Ground Zero Gym Arena
Spoiler: show
The Ground Zero Gym Arena is a square area of 40 metres on each side -- specifically, it's a square block of reinforced concrete measuring 28 metres on each side and of three metres in height, sitting in a moat of sewage which is two metres deep, so a metre's height of concrete is exposed for battle.

On the concrete block lies four reactormajiggers linked by effluent pipe. The reactormajiggers are about three metres high and two metres in diameter, and the pipes about a metre in diameter. The reactormajiggers are indestructible, and the pipes will only break if they're hit by attacks as strong as Hyper Beam, in which sewage will spill out for two rounds until the self-regeneration technology fixes it. The reactormajiggers constantly belch out a combinations of poison gases which will float into the atmosphere, poisoning any Pokemon that stays airborne at heights of about five metres if they stay for over a round. However, as a result of the constant release of gases, the clouds above the gym have been severely affected by the poison. As a result, acid rain will have a 30% chance of falling onto the arena at the end of a round, lasting for four rounds, which will have one of the three following effects due to the cocktail of poisons within:
- A corrosive poison strong enough to make Rock and Ground-types will feel more uncomfortable in the rain due to the strengthened acid, unless they're part Poison-type themselves. All Poison-types will be unaffected by this poison.
- Narcotic poisons in the acid rain will make Pokemon using Psychic-type moves feel more drained.
- A specific toxin targeted at the DNA structure of Steel-type Pokemon will make them uncomfortable as well.
Due to environmental concerns even the gym can't overwrite, the usage of Rain Dance is disallowed. However, using Sunny Day will not have the effect of breaking the acid rain spell.
However, at the end of each round, the reactormajiggers do have a 1 in 100 chance of falling out, in which a huge explosion will happen. The reactormajiggers will be destroyed without a trace, as well as their pipes, and all Pokemon on the field will faint (including Sector Shadow operatives). When this happens, the poison gas and acid rain effects will not be in play for the battle's remainder.
Alright you two, let's get this moving.

"Oh - oh my god, dat is almost as scary as my hat!"

Biohazard Badge
Global Badge
The radioactive skull badge given out by Shadowshocker, leader of the Poison-typed Ground Zero Gym. All of Shadow's Pokemon are designed after some of Jumbaa Jookiba's 628 illegal genetic experiments, though due to general restraints Shadow has not been able to transcribe soopuh-Pokemon abilities to them. No one said anything about the badge, though, and it seems that prolonged exposure to the nasty sides of Poison has turned the badge septically sinister...
Badge Effect: Insult to Injury
If the holder's opponent's Pokemon is under at least one status, the holder's Pokemon does 15% more damage to the statused Pokemon.

Experiment 300/Spooky: Level 7 Male Gengar
Originally trained to get into the minds of enemies and turn all their dreams into nightmares, Spooky was repurposed due to the limitations surrounding sleep mechanics, and now feeds off the fear of his opponents' worst nightmares. The undisputed combat veteran of the Ground Zero Gym, Spooky is the terror that haunts the dreams of those who seek to conquer the gym and obtain the Biohazard Badge - the Gengar knows this, and the tears of those he has downed in battle sustain him.
Signature Move: Worst Case Scenario
Spooky's presence on the battlefield causes the opponent to be paranoid, fearful and unfocused. While Spooky is present, all of the opponent's attacks have a 10% chance of costing a moderate more amount of type energy. If the opponent switches out by any means, the fear induced by Spooky's presence causes them to use 50% more energy to execute a switching move. Spooky's fear-inducing effect cannot be ignored by Pokemon who possess anti-intimidation characteristics as his effect is derived from the victim's worst fears and weaknesses.
Hidden Power: Fairy

Experiment 031/Gotchu: Level 6 Male Drapion
Trained to pinch people with his claws. As a result of his training, Gotchu possesses a psychological complex that thrives on the pain and torment he causes with his pinching. To further the irritation he inflicts, Gotchu thought of a nastier method to perform his pinching.
Signature Move: Pursuit Punisher
Gotchu's Pursuit has a 50% chance of reducing the target's physical defence by 20%; this probability is not reduced regardless of how much of the attack hits. If the opponent is switched out, Gotchu will instantly replace one of his moves to use Pursuit on the opponent. In this case, the defence drop is guaranteed.
Hidden Power: Grass

