Snorlax UPN PASBL: rotomotorz vs Miror

Quote:

Ref chooses arena
In this match, the guy who broke GMIV's castle faces off against the guy I'm currently doing a scenario-off against. Fun stuff.

I choose the arena, eh? CRACKOSSEUM IT IS

I kid. For real, these two will be fighting at The Sky Pillar Zenith!

Quote:
Sky Pillar Zenith: The top floor of the Sky Pillar, a gigantic structure that stretches up above the clouds. The pillar's roof is a two-tiered stone structure, dotted with a number of moderately sized boulders. Despite it's age, the pillar is quite sturdy, allowing for the use of ground-based moves. Although it is open to the air, due to being well above the cloud line, no weather manipulating moves can be used and will fail if attempted. There are a number of drafts that surround the tower that can be ridden by flying Pokémon, and also supply the tower with a constant supply of oxygen, causing battlers to tire a little less quickly than average.
Right, with that out of the way, how about we get a squad from Roto?

Woooo rematch time. Maybe this time I'll get lucky and pound you in the dirt. Thanks Snorbs b

Gladius-Level 3 Male Aegislash
Bio: For a Pokemon, Gladius was always a great blacksmith. He was just an ordinary Honedge until one fateful day he found the abandoned home of a famous blacksmith who recently passed away. Intrigued, Gladius entered the house only to be greeted by tons of tools used for melting, bending, cutting, and shaping metal. Utterly fascinated, Gladius taught himself how to use these tools, improvising when he couldn't, and over many years became a great blacksmith in his own right. It was at that time Roto found him, and offered to take him on his journey so he could improve his technique and share his talent with the world.
Hidden Power: Water
Signature Move: Solder Blade(FI)
Using significant Fire energy, Gladius heats up his blade to an extremely high temperature before slashing at the opponent. On contact, this attack will do significant Fire typed damage, and will most likely leave a burn on the area hit, with the chance decreasing if the opponent has a hard hide or body structure. This attack can also melt weaker substances, but cannot cause fires. Gladius has enough Fire energy to use this attack twice.
Attached Token: Reaper's Token

M.E.C.H.O.N.(Mechanical Ether Collection Homs Operated Network)-Level 4 Uplevel Genderless Golurk
Bio: A homs robot ironically names M.E.C.H.O.N., his job was to automatically collect and refine ether cylinders for the people of Colony 6. While no one is sure as to how M.E.C.H.O.N. got his sentience, he did, and soon he left, no exactly impressed with continuing the same routine here. Learning to use his ability to use ether, M.E.C.H.O.N. was able to defend for himself as he traveled through space because he's a fucking giant death robot. Why M.E.C.H.O.N. chose to stay in our world, no one knows that as well.
Hidden Power: Grass
Signature Move: Ether Punch[Typeless]
M.E.C.H.O.N. gathers ether around his fist, slamming it into the opponent with a powerful punch. If the target is organic, this attack deals major damage and replenishes energy equal to half the damage dealt. While the attack itself doesn't use energy, it contributes towards exhaustion as if he used a Major energy move. This attack as no effect against Pokemon not considered organic. This move may only be used twice.

Rushmore-Level 3 Female Probopass
Bio: Rushmore believes that true strength comes from balance. Throughout her life, she trained with balance as her core principle, always striving to achieve the perfect state of balance. Over years of time, energy, and effort, she became stronger, yet still balanced her offenses and defenses, making her well known throughout the mountains she lived in as a powerful opponent. But not everything was balanced, even nature left a bit of imbalance in the form of types. Rushmore realized that in order to achieve a greater sense of balance, she would have to find a way of neutralizing type match-ups. Training by herself, she struggled as she attempted to perfect such a technique. One day, Roto passed by Rushmore who was training diligently up in the mountains. Understanding her purpose, Roto ended his assistance, and together, Rushmore managed to perfect her attack. She then joined Roto, seeing him as a trainer worthy of her strength.
Hidden Power: Default
Signature Move: Neutrality Barrier(Typeless)
Rushmore forms a translucent white barrier around herself which lasts for three turns. While the barrier is up, any attack that hits Rushmore will do type-neutral(because apparently typeless is something else ugh) damage, and any attack Rushmore uses will deal type-neutral damage. This does not affect damage dealt, energy and type energy consumed, or secondary effects of attacks. This move requires good energy upon use, and then consumes mild energy over the course for each round it is active. Switching in any manner does not pass on the barrier, and Rushmore cannot de-activate the barrier once it is active. This move can only be used once per battle.

