Hoarfrost Vorago Raid Battle 1: VS Sneasel
Raid Boss Sneasel ★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: None. Raid Challengers Connor, Mawile: 300 HP {Black Belt (+20% to Fighting moves)} Raves, Kricketune: 300 HP Zephlon, Falinks: 300 HP Slash, Weedle: 300 HP As the raiders arrive within the windy confines of the Chasm, a gargantuan Sneasel stood before them smugly prepared for battle. The winds whipped up into a frenzy as the battle was about to start, nipping at the trainers and their pokemon and causing a loud howl to reverberate out through the chasm. With the raiders choosing their partners, Dynamax energy seemed to start filling up the area with an eerie red light, swirling around a Kricketune, filling it up with tremendous energy. It was now time to fight. Dynamax Initiative: Raves, Kricketune

Such a weird name for a gym, PJ thought, seeing the sign for the Hoarfrost Vorago Gym. The name had something to do with some sort of frost, that PJ really didn't understand, and his uncle had told him that second word, Vorago, could mean a kind of abyss or chasm, but also could refer to a mighty and powerful monster. Regardless of the name that always looked spelled wrong, this was a new Gym, a newly uncovered Power Spot, and that meant the Dynamax energies had a new place they could go out of control and cause issues. And one such issue had arisen, so soon after the Gym had opened, a new Dynamax challenge to face.
Standing tall, the Hoarfrost Vorago's debut Dynamax problem for them to face was a Sneasel, sharp claws glistening. PJ took a Friend Ball from his vest and tossed it out, sending out his Weedle. The small, hairy bug was not well-experienced, but he had a horn and knew how to use it, and hopefully that would be enough to win the day, with a little help from the other raiders on the team. "Let's put that head to use, Weedle!" PJ shouted out. Weedle nodded, lightly jingling the Soothe Bell around his neck. "Use Megahorn!" Raid Boss Sneasel ★★★ Health Gauge: 77% Shields Up: 0 Status: None. KO Count: 1 Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Darkness ( 130 BP ) Raves, Kricktune; 110 HPAttack 2: Blizzard ( 110 BP ) Connor, Mawile; 164 HP Raid Challengers Connor, Mawile: 164 HP {Black Belt (+20% to Fighting moves)} ( - 1 SP.Def ) Raves, Kricketune: 0 HP ( Must sit out one turn to recover ) Zephlon, Falinks: 119 HP ( - 1 SP.Def ) Slash, Weedle: 119 HP ( - 1 SP.Def ) Sneasel seemed to have a gleam in its eye after the raiders launched off their attacks, and followed up the barrage of damage with a STAB Max Darkness, Striking the Kricketune which was the only to not attack. Sneasel was living up to its savage nature, for then after the raiders pokemon's SP.Def dropped from the max move it unleashed a bone-chilling blizzard striking all but the Mawile for neutral, but STAB boosted and stat affected damage, taking everyone down a peg, and unfortunately the Kricketune down for the count. With the First Knock Out, the pressure was on, Hopefully the raiders could come out on top in time. Dynamax Initiative: Slash, Weedle

After three of the raiding Pokemon went full force on the Sneasel, and the fourth set up a Focus Energy to boost itself for later, the Dynamax Raid Boss wasted no time in retaliating. Darkness gathered around it as it struck that fourth Pokemon, the Kricketune, with the Dark Max move, Max Darkness. The energy released with it also washed over the other three raiders as well, lowering their specially defensive capabilities. Following up very quickly, the Sneasel capitalised on the stat debuff by exhaling a large Blizzard of wind, ice, snow, and freeing rain, the wide ranged attack blowing over all four of the raiders, inflicting a massive same-type blow. None were as affected as the Kricketune, however, as combined with the earlier hit, it was too much for the musical bug to handle. It fell, temporarily unconscious. Weedle and an allied Falinks were also not looking to be in too great of a position either. Only the Mawile, from whom PJ got some oddly dog-like vibes, seemed to not be suffering from that blow all too much, likely due to resisting the blow.
