With each group having handily defeated their first foe, everyone stands one step closer to facing Shadow Arceus. But before each group can continue, a choice lies before them - to keep the Pokemon they have come this far with, or to capture the foe that they had just defeated and press onwards with this new Shadow Pokemon? Atop that, each group finds a small pile of items before them, having been left by the Shadow Pokemon just now defeated, that may be of use in the battles to come.

At this time, all Pokemon will be elevated to level 30. Level based evolutions, as well as evolution of all baby Pokemon may occur at this point if the owner wishes. You may also choose to swap your current Pokemon with the Shadow Pokemon your group just defeated (which will also be raised to level 30 and allowed to evolve if meeting these pre-requisites).

Each Pokemon may now also learn one additional Egg, Tutor, Machine, Advanced, or Shadow move to add to their movepool. Swapped Shadow Pokemon may learn up to the amount of special moves as the rest of the existing raiders, and may learn Shadow Moves up to the amount they would know at the current level.

Each trainer may also choose one item from the pile left before them, to be equipped to their current Pokemon. Note that this item exists only in the Growing Shadows raids and cannot be used elsewhere.

Ethan watched the Shadow Axew fall, exploding into a brilliant purple smoke. The Pokemon shrunk down, knocked out by the Munna's Glitzy Glow. The group all had the chance to take it with them, or at least what seemed to be a shadowed clone of it. The island was becoming more and more twisted. The corruption from Arceus's closed heart was warping the island, with it getting worse the closer to the center. Whatever threats were ahead were only going to get more powerful than this Axew.

He then looked back towards the Noibat, who was dragging his wings across the floor. With every step, a grimace of pain. Every bob, a small wince. Even if they miraculously healed, the emotional scarring never would. This bat would have flightless wings, no matter what fate had in store for it. But, the bat did have a sharp eye and spry feet and jumped towards the pile of items. Moving them around with his mouth, the Noibat didn't find anything of use for himself and looked towards Ethan.

"Nothing then Icarus?" Ethan questioned. "Figured, with our luck."

With a look of disgust, Ethan kicked the defeated Axew. Closed heart or not, complete brutality had no place on the battlefield. Every action, sound, and movement had to be calculated. One wrong move and you lost, but there was no point in indulging in wanton hedonism. Strength was more than power, it was also wisdom and cunning. It was about slowly breaking someone, or something until total control was achieved. That was what victory was about. Completely control until one side had to yield. And he never yielded.

Waving off his small group, Ethan forged ahead with the Noibat. They soon found himself in a clearing, seeing a group of four converge with him and the two behind him. Lucky Seven. Well, if that was what the case was, then surely a little luck was in their future. Especially with the surge of power he felt. Icarus, and the rest of the Pokemon, were stronger now. And even some hidden potential had come through.

Ethan pulled out his Rotom Phone, and re-analyzed Icarus. Lv. 30 now, and it had learned the Techincal Record Hurricane.

"Isn't that ironic," Ethan stated to the Noibat, who was timidly standing at his feet. The Noibat looked up towards him and gave him a nod. It looked like his wings were a little stronger still, maybe enough to flap but not fly.

The man just nodded, unnatural yellow eyes piercing through his new comrades. He wry, almost unhinged smile crept onto his face as he analyzed the three paths in front of them. A Flying Pokemon, a Fighting Pokemon, and a Steel Pokemon. Based on the Pokemon currently with them, the Fighting Path would allow them to dominate the boss with ease.

"Well everyone, I'm throwing in my lot for the fighting-typed Pokemon. We'll have the best advantage against it, mind the two Solrock are able to use their minds effectively," Ethan stated to the group. He then saw a flash of blue in his mind's eye.

"Fomalhaut..." he whispered under his breath. It seems their influence was also growing stronger.

---

Keeping Noibat, whose level is now 30. He'll be learning TR Hurricane.

Voting for the Fighting Path.

"Hey, Epoch..."

Elijah tried to make sense of the scene that surrounded him. One minute, he was staring down a massive Stufful, the next he was kind of standing around awkwardly as the rest of his group—as well as the very impulsive Pawniard that he'd chosen earlier—effortlessly beat down the fearsome bear until it suddenly shrunk down to a size that seemed befitting of the plush Pokémon.

"...what the hell just happened?"

