Another ally down, this Torterra was definitely not going down without a fight. As well, the Araquanid on their team had initiated Dynamax, increasing their damage and barrier breaking output, but cutting them off from its area of effect protection via Wide Guard.
Oddly, Joan, despite her repeatedly slamming at the Torterra with her lances, was just being completely ignored. Perhaps it was just blind luck, or perhaps some form of divine intervention. With every round of attacks that seemingly actively avoid her, she seemed to me more and more confident, so that was good. She again continued to hone her lances, with increasing intensity. The massive vine growth erupting from the ground that felled their ally Alolan Ninetales did pique Sunny Dee's interest, though. A powerful, rarely seen Grass move well above her current capabilities in power, there's little wonder why she was so interested in it. She'd been too distracted by her rage at the weather fake out previously to have noticed the previous flurry's inclusion of said move. Darik could just tell she would be wanting to try to learn that move some day, even with its downsides for a Pokemon not driven wild by chaotic Dynamax energies on a Power Spot. He smiled to himself. He was just glad he hadn't brought her to a raid with the chance of seeing a Blast Burn in action. She'd never be able to let that go. For now, though, he'd just have to continue on the same path he'd been on with his Escavalier, continuing to hit hard and swiftly. "Joan," she nodded her iron-clad head. "You know what to do. Rush with yet another Megahorn." OoC: Megahorn (120 BP) Last edited by Slash; 06-16-2021 at 10:28 AM. Reason: RP |

What's that? Signs that Shields are most likely up already? Well then, guess we're just in time to throw in some Max Ooze (based off of Poison Jab; 90 BP) then!

Pondering over the situation at hand, Ethan deliberately waited until most of his teammate's orders had gone through. If he predicted this right, and had luck on his side, then this gambit would certainly give his team the upper hand. Though, using tech like this would basically mean he did nothing if it missed. And, well, there was a huge likelihood that it would for sure miss.
This technique, of course, was usually reserved for the Machamps of the world. With them being able to have the ability No Guard, accuracy wasn't an issue in doing this. Of course, this was the One-Hit Knock Out move strategy. A strange phenomenon when it comes to Dynamax Raid Bosses, if one such move managed to hit their shields, it would break two. The only other type of move that could boast that next to Max Moves. "And luck be have it... We have one such move at our disposable," Ethan vocalized his mental musings. "Alrik, Sheer Cold!" ---- Let's see if we can cheese some of the shields with a Sheer Cold (???BP)

Dangerously thickened icicles hurtle into the toughened exterior of the mighty beast, prompting a visibly distraught reaction - which only enthuses Escavalier, the Bug type recklessly racing forwards to deliver a brutal Megahorn. Not long after the onslaught prompts more shimmering barriers, Araquanid promptly shattering two. In a stroke of blind luck, Cryogonal unleashes an intensely concentrated Sheer Cold, managing to cleave through two screens in one fell swoop. Left tenuously close to the brink, Torterra roars - and with his fury comes retribution. An Earthquake rips through the surroundings, felling two Raiders at once, before a Max Quake explodes beneath Sandslash and further bolsters the rampaging tortoise. Cryogonal is subject to a surging Giga Impact before finally, mercifully, Sewaddle is assaulted by a move they tank with aplomb. Dynamax initiative: Median Dia, Araquanid

He couldn't help but chuckle, their gambit paying off. The Torterra was furious that the Sheer Cold hit, and left its defenses wide open. With the Ninetales back on the field, and with her hail, this was surely their best chance to just completely beat down the gargantuan tortoise. This was getting dangerous, and if they provoked it further it could mean a complete wipe. With all of the conditions met, it was once again time to cut the turtle into ribbons. There was no need for unnecessary displays of grace or skill here; all they needed to do was take down the raid boss. And thus, it was time to, potentially, finish the battle with the same move the duo started it with. "Alrik, use Razor Snow!" Ethan ordered, and the Cryogonal complied. Once again creating razor-sharp snowflakes, the gigantic snowflake sent them out in a wave. Even if the move didn't completely cut the boss into ribbons, it would at least further its nasty frostbite. --- Razor Snow (55 BP doubled in Hail)!

