Chansey UPN PASBL: Machamp-X vs. Aposteriori in: Fairy Feud!

It's an absolutely gorgeous day at the Clouds of Passaj arena; fluffy pink clouds float about aimlessly in the pastel blue sky as a gentle breeze ripples the glittering coral-colored pool within the hollow mountain's peak. This calm is utterly and completely shattered when pre-installed confetti cannons that nobody noticed suddenly explode, a boom echoing across the sky as glitter and and pink confetti scraps rain across the arena, announcing the unexpected arrival of our referee. As the faceless gym cleanup team sweeps away the sparkly debris, a man wearing a hot pink "I <3 FAIRIES" t-shirt and his finest rose-colored lenses floats in from above, posing daintily as he clutches his frilly pink parasol. His pink elf boots touch the springy cloud surface.

"Am I late?"

Arena: Clouds of Passaj
Spoiler: show
A large expanse of pink, solidified clouds, pierced by the tip of a mountain. Battle takes place on the clouds; the mountain is inaccessible. The arena is full of a clear pink mist, which harms the artificial material contained in Steel-types, and any Steel-type that is not part-Fairy feels uncomfortable. The mist also has the effect of making Fairy-types extremely enthusiastic, more than a regular natural arena would do. The mist cannot be blown away, and it does not reduce visibility. The cleansing effects of the arena affect Poison-types adversely, and any Poison-type that is not part-Fairy will feel extremely uncomfortable. The clouds, full of life, reject any deathly spirits entering the arena, sapping all Ghost-types, even part-Fairy ones, of their evil, making them uncomfortable, and making them take slightly more damage from Fairy attacks. Steel and Poison attacks are also partially absorbed by the clouds, causing a slight decrease in damage output. The clouds allow Earthquake, Bulldoze and Earth Power to pass through them, but refuse to allow Dig to work upon them. Terrain affecting Rock-type moves and other terrain-affecting moves somehow work here. In the centre, upon the tip of the mountain, an indestructible, circular pool of fairy energies is placed. The pool is treated like water, except for a few factors: all Pokemon may stand upon the surface of the pool by some magical force, but Fairy-type Pokemon are able to cleave through their familiar energies with great expertise, swimming through it like Water-types in a pool, though it does not come without cost, as it costs light energy to stay below the surface of the energy pool, and each Pokemon can only stay below the surface for three turns during the whole match. The pool is clear, and attacks utilizing water can be used freely. The pool poorly conducts electricity.
"That's right, everyone, today we have an incredibly exciting Fairy-typed Gym Scenario between Machamp-X, Queen of the Fairies, and Aposteriori, a cold, calculating battler who certainly isn't going to leave her any room for error. Magic! Fluffiness! Imagination! The power of positivity and love! All of these things will be on full display in this battle! In fact, they'll probably be splattered all over the battlefield. I'm just going to enjoy how pretty it looks now. Good luck to both, and don't forget to have fun! After all, that's what Fairy types are all about, tee-hee~"

"Machamp-X, SQUAD US UP. I LOVE FAIRIES SO MUCH I'M SO EXCITED OH MY GOD."

I sat down for a bit to read the arena. For clarification only fairy types can swim in the water, excluding the other 17 types? How do attacks interact with the water to break its magical surface tension?

Attacks enter as if the pool is made of water, meaning physical projectiles may be slowed, fire will sizzle out, etc. The pool is made of a solid fairy energy which only Fairies could penetrate.

Before we continue, I have a concern. The arena has too many elements that would most likely not pass if you become a gym leader if you extrapolate from the other types and ask the gym leaders directly where they were asked to removed certain features to balance it out. You want to even the play fields, not to tip them all to your favor. Before the match starts, I would like to suggest that we either do a simple arena or you pm any of the LOs this version of the arena and hash out something that could be more usable. I would want this to be a productive match, and at the end of the day have you walk out learning something about the fairy type.

Only the pool could be considered that. Could you PM it to an LO for me? I'm working right now, so I'm on a phone.

Ideally there are more elements that should be streamlined or removed entirely. Good luck.

Sheba, do it.

Maintain distance as you stick two Energy Balls in Diggersby, since the outcome of this round is obvious.

Round One: (Teeter) Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy

After a long, anticipatory pause, our battlers unclip their first Pokeballs from their belts, tossing them into the air, where they linger before bursting in a white light. Sheba the Gardevoir, Machamp’s selection, takes a deep breath of the fresh mountain air as her white skirts land daintily amid the low pink mist, her arms at her sides in a position of utter poise. Lola Bunny, would-be Fairy hunter Aposteriori’s Diggersby, plops down on the springy clouds in a cartoonishly unceremonious contrast to Sheba, sending a coquettish wink her way as she strikes a sassy pose. As these two femme fatales face off against the pastel backdrop, our first matchup looks to be an intense one!

Quote:
Gardevoir (Psychic/Fairy): Gardevoir's empathic abilities make them very in touch with them opponent. Attacks that deal with the opponents mental state are more effective. They also have a very good sense of balance and are hard to knock down. Teleporting also requires slightly less energy.

