I'll post an official table of sorts as we go to see how things look in comparison to standard Kecleon.

Okay, I've made a quick spreadsheet to track all moves learnable by Kecleon normally, as well as by Fizzytopian Kecleon. The sheet can be found here.

Note that I've color-coded for quick reference. Red is learnable only by standard Kecleon, blue is learnable only by Fizzytopian Kecleon, orange is what is learnable by both, and white is what exists in that list to potentially be learnable by Fizzytopian Kecleon.

Feel free to suggest moves to be learnable on the TM/TR or Tutor lists, as well as any potential Egg Moves, but please note that when you make these suggestions we will need to look for moves to remove from Fizzytopian Kecleon's list.

Alright, my suggestions are as follows; Add Baddy Bad as an Advanced Move, add Burning Jealousy, Corrosive Gas, and Lash Out as MT moves, and add Dark Pulse, Payback, Poison Jab, Rage, Sludge Bomb, Sludge Wave, Superpower, Taunt, Thief, Throat Chop, and Torment as TM/TR moves, as well as MT moves where applicable.
  • Baddy Bad should be self-explanatory.
  • Corrosive Gas, Dark Pulse, Payback, Taunt, Torment, Poison Jab, Sludge Bomb, and Sludge Wave are moves to match Grinchleon's types.
  • Part of why the Grinch steals Christmas in the first place is, oh, the noise, noise, noise, NOISE! So yeah, a Dark-type move focused on causing silence? Throat Chop is perfect for this thing.
  • Thief. Tell me, please, tell me, that I don't need to explain this one to you. It even gets it by leveling up.
  • Burning Jealousy and Lash Out are fitting for the Grinch, and thus, Grinchleon. Also, both are moves that typically go to Dark-types anyway, with the latter being especially obvious for this due to STAB.

I might look at the list again to see if anything else stands out to me, but for right now, this is what I got.

The large majority of this list would be fine but we have to hard say no to Baddy Bad being natural on it.

Also we need to find appropriate moves to cut from Kecleon's move ocean to fit all of these.

Hard no for Baddy Bad. No AMs.

As for the rest of the list, that looks fine. Just remember we will need to be removing moves of the appropriate type to keep the move ocean at an equivalent pace. As for some egg moves, potential additions for Smelling Salts, Poison Gas, and potentially Heart Stamp? might work. Remove magic Coat, Recover, and Skill Swap since they don't really fit.

EDIT: In terms of mod stance, we're looking for moves that would fit the Grinch before Mary Lou Who grew the heart.

Had a feeling Baddy Bad might have had zero chance, but I had to at least give it a shot, y'know? Not gonna even try and force that one.

Seconded on these.

After about a half hour trying to puzzle through this list, I've come up with a few ideas. Additions are in Blue, cuts are in Red, and assume any TM's/MT's that are shared will apply to both. I'll come back and edit in more suggestions as they come to me, especially for Egg Moves since that can theoretically end up with anything.

LvL Up List
  • No suggestions yet!
TM List
  • Attract: I know basically everything gets Attract, but I think Grinchleon's exceptional repulsiveness should add it to the blacklist for this move.
  • Avalanche: Ice is a decent off-type for Grinchleon, and since the Grinch lives on a snowy mountaintop, this feels fitting.
  • Captivate: Same reason as Attract.
  • Embargo: This move prevents the opponent from using items, and this version of Grinchleon is Item Hate: The Pokemon.
  • Fire Blast,Flamethrower: Should be self-explanatory with the higher emphasis on Ice.
  • Hail, Sunny Day, Rain Dance: Related to Avalanche add. I think Hail makes more sense as an off-type weather move than Sunny Day or Rain Dance.
  • Infestation: Grinchleon's brain is full of spiders.
  • Pluck: Another stealing-focused move... this time for treats!
  • Solarbeam: Related to Sunny Day cut.
Tutor List
  • Signal Beam: This is about the closest to a Light-typed attack you can get. Grinchleon could use festive colors to bedazzle its foes!
  • Spite: Should be self-explainatory.
  • Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave: Related to Fire cuts.
  • Water Pulse: I don't know why Kecleon even has this to be honest.
Egg List
  • No suggestions yet!
Other Notes
  • "The Holiday Humbug Pokemon"?