"????????"

Even if Epoch was man-made, it still spoke in weird computer-speak that Elijah couldn't understand; however it was pretty obvious that it was just as confused as he was. He couldn't exactly tell why, though; sometimes he got the impression that the Porygon knew way more about Pokémon training than he did, so something interesting must have happened. Maybe it was the sole woman on the team kind of giving him more than a passing glance, or maybe it was the other guy somehow holding a conversation with his bug Pokémon that Elijah never really got the chance to scan with his Pokédex.

"Uh, me too, bud. At least it's over now, I don't know if I could stand running into another one of those guys."

As if on cue, the Pawniard that had been standing in front of him traipsed towards the downed Pokémon, spread some kind of powder that Elijah couldn't make out on its blades, and sprinted down one of the paths in front of him, leaving an astonished Trainer in its wake.

"Oh, you're kidding me—HEY! WAIT UP!"

Elijah dashed after "his" Pokémon while motioning for Epoch to follow him. The Porygon instantly complied with a look of determination on its crudely modeled face—a sign that the Trainer took as the fact that it trusted him just as much as he did to his starter.

---

sticking with the pawniard, heading down the psychic path, giving him the silver powder, and adding lash out to his moveset

I swear I'll get all of my RP done eventually!

In the meantime, I'll swap out my battered and bruised krabby for the Shadow Pikachu (who might be a bit crabby?). Declaring Iron Tail and Splishy Splash as her special moves, Shadow Down, Shadow Panic, Shadow Shock, Shadow Half, and Shadow Shed as her Shadow Attacks, Lightningrod as her Ability, and Magnet as her held Item.

Maybe some roast bird from the Flying Path will cheer this lassie up?

Diana breathed a weary sigh of relief as the Gible went down, then turned back to face Marv's camera, professional demeanor right back in place. "My allies and I have successfully defeated and driven off the Shadow Gible that impeded our path," she spoke into her microphone. "It looks as though several items have been left behind by Gible. Whether this is pure accident or a deliberate effort to help us remains to be seen, but either way, it is clear these items may very well be of use to us down the road."

"...aand, cut," said Marv. "Great battling, Diana," he said with a small smile. "I only wish I could have gotten in on it myself."

"I appreciate that, Marv," Diana smiled. She looked down at the Illumise she still cradled in one arm- the Bug-type was looking a lot more at ease now that their first shadowy obstacle had been dealt with. "And thank you too, Sweet," Diana said quietly. "The moral support you offered can't be overstated."

"Illumiiii~" Illumise smiled in response.

Marv smiled at this, then smiled at his own Pokémon. "Thanks to you guys as well," he said softly. "Bright, both for the moral support and the lighting- it's been flawless so far."

"Bebeat," Bright grinned modestly- his Tail Glow had been doing its job, carefully angled and positioned so as to provide Diana with the best possible lighting. This was second nature to the Volbeat by now.

I suspect the way forward won't be the easiest, came Steakknife's voice into Diana and Marv's minds. I can't really make out what exactly lies ahead, but the emotions I'm picking up on are... not the nicest.

Diana nodded. "I wouldn't think so," she said seriously. "Any idea what might lie ahead at all? Like, anything you might be able to pick up on that could help in some way?"

All I can sense at the moment is a faint glimpse at types, came the Ralts's reply. One is a Flying-type, one is a Dark-type, one is a Normal-type.

Well, Flying's not a good call for Passimian there, Diana murmured, looking over at the Fighting-type she'd been teamed up with. The Teamwork Pokémon looked ready to go, and was even practicing what Diana realized had to be a new move for it. "...is that Focus Blast?" she murmured.

"It appears so," Marv remarked, marveling at the brilliant blue sphere of energy the Passimian was charging up. And finally, Passimian launched the technique into the sky above, grinning, pleased with itself.

"Very nicely done," Diana smiled as she approached Passimian. "And the timing couldn't be better- we're likely to go up against a Dark or Normal-type up ahead, so that move'll surely come in handy."

"Pass, passim!" Passimian grinned back.

Diana nodded, then held out the ball and withdrew Passimian, the better to let the Fighting-type rest up for what was to come. "Marv, prepare the van. I'll convene with the others," she stated.

