Trapinch UPN PASBL Gym Trainer Match: Miror vs T-Bolt

Miror (GT) vs. T-Bolt (C)
4 v 4
Singles
Equiall 3
72 HR DQ
Switch = Gym
Slapstick
Mt. Gongo
Spoiler: show
Deep in a dead wasteland lies Mt. Gongo, a semi-active volcano surrounded by miles of ash. This ash plain is the constant reminder of the horrors past, and in fact the surface that is walked upon is about 40 feet above the actual ground level, so deep are the volcanic remains. This compressed ash, while being solid enough to walk on and channeling Ground type moves like Earthquake and Bulldoze well, is still is easily dug through. Embedded in the layers of ash are plenty of volcanic rocks, which are easily manipulatable. Centuries of eruptions have left the air completely devoid of any moisture, making Grass, Water, and Ice types that aren't familiar with the arena all uncomfortable, with moves of the latter two types suffering a reduction in power as there is no water vapor to pull from, as well as the sheer amount of heat being generated by the mountain. A thick cloud of ash has engulfed the area, raining down the volcanic dust constantly, and thickening to almost impossible levels 20 feet above the top of the ash layer, leaving Flying types unable to ascend above that height due to the sheer unsurvivability. This ash cloud also prevents any sort of weather from being called upon, as neither sun nor clouds have any effect, which also makes moves dependent on the sun/moon nigh impossible. Sandstorms can be whipped up however, using either self-produced sand or the abundant ash. Battles will obviously take place on the field of ash, with the great mountain looming in the background, smoke billowing out perpetually.

After Golurk-ing the the gym thread, I saw this match was not picked up. You guys had some terrable luck with the wait. Let's make up for some lost time and get this match done in a Trapinch.

Allons-y!

Abraham - Level 3 Male Camerupt (Cameruptite Attached)
Signature Move: Special Attack - Grassy Plume (GR)
Functioning similarly to Lava Plume, Abraham spews forth a heavy amount of Grass energy, which deals equivalent damage upon impact. It also has a substantial chance of making the opponent drowzy. This attack can be used up to twice in a match. Abraham, when a Camerupt, will not be able to enter his berserker state.

Dulcian - Level 3 Male Onix
Signature Move: Special Resistance - The Beachcomber's Nightmare
Dulcian has become a pure Ground-type, gaining the weaknesses and resistances associated with such a typing. He retains Rock-type familiarity, having enough Rock-type energy to fuel three Stone Edges. His body is less dense than previously (about 20% lighter), due to being made out of sand as opposed to solid rock. No longer being made of Rock at all has affected Dulcian's movepool as well, as he loses access to the move Rock Polish.

Baymax - Level 3 Genderless Golett
Signature Move: Special Attack - Phantasm Fists (GH)
Using considerable Ghost energy, Baymax creates two ghostly hands, similar to a Haunter's, that float around the Golett until called upon. When using any move that would require use of Baymax's hands/fists, it has the option to use one of the spectral hands instead of his regular ones. Each hand can preform two successful attacks before dissipating, and can travel up to 20 feet away from the Golett. The attacks used by the hands are preformed with the same amount of and type energy as usual with an increase of light typeless energy, and also do the same damage, but the hands move much more quickly than Baymax typically can. This attack can be used twice per match.

Pancake - Level 3 Female Stunfisk
Signature Move: Special Training - I Can Show You the World
Pancake now has a flight ceiling of 15 feet for her levitation. She is also able to move a bit faster through the air than others of her species. Pancake can no longer use the moves Magnet Rise or Eerie Impulse.

PPMD - Level 3 Male Cubone
Signature Move: Signature Attack - Bone Flail (GD)
Using major energy, PPMD creates constructs that attach to his bone, making it resemble a medieval flail, with three rusty-looking spiked balls attached by chains. He swings this forward with great speed and strength, dealing major damage to his opponent, who have a 20% chance to be poisoned from the corrosion. In realistic, the spiked balls constructs can create several cuts upon impact, possibly severe, as well as other damage (bruising, broken bones, etc) through the sheer blunt trauma caused by the blow, all up to the referee's discretion.

Shakri - Level 3 Male Piloswine
Special Attack - Diamond Tusks (IC)
Shakri charges down the opponent and tears at them viciously with his tusks, causing major damage for equivalent energy. In realistic, this attack can cause lacerations, severity up to the ref's discretion.

Let's get this show on the road.

Thanks for picking this up Aposteriori!

Good luck Miror, I'm pretty psyched for this match.

