Paras reeled from the attacks of their three opponents, spluttering with hatred. Losing! It! How dare those Digletts! It gathered up the energy for another attack, but Cy called out to it.

"Not yet, Paras! We have a... stronger option." Paras didn't like the sound of that. Its Trainer had crazy ideas about battling that involved not violently dismembering the opponent. But he usually had fair reasons, and he had done well to keep Paras alive and strong so far... Paras clicked its mandibles and turned to its Trainer. Cy held up his left wrist to show the band on it was glowing with bright reddish energy. This meant nothing to Paras, who was already getting impatient. It could already have launched an explosive at one of those stupid moles, and watched its stupid giant face blow up. It tapped a claw on the ground, waiting for Cy to do something as he fiddled with its Pokeball. Suddenly a beam of that same red energy came sizzling through the air straight towards it! An attack! Paras cried, flinching away from the beam. But there was Cy again, waving his hands in a calming gesture. Humans had stupid hands. They weren't even sharp. What good were they? Paras realized the beam had hit it, but wasn't doing any damage. "That's healing energy, from one of our allies." Cy called, as if that mattered or meant anything. Paras glanced over at the source of the beam - some Trainer, obviously. But next to her... It knows you. Different now... but it knows you were human whose creature it fought. Nasty burning thing. Was other mushroom yours as well, human? Strange mushroom it was... Paras squinted at the Trainers as the beam stopped. It shook itself, dismissing the thoughts and memories that were bubbling up from the depths of its dark mind. Back to the fight. The Diglett's attacks must have been weak - it already felt less injured now, ready to start dealing damage.

"Paras! Return!" That was Cy, ordering it... back into its Pokeball? He held out the Cyber Ball, which opened up, and Paras simply stared at it. Cy sighed and repeated the order, but Paras stood unmoving. This was the craziest thing its Trainer had ever tried. Retreat! At a time like this! Cy tried one more time before closing the ball again, and Paras turned away from him, triumphant. No more interruptions! It would finally have revenge on the Digletts!
Something thwacked against its left mushroom and Paras barely had time to furiously whirl around before it was sucked back into its ball.

"I hate doing that." Cy muttered as he scooped up the Paras' Pokeball. Throwing the Pokeball - it worked, sure, but was usually reserved for catching a Pokemon, not recalling one. He tossed the ball into his left hand and held out his arm, watching as the energy from his Dynamax Band flooded into the Cyber Ball, turning its usual green lights to red. The ball split in a gridlike pattern, expanding in every direction until it was almost too big to hold in one hand. Cy heaved it back and threw it with all his might, sending it far behind him and the rest of the raiders. With a flash and a whoosh of energy, the ball snapped open and a tornado of crimson light shot out of it, whirling up and out and around to form into the shape of a huge bug. The red faded into a glowing aura, and the newly Dynamaxed Paras' eyes shone like twin soulless moons.

THIS POWER... INCREDIBLE! IT WILL TEAR THIS BATTLEFIELD APART! Paras would have laughed maniacally if it could. It felt strong, stronger than ever before, strong enough to crush mountains, strong enough to live forever! It heard its Trainer call out a move, but there was no use. Paras was far too strong now to be ordered around! (Conveniently, however, its plans and Cy's happened to line up at that moment.) It slammed its claws into the earth, gathering energy, before firing off the most powerfulMax Overgrowth it could muster!

YES... ALL ITS ENEMIES MUST COWER NOW! IT IS UNSTOPPABLE!Paras thought, stomping one of its feet and gleefully watching the ground crack.

TL;DR Dynamaxing and using Max Overgrowth off of Seed Bomb(80BP).

With one of the battling pokemon downed, the raiders waste no time in striking hard, recognising the threat the moles pose as they assail the shields. The Paras is given a much-needed health boost courtesy of the cheers of the Masters, and the bug's trainer takes the opportunity to unleash the insect's dynamax potential, the bug swelling to great size and impatiently biding its time, waiting for the shields to fall, and as the Inkay's Leaf Storm blows forth, boosting its power even further, the bulwark broke as the dusty mole is left completely helpless, taking three powerful blows including a Max Overgrowth from the dynamaxed Paras that causes grass to sprout from the earth, ensuring any further tectonic activity is severely hindered.

