Mew UPN PASBL: Beautiful Savage Vs. dirkac

Quote:
BeautifulSavage (c) vs dirkac (a)
2v2
Singles
Slapstick
Equiall 1
Switch = OK
72 hr DQ
Arena: Ref's Choice
I believe this is BeautifulSavage's second match? In that case, let us quickly run through the rules!

Slapstick: Pokemon will not sustain any notable injuries. While they can sustain things like acid burns and the flesh-piercing effect of Crush Claw, these will not have any lasting effect. This is in contrast to Realistic, where Pokemon can indeed suffer cuts, broken bones, for example, and even melted body parts for, say, something like a Metang. In Realistic, Pokemon may even need to stay at the Pokemon Center for a few battles. In Slapstick, you do not need to worry about any of this.

Equiall 1: All Pokemon are considered to be of the denoted level. In this case, all Pokemon in this battle will be considered to be Level 1 by default. Uplevels are always considered to be a level higher, and therefore, they shall be Level 2 in this battle. These are the similarities that Equiall has to Equilevel. However, there is also an important difference; in Equilevel, the evolutionary stage of a Pokemon is unaffected. Meanwhile, in Equiall, the Pokemon will have the evolutionary stage it would have had if it were of the denoted level. For example, a Level 4 Dragonite will be reduced to a Level 1 Dratini under Equiall 1.

Switch = KO: You may switch Pokemon at any time, except on the same round in which your opponent switches or sends out a new Pokemon. It has no technical penalties, but your opponent will always get a chance to order after a manual switch. This does not necessarily apply for moves like Baton Pass or U-Turn, which do not give the opponent any such opportunity.

72 Hour DQ: It refers to the amount of time before you can disqualify an opponent for not ordering in time.

Now, then, time to determine our arena. Let us try to make this a little more interesting than the basic arenas, without getting complicated.

Quote:
Overgrown Lawn: A hopefully less boring version of the Lawn Arena. It has all the characteristics of the Lawn Arena, with the exception of the fact that it has many bushes scattered around. These are large enough for most smaller Pokemon to hide in or behind. These bushes use the same rules as boulders in a Rock Arena; anything the trainers or referee says, as long as it is not in contradiction with what someone else has said, is considered to be correct with regard to the positioning of the bushes, within reason. The soil is soft, allowing for sneaking without being heard, unless the opponent has particularly sharp senses. However, the rustles of bushes can give a Pokemon away.
Just as a reminder, this is the order:

- Beautiful Savage posts her squad of six Pokemon, with orders.
- dirkac posts his squad of six Pokemon, with orders, and chooses his first.
- Beautiful Savage chooses her own Pokemon, with orders.
- dirkac orders.
- Mew The Gato referees the round.
- Every round, the order is reversed, so...
- dirkac orders.
- Beautiful Savage orders.
- Mew The Gato referees the round.
- And so on...

You should keep in mind the different ways moves work in ASB, as well as the individual characteristics of Pokemon. You should also keep track of this and this thread. Subscribing to those threads would be useful!

...I hope all this information is not redundant, things that you already know. ^^;

Now, then, please start off the battle, Beautiful Savage.

In that case, I'll lead with Monet.

Use Hail to create some cover, then get yourself to the bush on your left for safety.

Froslass Round 1: Not Frozen

Each step is met by a satisfying rustling sound as the trainers take their positions on either side of the arena. It seems to have been abandoned for a while, but at least, no one will be disturbed by any loud flashes or bangs that this battle causes. Greeting each other, the trainers reach for their respective Pokemon, dirkac starting things off by throwing a Pokeball into the air. A red beam of light strikes the ground like lightning, and in its place stands an Amaura. Fittingly enough, Beautiful Savage responds with his Snover. Things are going to get cold.

Quote:
Amaura (Rock/Ice): Amaura's body is extremely frigid. Using a move, Amaura can chill their body, making any physical attacks listed as XX Ice-typed for the duration of the battle. Using 10% more energy, they can also increase the chance of their Ice-typed moves freezing their target by 5%. Any Pokémon coming in contact with them will be chilled similarly to Icy Wind.

