Round Twenty-Four: oh hey fifth page

As rain falls all around our battlers, it seems something of an impasse has been reached. With Aeria sleeping softly on the clouds next to him, Andrew shifts his ungainly body to face her. Grinning at his advantage, he puckers up his lips and spits out a Leech Seed that sticks onto the unaware Clefairy, vines erupting from it to ensnare her and dig into her skin. Seemingly unperturbed by the parasitic plant currently surrounding her, Aeria begins mumbling in her sleep, summoning up a randomized Sleep Talk attack. Lowering her head with her eyes still closed, she propels herself into Andrew’s side with a Headbutt, bonking the verdant reptile and making him wince slightly. He responds by concentrating and forming an array of green energy tendrils that latch onto Aeria, the Giga Drain tentacles glowing as they spirit away life force from her body. Andrew breathes in, somewhat refreshed, while Aeria stirs slightly, her eyelids fluttering but not opening. Aeria continues her soliloquy with another Sleep Talk, this time going for a barrage of Facade blows. Unfortunately, her meek punches don’t do as much damage to Andrew as they could if she had an actual status to cover up rather than just being off in dreamland. The Leech Seed vines glow and Andrew feels a bit more refreshed as he gets a bit of energy back. Rain rain rain. Andrew appreciates the rain.

Summary:
Andrew is right above critical and is refreshed, if not quite fully. Aeria is getting a leetle low on energy but she’s got much left to spare. She’ll wake up beginning of next round.

Shouldn't sleep be counted, since mental afflictions are?

Tri Attack twice, replacing either with Sleep Talk if asleep.

Make this count.

Round Twenty-Five: This Round's Theme Song Is: One Week

Let’s get this show back on the road, shall we? Sorry for the delay. Life is crazy bonkers.

Yawning as the raindrops fall on her, Aeria’s eyes flutter open, her snoozing cut short in the downpour. Rubbing her face, she blinks, remembering her trainer’s orders through the murky veil of half-sleep. Shaking off her remaining drowziness, she brings together her hands to charge yet another three-pronged Tri Attack...but Andrew is already one step ahead of her. Well, actually, more like one jump ahead of her, as he’s thrown his Body into the air, Slamming his hefty form right onto Aeria. Screaming out as she’s crushed into the fluffy clouds beneath Andrew’s body, she discharges a bit of a half-baked version of the attack from her pinned position, the energy causing a small boom on Andrew’s underside but not perturbing him too much. The Clefable, currently in a very dark, claustrophobia-inducing, and wet thanks to the rain space, attempts to charge up another Tri Attack...but it appears the force of Andrew’s blow has left her muscular system out of whack. She grits her teeth as she locks up, spasms rocking her body. Andrew feels her struggling and squished underneath him and smiles, simply taking in the soothing rain. Concentrating, he grows several glowing roots from his underside, the woody appendages Ingraining themselves into the pink fluff below. Though the clouds aren’t all that nutritious, he’s still able to suck out a little life from them, feeling himself grow a bit healthier.

Summary:
Andrew’s net health hardly changed at all this round, while Aeria is approaching critical. Both are essentially fresh, Andrew due to low energy use and some energy gain, while Aeria had a forced one-mover. Do remember Andrew's still uncomfortable because of the arena, though. Rain Dance has about 3 rounds left. Aeria’s paralysis will fade away beginning to middle of next round.

Sludge Bomb to the face. Again if she is not down.

Note: the clouds are full of life.

Safeguard to block the second Sludge Bomb, rip out those roots and get Andrew off. Double-Edge to end this match.

Round Twenty Six: Almost There

Note noted.

Rearing up awkwardly on his haunches, Andrew points his face downwards at the still-crippled Aeria, struggling against his own Ingrained roots. With some strain, he manages to get in a position to fire a Sludge Bomb volley at the Clefable beneath him, the sickening orbs exploding all over her. Even with the mystical mist around her sapping away some of their strength, Aeria reels in pain as the concussive poisons knock her into being of sound body. Unfortunately for her, however, Andrew can’t maintain his semi-upright position much longer due to his roots, forcing him to come back down on top of her and pin her once more. Thinking that this is his chance to end his opponent once and for all, Andrew repeats his maneuver, straining his roots as he rears up again. As he points his maw at Aeria, however, it appears that the Clefable has other plans. She suddenly expands a glowing Safeguard dome from her body, the white force field easily absorbing Andrew’s second Sludge Bomb and catching him in his reared-up position. Aeria strains and winces inside the dome as she expands it even more, a surprised Andrew crying out as his already-strained roots are ripped from the clouds. The massive Mega Venusaur slides down the side of the dome, hastily retracting his roots as the energy field disappears, revealing a strained but standing Aeria beneath it. With a roar, the Clefable propels herself forward, going into a flying Double Edge tackle that slams into Andrew’s side...causing him to stumble, but not to faint. As Aeria comes to a rest on the ground, both battlers look to be in pretty bad shape. They stare each other down amid the pouring rain, a dramatic showdown sure to take place.

Summary:
Andrew and Aeria are neck and neck, both just into critical health. Aeria has entered critical energy, with Safeguard being more taxing than usual, and she’s now less fresh than Andrew is. But enthusiasm, etc.

Round Twenty Seven: Byyyyyye

Nodding at each other, Aposteriori looks at Andrew. Both of them know that the odds are very solidly against them. The trainer shoots out a red recall beam, sucking Andrew back into his Pokeball. Both trainers grin at each other as the rain clouds begin to recede, the sun shining on the pastel pink Clouds of Passaj once more. Both know in their hearts that it was a battle well fought.

Andrew has been recalled! Machamp-X wins by forfeit!

Machamp-X, chantay you stay. You receive 4 KOs and 8 TP.
Aposteriori, sashay away. You receive 4 TP.
captainmisato receives 5 SP for the weekly bonus with TAs

"Now remember," says the referee as he opens his pink parasol once more. "If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you gon love somebody else? Can I get an amen up in here?" He jumps off the edge of the clouds, floating downwards as sparkly pink fireworks illuminate the afternoon sky.

It was a pleasure to ref such a skill-filled battle. I've learned a lot from reffing this and I'm glad to know you two now~ Machamp, though you played well, I would seriously suggest toning the arena down just a bit. Fairy is a good enough type that it still would have been quite within your ability to win without the enthusiasm manipulation being so over the top. Good battle, everyone, and thanks.

I payed close attention to your TAs. They overlap with your gaps in the reffing bonus. You deserve the full SP amount, so don't be afraid to claim it. Real life shouldn't comp you out of hard earned SP.

Good match, DT, though I would have suggested playing more offensively with Skarmory as you had the typespam, and Mime could always outplay Skarmory defensively. Great reffings, Misato!