It is too much for Dusty to handle as the mole cries out and the dynamax energy seeps from it, the Diglett fainting as it slinks into the soil, to the horror of its two allies. Turning with a deathly stare, Seedy and Healthy unleash a forceful shockwave that strips the raiders of their stat buffs as Carnivine suddenly flops unceremoniously to terra firma, its levitation ability negated for the next turn. While this seems to also hinder the Diglett duo, neither of them bother to capitalise on it much as Seedy gives a cold stare at the raiders before giving them the cold shoulder, literally. Taking the Mimicked move into account, a chilly icy wind gushes over the raiders, with Dewott standing firm in front of Petilil to spare the poor grass type a chilly reception, but both Tangrowth and Carnivine protest the super effective move while the double weakness is far too much for the already weakened Rowlet to withstand, the bird collapsing from the frigid gusts. Healthy meanwhile slams forth with another max move, this time a mighty Max Quake that shatters the Inkay and leaves it teetering on the brink, the squid at least thankful for the soft healing grass beneath it. Alas, the sandstorm blows once more and yet again strips the last vestiges of stamina from the battler, knocking Inkay out before it can recover ever so slightly from the terrain, though the terrain does undo the sand damage for the others as Vanillite returns to the field.

Dynamax Initiative: Sixdragons, Paras.

It took a while, a while in which Cy managed to Dynamax his Paras and get it to actually do what he wanted it to, but at last, the Dynamax Energy did its job, and left the Ultra Ball in Willa's hand, signaling that its occupant was fully healed. Willa gave a small nod in response to this, then threw the Ultra Ball once more. "Vanillite!" she declared as, in a flash of light, the cunning Casteliacone copycat emerged, energy renewed, looking good as new.

"Vaaaaaanill!" Vanillite exclaimed triumphantly, though the Ice-type still scowled at the trio of Dynamaxed Diglett before him.

"All right," Keith grinned. "Now we'll get some real work done- eh, Willa?" he added.

Willa's eyes had found the Rowlet's Trainer, whose Grass and Flying-type was currently recovering, and she had started to look somewhat guilty, which was what Keith had picked up on. "...the Rowlet went down to an Icy Wind," she murmured quietly. "The move that that one Diglett had copied with Mimic, from Vanillite..."

Keith put an arm around his wife. "No sense in blaming yourself for that," he said gently. "Ice moves make perfect sense to use against Diglett. Who could've expected one of them to use Mimic? You almost never see that. That was Diglett's strategy, and you can't always predict an opponent's strategy. Hell, a lot of the time, an opponent will rely on their strategy being unpredictable, right?"

Willa took a deep breath. "...right. You're right," she nodded. "Thank you," she added, with a small, appreciative smile. Keith's only response was with a smile of his own, and the couple maintained eye contact for a moment before Vanillite's sharp cries commanded their attention. "Ah, right," Willa nodded. "My apologies, Vanillite. Now let's show Diglett what we can do!"

"Va nill!" nodded Vanillite enthusiastically.

Maribel said nothing during all of this, but her eyes remained on the Paras. Unlike with her parents, this raid battle was her first time seeing this specific Paras. And now that it was Dynamaxed, she could more clearly see the Paras's eerily blank eyes. Like what one would see on a Parasect- hell, like what Maribel had seen on her dad's Parasect. But to see it on a Paras was not something one expects to see. It didn't scare her- hardly anything ever did- but she regarded it with curiosity all the same, remembering what her parents had just said about feeling sorry for it. She figured it might be worth asking what the story was with that Paras later on.

Willa, meanwhile, had seen another shield go up before the mountain range of Diglett, but gave her command nonetheless- no shame in helping to break such a thing down, right? "Attack! Mirror Shot!" Willa commanded, gesturing forward to the powerful barrier, just after a powerful Max Overgrowth from Cy's Paras did a lot of damage to it.

"Vaaaaaaaa... NILLIIIIITE!" Vanillite trilled. Light gleamed off of his snow and ice, and seemed to gather in a ball before him, and Vanillite, with aforementioned loud cry, sent said orb flying at the shield.