Jazz-Level 3 Female Cofagrigus
Bio:
Hidden Power: Ground
Signature: None

Capricious-Level 3 Genderless Rotom-Fan
Bio:
Hidden Power: Flying
Signature: None

Lifeguard-Level 3 Male Floatzel
Bio: Lifeguard lived by a very rapidy flowing river. Wild Pokemon, especially younger ones, would occasionally fall in the river, but Lifeguard was always there to save them. He'd also help protect the younger Pokemon from ill-meaning people and Pokemon, and quickly became a trained fighter. Using his best asset, his tail, he'd trip, slam, and defeat anything that stood in his way.
Hidden Power: Fire
Signature Technique: Tail Mastery
Any attack involving Lifeguard's tail now do 20% more damage, but cost 20% more energy. Lifeguard can also use Dragon Tail and Poison Tail, but loses Blizzard and Hydro Pump.

Yeah we'll find out how much we've progressed since TL2 or so. Maybe. Good luck to you, and thanks MMS!

Cryon - Level 4 Female Toxicroak
Toxicroak (Poison/Fighting): Toxicroak have sacs in their mouths that store toxins. Utilizing these stored poisons, Poison attacks from the mouth take slightly less energy. The claws on its hands secrete poison, and attacks using hands have an additional 10% chance of poisoning.
Hidden Power: Ground
Signature Move: Special Attack - Scarecrow's Shuriken (PO)
Using heavy Poison energy, Cryon releases an array of shuriken-like energy constructs, that immediately plunge into the ground. The shurikens deal no damage, but release an invisible gas that will agitate all Pokemon on the field except for Cryon, with grounded Pokemon even experiencing hallucinations. While they hallucinate, grounded Pokemon will be reluctant to move around, and will be subject to a permeating fear, which makes the Pokemon more reluctant to attack, in addition to being slower in reaction time and much more cautious. After about three rounds the hallucinations and fear will wear off, but the gas will continue to affect the opponent in a way similar to Infestation. Flying and Levitating Pokemon will not hallucinate, but will suffer from the Infestation-esque effects if they come within 3-4 feet of the ground. Scarecrow's Shuriken can be cleared similarly to Toxic Spikes.

Nucif - Level 4 Male Exeggutor
Exeggutor (Grass/Psychic): An Exeggutor literally has eyes everywhere: it is impossible to surprise from behind. They are capable of attacking an opponent with most of their attacks, no matter which direction they are 'facing'. For Rollout, Exeggutor will drop one of its 'heads' to attack. While the head is using a Rollout, Exeggutor loses the abilities of that particular head. When done with Rollout, the head will Teleport back to the Exeggutor and reconnect for minor energy. An Exeggutor is considered to be knocked out when its body is, as the heads will all faint when the body does. Exeggutor deals slightly more damage with its special Psychic and Grass moves than other Pokémon.
Hidden Power: Ghost
Signature Move: Special Attack - Coconut Rock (RK)
Nucif creates 8-10 coconut-shaped constructs of Rock energy that he fires at his opponent. They burst upon contact with the target, and deal heavy damage for equivalent energy. The explosions are similar to that of Dynamic Punch, and they have a 30% chance to cause confusion. This attack pulls its power from Special Attack but is considered a physical attack due to its somewhat solid nature and assault of the target's body. Nucif has the Rock offtype to use this twice per battle.

Menoptra - Level 5 Male Octillery (Uplevel)
Octillery (Water): Octillery have suction cups on their tentacles, which can be used to hold fast to certain surfaces. Thus, if the opponent uses attacks dependent on Octillery's weight, Octillery are considered to weigh 200 pounds for the duration of the attack, provided they are touching something they can hold on to. Octillery are fastest in water, though they can move somewhat well on land. They have excellent accuracy and their attacks have a greater chance of hitting. They can see in the dark.
Hidden Power: Ghost
Signature Move: Special Training - Zaptastic
After evolution, some physical changes did remain, the red eyes being the same, but the regular yellow suction cups on Menoptra have become electric blue. The additional typing of Electric was lost over evolution, but now contact with the Octillery will now cause 25% recoil in Electric damage as he's still supercharged with electricity. He also remains familiar with the Electric type, and retains the moves Thunderbolt, Zap Cannon, and Volt Switch, while still losing the moves Bounce, Double-Edge, Flail, Thief, Facade, Return, Frustration, Confide, Rest, Sleep Talk, Snore, Recover, Sunny Day, Psychic, Captivate, Endure, Hydro Pump, Blizzard, and Focus Energy.