Quetzalcoatl- lvl 3 male Dunsparce
Special Training: Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee
Quetzalcoatl is an agile flyer and decently fast in air (about as fast as a Pidgeotto), fluttering his wings to move in short bursts of speed. Neglecting burrowing however, has made him forget the moves Dig, Bulldoze and Drill run (nullifying most of his SC). He can be released from his pokeball in flight, but automatically lands when in critical energy range or when extremely tired.
Hidden power grass

Anura- lvl 3 female Frogadier
Special Technique- Echolocation
Anura can use Echoed Voice to locate its opponent even when its vision is obscured. The technique allows Anura to accurately locate it's opponent if it is hit by the move. Echolocation only allows Anura to picture the shape of the opponent though, so it will fail if the Pokemon being targeted is hidden or similar to its surroundings (like a trevenant among trees or an oddish in tall grass). Echolocation will still work if the opponent uses substitute. In indoor arenas or closed spaces, echoed voice will reverberate off the walls of the arena/enclosed space, and Anura will be able to detect her opponent's location for the next round as well. Due to being trained to hear the reflected sound, Anura is more easily affected by sound based moves.
Hidden power :Grass

Bags- lvl 3 male Hariyama
Special attack: Anti-air Fistile (fighting)
Taking careful aim, Bags punches the air, releasing a concentrated, fast-moving burst of solid fighting type energy which hits his opponent for solid damage. The energies attempt to knock flying types out of the sky, and are hence super effective on them (to clarify, the move doesn't work like smack down, the first part was just to explain the logic behind its type effectiveness). The energy does not dissipate over long distances. Concentrated bursts of energy are hard to produce, and Bags cannot use this move more than three times per battle.
Bags has forgotten how to use Whirlpool and mimic.
Hidden power dark

Batwing- level 3 male Gliscor
Special Training: Advanced Rock climb
The mounds Batwing creates using magic Rock climb disintegrate 3 rounds after the move is used. Batwing can also infuse his claw with Flying energy to use a Flying type version of Rock climb, that uses Flying energy and deals Flying type damage.
Hidden power Fairy

Tlaloc: lvl 3 male Lombre (uplevel)
Special attack: Charge bolt (electric)
Using considerable energy, Lombre sends a weak bolt of electricity up into the clouds. The charge builds up and after 1 to 3 rounds, comes down as a flash of lightning (like future sight). The electric type damage done depends on how high the target is above the ground.
greater than 30 feet- Heavy
on the ground- Good
everything in between- Considerable.
hidden power ground

Stormsurge- lvl 3 Male Marshtomp
Special training: Fish out of water
Thanks to this special layer of skin that prevents loss of moisture, Stormsurge is not adversely effected by hot and dry conditions, and his water type attacks are not reduced in power in these conditions. Moves that attempt to remove moisture from Stormsurge's body such as Freeze dry will be ineffective when used against him, doing damage without any modification to type effectiveness (i.e freeze dry would do neutral damage to him just like any other ice type move). He has forgotten how to use Mirror coat and curse and has lost his resistance to fire type moves.
hidden power psychic

Starting off with Stormsurge

The amount of Water types in that squad is too damn high, and Marshtomp's tailored sig makes me sad ;~; This also reminds me of why if Octillery goes TL5 I should most definitely get an uplevel Torterra.

You know what, let's make this interesting. Abraham, to battle.

Mega Evolve. Start off with a roar of supremacy, and then body slam him to pin him into submission.

Well, I didn't have this gym in mind when I came up with that sig, it just happens to work well here too. And at least I didn't pull a Connor and bring all five of my water types :P

Shake off the roar and intercept the body slam with a Waterfall to his side. Earth power, but if you end up pinned, Dig out from under him and strike instead.

It was not easy to find this location. After a helicopter trip and some hiking, both trainers and I are finally at the peak this wretched wasteland. Mt. Gongo is not to be taken lightly. It will bury any weak soul. Is it too soon for that? The challenger takes a quick glance at the gym trainer's team. With a signature that is surely to ease some of the arena stress, T-Bolt sends out Stormsurge the Marshtomp. Miror is worried that he does not have an uplevel Torterra to deal with the woes of water pokemon. His next best choice is to send out the fearless Abraham the Camerupt.

These ashes are getting mighty irritating, I think I'm going to do an outfit change and pull out a pair of goggles. *trips up and presses down on pokeball*

Scorpion: "You waste my time, sorcerer!"

Jee, when things couldn't get more interesting.

Quote:
Marshtomp (Water/Ground): Being a wet and slimy Pokémon, attacks involving grabs or holds are difficult to execute and prevents them from being affected by Electric attacks when wet. They may also use their fin to detect things happening in the arena, allowing a better idea of where foes are even when disguised. Their mud based attacks are more effective than normal. As starter Pokémon, their Water-type attacks are slightly more powerful when they drop below 1/4 health.