Snover (Grass/Ice): Snover are able to disguise themselves well in blizzards and snowy areas. Their Hail attack is far more effective than normal, starting faster and dealing mild damage to any non Ice-types on the field for each round it is in effect. Like a Tyranitar uses sand, Snover can generate a hailstorm from its own body and can thus use the technique indoors. Their Blizzard attack takes slightly less energy than normal.
Aurora, the more experienced of the two, smiles serenely, taking a single step towards her opponent and nodding in acknowledgement, apparently confident, but not having any immediate aggression. Monet watches her opponent attentively, although she does risk glances around the arena, pleased to find the plant life agreeable for the Grass Type such as herself. Yet, what bothers her is the temperature. She does not particularly mind this, but the chillier the better; raising her arms towards the skies, spread wide, as if addressing the scattered clouds, then proceeds to crack her hands together, and the impact sends a flash of white towards the heavens. The clouds answer her command with surprising punctuality, racing to hide the Sun. The light dimming, Hailstones assault the arena, starting to fall almost abruptly. The Amaura is well at home in these conditions, however, and decides to call upon her own origin. Tilting her head up, she murmurs something, addressing the Ancients. As her opponent's call had, hers is responded to be the grant of Power. In front of her mouth, a shimmering orb of Rock Type appearing before her mouth. And then, she shoots her neck towards her opposition, and the sphere follows suit.

Much pain is felt by the Snover, struck squarely by the concentration of super effective energy, feeling a small explosion pushing her back, nearly throwing her off balance. A first taste of the opposition's power is not a pleasant one for her, as it seems, because she chooses to retreat, joining some dense plant life, and disappearing into the bush. Aurora's smile seems to be strained ever so slightly, a question of how she should go about forcing her opponent out of hiding coming to her mind. Her opponent, while skilled at hiding in this weather, had still been seen by the opposing Ice Type, whose vision is hindered little. And as such, the bush she is in determined with unfortunate ease. In a fluid movement, the Amaura raises one of her forefeet, and then, she slams it into the soil, this motion being visibly sterner. Four a moment, all is silent, except for the sound of the hailstones. And then, several Rocks erupt from the ground, around the bush, surrounding it like a Tomb. Monet, although unharmed by this development, is clearly startled, inexperienced with dealing with such a situation. Glancing around, she seems to frantically wish for guidance from her trainer.

Although safely hidden from view, Monet has taken quite the hit, while Aurora is unharmed. Still, both Pokemon are brimming with vitality and energy, able to stretch their limbs and go all out.

Stealth Rock.

If it looks like Monet might escape from the Rock Tomb, use Ancient Power when its in sight.

If not, Calm Mind.

Start off with an Ingrain. Since it would appear that Aurora hasn't moved much since last round, lob a Seed Bomb over the Rock Tomb towards where she's standing.

Camerupt Round 2: Bombarda

With Monet firmly trapped, Aurora relaxes a little. Under her cool demeanour, there is, of course, the tension that each battle brings. She can hold it back, but allowing herself to relax the effort is a valuable relief, however short it is. Nonetheless, she does not waste time; the more work that she can get done while in favourable conditions, the better. Raising another foot, she allows it to fall, although reliant on a little more than gravity to accomplish what she is about to do. The familiar crunch of grass under her feet, and a few cracks appear in the ground, making way for several boulders to fly up into the air. Moving swiftly, the Rocks surround and stab the tomb, but barely make it shake, rebounding right back into the soil to wait, with Stealth, of a less disappointing opportunity. The Snover holds her arms defensively, bracing herself, alarmed by even the slightest movement. Although things settle down, to her relief, she is left on edge, unaware of what is happening. However, she decides that when in doubt, in should plant their roots and stand their ground. Nodding to herself, a determined expression on her face, she releases roots from her feet, Ingraining them into the soil, and reaching out to find more strength.

Aurora allows her serene expression to drop, letting out a sigh of relief as she realizes that her opponent is still far from escaping, at this rate. The latter, in fact, does not even seem to have made any progress, even as she has been carefully observing the formation of boulders. Concluding that it would be safe to do so, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, taking in the cold air that accompanies the sound of the hailstones crashing against the ground. While these may seem to be hindrances to many, the Amaura is indeed reminded of home, and she takes heart in this, allowing her own memories to soothe her. However, Monet seems to have had enough with being in this claustrophobic area, and decides to do something about this. Although she does not see how she can aim her attack over the boulders, considering that they also block the way from above, she nonetheless fires some Seed-like projectiles, unusually large for their namesake. The Bomb-like explosions that follow do not go unnoticed by the Rock Type, who readies herself for the worst. And then, the explosions force the top rock to fall forward, dragging down with it the front boulder... and leaving the Pokemon glaring at each other.

