Your views on mega evolution?

I like all mega evolution Pokemon a lot.

They're basically superhero forms for Pokemon, and came out at the time when the pubic conscious was obsessed with superheroes.

At the time I thought they were stupid, and I still think they are. They were nothing more than a side gimmick in the XY games but were shilled so hard in ORAS it ruined the taste of the games.

Like how would you feel if a remake of your classic IP (Star Trek, Ghostbusters, Dr. Who etc.) had an unnaturally forced, meta-relevant plot thread? That actively broke suspension-of-disbelief and gave you the sense you were being sold to?

Take this horrible ad is basically the ORAS experience in a nutshell. Players new to the world of Pokemon can just turn the video off at 1:48.

At the very least, some Megas had creative designs that could have easily been new evolutions instead. That made them incrementally better than Dynamax or Gigantamax which is the epitome of laziness.

I like the mechanic, and I like the Megas we have. I just wish it wasn't done so much for mons that didn't need it- looking at pseudo-legendaries and actual legendaries here (not Mythicals, though- Diancie gets a pass, it did kinda need something). Lots of legitimately statistically underwhelming Pokémon that could really use this. Farfetch'd, Luvdisc, your Pikaclone of choice, Arbok, Weezing... We need the main series games to bring this mechanic back, along with Z-Moves.
