Hatterene turns her attention to Dragapult, the unfortunate Dragon the one to be Smote this time round. A nuisance taken care of, Hatterene slams a writhing orb into the body of Mimikyu, the Shadow Ball not enjoyed by the diminutive cosplayer.

Despite her considerable confusion, Stella acts with a moment of clarity, her entire being becoming engulfed with a sickenign shadow. With a bellowing cry she discharges this energy towards the heavens, summoning a roaring tempest which consumes the surroundings. Looking to offset this dire shift in atmosphere, one of the Raiders cheers for the Dragapult, and the remaining trainers take this as a rallying cry. Litwick strikes with a wailing Max Phantasm, Brulee using this energy to fuel his own dastardlly attack - though the levied Hex smashes through a barrier rather than landing on the intended target. Disgruntled by this, Hatterene smashes first a G-Max Smite and then a coy Play Rough into Brulee, ending the Mimikyu for now.