No damage was traded, but Monet restores some health and energy, while Aurora gains a slight boost to her Special Attack and resistance to mental effects.

Oh, I don't know why I thought the top was open lol.

Use Leech Seed. Then, if you still have the energy for a second move, use another Seed Bomb.

Delibird Round 3: Gifts

Aurora suddenly realizes that she is looking a little too tense. She falters momentarily, but quickly recovers the smile she had been wearing at the start of the battle. She has to appear cool and collected, not at the verge of melting. Monet, meanwhile, seems determined to send her plant-like reach everywhere. She points one of her hands towards her opponent, who catches a tiny glint of bright green at the tip... and quickly sets to work. She takes a deep breath, trying to gather enough wind and chill to fuel the attack... but she is too late, unable to prepare the powerful attack in time to stop a move that is much easier on her opponent's energy. Shuddering ever so slightly, she feels the Seed touching her, and then releasing explosive growth, vines coiling around her, and then rooting themselves to the ground to keep her in place. Seeing no other option, she responds by unleashing a Blizzard from her mouth, with all the strength that she can muster up, the Snover's vision turning white as she feels the attack throw her against her cage of boulders, most of which still stands behind her. Even for a Pokemon like herself, used to these weather conditions, the attack is a harsh one.

As Monet rises to her feet, already starting to feel noticeably battered, she realizes that her opponent is busy trying to catch her breath after that unload, the Amaura slumping slightly. Seizing the opportunity, the Snover raises both her hands this time, pointing them in her adversary's direction... and proceeding to fire several familiar green orbs. Aurora looks up just in time to see her nightmare -- even more Seeds, and huge ones at that -- but has no time to react before they explode next to her, throwing her off her feet, and into the ground. Crying out to the Ancients, the friends and family she had had before her revival... before her death... to lend her their strength, she drags herself to her feet, relieved to find the vines around her already damaged. She then gathers Rock Type energies in front of her once again open mouth, her belief being that those she has called out to are aiding her with this attack. Nodding to herself, she launches the also-familiar sphere in her opponent's direction, and although the Grass Type tries to brace herself, holding her arms in front of herself in a defensive stance, she once again takes some rather painful damage from this attack.

Aurora finally takes some damage, while Monet has already crashed out of his first third of health. The Snover does look like he can still go all out for now, but the Amaura is clearly in need of a break.

When it looks like she's going to set up the Barrier, use Flash to distract her, then hit her with an Energy Ball.

Darmanitan Round 4: Little Progress

Monet carefully observes her tired opponent, relieved by the latter's condition. She had been pressurized to try to keep up so far, but maybe, even in this short amount of time, she would be able to recover from this situation. Aurora, recognizing how bad things can be if she slacks off during battle, she forces herself to concentrate one last time before she has to let go of the battle temporarily. Narrowing her eyes, she starts imbuing the air a small distance in front of her with blue energy, and even the glint in the cold air is enough to alert the Snover of what his happening, her vision not hindered by the unusual weather condition. Aiming with both of her arms once again, she seems to cause some chemical reaction inside her body, which ultimately results in an explosive produce of light. Shutting her own eyes tightly, she releases a bright Flash, which causes everything to blend with the shimmering white of the hailstones for the Amaura, hindering her vision noticeably. However, it fails to startle her enough to interrupt her move, and much to her relief, she successfully manages to draw a bright blue shield through the air, geometric shapes flickering in and out of the structure. The Frost Tree Pokemon seems to be somewhat discouraged by this, rightfully concerned as to whether she can break through the attack. However, she figures that she might as well try. Using only one arm this time, she collects Grass Type Energy at her fingertips, then absorbs it into the short socket-like space in between, concentrating it into a Ball. And then, she launches the sphere, a beautiful mix of green and blue, towards the Rock Type. However, the Barrier stands in the way, protecting its master even as the orb explodes brilliantly. In the aftermath, it does seem to be rather battered, but it should be able to still take a little more before its destruction...

