Round Five: A Drama in Three Moves

Sheba outstretches her arms and breathes in deeply, preparing to channel her inner opera soprano. Closing her eyes and getting on a look of dramatic sorrow, she pushes her vocal cords to create an echoing Hyper Voice, sonic shockwaves ebbing across the distance between her and Sora to shake up the little Klefki quite well. Yaaaaasss Sheba hit that high F, you go girl. Sora, hearing the beauty of Sheba’s voice, has a change of heart and realizes they were wrong to put so much distance in between them. The keyring spurs himself back towards his beautiful beloved, puckering up for a Draining Kiss. Unfortunately, because both of them literally spent the entire last round being evasive and moving away from each other, Sheba sees the clueless Sora zooming in for some sweet lovin’ and just rolls her eyes. She makes a repulsed face as his pink glowing keyhole smacks onto her arm, and, wincing out of secondhand embarrassment, sort of shakes him off before he can complete his attack. Even if he’s gained back a little HP, Sora’s real HP--his Heart Points--have been devastated. Floating dejectedly in front of a perturbed Sheba, he decides that if he can’t have her, NO ONE CAN. The Klefki glows blindingly again, causing Sheba to shield her eyes as he fires off another steely Flash Cannon...except the beam, as one would expect, is diffracted through Sheba’s purplish cubic Light Screen and dulled by the floating pink mists, not quite causing her the pain that it would at full strength.

Summary:
Even with the reduced hits, Sheba is now quite a ways under the midpoint, and she’s at the energy midpoint, though fresh. Sora took a blow that was somewhat softened by the little health he gained back, and he’s good for two, though beginning to tire.

How did Sheba go from above midpoint to near critical with a weakened Flash Cannon and Draining Kiss?

Round Six: Heartburn

...did I ever post Klefki’s SC? Oops. I’m gonna do that now. Not that it matters much considering that the only defensive move Sora used got Snatched away.

They can use them to attack physically or jangle them to create a loud sound to threaten or distract foes. Klefki levitate by default. Due to being a living keyring, they are inorganic. Still in close quarters with Sheba, Sora decides that maybe she’ll take him back if he spices up their relationship with a little Play Rough. Coating his keys in pink Fairy energy, he whacks at her again and again while somehow still retaining a flirty demeanor. The Gardevoir winces, surprised at how much the tiny keyring’s blows sting as he hurls himself repeatedly through her Light Screen. Of course, Sheba rebukes his advances once more, flinging a sputtering Will-o-Wisp flame at him, the little Klefki in tears now from both the singeing attack and the heartbreak inflicted on him. How can there be so much emotion in those two little dots he has for eyes? ”WHY WON’T YOU LOVE ME”, they scream, as he fires off another shining gray Flash Cannon, light bouncing off Sheba’s protective screen as the weakened energy washes over her. Now severely annoyed, she waves her arm to summon one more swirling Will-O-Wisp to hit Sora, and this time, after the ghostly fire fades away from his body, he grimaces as his metal ring glows red-hot. Looks like he’s got a pretty nasty burn there. Though her opponent is now more preoccupied with his stinging burn than with thoughts of love, Sheba decides that she had better fight him off for good. Closing her eyes and raising her arms, she calls forth a rotating ring of mud brown orbs around her--clearly a Hidden Power attack. She sends the assault forth, Sora getting jangled and jingled all through the air as the barrage of energy projectiles explodes all over him for a nasty super effective hit. As he regains his position floating in front of Sheba, his burn suddenly pains him intensely, sending him dropping in the air before he pulls himself back up--there’s really no breaks for this poor guy.

Summary:
Sheba brought her opponent quite a ways below the midpoint this round, but she in turn has dipped into critical health. Her Fire and Ground energy is gone, and she’s good for two while Sora is panting lightly and would appreciate a break.

Round Seven: I'm Over You

Sheba’s body crackles with yellow electrical current, bringing a look of dismay to Sora’s face as he sees her charging up a high-voltage Thunderbolt. Unfortunately for the Klefki, due to his current sluggishness and the fact that he got his orders after Sheba got hers, he’s not really able to do anything to halt the shocking bolt that she aims right at his still-burning ring. Though his eyes go all goofy as the lightning leaps through him, jolting him witless, the wattage of the attack doesn’t really hurt all that much more due to it being specially based. Once he gathers his senses together again, however, he goes for what he knows: another tried-and-true Flash Cannon. This time, even as the beam diffuses through the Light Screen, the steely energy pegs Sheba hard enough that her graceful form crumples to the ground, her eyes closing as she lets out a mournful sigh. Machamp recalls her fallen warrior with a beam of red light, her protecting purple cube rotating slowly in wait for the next combatant. Sora’s jingly, chirpy midair dance of triumph is once again interrupted by a sharp sting from his burn.

Sheba has been KOd! Next Pokemon and orders from Machamp-X, please!