Experiment 202/Jam: Level 6 Male Crobat
Originally supposed to jam radar with his supersonic blasts. In order to suit himself to Pokemon battling, Jam had a training session with Dave and has now altered his radar-jamming waves to those Dave emits in Kadabra mode.
Signature Move: Alpha Sonic
Jam emits a stream of waves in a fashion similar to his Supersonic, but instead of causing confusion, Alpha Sonic causes its target to have a headache. Affected Pokemon will have their concentration disrupted for up to four rounds, during which their attacks requiring some concentration are 30% more likely to fail. Alpha Sonic uses up 1.75x times the energy of a Supersonic and can be used up to three times per match.
Hidden Power: Grass

Experiment 501/Yin: Level 6 Female Tentacruel
Trained to spray water. As part of her training, Yin swam in polluted water of various levels of poison to better her resistances against poison attacks. As a result of her prolonged periods of time inside water, she later learned how to use it to improve her attacks.
Signature Move: Hydro Booster
When Yin is swimming in water, she is able to automatically suck up some of the water she is swimming in and use it to power her Water-type attacks by 20% for an equivalent increase in energy use. If she is swimming in polluted water, her Water-type attacks have a 10-50% chance of poisoning depending on the toxicity of the polluted water. All of Yin's Water attacks are considered to break Reflect, Barrier and Light Screen without suffering damage reduction while in the water.
Hidden Power: Dark

Experiment 602/Sinker: Level 6 Male Dragalge
Designed to sink enemy navies. As the only Poison-type family unique to the Kalos region, Sinker came from a legacy of sinister ship-sinking specimens, which commandeer an empire of sunken ships in a graveyard worthy of being considered an empire. For safety reasons his poisons had to be toned down, but their nastiness pertaining to metals remained.
Signature Training: Potassium Reaction
Sinker knows Acid Spray, and all his Poison-type moves are considered neutral against Steel-types, at the cost of requiring 20% more energy.
Hidden Power: Fighting

Experiment 626/Stitch: Level 6 Male Shiny Nidoking
The mascot of the team, originally supposed to be virtually indestructible, to think faster than a supercomputer, to have super sight and hearing, to lift three thousand times his own weight... but none of his senses training did him any good within these aspects. Now he's just a shiny Nidoking that's madly in love with Angel, and has a silly streak a mile long.
Signature Move: Meeka Nala Kweeshta!
If Stitch takes damage from an attack dealing at least significant base damage, Stitch's offences gain a 1.2x boost but have a 10% chance of missing out of anger. Stitch must take at least half of the damage from said move for this effect to trigger. This effect lasts until Stitch has dissipated all his anger (like a Pokemon would after Swagger). This effect will remain active if Stitch has <25% of his health remaining. If Angel is on the same team, Stitch's anger effect is ignored.
Hidden Power: Flying

Silver Wing Token
Bestowed upon the winner of the Winter Whirl Cup. The attached pokemon is allowed to be one evolutionary stage higher than they would otherwise be at their current level.
Attached to Yo Momma the Snorlax

Sculptor's Token
The Sculptor's Token symbolises one's skill in navigating and manipulating the beautiful surroundings of a winter wonderland. It can be attached to Ice type pokémon only and greatly enhances their species characteristics. The wearer becomes very sure footed and will maintain full mobility and stability regardless of the condition of the arena floor. Ice type moves which have a secondary effect such as freezing or stat drops are twice as likely to have the effect triggered when used by the wearer, these effects also being slightly more potent. The token also provides fortitude and good cheer, rendering its wearer more resistant to moves which negatively affect its mental state such as Supersonic and Swagger. This token may be purchased during the Christmas 2013 event and may be purchased up to one time per trainer.

Miss Missy Miss: Female Mismagius (level 7) (uplevel)
Biography: Miss Missy Miss has always taken joy in staying awake for days on end, and I could never figure out as to why. After quite a while I determined that this problem was because she couldn't relax when it was time to sleep, disturbed by all the commotion around her. It was at this point when I got her a white noise machine, and she hasn't had a problem relaxing ever since. In fact, she liked the white noise so much that she would just start letting out sounds of her own to mock it, calming herself down in the process.
Hidden Power: Fighting
Special Training: White Noise
Whenever Miss Missy Miss uses Screech, she is benefitted with the same boosts associated with a Calm Mind. Her Screech attacks now use 25% more energy, and may only be used twice per match. Also, because she respects how difficult it is to get sleep sometimes, she will not purposely use damaging attacks against sleeping opponents, and has foregone her learning of Nightmare and Dream Eater.