OOC: Vanillite used Mirror Shot (65 BP).

As a team, they broke past the barriers, and were able to land a few very effective moves on the trio of Diglett. The Paras's trainer had even taken it upon themselves to tap into the Dynamax energy to give a severe boost to its Grass STAB, as well as set up a terrain of grassy growth. That would help keep the Sandstorm's residual damage at bay, as well as increase the power of the team's Grass-typed moves. Their blows were so powerful, in fact, that one of the Diglett found they could no longer handle it, getting the buildup of Dynamax energy and the consciousness knocked out of it.

The two remaining Diglett let off a powerful shockwave to cancel the status changes the team had started to build up. Then, as predicted, it called upon the move it had Mimicked previously, letting out a burst of Icy Wind, headed entirely at some of the Grass typed Pokemon in the raid squad. Landstar, seemingly moving without even thinking about it, launched himself on an intercept course between the wind and the closest Grass Pokemon, taking the resisted blow for the Petilil. He was always the heroic sort. Unfortunately, the blast was too powerful for the Rowlett, who Landstar couldn't have reached, and he fell. Between the follow-up Max Quake and the sandstorm's wrath, their Inkay ally fell as well.

The conscious members of the team gathered themselves again, preparing for another round of combat. "Lo? Po li po?" Caprina bubbled from his arms. She really seemed to have a one track mind when it came to bubbles.

"No, girl, still not quite yet. But soon. Trust me." He'd seen enough of these raids to know there was a second set of barriers that would pop up, likely soon.

She pouted, popping her bubbles harshly. Slash understood. She really just wanted to see the bubbles. But he wanted them to have an impact when he finally pulled that particular trigger. She would appreciate the delayed gratification, later.

"Okay, Landstar," he called out to his heroic Dewott, "let's keep it up with another Aqua Tail!"

OcO: Aqua Tail (90 BP)

With two teammates down the raiders take the two remaining moles as legitimate threats and swiftly counterattack, capitalising on the sprouted grassy field to lay two mighty Power Whips on Seedy, leaving the mole teetering on the brink as they swiftly erect a second barrier wall, most of which is swept aside by the raiders on full force, and as the Diglett shudders from the Leech Seed, Seedy follows in Dusty's footprints and calls it quits, shrinking to regular size as the seeds pop off and intrinsically find themselves attaching to the flank of Healthy, in a manner that defies all logic. As the name suggests however, Healthy is not to be taken lightly.

In a tremendous show of defensive bravery amid the sea of moles around the raiders, the single dynamaxed digger spits forth a large globule of noxious poison that spatters all over Petilil, and the poor plant's propensity for absorbing energy bites her in the rear as she sucks the toxins from the bomb and ends up poisoned, though the residual healing seems to be counteracting the poisoning for now. The mole then follows up with another Max move, this time of the aeronautical variety as it slams Paras with a doubly effective powerblow the zombie bug manages to tank fairly comfortably, before finishing up by tossing a faceful of hot sand into Carnivine's face, the flycatcher not at all pleased with what must be their first experience of being hit with a gorund-type move as the seal on abilities wears off and the chompy one returns to floatation following one more buffet of sand and shmmer of energy as the two fallen pokemon return to the fray.

Vanillite and the others were able to make a serious dent in the shield. It was getting worn down, slowly but surely. And then, the Dynamaxed Paras let loose its final Max Move for the raid battle, a third forceful Max Overgrowth that shattered the barrier once and for all, a most welcome sight to the Pokémon Trainer family behind Vanillite. And to the Vanillite itself, for that matter. "Nillite!!" he cheered.

"Yes! Its shield is down!" cheered Maribel.

"And Vanillite didn't get hit at all, either," Keith remarked- indeed, with the various attacks those Diglett had used, none of them had cost Vanillite so much as a singular hit point. "This is looking pretty good so far."

"Indeed," Willa nodded. "Though with the move I am considering, I'm wondering whether your point about Vanillite not getting hit bodes well..." she added, sounding the slightest bit nervous.

"Yeah, that's a fair point," conceded Keith. "If you're thinking what I think you're thinking, I think that's a fair thing to think of. I think."