Terri smiled her satisfaction as the last traces of Dynamax Energy left the Premier Ball. This, she knew, was her cue to get her Alolan Ninetales right back in on the action, and so, with a toss of said Premier Ball, she did just that. "Once more! Ava, engage!" Terri exclaimed as the Alolan Ninetales emerged yet again, looking as good as new, not a hit point out of place. And as was the case last time she entered the fray, the weather started to change, almost without Warning, the irritating sandstorm giving way to hail and Snow, a weather far more well-suited for the gathered group of Pokémon who were in on this fight, and far less well-suited for their opponent. A good thing any which way you slice it- certainly one hell of an upside to Ava having been knocked out previously!
Terri gave no commands just yet, however- the shield was still in place, and she knew good and well that her role in this lay outside the realm of merely helping to break through it. She watched wordlessly as her allies busied themselves with that role, though she tilted her head curiously at the Shadow Dragapult. The decisions its Trainer seemed to be making weren't making a lot of sense to her. Just after being healed up, they had gone for Shadow End, a move with such brutal recoil that it basically undid Terri's kind gesture immediately. The Dragon Darts made more sense, at least, but considering it was doing this to finish off the shield, leaving the Sewaddle to hit the Torterra itself with Bug Buzz, even though Torterra currently had greater Special Defense than Defense... it didn't add up to Terri. And yet, she did not dwell on it. Why would she? After all, nothing that was going on here was really jeopardizing their chances of victory, at least not as far as she could see. Perhaps the Trainer merely knew well enough to know when their chances were good enough that a meticulously thought-out strategy wasn't necessarily required. That all was fine and good- Terri just found herself hoping that this sort of thing didn't someday end up being the reason for actually losing one of these raids someday. But, more to the point, that Dragon Darts had in fact shattered the shield. Torterra was completely exposed, and it was time to focus more on hitting it, hard and fast, while its defenses were in the toilet. Particularly on the physical side. With any luck, she reasoned, they might even beat it with this round of attacks! Ava glanced back at Terri, albeit not until after the shield had shattered, having come to the same conclusion as her Trainer almost right away. "Now?" she asked, despite pretty much knowing the answer already. And sure enough, Terri nodded. "Now," she confirmed. "We're getting there, Ava, so use Triple Axel once more!" Terri commanded. And with graceful, beautiful movements and solid kicks, Ava gladly complied. OOC: Ava used Triple Axel (20 BP; hits three times; second hit is 40 BP; third hit is 60 BP) |

The Torterra was running roughshod all over the move frail members of the raiding party. Joan had gotten hit by a powerful Earthquake as well, but unlike two of the others who had been hit by the move, she was able to shake it off fairly well. Still, it was definitely something that could be problematic if she got hit my another. The boosted Torterra was quite a physical force to be reckoned with. Its other strikes thankfully passed without incident.
Joan munched on her Leftovers to restore some health as she recovered from the hit. She braced herself for her next strike. lances at the ready Dee's sour attitude was getting even worse, as the sandstorm had dispersed only for a hailstorm to overtake it. Darik laughed a bit to himself, as she blasted more Fire out of her floral face. She was still very young and impatient, so used to getting her way. She'd mature with time. He hoped, anyway. While she hadn't gotten to see another Frenzy Plant, there was some variety, with a powerful Leaf Storm getting thrown out. For now, though, there was still more damage to do, and there were the Torterra's protective barriers to handle. Joan was focused and ready to re-engage, brandishing her lances at the giant turtle. "Okay, Joan, we know what we're about here. Let's charge with another Megahorn!" OoC: Megahorn (120 BP) Last edited by Slash; 06-24-2021 at 06:11 AM. Reason: RP |

