Nyna to battle! No don't ask me how to pronounce that name. I just hit my keyboard with my head and kept it.

Hyper Voice to a fancy Dragon Breath.

Set up a Light Screen, and then after she pulls off her attacks, leap in for an Ice Punch to the gut!

Round 1: The power of Screens.
As the two combatants face off across a lawn, overseen by a boy with a Zubat who is reffing this match, they begin proceedings by hurling two Pokeballs into the arena, revealing Nyna the Bagon for zero, and Genie, Kayla's shiny Meditite.

Bagon (Dragon): Bagon's skulls are very tough and, as a result, attacks Bagon performs with their head do 1.1x damage, while any physical attack that strikes Bagon's skull will only do 80% damage. Bagon can see in the dark.
[Dragon]: Dragon-types tend to be strong swimmers and fliers, though they are not always as agile as other Pokémon. They fight more enthusiastically in warm climates but are less enthusiastic in colder ones. They are resistant to being burned. They have slightly more Fire energy than other Pokémon if they naturally learn attacks of that type.

Meditite (Fighting/Psychic): Meditite meditates constantly and therefore have a very sharp mind. This makes them resistant to mind-altering statuses. Their Meditate and Calm Mind are slightly more effective and their default stance causes them to hover a foot above the ground when using these moves. Meditite can see in the dark.
[Fighting]: Fighting-type Pokémon train extensively, more than any other Pokémon type, which gives them greater endurance and readiness than other Pokémon and allows them to push themselves harder for longer. They are more accurate with their physical blows and are more adept at blocking and countering the physical strikes of attackers. They fight more enthusiastically in urban environments but are not adversely affected by more natural surroundings.
[Psychic]: Psychic-type Pokémon are much more proficient with telekinesis than other Pokémon. Thus, they can use Psychic to move and manipulate targets with ease. Psychic type Pokémon are resistant to flinching and have higher levels of focus and concentration than other Pokémon. They are resistant to attacks which induce confusion or other mental effects. They have limited ability to read minds and are thus more adept at dodging attacks than might be expected and able to mitigate the effects of accuracy reducing attacks. This telepathy does not work on Dark typed Pokémon.

Genie begins the round, erecting a Screen of pure Light before it, clearly anticipating a special assault from the dragon. Almost on cue, the Bagon unleashes a loud yell, its Voice supercharged to Hyper frequencies! Luckily for Genie, the Light Screen tanks the hit in the face LIKE A BOSS. Seeing this, Nyna unleashes a pulse of her innate Dragon Breath! ...Which still gets eaten by that Light Screen, causing it to shatter from damage dealt to it. Satisfied with his creation doing its job right, Genie charges a bunch of Ice energies into its fist, before slamming a vicious Punch into the Bagon, causing it to yell in pain, but thankfully avoiding any side effects from the damage.

Summary
Genie went untouched this round, which is more than can be said for Nyna, who crashed through most of its first third. Energy-wise, both used similar, and are both well into their first third. Genie has enough Ice left for another Ice Punch. Both are good for two, Kayla to order.

Alright, Genie, let's go! Since you're up close, use your fighting prowress to use a Force Palm against your opponent before throwing them with a Psychic wave!

Now I remember why I hate fighting Psychic types, stupid screens for days.

Give'em a Shadow Claw then Aerial Ace, if you can't move use Dragon Pulse instead.

Round 2: Blow for Blow
Genie decides its time for a show of sheer, overriding Force, ramming its Palm into Nyna's body, knocking it back and to the floor, the dragon being fortunate enough to avoid any lasting effects. Standing back up, the Bagon quickly dashes back into melee range, slashing at the Psychic type with a Claw of Shadows! The Meditite's eyes widen, before being sent tumbling by the supereffective blow. Deciding it might be best to keep that Bagon at a distance, Genie prepares to use its Psychic powers to throw it back! Nyna has other plans however, and like an Ace, starts running at the Meditite on its stubby little Bagon legs, its body charged with Aerial energy, only for the Psychic wave to knock it off its feet and back a couple or three feet.

Summary
Genie took its first hit this round, sliding through a good chunk of its first third. Nyna wasn't without damage either though, and has dropped to barely above the midpoint. Energy-wise, Genie has just left its first third behind, with Nyna barely inside of its own first third. Nyna has enough Ghost for another Shadow Claw, and enough Flying for another two Aerial Aces.

Zero to order.

dw Kayla, I have just as much issues ordering Bide.

Round 3: To Slay a Dragon. AKA, if in doubt, nuke it.

Nyna starts charging up a Pulse of her own Dragon energies! Genie sees this, and immediately sets up a red aura, ready to take whatever life and the dragon throws at him. Not a minute after, the Bagon unleashes the spheroid of energy, slamming into the Meditite, who stumbles backwards, his red aura growing. Seemingly ignoring this, the Bagon once more begins running, charging his body with Aerial power as she runs, thinking about flying (Because Bagon want to fly one day?) like an Ace! At the last second, she unpredictably dodges to the side and strikes, sending Genie back a bit further, but charging the red aura to breaking point! Genie stands up, having Bided his time long enough, and strikes, the red aura becoming a vicious beam that strikes the Bagon in the face, sending her flying into the dirt, where she lies unmoving.