The wishing star on PJ's Dynamax Band lit up as the Dynamax energies swelled around PJ. He'd never really used the ability to Dynamax before, and it seemed like it was probably a good opportunity with good timing for him to try it for himself. He knew the process well enough from having watched others do it, at least. He had his PokeDex on hand in case he needed to look up any specific Max move names, though he was pretty sure he would be able to recall any that were vital. especially with as sparse as his Weedle's movepool was. He called Weedle back into his Friend Ball, and activated his Dynamax Band. The ball increased in size considerably. PJ had to use both hands to toss the ball back out. The now enlarged Weedle burst out of the ball, clouds above his head. "You know the strongest Bug move, Weedle, so let's make it stronger! Use that as a basis to perform a Max Flutterby!" Raid Boss Sneasel ★★★ Health Gauge: 68% Shields Up: 1 Status: None. Stat Drops: ( -1 SP.Atk ) KO Count: 2 Raider Healing Summary: Raves, Cheering to heal Slash's Weedle: 269 Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Phantasm ( 120 BP ) Connor, Mawile; 24 HPAttack 2: Snarl ( 55 BP ) Connor, Mawile; 0 HP Raid Challengers Connor, Mawile: 0 HP {Black Belt (+20% to Fighting moves)} ( Must sit out one turn to recover ) Raves, Kricketune: 300 HP Zephlon, Falinks: 119 HP ( - 1 SP.Def ) ( - 1 Def ) ( - 1 SP.Atk ) Slash, Weedle: 187 HP ( - 1 SP.Def ) ( -1 Def ) ( -1 SP.Atk ) ( Dynamax: 2 turns left ) The Raiders switched gears in response to the surprising fainting of the Kricketune and Chose to take advantage of the Dynamaxing energy. With Weedle growing larger and larger, Kricketunes trainer cheered, using their residual Dynamax energy to heal the enlargening Weedle. Mawile took advantage once more and launched another powerful attack at the Sneasel, causing it to grow annoyed and throw up a red set of barriers encasing it behind a protective red glare. With Weedles transformation complete, the giant bug launched a Max Flutterby which tore through two of the shields and lowers the Sneasels Special Attack. This didn't seem to bother the Sneasel as it launched its counter-attack, Striking the Mawile hard with a Max Phantasm, lowering all of the raiders Defenses and bringing the Mawile dangerously close to fainting, then letting loose a Snarl which hit all three. With the Special Attack drops of their own, Mawile falls unconscious as Kricketune rises back. How will the raiders handle this ever-growing threat!? The Dynamax energy gathered in PJ's wrist-mounted wishing piece filled Weedle's Friend Ball as he returned the hairy bug Pokemon to it. The energies caused the ball to grow massive and reflective, difficult to hold in one hand. PJ uses both arms to fling the ball out, letting the now Dynamaxed Weedle out onto the field. During this time, his raider allies had pushed the Sneasel to the point of erecting its shield barriers. This was exactly the opportunity they'd been wanting, a chance to slam those shields. Bug energy erupted from Weedle, slamming into the shield and bursting into a flight of beautiful butterflies.
The Sneasel's retaliatory strike was no joke itself, though. Ethereal energy shot out from it, smacking into the Mawile, leaving it weak and the defensive prowess of the entire crew compromised. The Snarling wave it followed up with was a wide blow, hitting them all, further compromising the battle statistics of three of the Pokemon, special attack this time, and dealing the death blow to the Mawile. This was quite a sticky situation PJ found himself in. The Dynamax storm energies were really starting to swell up, becoming a massive threat. There wasn't terribly much PJ could do here, though. Weedle had few tricks up its silky sleeve, basically just pure offense. His current state did enhance that, but while those shield barriers were up, those had to be his first priority. "Weedle, let loose with another Max Flutterby fueled by your Megahorn!" PJ called out to his now not so little buddy. Raid Boss Sneasel ★★★ Health Gauge: 58% Shields Up: Status: None. Stat Drops: ( -1 SP.Atk ) ( -1 Def ) ( -1 SP.Def ) KO Count: 3 Raider Healing Summary: Connor, Cheering to heal Zephlon's Falinks: 300 Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Hailstorm ( 130 BP ) Slash, Weedle; 0 HPAttack 2: Swift ( 60 BP ) Raves, Kricketune; 240 HP Raid Challengers Connor, Mawile: 300 HP {Black Belt (+20% to Fighting moves)} Raves, Kricketune: 240 HP Zephlon, Falinks: 240 HP ( - 1 SP.Def ) ( - 1 Def ) ( - 1 SP.Atk ) Slash, Weedle: 0 HP ( Must sit out one turn to recover ) With the red shields down the raiders press on taking full advantage of the defensive stat drops to strike once more, However, the Sneasel lashed back out just as hard. This time taking down Weedle with a Max Hailstorm and then unloading upon the remaining two raiders with sharp Swift Stars that struck true despite the hail and moving targets. All raiders present noticed that the Dynamax energy seemed to grow more and more rampant, whipping around the hail and causing the whole den to glow an increasingly brighter red... this doesn't seem to be good and the raiders need to beat this... and fast Dynamax Initiative: Slash, Weedle (Expired)

Once again, Weedle cracked into the shields with its powerful Max Flutterby, a move PJ was incrasingly becoming a fan of. With the shields down and the Sneasel now more exposed, the two conscious raiders laid into it hard, though not bringing it yet to its second wave of shields. This was concerning. They still had some serious work to do against this boss, and they were at such a disadvantageous position here. The Sneasel called upon the power of winter, directing a Max Hailstorm at his target, which happened to be Weedle.