Last edited by ShadowDRGN; 01-02-2022 at 06:15 PM. Reason: Crossed out "Holiday" in the name suggestion for posterity, just "The Humbug Pokemon" now

Ooh, right, Pokédex classification! The Holiday Humbug Pokémon, while I appreciate the alliteration, it... I dunno, just... it feels like more of a mouthful than it needs to. And I mean, some Pokédex classifications can be like that- Emboar being the Mega Fire Pig Pokémon comes to mind- but those are very much the exception rather than the rule. I'm gonna run a few ideas by y'all here...
  • The Mean Pokémon
  • The What Pokémon
  • The Rotter Pokémon
  • The Vile Pokémon
  • The Garlic Soul Pokémon
  • The Grinchy Pokémon

"The Grinchy Pokémon" should be pretty self-explanatory. "The What Pokémon" refers to how the Whos think of the Grinch as a What rather than a Who. And the others are all references to the song. If I had to pick my favorite of this bunch, ironically it'd be the longest of my suggestions (yet still not too long IMO), "The Garlic Soul Pokémon".

Gonna touch up on this by saying that Heart Stamp is not gonna be included, since that is much more thematic to Slash's entry than the winning one. So, probably need another egg move. Punishment might be a good shout here? Additional discussion on this would be appreciated.

Rest of the suggestions in terms of additions/subtractions will go under review and we'll try and propose a list for the community to vote on in the coming days

I'm assuming that Grinchleon is keeping its Field-only Egg Group designation? To wit, I don't think any regional variant, or even new evolution, departs from the Egg Group of its base form at any point, but some official confirmation would be nice.

Though it is a crying shame, because if Kecleon shared any Egg Group with Grimmsnarl I would absolutely advocate for Spirit Break as an Egg Move. What could be more perfect for a Pokémon all about trying to ruin the holidays? More to the point, though, I can't think of an Egg Move better than Punishment, but that being said, Lash Out would be a good Tutor addition if it hasn't been slated as such already.

Actually, provided your assumption about the Egg Group is right, I second Spirit Break. Hell, I third, fourth, and fifth it. This is FB- Grimmsnarl and Smeargle absolutely exist in the same universe, and Smeargle ensures that any Egg move is theoretically possible in the Field Egg Group.

Please discuss or vote if you feel this is good. We ended up trimming 48 moves, while adding in 44 moves. We tried to make it feel more like a tricky Grinch that heavily focuses on subterfuge and item manipulation, as well as some cool little nods to the movie. If there is anything glaring please let us know.

I have no serious problems with the move sets as it sits and recognize that asking for a heart-themed move may be a bit much. as such why not have it be Fizztopian Kecleon, "The Heartless Pokemon"

We explicitly are avoiding any reference to the heart or implementing Heart Stamp since we had another entrant whose concept was entirely based around that idea. Same as why all the non-wind-based Ice moves got caught.

Since Jaho has given approval and we've not heard anything else from the community on this, Fizzytopian Kecleon is now considered live. Post in the dex and addition to the bot will be done this weekend when I have time.

Which means it's now time to discuss Fizzytopian Falinks.

Grown in the colder and darker northern climates, these Falinks have adapted by blending in holiday trees and warming and lighting themselves by sapping the power from the decorations. While their feeding habits often caused higher electricity bills for tree owners, their presence is still welcomed due to their charming illuminations and soothing songs they add. When threatened, through precise teamwork, they sync up their flashing lights and singing to ward off their enemies.Their leader, called the conductor, waves its long, thin horn to direct and unify the movements, attacks and performance of the five others, named performers. The conductor also puts its shields together to form a book, using it for notes and instructions for their chanting.

Custom Move: Sparkling Hymn (Electric/Special/60 BP) A spectacular show of sparks and cheerful singing. Attacks all opponents, and has a 20% chance raising the user’s and its allies’ Special Attack by one stage.
Mainly here we just want a quick rundown of any community suggestions, and also need Okiku to provide an idea of what the color palette will be for a shiny (don't need full art, just a quick description of what colors are swapped out for the humpies).

Personally, feel like the movelist should get Rising Voltage and Helping Hand, since both are really thematic. Wish is another shout, since "We wish you a merry xmas" is a very, very cpmmong caroling song as well. Boomburst and Overdrive don't fit this thematically in the slightest, so they shouldn't br added as suggestions tbh

Doom Desire. All it wants for Christmas is you.