Summary:
Sora is now close to critical health and the energy midpoint--but he's fresh. Light Screen will be in existence for two more rounds before it fades.

Round Eight: Kill It With Fire

(Eh. I didn’t feel that it was right to have Sheba be able to Thunderbolt and then immediately Protect the very first thing Sora did that round, even with his initiative and slight tiredness disadvantage. I just don’t really think that getting off two moves in the space of time it takes your opponent to get off one should be a thing except in really extreme situations.)

It only takes Machamp a moment to toss up her next Pokeball, a soft click accompanying the burst of energy that forms itself into Jenna the Mawile. Jenna lands comfortably on the poofy clouds, tossing her hair-slash-jaws and stretching herself out as she takes Sheba’s place inside the rotating Light Screen. Spotting the dinky, jingly Klefki floating a few feet before her, a cruel laugh comes from her throat, barely perceptible. A Flamethrower attack issues suddenly forth from her maw, the billowing stream of red and white rushing towards Sora at an alarming speed...but the keyring is no slouch at all, it seems. The panic in his eyes quickly turns to relief as a dome of white energy expands from his center, growing at a pace fast enough to match the flames. The fire burns and licks only at the glowing force field, Sora Safeguarded quite nicely inside of it.

As the dome fades away, Sora comes back into sight, clanking his keys happily. Jenna, however, growls with anger, wanting to see her opponent burn and melt. Jenna...calm down a little, would you? She takes a brief moment to ascertain that her opponent’s shield has actually faded away and that he’s not hiding behind any protective barrier. Satisfied, she begins gathering up her inner fire for another Flamethrower...but that tricky, tricky Sora! He’s already stretched the crackling tendrils of a debilitating Thunder Wave over Jenna’s short form! As the lightning leaps from Sora to her and she feels her muscles begin to spasm and lock, she panics and spits out the Fire energy accumulated in her mouth, sizzling embers flying every which way. A few of them sail into Sora, the Klefki wincing and crying out in pain as he glows white once more with heat, stopping his attack posthaste...but the damage has been done. Jenna cringes as she stands utterly still, completely paralyzed. What’s more, the protective walls of Psychic energy around her appear to be dulling slightly...this is not good. Sora pauses from his snickering for another heaping helping of burn damage. Fun!

Summary:
Jenna went untouched, while one strong attack could take Sora out at this point. Sora is good for two, while Jenna is a bit fresher than him due to having just come from a Pokeball. Her Fire energy has been essentially depleted. Light Screen is one round away from fading.

Round Nine: WHEN YOU WALK AWAY, YOU DON'T HEAR ME SAY, PLEEEEEEASE, OH BABY, DON'T GO

Species characteristics are important and I should remember them!

Mawile (Steel/Fairy): Mawile's metal jaws are very strong and exceptionally difficult to force open. Attacks involved with them are 1.2x stronger then normal. Their techniques that are based on cuteness (such as Charm, Attract, Sweet Kiss, etc) are slightly more effective. Mawile can see in the dark.
Sora, feeling his imminent demise approaching him, decides to go down swinging. He concentrates and materializes a huge, glowing, light brown key of energy in front of him. A locked-up Jenna’s eyes bug out as Sora telekinetically swings the ridiculously large Ground Keyblade up in front of him. The Klefki wears a comically angry expression as he slashes the unnecessarily-anime-styled weapon through the Light Screen and then through Jenna, the elemental earth damage reverberating through her body as the key construct disappears. She stumbles back, freed from her brief paralysis and pained by the energy but thankful that the fading protective field around her could dull it a little. A smile grows on Jenna’s face, as it appears she knows something Sora does not: she’s got a Ground-type attack of her own. The familiar orbs of a Hidden Power suddenly appear in a spinning circle around her, almost the same color as Sora’s earlier Keyblade attack. She sends the spheres flying at her hovering opponent, and as the barrage bombards Sora, it appears he can take no more--the series of small explosions sends him jingling, swirly-eyed, to a pink, cloudy resting place on the ground. Jenna’s brief look of excitement turns to disappointment as the rotating purple panes that were protecting her fade away permanently, leaving her to fend for herself.

Summary:
Jenna took a hard hit this round, but the now nonexistent Light Screen did soften it a little. She didn’t use a whole lot of energy, but her Ground is gone.

Steel yourself for Bulldoze, Taunting them after with your superior enthusiasm, moving closer. Continue moving closer as you blast Solar Beam to down Lola. In the event that you are confused, replace either with Psych Up.

