Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
A chilly breeze rustles through the tall grass of the Mansion's Forbidden Garden. The skies are overcast, giving the impression of darkness, though in reality it is only mid-afternoon. In the air is an aura of fear, sending chills down the spines of even the most seasoned trainers.
Two trainers trudge their ways through the overgrowth, occasionally requiring to untangle themselves from a vine that they find their foot ensnared in. Every once in a while the trainers swear that they saw something lurking in the grass, but the moment passes and the suspicions are left to linger in the minds of the two who plan to do battle here... Eventually the two reach their places at opposite ends of the battlefield. Tall grasses cover the 40 by 40 meter area designated as the battlefield, with small bushes interspersed throughout. Several gnarled trees lie at the edge of the field, the remains of what was once a beautiful patch of garden. [center:3d2tf4xe]Shadowshocker vs. Psychopath Beginner Trainer Battle 1 on 1 Battle Return= KO 72 hour DQ The Haunted Mansion's Forgotten Garden[/center:3d2tf4xe] The referee walks up and takes his position at halfway between the trainers and pulls a tarnished silver coin from his pocket. "All right, gentlemen, our battle will be one versus one, with a recall of the Pokemon obviously resulting in your forfeit. A 72 hour disqualification time exists: if you fail to post within the allotted time, your opponent may claim victory." Going through his mind to remember if there's anything else to go over, the referee continues. "Now, we'll determine the battling order. Shadowshocker, you will be heads; psychopath will therefore be tails. Good luck to you each." Tossing the coin up into the air, the referee steps back a bit as the silver glints in the low light. "Heads," the referee calls out as he bends over to retrieve the coin. "Since this a one versus one battle, each trainer will send me their choice of Pokemon via private message with their attacks for the first round. I will referee the round, and Shadowshocker will post first to start the second round." "Also, I'd like to remind you to please be familiar with the Attack Descriptions as well as the rules that must be followed. Good luck to you each, and let's get started." Let's see if rust shakes off as easily as I'm hoping.

The forms of a Pachirisu, aptly nicknamed Thunderfuzz, and an Umbreon, nicknamed Factor, appear amongst the tall grasses of the garden. For a few moments, the only sound is the light rustle of the wind, but soon the trainers call out their orders. Shadowshocker calls out, "Factor, bring down the opponent's statistics first with Sand-Attack! Then freeze them up with a chilling Blizzard!" Almost simultaneously, psychopath orders, ""This time no armor, just Quick Attack and Bide." The Pokemon rush into action to carry out their trainers' biddings. Factor turns away from its opponent and digs its hind legs into the ground, kicking up an amount of the topsoil in an attempt to get an advantage over Thunderfuzz by impairing its vision. Meanwhile, Thunderfuzz had prepared itself for a moment before rushing forward, a trail of white energy following it as it crosses the field. Unluckily for the electric type, this causes it to run directly into the Sand-Attack. Letting out a small yelp from the pain of the attack, she does nonetheless manage to complete her attack, her momentum carrying her forward into the dark canid for a light hit. Thunderfuzz begins to rub her eyes to attempt to remove the foreign substance, tears rolling down from the irritated and reddened eyes. Factor takes advantage of this momentary lapse in the action, its rings almost seeming to lighten as it charges up ice energy. Thunderfuzz, content with the progress it had achieved in removing the dirt from its eyes, turns to look at Umbreon, having to settle for a blurred picture. Recalling its attack orders, Thunderfuzz begins to prepare itself to Bide; however, before she can even initiate the process she is rushed by a blizzard of snow, sleet, and hail, leaving the area of the garden near the squirrel covered in white. Psychopath looks onward with concern, and is clearly disheartened to see the result of the Blizzard. It seems as though it had frozen parts of Thunderfuzz's left arm, hampering mobility slightly. After this first round, Shadowshocker seems to have earned an edge over his opponent. Thunderfuzz has taken a heavy hit already, but its breathing is very light, having expended only a small amount of energy. On the other hand, Factor has taken only a slight hit, though its breathing has already become somewhat labored - Blizzard is not a natural attack for an Umbreon to use, and it will find it rather difficult to use ice attacks in the future. Thunderfuzz's vision has more or less returned to normal. Shadowshocker, your attacks please.