Yo Momma: Female Snorlax (level 6)
Biography: Yo Momma so fat...
Hidden Power: Dragon
Special Attack: Momma's Kiss (Fairy)
Yo Momma goes to give the opponent a kiss, but she's so dumb she takes a bite out of them instead. The strength of the bite is dependent on the weight of the Pokemon, as Yo Momma will more enthusiastically attempt to eat heavier Pokemon. Momma's Kiss starts out as only doing Mild damage, but for every 100 pounds the opponent weighs it does an additional Mild damage, capping out at Extreme after 400 pounds. The move doesn't scale progressively, only jumps up at every 100 pounds, meaning it'll do the same amount of damage to a 100 pound Pokemon as it will to a 199 pound Pokemon. Momma's Kiss uses Significant Fairy energy and Yo Momma may only use it once per match.

Kirill: Male Excadrill (level 6)
Biography: I'm a drill and I'm digging a hole. Diggy diggy hole. I'm digging a hole.
Hidden Power: Ice
Special Training: Giga Drill
Whenever ordered to Dig, Kirill coats himself in an additional minor amount of Ground energy and a minor amount of Steel energy, the combination of which allows his drilling prowess dig through surfaces he would not be able to, such as reinforced concrete or steel, only unable to dig through the most indestructible of surfaces. This extra energy will always be used, even if digging through the softest soil, and does not affect the damage done nor the type of damage when Kirill uses Dig to strike a foe.

Neuge: Female Froslass (level 6)
Bio: New to her ghostly form, Neuge seeks to bring others to the same sad state as herself.
Hidden Power: Fighting
Special Training: Death's Cold Embrace
When Neuge passes through something or something passes through her while she is in Ethereal form, a thin layer of ice will form over the surface of whatever she "touched". While easy enough to break off that most Pokemon will be unhindered by it, even after breaking off the ice will make Pokemon not used to the cold feel chilled and cause their actions to be slower as if they were effected by the secondary effects of an Icy Wind.

R-66Y aka "Robo": Genderless Golurk (level 6)
Bio: R-66Y hails from a time period from the distant future, brought back by crazy science magic portals or whatever. His parts were in disrepair when found, and had to be replaced - save for one thing - his optic sensors. These advanced optics allow him to see weaknesses that his opponent may be trying to cover up, thus allowing him to exploit them.
Hidden Power: Grass
Special Training: Analyze
Any moves used by R-66Y do not have their type effectiveness modifiers changed by sigs that would otherwise effect them. This goes both ways, meaning that a normally super effective move made neutral, or simply weakened, would still do full damage, however an immunity made neutral would remain immune, and so on. Thus, a Scizor sigged to take 300% damage from Fire attacks would still take the normal 400%, and a Lucario sigged to take 100% damage from Steel attacks would still take the normal 50%. R-66Y cannot use Double Team, Substitute, Protect, Safeguard, or Magic Coat.

Keaira: Female Sableye (level 6)
Biography: Keiara, being a Sableye, has always had a deep connection to the shadows around her. Inspired by her abilities involving shadows, Keira decided to go under training to use shadows further to her advantage, forming a strong attack out of them.
Hidden Power: Flying
Special Attack: Totally Not Shadowball (Ghost/Dark)
Keiara draws shadows around her into a ball of energy which she then hurls at the target for extreme damage. If the arena is very dark, the charge time will be reduced slightly, but if there is very little shadow to draw from, it will take longer, at ref's discretion. Obviously if for whatever reason there are no shadows about, the attack is unusuable. This attack takes extreme energy, and can be used twice per battle, once as a Ghost type attack, and once as a Dark type attack. Charge time in an average arena is just over that of a Hyper Beam.

"Yo Momma's so fat she'll eat the whole Gym."

"Show him how much Momma cares. Blow back with Blizzard to really put the slow on him. Then close in and give him a big hug with Pursuit. Grab hold of him the moment you're in range and don't let go as you force feed him a point blank Zap Cannon."