"Weedle, no!" PJ cried out as the bug stumbled and fell back. He glowed as Dynamax energy seeped out of him, leaving him unconscious on the frigid ground. Hail started to fall as PJ recalled Weedle to his Friend Ball. Luckily, these power spots seemed to have miraculous healing effects upon Pokemon when they were in their balls, and hopefully he'd be back in the fight soon, but the swelling storm of Dynamax energies was growing ever stronger, almost too strong to withstand. As if taunting, the next move from the Sneasel was a fairly weak move, though another wide spread one, swift stars sailing across the ground to hit the two remaining conscious Pokemon. This was bad. He'd never experienced it before, but he knew from what he was told that another Pokemon on their side falling could cause the dynamax storm to grow so bad they'd all be expelled from the den. If that happened, heaven only knew what kinds of danger that would represent to their surroundings, and especially the people and Pokemon in the area. He had to make sure to do his best to prevent such an issue from happening. There wasn't much he could do in this position, though. No shields were up, so his cheering, empowered by the power spot's energies, couldn't break any. All he could do was direct it at an ally to help give them healing. They hadn't been damaged much, since it was really just the Swift that had been thrown at them, so his cheer wouldn't do terribly much. The Mawile was getting back up, so it was completely fresh. The Kricketune had risen pretty recently as well. But the Falinks... while they had taken the same amount of damage as the Kricketune, they had also suffered from the secondary effects from previous waves of moves, with lowered stats. They would probably need the help the most. If they could bear out through just another couple rounds, they may just be able to pull through on this and pull a rescue in this situation. PJ took a dep breath, gathering his determination, and shouted out. "Go, Falinks! Do your best!" OoC: Cheering to heal Falinks Last edited by Slash; 08-21-2021 at 04:09 AM. |

The cheering seemed to help the Falinks, and with even better luck, they didn't get hit at all this time around. The Mawile did, with a fortunately resisted Double Hit, dealing very scant damage, and the Kricketune was also targeted for a move. Thankfully, it wasn't one that would deal damage, merely Taunting it into continuing to attack. At this point in the fight, it was likely full offense was all they could do anyway, so it shouldn't hinder them any. On top of that, the raider group had dealt a heavy blow to the boss, even getting into the second round of Dynamax shields. That still falling hail was definitely a scary prospect, though. That residual damage could do just enough to cause even some weaker moves to close enough of the gap to take them down.
The return button on the PokeBall PJ was holding lit up with that same red of the Dynamax clouds, indicating Weedle had been sufficiently restored. Any single Pokemon on their side getting knocked out just one more time would push them past the danger threshold and make the Dynamax storm blow out of control. The only way to make sure that didn't happen was to fell this boss before then, and it still had a couple of those odd energy barriers up. But maybe, from the moves it was making, the Sneasel was beginning to come to its senses. Maybe, deep inside, it wanted to be beaten, because it knew the danger it could pose to others if they didn't win here. Although perhaps that was wishful thinking on PJ's part. The shields were at least what should be the final set, and it would leave the Sneasel more exposed. A couple allies were already positioning themselves to break those shields. If the Sneasel was trying to hep them, that would be the best opportunity to capitalise. PJ tossed the ball back out, releasing Weedle onto the battlefield once more. "Now that you're back up, let's push even harder!" PJ called out. "We're in a rough spot here, so I need you to put your all into another Megahorn, Weedle!"