Re: Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
Smirking at its less-than-able opponent, Factor again turns its tail to it, preparing to again hamper its vision with a Sand-Attack. Knowing what's coming and remembering the pain of only seconds before, Thunderfuzz concentrates a moment before it tries to Quick Attack out of the way. It does manage to dodge most of the soil which the dark type kicks up, though its side gets hit by a small amount as its speed was hampered by the added weight of the ice, but luckily for Thunderfuzz it doesn't strike its eyes.
The two Pokemon stare each other down for a moment before they begin their next moves. Thunderfuzz looks deep within itself to find its well of fire energy which rockets out of its mouth in the form of a Flamethrower, while Factor does the same with grass energy, forming a moderately sized ball in its mouth which flies across the short distance between the Pokemon. The flames and Energy Ball meet halfway, and the powerful energy attacks mostly negate each other as flames are thrown in all directions, singing the grass and melting the majority of the ice. After all is said and done, and the steam clears, it appears as though small remnants of the attacks made their way through, Thunderfuzz taking light grass damage while Factor takes light fire damage. After that round, both Pokemon are looking a good bit more tired. Factor has again used energy of a type he is not accustomed to, but it was less than last round's usage and he still has gas in the tank. He took only light damage again this turn, and is looking great overall on health. Thunderfuzz, on the other hand, used a large amount of energy this round as well, though it still has more in its reserves than Factor. However, it has taken significantly more damage from the Blizzard than Factor has from the Quick Attack from last round and the remains of a Flamethrower, though it still can take more.

Re: Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
Acting quickly to keep up the momentum of last round, Thunderfuzz concentrates a split second before jetting forward, white energy trailing it as it makes its way up to Factor. As Thunderfuzz glows bright with yellow electrical energy, Factor yet again turns its back to the rodent, preparing to kick up dirt to hamper the attack. As the topsoil flies through the air and lands on Thunderfuzz, there are clear signs that the electricity is being weakened by the insulate, but nonetheless Thunderfuzz charges forward into Factor, the electricity being transferred between the two and delivering a moderate shock the dog as its fur stands on end.
But what's this? Factor seems to be having difficulty moving as electrical tendrils continue to course through its fur - it seems as though Factor has been moderately paralyzed! Factor struggles to fight through the paralysis and complete its attack orders for the round, and it seems as though it's succeeded! Factor's mouth opens slowly as green energy particles condense around a central point, creating a ball of grass energy which flies straight into Thunderfuzz's side, doing some good damage. After this round, Thunderfuzz's health reserves are starting to become a concern. It has taken another powerful hit, and repeated injury may result in fainting sooner than one would like. Energywise, it burned a moderate amount this round, and it seems to be doing ok. Factor, on the other hand, took a moderate hit this round, though it looks good on health overall, and has some lingering paralysis to deal with. Also, its breathing is sounding heavier, and will likely have difficulty using too too many powerful energy attacks in future rounds.

Re: Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
Factor grits its teeth as it attempts to fight through the paralysis, looking as though it is exerting great amounts of energy with minimal gains as it works to move toward Thunderfuzz. Thunderfuzz, smirking slightly at its opponent's misfortune, opens its mouth and growls loudly, attempting to intimidate the Umbreon. However, Factor seems to be only minimally affected by this, due to Umbreon's advantage in the battle at the moment. Factor, however, seems to remain to have difficulties with its current nervous situation, and its attempt at a Tail Whip fails.
Thunderfuzz takes the initiative then, opening its mouth and kindling its fire energy into a jet of flames which scorch the grass as they envelop the defenseless dog of doom, flames completely surrounding it. Factor cries out in pain, but it seems as though the flames have done wonders for its paralysis, the heat helping to loosen its muscles nicely. Factor takes advantage of this newfound movement, rushing forward and striking the electric squirrel for a solid hit with its Tackle attack. Thunderfuzz expended another good amount of energy this round, and will have difficulties using fire attacks in the future. It took a good hit this round but it's still hanging in there. Factor used almost no energy this round, but did take a good bit of damage from that Flamethrower. However, it still holds a considerable health advantage over Thunderfuzz.

Just a realisation... wouldn't Factor's Synchronize ability have triggered earlier?

