Backstory
Born to a long line of clothiers, Goto has spent much of his life working as a designer and tailor alongside his mother. She was a true master of the craft, who put every ounce of her soul into every set she made, turning even low-quality fabrics into beautiful works of art. A good skill to have, operating on a tight budget in a bad part of town for much of their professional career.

Though times were tough, the shop slowly grew into a small company with a few employees. From there, the company eventually broke into the wider market, becoming a true giant in less than 10 years since their production line first expanded.

Though this brought much prosperity to Goto's family, it also meant that his mother's magic touch was lost when she could no longer hand-make each garment that left their shops. Their products were wildly popular and high-quality, but they also felt like they were just that: Products. Lacking heart and soul, something that Goto had come to respect greatly.

Wanting to recapture that essence of beauty, or perhaps create a new aesthetic to fit the direction he would take the company when he gained the reins, Goto decided to travel the world as a Trainer, to find something evocative within the heat of battle. Pokemon of all shapes and sizes, he thought, held the key to was looking for.

When Hatchley was little and still living in Galar, his favorite thing in all the world was to come home from school just in time to catch the next Pokemon League match live. Like most kids his age, Pokemon Battles were his entire world. He had merchandise from all his favorite Gym Leaders, a DVR packed-full of recorded matches. Drawings of matches both real and imagined taking up more space in his binder than his Maths work.

But there was one thing that set Hatchley apart from the rest. He wasn't tuning in solely for his own entertainment, but because there was someone to root for above all else: His older sister, Rhinea; a prodigal Dragon Tamer, whose fierce style overwhelmed and annihilated her opponents in spectacular fashion.

It seemed for a time that nothing would stop Hatchley from cheering her on the hardest. Moving across the ocean to Unova failed to keep him from tuning in, even though the match airdates had crept into his school hours. Not even the announcement that Rhinea would be fighting some of his favorite Trainers in the whole League would waver his support for his sister.

No. It was never Hatchley that gave up cheering on Rhinea; It was the rest of the world.

"Breaking news! Circhester Stadium has been evacuated following the outbreak of a fire within the stands! Footage from the Pokemon Battle that was underway shows challenger Rhinea's Salamence going on a rampage!

Pokemon League officials swiftly pulled the broadcast after the incident occurred, but no statement regarding the outage has been issued. We here at UNN will continue to bring you live coverage as the situation unfolds!"

The news of her official disqualification from the League hit Hatchley hard, but it had a profoundly negative effect on their father. Having worked in the medical industry for most of his life, he had never truly approved of his daughter's choice to become a Dragon Tamer, and this incident cemented his dislike for Pokemon Battling as a whole. No matter how much Hatchley pleaded with his dad to give him a Pokemon, he was always told the same thing:

"You saw what happened to your sister. It's for your own good that you never go down the road she did."

And yet, the young man that grew up admiring his sister, and believing in her innocence no matter what, would not take no for an answer. As the years passed, he studied, honed his body, and saved up what little money he could make in order to prepare himself to be a Trainer All he wanted was to prove to his father that he was ready.

Then, on his 18th birthday, his father unexpectedly handed him a Poke Ball. The memory has been etched into his memory for a lifetime. The weight that rested in the palm of his hand, not just of the lacquered metal, but the companion that rested within; His father closing the boy's fingers around the ball, leaning in close to give him a hug, and whispering to him:

"Your mom's keeping your room exactly how you left it. She doesn't think you'll be gone long, either."

Moving across the ocean to Unova failed to keep him from tuning in, even though the match airdates had crept into his school hours. Having worked in the medical industry for most of his life, he had never truly approved of his daughter's choice to become a Dragon Tamer, and this incident cemented his dislike for Pokemon Battling as a whole. No matter how much Hatchley pleaded with his dad to give him a Pokemon, he was always told the same thing: "You saw what happened to your sister. He must be only a few months old by the time I'm writing this, but he acts like the worst kind of toddler. He's crazy strong. I can't hold him back from doing whatever he wants.
