Deciding on a defensive start, Mr. Mime glows with a faint white light, expanding a shimmering aura to cover the Raiders side of the field - a wise decision, considering the opponent. Eevee looks to double down on this protection, crackling purple bolts shooting across her fur before discharging a blast of light towards Ekans, producing a stalwart pane of light in the process. Ranmaru finds great amusenent in this, sauntering forwards to clamp his jaws shut over Ekans' skin. Esteban finishes the round by exploding a pillar of tectonic energy beneath Ekans. Spitting fury, Ekans launches a devastating Max Quake at Esteban, before spewing forth a Gunk Shot which strikes Eevee nastily and sends her skittering away - though the Safeguard comes in handy already, successfully staving off what would've been an intoxicating blow.

Continuing with the defensive theme, Mr. Mime conjures another pulsing pane of energy which hovers in front of the Raiders. Ranmaru crackles with a faint electricty, generating a magnetic field and deftly hovering into the air. Meanwhile, Eevee howls demurely, causing leaves and vines to thrash at Ekans viciously, inflicting the reptile with a Leech Seed. Esteban, not fixing what isn't broken, simply slams a foot into the ground, engulfing Ekans within another Earth Power. Unfortunately for the Raiders, Ekans holds a grudge. Eevee is suddenly doused in the noxious toxins of a Max Ooze, and the following Dark Pulse is enough to send her for an early bath.

Esteban, sensing danger, gathers surrounding Dynamax energy. Set to a backdrop of eager roaring from the Gabite, he surges skywards, growing immensely to match their embattled foe. Buoyed by this, Ranmaru gathers a faint orange glow within one hand, darting forwards to deliver an emphatic punch, shattering a shield. Esteban follows suit, turquoise energy buffeting his body as he assaults Ekans with a Max Wyrmwind, obliterating the last two barriers. Seeing his opportunity, Mr. Mime waves a nonchalant hand, conjuring a raging wave which buffets the scaly hide of Ekans. Not to be outdone, the serpentine beast detonates a Max Darkness against Ranmaru, before peppering Esteban with an Infestation, scratching orbs of crimson light crawling over his body in the aftermath.

With their target on the back foot and their partner reinvigorated, the Raiders rally. Mr. Mime thrusts a hardened wall of Psychic energy into the body of Ekans, Ranmaru immediately following through with a defiant charge, a metallic thud echoiing around the clearing as he impacts. As familiar barriers erect, Eevee hurls a condensed pink orb into the bulwark, which is inevitably sundered as Esteban levies a Max Quake. Her defences lowered, Ekans hisses loudly, pulsing crimson shockwaves reverberating from within her body. Cleansed, she turns her attentions to Mr. Mime, devastating him with yet another Max Darkness.