Camerupt (Fire/Ground): Camerupt tend to be only slightly-less apathetic than their Numel bretheren, although their higher intelligence gives them a better ability to follow orders. However, they become extremely angry when struck in the face. A Camerupt struck in the face by an opponent will focus almost exclusively on that target to the exclusion of all other concerns unless something else starts to become a bigger problem or gets in the way of Camerupts's revenge. Until its target has fallen Camerupt will be extremely emotional and responsive but more vulnerable to confusion. Camerupt will also be winded for a few moments after its berserker rage has ended, with longer periods of rage meaning more downtime. A trainer may write a note in their bio stating that their Camerupt has been trained not to enter in to the enraged state in this way.
Let's just take a moment and put things perspective. That is fairly intimidating, if you asked me.

Scorpion: "Save your pity."

...Getting back to the match, with a flick of the wig, our GT presses down a sphere located inside a comb buried deep within his afro. Camerupt suddenly glows as he enters a cacoon. A Mega Camerupt emerges from the brilliant light display.

Quote:
In its Mega Forme, Camerupt becomes an active volcano, constantly issuing lava. Its lava-based attacks are x1.2 stronger. Because of the intense heat radiated by Mega Camperupt, Water based attacks deal only half damage as they evaporate before they can affect it. They do not take extra Water damage for having an 'exposed flame'.
So just when you think Marshtomp would take advantage of the small Mega evolving sequence, he instead waits it out until his opponent attacks. Abraham instantly reverberates a loud Roar across the field as he begins to move in. Stormsurge is clearly intimidated, the size and mass of Abraham being huge contributors to his squirmish demeanor. As Mega Camerupt rushes in with enthusiasm favoring him in his reaction time, he takes a sudden jump. He only manages to get his front feet off the ground, and all of that weight is slammed on top of Marshtomp before he gets to react out of roar or use his own attack. Clearly the water typed Pokemon is pinned under the massive body of his opponent. He is utterly paralyzed and unable to concentrate properly, forgoing his own attack. He tries to escape, and he fails yet again as full body paralysis does not let him move a muscle. Marstomp can barely move and does not have a free appendage to retaliate.

Abraham has the health lead for now. He is good to go. Stormsurge is hurting, paralyzed, and fresh.

Return Stormsurge. You aren't going to like a dose of grass typespam.

Batwing, enter the fray! released a good distance away from Abraham.

Kick up some ash with a Sandstorm. Then strafe to the side and use Earthquake.

Amusing comparison, especially considering that Camerupt gets even larger upon Mega Evolution. Camerupt <3

Approach and fire off a Lava Plume first chance you get (yay giant volcano monster). If he's on the ground to start with or has been knocked from the air by plume/sandstorm, Body Slam. Otherwise, Roar him out of the earthquake as he approaches.

The challenger is smart to recall his pokemon before he endures any additional pain, and soil his chances of winning.

Scorpion: "GET OVER HERE"

...Stormsurge is tucked away inside his pokeball, and he will have to worry about paralysis later on. For a second, T-Bolt thinks who he will send out next. As it turns out, he picks Batwing the Gliscor.

Scorpion: "What is this?"

You are not the only Gliscor around?

*Costume Change*

Scorpion: "Hanzo Hasashi is dead. My name, is Scorpion."

Okay? Orz

Quote:
Gliscor (Ground/Flying): Gliscor are not true fliers. Instead, they glide. If needed to, however, they are able to fly for short distances, and their claws allow them to grab and climb relatively smooth surfaces. Upon evolving, their claws became much stronger and attacks that use them are 1.2x stronger then normal. They are also able to use a form of echolocation, allowing them to see through illusions, reveal hidden Pokémon and have a better sense of their surroundings in low-visibility situations. Gliscor can see in the dark and fight more enthusiastically at night. They remain immune to Electric moves when in flight, though are affected as normal in wet conditions.
Taking into consideration that switching takes a little bit of time, Mega Camerupt has the chance to erupt like a geyser and send out a terrifying rain of lava from a distance. Courtesy of his own lava flow, the attack is even strong. The Plume of viscous Lava crash lands on top of Gliscor, the intense flames eating through much of his flesh. Okay, maybe they did not eat through his flesh. He screams from the top of his lungs only to realize that his full back and gliders are have been burned to the point of debilitating his flight and almost grounding him. Batwing is not amused by his current circumstance. Camerupt keeps moving in, but his opponent is already in the air. Battling through the pain, Batwing kicks up some sand, agitating the preexisting particles of the arena. In no time a fully sized Sandstorm kicks up, leaving Batwing in the air and in the midst of the Sandstorm debris. Abraham, who's natural habitat is desert-like, is unfazed by sand fluttering around the arena.