Re: Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
Sorry about that, completely forgot about the abilities. Though looking over the round, most of the paralysis would have been dispelled by Factor's Energy Ball, though that was my bad so sorry about that. :/
Thunderfuzz takes the initiative this round, concentrating for a moment before its white fur glows crimson, preparing to Bide its time. Factor takes advantage of the lapse in action, rushing forward and slapping Factor with its tail, doing some moderately light damage to the squirrel. Factor then turns around and again kicks up the soil, taking advantage of Thunderfuzz's position to send a cloud of dust at it, its eyes watering as it calls out in pain. Factor backs off and turns back toward Thunderfuzz and waits - after a few moments Thunderfuzz's aura disappears as it directs an extremely thin beam of energy in Factor's general direction, though because of Thunderfuzz's visual predicament she has difficulty aiming, and it misses. Not that it would have done much anyway. Thunderfuzz takes to furiously rubbing its eyes, its vision returning somewhat before it growls in the direction it sees the dark shape of Factor's body. Factor looks minorly hesitant to attack, though it looks as though the Growl didn't have the full effect that Thunderfuzz or her trainer would have liked. Stats are basically the same as last round, with Thunderfuzz having used a small bit more energy than Factor.

Re: Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
As this battle comes nearer and nearer to its close, Factor again turns away from Thunderfuzz, preparing to hamper its vision. However, Thunderfuzz has other ideas and runs out of the way of the soil, its tail being nipped somewhat but it doesn't have any effect. Thunderfuzz then turns around and starts to glow with bright yellow energy as Factor seems to disappear as it turns completely black and sprints toward Thunderfuzz. Thunderfuzz begins to run toward Factor as well, the two Pokemon meeting about halfway. Factor takes some moderate electrical damage, though it is thankfully not paralyzed, while Thunderfuzz takes some light dark damage.
Factor used very little energy this round, though it took a good hit. It's still decent on health, however. Thunderfuzz, on the other hand, used a slight bit more energy than Factor this round, its breathing deepening. It took a slight amount of damage, though it's still nearing low on health.

Re: Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
Thunderfuzz glows a dull crimson as it prepares to bide its way through Factor's attacks. However, Factor quite obviously can't care less as it turns tail and again kicks up a cloud of dust and dirt, striking the immobile squirrel directly in the eyes. Unable to do anything, Thunderfuzz's eyes begin to water profusely as Factor repeats the motion, more irritants entering the squirrel's eyes as Factor backs off a bit and turns to face its opponent. Eventually the red energy fades - an almost invisible ray of light is sent off in the completely wrong direction. Not that it would have done anything anyway.
Choosing to attack rather than wait for its vision to return, Thunderfuzz opens its mouth widely and sends a jet of conflagration in the direction it thought Factor was. However, in a stroke of bad luck, it misses by only inches, the flames continuing on to catch a nearby bush on fire, the vegetation providing an eerie torch in the gardens. Thunderfuzz used a good amount of energy this turn, its breathing becoming more labored and it looks as though fire attacks will be very difficult to pull off. It took no damage this turn, however, and it can make out a rough shape of Factor, the bush's light helping. Factor is basically the same as last round.

Re: Beginner Trainer Battle: Shadowshocker vs. psychopath
Even with its excessively hampered vision, Thunderfuzz seems to be able to see a dark patch against the light of the blazing bush, giving it a rough idea of Factor's position. Not quite sure exactly where to run it decides to bolt in a random direction, and it does seem to have worked as Factor's Sand-Attack flies past it, not striking the electric type. Factor frowns slightly as it turns around at the failure of its attack before it closes its eyes, muttering a short chant in Umbreon-speak. Almost at once it seems to perk up, its energy reserves having been raised slightly. It opens its eyes just in time to see Thunderfuzz dashing towards it, coated in bright blue electrical energy. The Sand-Attacks of last round seem to have done some good for Factor as Thunderfuzz doesn't hit the dark dog completely, brushing its side and allowing the electricity to flow from its body to Factor's. Factor then seems to become rigid suddenly in its right side, partially paralyzed. Factor's rings then glow an intensely bright yellow and its eyes glow magenta, before Thunderfuzz cries out in pain, its right side seeming to be partially paralyzed as well.
Thunderfuzz used a moderate amount of energy this round, its energy reserves falling. It won't last too much longer if it continues expending energy at this pace. It took no damage this turn, however. Factor, on the other hand, regained a small amount of energy this turn, breathing slightly less heavy than last round. However it took a decent shot to its health this turn, though it's still looking moderately ok on health.

"Close your eyes until you hear the Growl. That'll avoid the visual effects of Charm and you won't have much to fear from a weaker opponent. Then when you feel up to it, use a Tackle from Pachirisu's side that'll send her tumbling towards the burning bush!"