Monet, mercifully, recovered some health, although neither side has taken damage. Aurora is feeling better, her Psychic Type energy sufficient for another Barrier. Monet, owing to her lighter rounds relative to her opponent, should be able to actually still manage a two mover, if she so wishes.

Well, that didn't work as well as I hoped. Let's keep the pressure up for one more round. Use two more Energy Balls.

Ludicolo Round 5: New Moves, Please

Monet seems to be growing more and more concerned with the proceedings. Each round without progress costs her opponent, considering the fact that she is slowly healing herself, rooted to one spot, even her lack of offensive progress last round should have counted for something. Pointing her other arm towards her opponent this time, as if the flaw was with her previous hand, she gathers her Grass Type Energy at her fingertips once again, collecting the bright green light between them. Aurora, now fresher than the opposition, is able to brace herself, lowering her head to take the attack... head on. As a familiar sphere of energy is launched, accelerating through the air, it strikes the barrier... and promptly breaks through, the Ball exploding upon contact with the Rock Type... and destroying the vines. Still, she grunts and hisses in pain, the shield turning out to have been a little too weakened for her taste, and promptly, she chooses to retaliate. She tilts her head high, letting out a low roar, one of the signs that this small Pokemon's origin is actually the ancient world of fossil Pokemon, where so many vicious being roamed freely. And, answering her command, several beams of Rock Type energy shoot away from her.

The beams stop in mid-air, as if blocked by an invisible wall, or perhaps stopped by the need to be close to their mistress. The beams grow shorter, until they are no more than orbs in the air... the Edges suddenly being carved out, and the glow fading to reveal rather solid Stones. Flying in the formation of two rings, they revolve around the Amaura, loyally making sure to protect her, but she seems to decide that today is the day for them to meet certain doom, for her sake. Uttering a low order, she directs all the projectiles towards her opponent, and Monet experiences the agony of each projectile jetting past her, but not before brushing back, each feeling like a knife on her body. The future abominable snowman refuses to back down, considering the fact that she is stuck in one spot, and therefore, is not exactly able to back off much. And so... she brings both hands together this time, creating a Ball of Energy once again, and without anything new about it, shoots the attack towards its target, the sphere leaving behind a trail of light. Things are different, however, this time around -- for the first time, the attack hits without any blockade, and it forces Aurora to a knee, even as the Hail starts to clear...

Monet has evened the odds for health, but does seem to be tired now. Aurora is even fresher now, but has crashed to the half mark for health as well, her Barrier thoroughly shattered. Leech Seed's vines have been destroyed.

Shroomish Round 6: None Of These Moves Are New

The two Pokemon look up towards the sky, appearing somewhat displeased to see rays of sunshine sneaking through the now dissipating clouds, and the sound of hailstones only being a rare occurrence now. It would have pleased them much for it to last longer, but they have, by now, realized that they have to come out of their comfort zone. With the matchup still far from over, Aurora refuses the plea to do something new, asking her Ancients for help yet again. One has to wonder if the fossil Pokemon from the past appreciate the fact that they have to provide Power to her for the third time in the match. But regardless of what they think, they indeed do so, as is evident by the glowing brown orb, sprinkled with orange and golden, appearing in front of her mouth. Monet quickly decides to use an old move himself, her eyes on the sphere coming towards her, even as she raises her arms to rapid-fire several projectiles that have an eerie resemblance to Seeds so large that one has to wonder what would have sprouted from them if they had not been used as ammunition. Some of the Bombs explode, leading to the time-travelling move being weakened before striking the Snover, but the Amaura does not seem to take full damage, either. Ignoring the fact that the longer she lets her opponent live, the more time she has to heal himself, the Tundra Pokemon raises both of her forefeet, letting out a high-pitched growl before slamming them into the ground. The familiar sense of claustrophobia returns to the Grass Type as she finds another set of Rocks erupt around her and trap her in a makeshift Tomb, but she does seem to recognize that this may be a good thing, making no effort to break through, for now. It is not like she could have moved around, anyway, the roots still keeping her in one spot.

Some damage traded, but nothing too much, although Monet widens her lead, especially due to Ingrain.