Batwing has to shift gears quickly. His gliding is not perfect, but his resolve is. Fighting through the aches of gliding just a bit higher to maximize the pain of Earthquake, Gliscor tries to stumble right into the sand. Mid Air, Gliscor takes a nose dive to agitate the soil. Abraham seems to be catching on to what is going on. Right as Gliscor starts to have his pincers glow, Abraham establishes his dominance with a thundering Roar. The sicking noise makes Gliscor immediately cringe and crash lands into the ground, spiking up his burn pain just a tad more. Things have taken a turn for the worst for our young challenger. Camerupt is literally in front of the puny Gliscor as the Sandstorm starts to die out.

Batwing seems to be in worse condition than his previous partner. He is burned and that will affect his energy levels in the long run, considering that he was affected on both gliders. Abraham went untouched and he is good for two.

Um, questioning how Abraham managed to time his roar to interrupt the earthquake when he wouldn't be able to see what Batwing was doing clearly through the sandstorm.

Okay, lets run through the sequence of events.

1.You switched, allowing Camerupt to gain a slight advantage with his orders for initiative. From a distance, he used Lava Plume.

2.You were grounded, making Camerupt hesitate and rush in to fulfill his conditional. By the time he made it over, you were mid air using Sandstorm.

3.Since you now have to crash into the ground to use earthquake, Camerupt had ample time to use Roar which has quasi-priority in ASB since it is a frequency-based sound attack.

This led to the failure of Earthquake and Roar functioning very well since Mega Camerupt is much bigger and heavier than Gliscor. It might be deceiving over at Veekun, but the added height for Gliscor in their comparison is due to a head-tail measurement which is an inaccurate representation of Gliscor's height. I hope that answers your inquiry!

Oh, Camerupt can see well inside a sandstorm because they are a natural ground type and their setting is usually desert-like or arid.

Spoiler: show
Example, BW2, you can find them outside during a sandstorm:

Unless otherwise noted, ground typed Pokemon are basically unhindered during a sandstorm since that is their niche.

Sorry for deleting my post, I felt I was forcing my opinion.

I thought the seeing-through-sandstorm niche was only specific to the Krookodile line? I don't see it mentioned in the ground SC either.

I'll ref q/a it just in case. I'm pretty convinced that most grounds are not hindered by sandstorm.

I'm going to go ahead and rule that Camerupt has good enough eye sight inside a sandstorm, hindered to the point that he can still make out the silhouette of Gliscor. I don't see it being terribly hindered by sandstorm.

Gligar is heavier than Gliscor. wut.

Stretch your arms out so that your claws aren't pinned. LT Agility if you end up paralyzed. DC Earthquake with your claws twice.

possible 3

... So Camerupt is given the chance to just raise his front two legs and Body Slam the Gliscor. Batwing extends his arms as Camerupt falls flat on him. I think he was trying to pray to the RNG gods not to induce paralysis. Uuuuu. That must of hurt. Abraham lands on the back of Batwing, giving the Gliscor very little mobility to his arms. I mean, its not like he has 360 control of them like Drapion? With the massive weight pinning him down, Gliscor is losing concentration and he is paralyzed to the point that he cannot react to use st agility. The thing is, he actually needs space to vibrate, and the massive Camerupt is not proving that at the moment. Let's not forget that the burn marks are being severely aggravated.

Abraham takes a few steps back just to expose the back of his opponent's head. Well, he also ends up exposing the claws somewhat. Abraham takes a huge glob of Toxic and dumps it into the back of Batwing. The Gliscor is fully drenched by the toxins that begin to seep in. This is his moment where Batwing tries to move a claw and suddenly paralysis does not kick in. He swings his arm around like one of those noodle folks at car sales and smacks the giant Camerupt with DC Earthquake on one of his side legs with a glancing blow. The Fire Pokemon Roars in pain, moving a few steps backward and dismounting his opponent. The attack resulted in a partial, but it at least took the giant Camerupt off of his small frame, by comparison.

Batwing seizes the day to smack his opponent yet again with a second concentrated earthquake, just as he starts to get back up, Paralysis holds him down. Yep, Batwing utterly failed, wasting his chance to attack in the process, sadly. A faint red glow reminds him of the woes of being burned. Sad.

Batwing is trailing behind on health. He is fresh and paralyzed. Abraham was finally hurt, but not too bad. He would like a breather.

T-Bolt retains his three mover.

LT agility does ease paralysis, but you need to have space to vibrate and clear the paralysis. Since camerupt was on top of you, you did not have the space to use it.

Okay, just one more question. Why did I use up my three mover if Batwing was unable to use Agility?

My train of though was that it was attempted, wasting the move slot. It failed all together, so the three mover should remain. Edited in.