Willa chuckled at this. "I think so, indeed," she nodded. "Avalanche is potentially our best bet here, but it does rely on those Diglett deciding to attack Vanillite in the meantime..."

Vanillite was looking up at the assortment of Diglett. "Vaaaaanill!" he cried out. "Vanill, Vanillite!!" And he turned to look back at his Trainer, and scowled as he saw her looking indecisive. "NILLITE!" he screeched impatiently.

Willa blinked. "Right," she nodded. "I apologize, Vanillite- I'm overthinking this. It should really be a simple matter, should it not?"

Vanillite grinned and nodded in response. "Vaaaaanillite!" he declared, sounding very much ready and raring to go.

Willa allowed herself a slight grin of her own. "Then we'll show it what you can do," she stated. "Avalanche, let's go!"

"Vaaaaanill!" exclaimed Vanillite, closing his eyes and focusing his energy. Nothing would happen, at least not yet- but, as Vanillite had demonstrated earlier in the fight, patience was a virtue, and one that tended to get results. All it needed was to take just one hit. One hit, and then the deluge of snow it would unleash would be even stronger. It's a strange thing to think about, sentient ice and snow getting all fired up, and yet, one needed only to look at Willa's Vanillite, and suddenly, it just might not seem so strange anymore.

And in the meantime, all three of the Masterses were keeping a wary eye on the Diglett trio. Why were there three of them? Just sheer coincidence? Right place, right time? Or, wrong place, wrong time, depending on your point of view? Was there a plan at work here or were they just making it up as they went along? As wary as they all were of the whole situation, however, they couldn't help but be intrigued as well- a situation like this was very much unprecedented, after all, and they were interested to see just where this would go. Vanillite, on the other hand, was decidedly less interested in the why, and decidedly more interested in the winning.

OOC: Vanillite used Avalanche (60 BP; Negative priority; power doubles if the user takes a hit in the same turn before attacking)

The raiding squad had recovered. Something about these Power Spots seemed to cause rapid health regeneration for Pokemon in PokeBalls, because a short stay inside and the allied Rowlett and Inkay rose back up, refreshed and ready for battle. The Diglett duo became the Diglett uno, as one of them shrunk and fell as well, leaving just a single one to deal with. It did have a couple of those odd barriers in front of it, still, but the raid ally who had Dynamaxed his Paras seemed to have that handled before it would shrink back down to a smaller, though still extremely murderous, size. This would clear the way for the rest of the raid squad to fire off their respective attacks.

Given the common trend he'd observed from these raids, after the barriers were disposed of, the Max Raid boss would be more vulnerable, and there were always two rounds of those barriers. Once they had blown past these, there shouldn't be many speed bumps afterwards, and the hyper offense strategy would generally be the best one. It was tantamount to rolling a snowball down a steep hill by that point. Or, in his case, a bubble. They just needed to fully capitalise on the opportunity.

"Po? Po po! Li po po?" Carina asked from his arms. She was clearly getting impatient waiting for the bubbles to come out.

"Yes, girl. It's finally time." It was probably wholly unnecessary, but it would be fun, and he knew Caprina was really looking forward to it from the moment he'd told her Landstar had picked up this new move. She'd probably harass him about it until he found a way to teach her the move as well. And while it would probably take awhile to do so, he knew he'd definitely do his best to help her reach that goal. He found it hard to really say no to her. Some day, her spoiled attitude would get her into more trouble than she could deal with... some day, but not today.

"Okay, Landstar," Slash called. Landstar nodded, knowing what was coming. "It's time to show off our secret weapon. Dazzle everyone with your Bouncy Bubble!"

Caprina went wild, hearing this. She started clapping and barking and blowing her sparkling bubbles.

OoC: Bouncy Bubble (90 BP)

grassyglide, Rowlet: 280 HP

Attack 3: Fissure (Cheeky Git BP)

Carnivine avoided the attack using Levitate!

The sandstorm subsided!