Epworth - Level 4 Genderless Electrode
Electrode (Electric): Electrode move by rolling and their movement speed is dependent on the smoothness of the terrain. They are fastest on flat, smooth ground and slowest on rocky ground. On flat ground, they will outspeed almost any Pokémon. They have a 5% chance of Exploding when KOd. Electrode's Selfdestruct and Explosion attacks charge much faster than other Pokémon. They are inorganic and fight more enthusiastically in man made environments.
Hidden Power: Fairy
Signature Move: Special Training - Punching Ball
Epworth gains access to the moves Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Dynamic Punch, Shadow Punch, Mega Punch, Bullet Punch, and Power-Up Punch, with enough energy in each type that Epworth didn't have previously to use each punch twice (with the exception of Dynamic and Power-Up Punch, where they share their pool of two Dynamic Punches worth of energy). To punch, he simply rams into his opponent with his spherical body which functions similarly to a fist, and he can only use a punch once per turn. Epworth's explosions are now on par in speed with other users speed of the attacks. He also loses access to the moves Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Wild Charge, and Gyro Ball.

PPMD - Level 4 Male Marowak
Marowak (Ground): A Marowak's face is covered by a skull, which it will not remove willingly. If the helmet is shattered, it will cost 1 SP or 1 battle for Marowak to go and find another. Marowak may not use its respective bone attacks if it is not holding its bone. Its Skull Bash attack takes slightly less energy than normal to use. Marowak can see in the dark.
Hidden Power: Ghost
Signature Move: Special Attack - Bone Flail (GD)
Using major energy, PPMD creates constructs that attach to his bone, making it resemble a medieval flail, with three rusty-looking spiked balls attached by chains. He swings this forward with great speed and strength, dealing major damage to his opponent, who have a 20% chance to be poisoned from the corrosion. In realistic, the spiked balls constructs can create several cuts upon impact, possibly severe, as well as other damage (bruising, broken bones, etc) through the sheer blunt trauma caused by the blow, all up to the referee's discretion.

Kraal - Level 4 Male Exploud
Exploud (Normal): Exploud have sensitive hearing but are unaffected by sound-based status techniques like Supersonic. They still take damage from such moves where applicable. They can amplify sound moves to be at their full potency even when spread. They can see in the dark.
Hidden Power: Grass
Signature Move: Special Training - Fus Ro Dah
Kraal's sound moves are much more powerful, with his non-damaging ones' effects being more potent, and his damaging sound moves dealing 1.2x the damage with energy use increasing in the same manner as an SC boost. He also gains access to the moves Sing, Noble Roar, and Perish Song. However, due to his focus on improving his sound quality, he has lost access to the moves Take Down, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Hammer Arm, Low Kick, and once an Exploud, Giga Impact.

Menoptra, let's do this.

Oh look! I finally stopped sitting with this empty tab open and started typing words. The time is 10:03 PM US Central, factoring in UPN time. Why am adding this? So I feel obligated to ref this in a reasonable timeframe!

Rotom-Fan vs Octillery. Fun stuff! Massive props to Roto on 'mon choice here. Rotom lovers REPRESENT! What is bias? So anyway, Capricious starts getting ready to zap the shit out of Octillery, right? But Menoptra isn't gonna have any of this shit, and starts squealing in this superbly annoying high pitch tone. This jars Capricious enough that the Discharge of electric energy kind doesn't get aimed as well as it should have, but thanks to the widespread nature of the attack and Menoptra's lackluster mobility, she can't dodge it all in time, and gets zapped for a strong, though partial, hit. Capricious, unfortunately, is so befuddled by the supersonic scream from Menoptra that he can't seem to focus on making copies of himself. Pity. Menoptra, praising her lord and savior that she isn't paralyzed, shoots out an erratic ray of icy energies, which strikes the Rotom's Fan hard, causing Capricious to screech in pain. He regains his senses as the round closes, and is thankful to have escaped freezing.

Menoptra has a lead, though it's hardly insurmountable. Ice still has a good bit in the tank. Capricious is the fresher of the two, but is lower on health. All traces of confusion have left him.

Alright time to try to make "Menoptra fails and gets smacked" interesting I guess.

Menoptra hocks up a glob of gobbledygook that looks like it can burn things. Lovely. Capricious nopes the fuck out of that and erects the Berlin Wall. The gobbledygook splashes against the Berlin Wall ineffectively. Capricious!Gorbachev cackles madly at the sight of Menoptra's failure and looses a powerful discharge of electric nukes at Menoptra. Yes. Electrically powered Nuclear Weapons. I'm the ref and I made a Cold War motif with the Berlin Wall for the round for I'm fucking rolling with it no matter how little sense it makes. Menoptra avoids both radiation poisoning and paralysis, to Capricious misfortune, and decides to retaliate with some high-tech weaponry of his own- ROCKet Launchers! Ahahahaha I'm so fucking punny. I'm sure you're all dying of laughter. Anyway, Menoptra goes all "MR GORBACHEV TEAR DOWN THIS WALL" and Capricious is like "no u" and Menoptra's like "kk" and then he releases all of his ROCKet launchers at the wall so Capricious is like "ALRIGHT ALRIGHT JESUS FUCK I'LL TEAR IT DOWN" and then he tears it down and they all live happily ever after.

