Swoobat Round 15: When You Face A Vampire Bat With Magical Powers At Night, This Happens

Olga decides that there is no need to hold back the typespam anymore. If she does not change thing here and now, this may be the last round in this match that she gets to see. Knowing how fast her opponent is, she decides to go for an attack that is notably difficult to dodge. Although she is gasping herself, her figure slumped over, she is to take a deep breath -- not to relax herself or recover from her tiredness, because it accomplishes neither of those things. Aside from lessening her already low amount of energy and making her feel more tense, it also proves to be a means of offense, and the Marshtomp is able to charge it with Icy energy, blowing it out in the form of a gust of Wind. The Zubat gives a new meaning to trying to Fly against the wind, as he hastily flaps his leathery wings, trying to rise out of the way of the attack. He would have been more successful if he had already been at some height; as it is, quite a bit of the attack manages to hit, astonishingly enough. This chills the Zubat's body, as he finds it harder to keep flapping his wings. He feels some pain, but he is in good enough condition that this is not what truly hinders him. Instead, he finds himself losing speed. Not wanting to give his opponent a chance to follow this up with a stronger attack, he decides to take away that capability by doing what he has done best in the match so far. He expends the rest of his Grass Type energy reserves without using any actual energy at all, releasing vine-like structures of light, which once again latch on to the Water Type... and she quickly realizes what is next. She finds a Giga amount of energy being Drained away from her once again, and she falls to the floor, struggling to keep battling. She cannot be glad that this is not coming from a Grass Type. That is because she is too closed to falling anyway.

Zoro again took damage. However, he is feeling as well as ever, while Olga is... not. She is into critical energy range, and is not lasting much longer. Fortunately for her, Zoro is out of Grass Type energy.

Note to self: get a Water type that won't be screwed over by 'mon with one Grass move.

Muddy Water x2. You've done well Olga.

Arcanine Round 16: Send Out Magmar, Please, I Want To Referee A Magmar

Olga can still endure plenty of punishment, but she is on the brink of collapsing due to exhaustion. Regardless of this, Zoro decides to just deal damage. With a resisted attack. He shuts his mouth in order to allow poison to flood into his buccal cavity, building up pressure inside before opening his mouth, and shooting a blast of toxins at his opponent. The Marshtomp does not react much, the pain very insignificant compared to her struggle to maintain enough vitality to continue battling in the match. She does not even stand up, but simply tilts her head up to face her opponent, a weak, unfocused expression on her face. She shuts her own mouth, bringing out some Muddy Water inside, before proceeding to squirt out the liquid in a stream. The super effective attack ensures that Olga has taken a toll on even the Zubat before going down, a screech of pain from the Poison Type sounding off like ultrasonic waves. He is prepared to use one of his most powerful attacks to try to end the Water Type, but he does not need to. The Marshtomp has reached her limit. She smiles in satisfaction, before allowing herself to crash down to the ground. As the world begins to grow even darker, her senses failing, she makes one last attempt to rise, believing that perhaps she will be able to do something more, but she cannot. Even such a strong Mud Fish Pokemon has to fall sometime.

Olga is unable to battle! Next Pokemon, and orders, please!

Zoro has fallen to his second third of health. He, however, is still well for energy.

As much as I'd like to...

Made in Heaven, back to the field.

A double Psybeam should do nicely. Use your Psychic senses, yadda yadda, you know the drill

Darmanitan Round 17: Where Is Magmar

With Olga finally succumbing, captainmisato decides that it is too difficult for him to defeat a newbie's weakened Zubat with a Magmar, and so, with the throw of a Pokeball, he sends out Made in Heaven once again. This is boring, but I cannot criticize this choice -- that would be very hypocritical of me. And after all, it makes things go faster. The Girafarig immediately opens his mouth, gathering his Psychokinetic energies to form a multicoloured, bright orb in front of it, even as the Zubat, sensing the attack, begins to glow with a fiery red aura, spreading his wings and flapping his way to a higher altitude. As the Normal Type proceeds to unleash a beautiful, yet devastating Beam of light from the orb, Zoro gives one last flap, this time utilizing the thrust to dive towards his opponent at an angle. The attack strikes him, but due to the already selfless nature of the attack, it does not succeed in preventing his own. As he nears the ground, he flaps his wings again in order to prevent impact, changing direction to face the Girafarig directly. His aura turning a bright blue, he proceeds to smash into the Long Neck Pokemon with strength that is astonishing for his small size. Struck on his notable neck, Made in Heaven cringes in pain, the Poison Type using the momentum to once again get away to quite some distance in the air. However, he does not seem to have come off unscathed, either.