"Right," Marv nodded, already heading back into the Channel 110 news van. Diana, meanwhile, approached the other Trainers in the group, whereupon a discussion on what to do next ensued, in which Diana voiced her support for the notion of heading towards the Normal-type. After that, she headed towards the small pile of items, and claimed a Black Belt for Passimian to wear, the better to power up that new move it had gotten.

OOC: Sticking with Passimian and claiming a Black Belt to give it to hold. Voting for the Normal-type path.

*Passimian was elevated to level 30!*

*Passimian learned Scary Face!*

*Passimian learned Take Down!*

*Passimian learned Bestow!*

*Passimian learned Thrash!*

*Passimian learned Fling!*

*Passimian learned the TM move Focus Blast!*

Great job so far, Stonjourner! I'll stick with you for now, and we'll take the Black Belt to boost your Focus Blast. Now to see what everyone else has... hmm, I do see a couple of Pokemon that are new to me, so let's check them out first:

Farfetch'd, the Wild Duck Pokemon. Often wielding a plant stalk known as a leek, some individuals of this Pokemon have been seen holding other sticks and tree branches as temporary replacements when they have eaten their leek out of desperation. Farfetch'd prefer to hold on to their leek and use them as a tool for making a nest or as a weapon against other Pokemon. Sometimes fights break out between Farfetch'd over these leeks, especially between males as those with the best leeks attract more females. It defends its leek with its life as it relies on the leek for everything. Currently, this Pokemon is regarded as an endangered species due to it being a delicacy in some regions.

Baltoy, the Clay Doll Pokemon. Baltoy is confirmed to have lived in ancient times; although the true purpose of their existence with those civilizations cannot be confirmed, it is speculated they were kept as a form of entertainment for children. This Pokemon is able to move around by spinning, and it stands on its foot in a precarious looking balance, even when it is sleeping, though they have been known to stand on their heads on occasion. Sometimes they can be seen gathering together in large groups and talking loudly all at once, mostly in old graveyards and various ancient tombs.

Ooo, plus there's another Stonjourner and a Pawniard too... We could probably handle all the routes in front of us, but let's try for the Psychic route since we have a few Pokemon that could deal with that type!

Level Up! Stonjourner grew from Lv. 15 to Lv. 30!
New Move! Stonjourner learned Gravity!
New Move! Stonjourner learned Stomp!
New Move! Stonjourner learned Stealth Rock!
New Move! Stonjourner learned Assurance! (TM)

Keeping Munna, Vote is for Fighting

Celyn tried to keep xer emotions in check as Ethan kicked the fallen Axew before it was captured and offered up as a rental… Shadowed or not, Cruel as it was in battle that didn’t mean humans had to stoop to that level. No matter the circumstances.

Celyn chose to forgo taking the Shadow Axew… Xe wasn’t fond of it either but at least Celyn had the decency to not injure that which was already beaten… regardless of these events, Celyn noted that almost all the Pokemon had taken in a surge of power, and after meeting up with another group apparently this surge in Power allowed for several Pokemon to evolve, along with gaining new moves.

Scanning Munna, Celyn noted down that their partner had gained several new moves, but like before, couldn’t really be much of a powerhouse of their own without either more levels of experience or Evolution.

Gains:
MT Helping Hand

For Reference:
Ability: Telepathy

Attacks; Psywave, Defense Curl, Lucky Chant, Yawn, Psybeam, Imprison, Stored Power, Hypnosis, Moonlight, Zen Headbutt, Synchronoise, Nightmare, Magic Coat, Calm Mind
MT's; Helping Hand

Unnatural: Glitzy Glow

Will be sticking with Axew, and voting for the Psychic Route. I’ll grab the Silk Scarf for lack of better ideas and will be choosing the unnatural MT Mimic for Axew’s extra move.

I'll be keeping my Baltoy, teaching it the unnatural TR move Megahorn, and giving it the Silver Powder to hold. I vote we go down the Psychic route.

Atop that, each group finds a small pile of items before them, having been left by the Shadow Pokemon just now defeated, that may be of use in the battles to come.

Keeping the now level 30 female Mimikyu, and adding TM/TR Shadow Ball for the second bonus move. Taking the Fairy Dust and giving it to Mimikyu to hold. Voting to go the Psychic route despite pushing for Normal. Gotta go with the crowd, I guess.