On a slightly more serious note, Follow Me should be somewhere in there.

I feel that Fizzytopian Falinks' level-up moves might need to be reordered. It seems to me like those moves don't correspond well to the level-up moves of Normal Form Falinks, and that the moves that Falalalinks learns by level up are ordered "differently" and seem like moves of an unrelated Pokémon. What I mean might be a bit unclear, so I'd like to give an example of a moveset that would correspond better to me, by reordering the moves. I don't necessarily want this order of moves to become the official order, since I didn't make the 'mon, but hopefully this gets the idea across.
Spoiler: show
My example order on the left and Normal Form Falinks' moves on the right for comparison:

1 Thunder Shock | 1 Tackle
1 Metronome | 1 Protect
5 Echoed Voice | 5 Rock Smash
10 Sing | 10 Focus Energy
15 Round | 15 Headbutt
20 Flash | 20 Bulk Up
25 Eerie Impulse | 25 Endure
30 Spark | 30 Reversal
35 Dazzling Gleam | 35 First Impression
40 Spotlight | 40 No Retreat
45 Thunder Wave | 45 Iron Defense
50 Sparkling Hymn | 50 Close Combat
55 Lucky Chant | 55 Megahorn
60 Perish Song | 60 Counter

I think Megahorn could be fitted in TM/TR moves, since Horn Drill is already in there. Considering Megahorn is a horn-based attack that Normal Form Falinks can learn, it would make sense to give Fizzytopian Falinks, who also has (have?) a horn, Megahorn as well.

I agree with Lit's post above, as well as with Ironthunder's point on Follow Me. Not sure if we're allowing Egg Moves on a genderless Pokémon, but if we are, then maybe add Follow Me to Egg Moves? Or, maybe even have it replace Spotlight and (if EMs are allowed) move Spotlight to Egg Moves?

As regards Level Up Moves: Sparkling Hymn feels...late. Like, glaringly late. Not that I'm advocating for the level up list to be completely reordered in strict or near-strict ascending power order, since that's generally not fun in the least, but it seems strange for a Pokemon whose flavor very explicitly involves singing to have its signature singing move come not only last, but at Level 60. That said, it's also not necessarily fit for anywhere below 20, or perhaps even 25 or 30, either, given the spread effect and boost chances. So I would consider swapping its current place with that of Eerie Impulse-especially considering that Fizzylinks learns most of its combat moves first, then leans into learning utility and other status moves in the back half, and this switch would bring the list even more in line with that paradigm. Also, since it explicitly drains electricity, I feel like Parabolic Charge could be slipped in somewhere.

As Regards MTs: Perhaps add Heal Bell (a lot of carols involve bells of some variety), Giga Drain as an approximation of Parabolic Charge if we can't fit that, and I third Lit's suggestions on Rising Voltage and Helping Hand.

As Regards TMs: I'll trust Okiku's judgment on most of this list, but I see a Pokémon with a noticeably protruding horn, whose base form learns Smart Strike, and I just instantly think that Smart Strike more than makes sense on it, especially since Flash Cannon is being given out to it as it is.

I am very late to this discussion, but to give my two cents:
  • Largely in agreement with most of the suggestions made in terms of Move additions. Seconded on shifting the Signature Move more toward the middle, rather than having it be a capstone.
  • In terms of Move cuts, there are a handful of TM/TR's that seem a bit out of place. Psywave comes to mind, as it's exclusive to Gen 1, and isn't a Normal staple like many of the other off-Type moves on here. Generally, most of the TM's that are universal in Gen 1 only don't seem to really add anything.
  • I would suggest adding Hail to the TM/TR list. While I would normally suggest cutting Sunny Day/Sandstorm, I think unlike Grinchleon, Christmas Caroling doesn't have to happen only in the snow. Who knows, maybe you have an Australian Falalalinks that likes to carol in the middle of a dust devil :p
  • Eerie Impulse feels like it could be swapped for a more thematic pick. Maybe Wish? Most Pokemon that got it received it around Level 30-ish before SwSh made it more of a capstone. Spark is already on-par with Eerie and comes in at 20, so personally I'd want this variant to have a little splash of support instead of more offense.
That's really about all I got. I hope this helps!