The whirring of machinery pervades the surroundings as a slender, be-hatted man approaches the concrete quadrilateral. Crossing over the moat of poisonous liquid, the challenger reaches his destination as he eyes another man dressed in a lab coat and overly large goggles, who currently has his back to the approachee as he tinkers with dials and switches that coat the metallic surfaces. He whips around at the sound of footsteps, cackling maniacally as he presses a large, red button, which worries the visitor just a wee bit. Thankfully it doesn't turn out to be what blows up the workings of this plant (stay tuned), but instead a selection machine that sorts out six Pokeballs that are sent hurtling through the pipes above and out of a spigot with several dull clunks. He makes his first selection and sends it hurling into the air, landing with a crack on the hard arena and opening with a burst of red light, revealing Jam the Crobat, flying peacefully above the events that will soon unfold. The gym-leader-but-not-of-this-gym in the meanwhile has made his own selection, revealing Yo Momma the Snorlax, who is so fat that her steps cause vibrations that register on the Richter scale. And seeing the Jam above, she smacks her lips as she eyes him hungrily, I mean, where's the toast when you need it. To go with the jam. I'm clever I swear.

Seeing the looks that the obese monstrosity below is giving him, the Crobat begins to exhale deeply, letting a fine blue mist fill the arena, contrasting with the otherwise purple surroundings in a fashion faux pas that will be recorded for generations. Yo Momma becomes so offended by this that she begins her own exhalation, but her lungs have a lot more to them than the tiny bat (well, large bat, tiny in comparison. Whatever.), and she may've infused the breeze with just a titch too much ice, and before she knows it, she's started a blizzard. The Crobat flies above, looking down into the mist for signs of movement, and then soon realizes that the mist itself is approaching as the gale force freezing wall of death pushes it in its wake, and soon enough the storm itself overtakes Jam and chills him to the bone, causing the bat enormous amounts of agony as he flaps weakly in the aftermath. He looks down at the Snorlax through the now cleared arena, and with a wretched gargling sound, the Crobat upchucks several large spheroids of sludge that whistle through the air like bombs as they descend on the behemoth. But Yo Momma cares not, and she begins to fly unnaturally through the air powered by dark energy, passing through projectiles with a grunt of pain but continues in hot pursuit of the flier, striking and latching on. Now, weight disparity is a little skewed, and methinks Crobat lacks the ability to, y'know, stay aloft with a Snorlax hanging from it, and so the two quickly plummet to the earth with enough force that I'm surprised a crater didn't form, with Yo Momma in control of the situation having moved enough to land on top. Finding himself a bit on the immobilized side, Jam can only watch in horror as a large ball of electricity forms directly in front of him, and with a rumbling chuckle, Yo Momma sends the zapping cannonball marching right into the Crobat's overlarge face. The bat shrieks as the paralysis sets in, but the Snorlax frowns as well, her point-blank attack leaving her also somewhat immobilized but not nearly as badly as the crunched cave dweller underneath her.

Jam is already below the midpoint of health, and while good for two has a couple of problems to deal with. Yo Momma is still in good condition, but will face immediate exhaustion, though should be good for two following it. Ice for Jam has plenty while the same for Yo Momma is basically out. Electric for the Snorlax has a bit left, and Dark with plenty as well. Sneaze to order.

Sorry for the delay, TA and all that.

The scientist stamps his foot in anger at how silly the current version of Pursuit is, or at least how it's been interpreted, and as he looks on at his battered Crobat with a glint of softness in the piercing eyes behind his spectacles, a sudden flash of light catches his attention. Looking up, he sees the large form of the Snorlax vanish from atop his bat and another spheroid comes down and reveals a vastly smaller creature, a small imp almost imperceptible at first against the purple scenery until it smiles wickedly, teeth and eyes glowing out of the darkness that is its body. With a quick command, it begins to scamper up the nearby machinery and up to the more precarious pipelines, but Keaira the Sableye fear nothing, being deft in the art as she continues steadily upwards and over to a safe position. As she rises, she barks a taunting cackle over her shoulder to the paralyzed Jam, daring him to even try and follow. The Crobat becomes enraged as he attempts to alleviate his paralysis, but it tightens around him as the electrical portion of it reminds him that movement cannot free this particular bond, at least not in regards to the source it came from. Seeing her opponent seized up by his ailments, Keaira begins to plot particularly nasty things to do to her immobilized adversary, who struggles to flap his wings in a way to blast the silly Sableye from his perch, but Jam finds himself unable as the powerful status keeps him bound. Invigorated by her plans for Jam's future, Keaira continues to give a wide smile as she prepares for his demise.

Neither side took damage, with both good for two. SS to order.