Nyna is unable to battle! Zero, last mon out please!

Summary
Genie took some harsh hits, leaving him on the wrong side of his health midpoint. He also blew some serious energy, leaving him halfway through his total energy. He is tiring now, and would appreciate a breather.

Round 3: At the Speed of Sand(Shrew)
Recalling their fallen ally, Zero wastes no time in sending out their final battler, namely a Sandshrew with the oh-so-imaginative name of San.

Sandshrew (Ground): Sandshrew fight more enthusiastically sandy or dusty areas. Their Defense Curl technique will protect them more than most Pokémon and they are able to bounce when rolled up, which reduces damage they might receive from heavy impacts and may be used to travel. Sandshrew can see in the dark and have bodies full of sand, letting them produce Sandstorms without relying on the sand in the arena.
[Ground]: Ground-type Pokémon are considered to be immune to electricity while standing on the ground. If a Ground Pokémon is in the air, they take 0.75x the usual damage from Electric-type attacks. If a Ground-type is wet, electric attacks affect it normally (unless the Pokémon is naturally wet/slimy, like Quagsire). Ground types do not suffer from recoil damage when using Electric attacks in the water. Ground-type Pokémon are more adept at manipulating outdoor and 'natural' environments than other Pokémon and will spend less energy using Dig, Earthquake etc. They typically have slightly more Rock energy than other Pokémon if they naturally learn attacks of that type.

The small shrew wastes no time in building up Flying energy, launching himself like an Aerial Ace at the poor Fighting type! Genie tries to erect a Reflective screen to tank the hit, but alas! The Sandshrew strikes before the screen can be created! The Meditite stumbles backwards, before looking up to see his foe charging the Aerial energies once more, before slamming into his foe like an Ace! The Meditite flies backwards once more, before wearily climbing to his feet.

Summary
Genie's had a break, which helped, and used basically no energy, whereas San has taken a stride into his first third, and has enough Flying for one more Aerial Ace. In terms of health, San is untouched, while Genie is into critical ranges now.

Kayla to order.

So he failed to set up a screen at all? Not even after the first hit? I figured he'd be to slow to set it up before a priority aerial ace, let alone during.

The way I saw it, Genie was partway through setting up the screen when Aerial Ace hit. There was distance for San to cover, after all, plus offtype vs STAB, so I thought it reasonable that it would have had time to at least start the screen before it got hit.

Regardless of STAB/Offtype, I still think a fresh out of a ball pokemon would pull off a super fast move before a tired pokemon would even react at all.

But whatever. Use an Ice Punch followed by a Pain Split.

Round 4: Breaking the Fighting Spirit
Genie lunges forwards, charging Ice energy into its fist, before Punching the 'shrew in the gut, causing it to wince in pain! No freeze however, and San is knocked backwards a bit, before standing up, charging Shadows into its Claw, before slashing at the Meditite, leaving it collapsed on the floor.

Genie is unable to battle, Kayla, your last Pokemon please!

San took its first hit there, sliding into the first third. Its also heading towards the second third energywise. It has half its Ghost energy left.

Get out there and surround yourself with a Sleep Powder and fire some Seed Bombs.

Round 5: Not really that well exploited...
Recalling their fallen warrior, Kayla unleashes her next threat. Or... threats. An Exeggcute named The Exploited takes to the field, to the ruin of all.

Exeggcute (Grass/Psychic): Exeggcute share a linked mind: none can be surprised unless they all are. While individually weak, they display strong group tactics, and the healthiest one will take the hits for the weakest ones. An Exeggcute is considered knocked out when all its individual eggs are.
[Grass]: Grass-type Pokémon live anywhere that can support vegetation, though most prefer temperate to tropical climates, and are adept at concealing themselves in areas with lots of vegetation. Grass-types enjoy both bright sun and rain and fight more enthusiastically in the day time, though they are not put off by fighting at night. Rainstorms will heal them slightly every round the rain falls, while excessively bright sunlight will regenerate their energy instead. Healing moves cost slightly less energy when used by Grass-types and their draining moves will heal them by a greater amount (without draining any more from the opponent) while suffering only half of the usual diminishing returns. They are immune to spore based techniques like Sleep Powder and are more adept at using such attacks themselves, creating denser concentrations of spores which are harder to disperse and more potent in their effects.

And it is the egg cluster that starts this round, producing a thick cloud of Powder, intending to put his foe to Sleep! San, seeing this, tries to drag some Rocks up from the ground to Entomb his foe, but the spores get to him before he can build the enclosure, inducing a slumber in the cute lil shrew. Grinning at his helpless foe, The Exploited generates about twelve Seeds between them all, which get launched into and explode upon its defenceless target like Bombs! This also has the added side-effect of waking the Sandshrew up.

Summary
San took a decent whack, sending it to the wrong side of its midpoint, while The Exploited went untouched. Energywise, The Exploited is well into its first third, while San used some, leaving it into its second third. San's Rock pool is capable of fuelling another couple of Tombs. Both should be good for two.
Zero to order.