By which I mean they continue fucking eachother up next round.

Probably.

Unless somebody switches.

Menoptra was the only one to take damage. Has plenty of poison left, Rock is at half. Capricious has 1/2 Psychic energy. Both are good for two. Screen is shattered.

So Capricious Charges up a lovely electrical Beam of energy and shoots the thin little thing at Menoptra, who yelps a bit but really shrugs it off for the most part. Poor Capricious didn't even get a boost off the attack. RIP. Menoptra responds in a much bigger way, with another slew of Rocks, Blasted over to Capricious that cause the fan to groan in pain. The Rotom, thinking quickly, creates three copies of himself, but alas, Menoptra is one stop ahead of him, and destroys all the clones with an Icy blast of cold Wind. The cold airs still even hit Capricious himself for a small hit, even chilling him slightly. Capricious is rightfully disgruntled by all this as the round ends.

Menoptra is establishing a lead, having just barely exited the first third while Capricious is sitting on the midpoint. Menoptra is slightly tiring, wouldn't mind a break but could go for two, while Capricious is still good for two.

Roto your 8 AM orders make me cry inside

Menoptra decides the best course of action right now is to vomit ink all over Capricious's face. Euuuuughhhhh. Capricious decides to shut his eyes because ink in his eyes makes him sad. The gook still hurts, though. Capricious then opens his eyes, and, vision uninhibited, pumps out a powerful Discharge, striking Menoptra hard for a powerful blow, though amazingly Menoptra is left free of paralysis.

Capricious shrank Menoptra's lead this round, but not by much. He's approaching the final third while Menoptra is right at the midpoint. Both will be fresh next round.

Passively close the distance as you pump them full of more Discharge. QC Substitute after, but replace with Thunder if you for some reason cannot

Capricious charges himself with electric energy as he approaches Menoptra, but the Octiller starts the round off with a lovely, ear-decimating wail that makes Capricious, who had been about to fire his electric blast, stop and wish he was never born. While Capricious regains his composure, Menoptra grins evilly and creates an orb of ground energy. Menoptra hurls it while Capricious prepares his next move, and the ground energy covers the shortened distance and smacks Capricious before he can get off his technique. The Rotom shrieks before creating a body double, completely unbeknownst to Menoptra.

Capricious is now pretty deep into the final third. Has a sub up and is pretty peppy, so that's nice. Menoptra took no damage and didn't use all that much energy. Will be great for two.

I had the initiative and QC Sub is essentially instant. Even with the conditional, QC Sub shouldve happened first

Between the conditional, you purposefully closing the distance, Mud Shot taking less energy, and the Rotom needing a moment to regain composure after Screech, I think I was correct in having Mud Shot go off first. If you hadn't had Rotom move nigh within melee range of Menoptra, causing the attack to have almost no distance to cover, you might have a point in that the conditional and screech might have been counteracted by Substitute being a relatively quick attack, but with the circumstances as they are I'm going to leave the reffing as such, though if you're still vehemently against my decision I absolutely encourage you to get opinions from the Q/A. c:

By the way, as a general note I would greatly prefer it if in the future you respect my discretion as the ref and not impose your opinion on how the round should have played out on me like it's fact. Asking questions and getting clarification on stuff is good; hell, I appreciated it to help me better myself as a referee. Making proclamations about how a round should or should not have gone comes off, however, as rude and nonconstructive the vast majority of the time, at least the way I see it.

Menoptra kicks off this round by conjuring a lovely surf wave. Capricious responds by conjuring up a wall to save him from special attacks... but whoopsie, Surf is physical. The Light Screen shatters without stopping much of the Surf wave at all. The wave crashes onto Capricious' body double, who disappears into a flash of light. The real Capricious, however, managed to avoid damage from the blow. Lucky him! Menoptra, with eyes on her real foe now, shoots a Scalding-hot blast of water toward him, and Capricious screams in pain as the boiling water makes contact, though no burns occur. Capricious, grinning deviously, pumps out a shitload of electricity once again, though by some merciful status god Menoptra is not afflicted with paralysis. RNG just really hates secondary affects in this matchup I guess *shrug*

Capricious is now just into critical, and out of psychic energy entirely. Can make two, so that's something. Menoptra is thissssss close to the final third of health, and is likewise good for two next round. Fire energy is just fine.