Recovering from the recoil damage, the Zubat turns in the air to face his opponent, only to be greeted by another attack. The Girafarig this time begins to collect energy between his two horns, because doing the same thing over and over again in the same way quickly gets boring. The Psychic attack prepared and concentrated into a multicoloured sphere, she proceeds to once again shoot a Beam towards her Flying Type opponent, utilizing her unnatural senses in order to detect the position of her opponent. Before the Zubat can do anything this time, he is struck hard, but he still has some fight left in him. Yet again, he surrounds himself with a fiery, terrifyingly bright aura, and without a care in the world, darts towards the ground in order to build up speed. As his aura changes colour to a dazzling white and then ultimately a beautiful blue, he changes his direction to face his opponent, and Made in Heaven sees his wide-open mouth gaping at him before he is struck once again, just as hard as before. He lets out a cry of pain this time, which Zoro's sensitive ears catch. His opponent's pain brings him great joy, but it looks like he is not doing very well, the recoil from the impact once again ravaging his body.

Zoro has about dropped to his last third of health, and Made in Heaven is not far off. Made in Heaven is fine for a two mover, but Zoro is tiring.

Ok... Let's try and finish this up.
Double Brave Bird, because energy/recoil is irrelevant at this point.
Sorry if this was a crap battle, cap.

Scraggy Round 18: No Magmar

Zoro is getting tired after the immensely taxing energy usage the previous round, and his health is not doing well at all, either. He is at a Type advantage to boot, and his opponent's powerful senses are making it difficult to remain evasive, even under the cover of the darkness. He decides that all he can do now is try to go out with a bang. Yet again, he cloaks his usually bluish body with red light, the Brave Pokemon ready to get shot down like a Bird, but still appear just as majestic and powerful while he can still fight. He is not too far from his opponent this time, but is able to perform his move as impressively as before. This may be because the flashy visuals are disguising the burden of exhaustion that he is forced to bear. Suddenly transitioning into an aura of blue, he once again basically stabs his opponent with his body, and immediately regretting it and enjoying it at the same time. Making sure that it is more of the former, Made in Heaven resists the urge to react to the scorching pain, his eyes glowing a bright blue that lights up his face eerily. The air in front of his shimmers illuminatingly, before a wave of Psychokinetic energies accelerate towards the small Pokemon, consuming him with fearsome might, and sending him flying. He wails in agony, but there is nothing he can do but try yet again.

Frantically righting himself in the air, the Zubat tries to get in an attack before his opponent can finish him off once and for all, but it does not seem to be working out. His opponent is not as tired as him, and the attack he is trying to use is already a straining one. Seizing his chance, the Girafarig repeats his previous attack, because this is basically what both sides have been doing nearly throughout the battle. They have been repeating attacks. A familiar light emanates from the Psychic Type's sclerae, and as if like a shield, mysterious, otherworldly energies gather in front of her. In a final attempt to strike, Zoro manages to initiate his attack through sheer willpower, fighting against the pleas and complaints of his body and physical limits, barely managing to bring out yet another bright shroud of light. He tries to rush towards his target, but his speed is nowhere as impressive as usual, and his small size does not protect him, with his opponent having a better aim than most, and him being in a very sluggish condition. Before he can go too far, he is struck by another super effective attack, and this one turns out to be the last straw. His strength is resisted, and he goes limp, silently falling to the ground, remaining motionless.

Zoro is unable to battle! Miss Steak, Made in Heaven, Olga and captainmisato are the winners of this battle!

Very much decided by matchups. One mistake was to switch to Psyduck against Girafarig. A look at Girafarig's movepool would have been helpful. Given your opponent's squad, there was not much you could do unless you had managed to pull off a Mean Look + U-Turn combination of your own, but a switch to something like Clefairy may have been more useful. He has a Mega Mawile, but Clefairy is great, and could have held its own to some extent. Also, I have been making fun at various points in the match, but please know that it is all meant in good fun.

captainmisato receives 4 Knockouts and 8 Trainer Points.
Ironthunder receives 4 Trainer Points.
DarkLucarioADV receives 8 Service Points.

GG Ironthunder, and thank you very much MtG.

Looking at your Squad Summary two leads that stand out to me as possible better options than Polygon would have been Froakie and Elekid. Both have a switching move, which would have forced me to use one of my own with a switching move--though I could have countered Froakie similarly to Psyduck with Girafarig, I wouldn't have had much to deal with Elekid, putting you in a neutral matchup that you could have won with paralysis shenanigans.

Also, if you want to use Porygon, always always always use Conversion or Conversion2--especially if it's in a bad matchup. It is partially luck-based as to what type it turns into, but if you had gotten, say, Flying, a Conversion2--Hidden Power x2 three-mover would have put a huge dent in Ledian and forced me to U-turn immediately to something else, giving you a lot more momentum.

Thanks again to all involved.