Raid Boss Torterra ★★★★ Health Gauge: 8% Shields Up: 0 Status: Rain Dance (4), Frostbitten, Atk +2, Def -4, SpAtk -3, SpDef +2 Raiders: Aurora Veil (1) KOs: 7 Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Rock Slide (75 BP) Lil'twick, Cryogonal: 0 HP Attack 2: Max Quake (130 BP) SpinyShell, Sandshrew Alola: 0 HP Attack 3: Giga Impact (150 BP) MM, Ninetales Alola: 11 HP Attack 4: Giga Impact (150 BP) Enigma, Sandslash Alola: 0 HP Raid Challengers Lil'twick, Cryogonal: 0 HP [Fainted, fully recovered next round] MM, Ninetales Alola: 11 HP CCK, Vanillite: 300 HP [Fully recovered] Yuki, Sewaddle: 175 HP SpinyShell, Sandshrew Alola: 0 HP [Fainted, fully recovered next round] Slash, Escavalier: 173 HP Median Dia, Araquanid: 185 HP [Dynamax expired] Enigma, Sandslash Alola: 0 HP [Fainted, fully recovered next round] raves, Darmanitan Galar: 300 HP [Fully recovered] Zelphon, Shadow Dragapult: 136 HP Sensing the end is nigh, the Raiders tear down the remaining bulwark protecting Torterra from impending doom, their fallen comrades cheering ecstatically. Stella takes careful aim, discharging a well timed Dragon Darts - and as the walls fall, the dam bursts. Attack after attack comes hurtling towards Torterra, each landing with painful precision and soliciting booming rage from the tortoise... and for a moment it seems the day is won. Torterra staggers under the brunt of the assault, but just as he seems he is about to collapse, his eyes burn with hatred. Having failed to put their quarry down, the Raiders are subject to blistering retribution. A crushing Rock Slide fells Cryogonal, a Max Quake takes out Sandshrew. Ninetales finds herself crushed under the brutal weight of a Giga Impact, barely managing to remain in the fight. Sandslash is not so lucky. Dynamax initiative: Expired

The attacks hammered Torterra, hitting it hard. Ava's Triple Axel was but the tip of the Bergmite- Torterra was taking huge amounts of damage on all sides, to the point where when the dust settled, it was truly astonishing to see it still standing. And what was more, Torterra did not look about ready to let this latest onslaught go unpunished. A devastating Rock Slide, hitting some of the Pokémon hard, Ava included, and outright knocking out the Cryogonal. A Max Quake, powerful as ever, knocking out the Alolan Sandshrew. And to round off the entire fiasco, two back-to-back Giga Impacts, no recharging to be seen. The first one slammed Ava for massive damage, and the other one picked off the Alolan Sandslash.
"Ava! Are you OK?" called Terri, though even as her voice sounded, the Alolan Ninetales unsteadily got back up. The beautiful Ice/Fairy-type looked battered and weary from the Torterra's attacks, and by this point, she didn't look willing to just stand there and take them quietly. And then came the beam of Dynamax Energy, straight from the Trainer of the Alolan Sandshrew. It struck Ava, creating a brilliant effect as it healed up the caster of the Aurora Veil that had been keeping the fight from getting even more insane than it already was. No longer looking weary, tired, or dirty, Ava stood strong, her nine fluffy tails billowing out behind her beautifully as though she was standing against a powerful gust of wind. Standing strong, in direct and outright defiance of Torterra's best efforts to take them all down. And while she had spared a moment to give a grateful smile to the Trainer who had helped her heal up, the glare she was currently directing at the Torterra was colder than any frigid attack she could muster. Not quite the levels of fury incurred by anyone who might be fool enough to grab one of her tails (which were levels of fury Ava sincerely hoped she'd never be driven to- part of her was surprised enough by her reaction to this much as it was!), but nothing to take lightly all the same. "I am more than OK," Ava said in response to Terri, calmly yet with unmistakable confidence. "And I will be better still once we have accomplished what we've set out to do here in the first place, for I grow tired of this brute's persistent rampaging. If you would please issue the command, Terri?" she requested. Terri smiled and gave a nod. "Ice Shard, go!" she exclaimed at once. The beautiful Alolan Ninetales cracked the smallest of smiles. She hoped very dearly that her pride as a Ninetales would never get to the point where she would start taking her Trainer for granted. She recalled, all that time ago, when she and Sunny had first met Terri and joined her team, Ava had been uncertain about her. And now, Ava knew, this had easily been the best decision she and her sister had ever made. OOC: Ava used Ice Shard (40 BP; increased priority). Last edited by Missingno.