Round Ten: Easy Come, Easy Go

Aposteriori returns his fallen Klefki to send Lola the Diggersby onto the field once more. Hopping up and down, she brings together her huge brown ear-paws, cracking their knuckles and giggling evilly as she realizes that she has quite an advantage over the Steel-type Jenna. Speaking of Jenna, she’s busy gulping and regretting being put on the team; although she sees the bruises and scuffs on her opponent, she definitely does not want to have to get smacked with another Ground-type attack. Unfortunately for her, that’s exactly what her trainer orders her to do, and she clenches her teeth and grits both sets of jaws as she sees Lola’s giant fists glowing brown with energy. The Diggersby grins as she wallops her ears into the clouds beneath her again and again, sending seismic waves rocketing through the puffy terrain in a Bulldoze attack. Though she looks like she’s trying to beat a pillow to death, the attack somehow succeeds, the pink fluff beneath Jenna bucking, quaking, and rolling as the earthy energy rings her steel body like a bell.

Once she feels the shaking stop, however, Jenna knows what she needs to do. A moment is all it takes for her to check that her head is clear, and she begins walking forward, a dark aura surrounding her body. As she ambles towards Lola, she spits out some seriously nasty Taunts at her, insulting her efforts, her hubris, and *gasp* her WEIGHT. Oh no she didn’t. Jenna smiles as her black aura fades away, seeing that her curse has worked its magic, a now-fuming Lola too irate to even think of doing some stupid, silly dance. Or she thinks she is, anyway, it’s the curse talking really. Assured that she’s not going to be confused, Jenna prepares for her revenge by stretching out in the sun, absorbing its rays from the clear mountaintop air. Empowered by the fortifying energies of the pink mist floating at her feet, Jenna quickly takes on a strong green glow. Lola suddenly realizes what her opponent is about to do, and with a look of terror on her face, attempts to hop out of the way...but it’s too late, as the immense Solarbeam Jenna fires slams into the band of fur around her belly, slightly off center but dealing more than enough of a hit to send her thudding, eyes all aswirl, into the clouds.

Lola has been KOd! Next Pokemon and orders from Aposteriori!

Summary:
Jenna is moving through her first half of health. She didn’t have a particularly high energy round, so she’ll be pretty good for two moves. She has a lot of Dark left and her Grass is half gone.

Round Eleven: birb

This time, Aposteriori has a little more to think about as he chooses his next fighter. Lobbing a Pokeball high into the air, his new entrant into the fray is revealed in a burst of energy: Katana, who is, surprisingly, a Skarmory rather than a carefully crafted Japanese sword. What’s with the deceptive names?! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU’RE FOOLING?! Anyhow, the giant metal bird spreads her wings, taking in the expanse of the open mountain air as she stabilizes herself, flapping, above the battlefield. Though a hint of a grimace crosses her face as the mystical energies of the mist sicken her slightly, she appears to be handling herself well with the help of the clear, beautiful sky to maneuver about in.

Skarmory (Steel/Flying): Skarmory are used to living in harsh environments so piercing or scratching attacks do less damage than normal against them. Their wings also provide slight resistance against phyiscal attacks when tucked at their side. The undersides of their wings are sharp, granting them a 1.2x boost if used to attack.
Katana makes her debut with an aerial assault, suddenly increasing the speed and intensity of her flaps, imbuing the Wind she creates with an Ominous energy. The ghostly air current buffets Jenna as Katana uses the momentum of the attack to rise up higher in the air, now quite a ways off the ground. A chill travels down the Mawile’s spine as the eerie purple of the attack mingles with the pink of the arena’s mist before fading away. She responds in kind by crackling with static, Chargeing up electrical energy within herself as she steadies her aim at the flying Skarmory. A lesser fighter might have trouble with such a high-up foe, but her aim proves to be true as the thin yellow Beam of energy she fires hits Katana dead on. As Katana squawks in pain, Jenna feels the afterglow of electricity running through her body, empowering her. Steadying herself, Katana fires a glowing gray Flash Cannon from her beak to nail Jenna in the chest; an attack we should all be familiar with by now, mist saps its power, blah blah blah, the usual. Jenna responds in kind by firing another Charge Beam, this one slightly larger and more luminescent. And more painful, too, as Katana discovers when the Electrical energy courses through her avian body. Jenna once more feels the leftover charge distributing itself through her body, making her feel all glowy and powerful. Katana takes a moment from her high position to appreciate the beauty of the pink, cloudy, mountaintop, the sun reflecting off the mystical pool. She can practically see the whole arena from here!

Summary:
Jenna is now close to the midpoint. She’s good for two but we can hear her breathing, if faintly. Katana took some strong hits but is still a ways from the midpoint, and used an average amount of energy this round, still fairly fresh. Jenna’s Electric is almost gone, but she’s got a nice Special Attack boost. Katana has plenty of Ghost left, and she’s ascended to the upper height limit of where she can comfortably aim her ranged attacks and have them hit.

Come back, girl, you'll be needed later. As high in the air as possible, Aeria, strut your stuff.

Make sure to always use your enthusiasm in comparison to her uncomfortablity to dodge stuff.

Put a Tri Attack through her, then throw some Hidden Power all over the awkward bird.