Raid Challengers

Zorchic, Carnivine: 141 HP {Coba Berry (Flying resist)}
SpinyShell, Inkay: 300 HP (Fully recovered)
grassyglide, Rowlet: 280 HP (Fully recovered)
Connor, Tangrowth: 175 HP (Ingrained)
Sixdragons, Paras: 168 HP
Slash, Dewott: 300 HP {Black Belt (+2 to Fighting moves)}
LBC, Petilil: 247 HP (Ingrained, Poisoned) {Miracle Seed (+2 to Grass moves)}
MM, Vanillite: 0 HP [Must wait 1 Round to recover]

One Diglett remained, and with one final primitive screech the last two barriers are obliterated by the dynamaxed Paras, leaving the solitary tunneler wide open to blistering assault, a barrage of lashes and sapping liquids raining down upon the raid boss while Vanillite bides his time, daring the Diglett to try and hit him again as he readies an avalanche.

Singleton obliges. Brutally. With the sandstorm waning, the mole taps into its sandy force once more to utterly blast the Vanillite for most of his health with a tectonic eruption of immense force, before slamming into the soil and delivering a fitting avalanche of its own upon the raiders, with Rowlet once more merciful as the rocks finally shatter the Reflective barrier and reducing the impact of the boosted move as his allies are buffeted too, but Vanillite is wiped out once more by the boulders. With another knockout but victory not as secure as first anticipated, the mole decides to be cheeky and attempt to drop someone into an all-too familiar Fissure, and the attack connects as the raiders brace themselves!

Carnivine idly hovers over the gaping maw, not entirely sure who the raid boss was aiming at, and gives a shrug as his natural ability returned to him just in the nick of time as the swirling sand finally dissipates, leaving the giant open as it stares at the group sheepishly, as the flow of other Diglett begins to slow down just a little bit.

Dynamax Initiative: Expired.

  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • When issuing an attack, please state the attack's unbuffed Base Power (BP).
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but $250 may be collected for responses of 250 words or greater, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Sunday, 27th June to place your order.

...well, then. Vanillite had dared the Diglett to hit him, and... they certainly obliged. The Max Quake made all three Masterses flinch as they saw Vanillite take it. The Ice-type was still conscious by the end of it, but shockingly, not by all that much. And then, as though to rub salt in the wound, the subsequent Rock Slide finished the job that the Max Quake started, robbing Vanillite of his last few precious hit points. "Vaaanilll..." he groaned feebly as he lay on his back, totally knocked out.

"...what?" Willa said weakly.

"Mom, the sandstorm!" Maribel spoke up, just before aforementioned weather condition proceeded to subside. "The Diglett must have Sand Force!"

"That'd certainly explain it," Keith nodded. "Those attacks hit really hard, and Ground and Rock are two of the types boosted..."

Willa nodded wordlessly. Her daughter was certainly qualified to recognize Sand Force, considering her Hippowdon had that Ability, and it certainly did explain how Vanillite was taken down with such absurd ease. She held out the Ultra Ball at the unconscious heap of ice and snow. "Return now, Vanillite!" Willa declared, withdrawing the Fresh Snow Pokémon, managing, in spite of the sheer unexpectedness of the situation, to keep a steady hand as she aimed, and thus the recall beam hit its mark on the first and only try.. And then, for the second time that day, Dynamax Energy started to swirl around the ball in Willa's hand, working its magic and healing the ball's occupant.

Following this, Willa looked around at the various Pokémon also fighting on their side- she did, after all, have the power to heal one of them, so it made sense to use it, even if it seemed as though the fight was drawing to a close. And her gaze soon fell upon the same Paras as before. And even as she turned to look at her family, she could see Keith and Maribel turning to look at her, having also been looking at said Paras. And a single shared nod between the three said all there was to say here; there was no question as to what to do here. Healing up the Paras might not have any real practical use here, considering it was highly unlikely the Diglett were gonna get to attack again, but if it would help to reinforce what Willa had been hoping to convey the first time she healed Paras, then she'd gladly take that. She took aim with her Dynamax Band, and a bundled beam of Dynamax Energy flew forth from the Wishing Star, sent with intent of healing up the Paras once more.

Meanwhile, within the Ultra Ball, a certain Casteliacone copycat started to come to, started to realize just what had happened, between the Max Quake and the Rock Slide robbing the Ice-type of every last hit point it possessed in almost insultingly quick fashion. At that exact moment, Willa couldn't help but think she felt the Ultra Ball wobble in her hand ever so slightly...