Diggersby (Normal/Ground): Diggersby's extremely powerful ears allow them to dig at a rapid pace and break through hard stone and tough ground as easily as if it were loamy soil. All of their Digging-related moves will use much less energy than the average Pokémon.
Sheba starts the fracas by closing her eyes and concentrating, a Ball of verdant Energy forming between her slender limbs. With a swoop of her similarly-colored arm, the Gardevoir sends the green sphere hurtling over the clouds and directly into Lola, who winces as the Grass energy bursts over her, its leafy nature seeming to snatch the life-force directly from her body. Sheba watches Lola intently, attempting to ensure that she stays at a distance from her lapine foe...but it looks like Lola is going to stay right where she is. In fact, she appears to be poking fun at her enemy! The Diggersby’s eyes cross and uncross, her enormous hand-ears swaying across her face as her bulky body Teeters in a looping Dance. As Lola begins glowing with a strange light, Sheba finds her vision going double, her attentive look turning to one of dazed confusion as her gaze follows the bunny around and around. Satisfied with her work, Lola cuts the act and turns back to face her now-drooling opponent, a sparkle of pure maliciousness in her eye as she smirks. Sheba puts her hands to her head, shutting her eyelids and crying out in frustration as she tries to remember the orders of her trainer...but as she returns to her dormant, dizzy state, it looks like she couldn’t quite get lucid enough to pull off another Energy Ball. Breathing a sigh of relief at the typespam forgone, Lola returns to smirking weirdly at her opponent. This time, though, her Mean Look is more than mere shade-throwing--a blue glow encapsulates Sheba, trapping her on the field for now, though in her current stupor she seems not to notice much.

Summary:
Lola took a good first blow and is mostly fresh. Sheba took no damage and is fresh, but she’s confused and her Grass is half-gone.

Round Two: Damn It DT

Lola yawns, half covering her mouth with a brown ear-paw to show her distaste for her currently ditzed out opponent. Guess brains and beauty really don’t go together...why would she want to fight against such a ~booooring~ enemy? Rolling her eyes and sarcastically blowing a goodbye kiss at the Gardevoir, Lola forms a small Baton of energy...except actually she doesn't because Diggersby doesn't learn Baton Pass nooooooo! DT IT'S SWITCH=OK WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SWITCH HEEEEEEEER. Lola puts her hands to her head and cries out in shock as her efforts are thwarted.

Little did Lola know, however, Sheba was already focusing, clearing her mind of worries, doubts, and befuddlements, entering a state of perfect calm and Zen. Her green hair glows pink as she rushes across the battlefield, leaving swirling trails in the mist as she greets Lola with a Headbutt. The Diggersby cries out in surprise as Sheba’s head slams into her, Psychic energy dissipating through her body. Lola stumbles back while Sheba stands straight and stretches, breathing a sigh of relief at her newfound mental clarity. The hint of a smile crosses her face as she Focuses again, a massive orb of Fighting energy gathering between her arms. Lola's eyes widen in fear at the display of mental acuity, the brick red sphere taking hardly any time to grow to its full diameter before Sheba sends it Blasting into her, their close distance leaving no room for error. This time, it’s Sheba striking a sassy pose as an explosion engulfs Lola, muffling her screams of agony as it ruffles Sheba’s dress. Mist quickly pours back into the temporary void created by the blast, Lola growling and turning back towards her humanoid foe, absolutely irate at her inability to act and still in intense pain from the shockwaves of Fighting energy that crashed through her body.

Summary:
Sheba took no damage, establishing a giant lead over Lola, who is now below the midpoint. Lola is fresh while Sheba is good for two. Sheba's Fighting is a bit over half empty.

Round Three: Is It Typespam Time Already

Sheba continues her specially inclined assault by forming another Energy Ball, a spinning green sphere warping once more into existence in front of her. A panicked look crosses Lola’s face as she recognizes the familiar shade of typespam, and she quickly decides that her best option is to hightail it out of there...and when I say hightail, I mean HIGH tail. She takes a short hop before slamming her feet into the springy clouds, making like a bunny and Bounceing way up into the air. Sheba’s energy orb still smacks mostly into her underside, however, bursting into a gust of pulsing green wind that causes her to grimace as she soars down through the air and directly onto Sheba, causing the Gardevoir to scream in surprise as she’s comically splayed out on the ground. Lola, honey, I don’t know what you’ve been eating, but you might wanna go back on an all-carrot diet. Or, well, maybe not; if you’re going for the whole crush-your-enemies-with-your-weight thing, more power to you.

Sheba, knowing that her best bet probably isn’t a physical rumble, decides to simply blow her opponent away. Taking on a downright Icy look of disdain, Sheba begins huffing and puffing a freezing Wind at Lola. Feeling the chilly current begin to refrigerate her body, she responds by coating her Head in an Iron case of safety, hopping off of her prone enemy before lowering her skull and braving her way through the remainder of the ice-cold stream, trying to keep her cool against the cool as it rushes over her fur. Sheba cries out again as Lola’s noggin smashes into her frail body, feeling rather like she just got hit by a speeding car--but fortunately, part of the Steel energy was siphoned off by the surrounding rosy mist. Winded from the blow, she picks herself up and dusts herself off. Or she would, if there were any dust here; she’s actually just picking tufts of pink cloud off of her dress. But what’s this? Lola is glowing pale green with envy! Perhaps the beauty of her foe has caused her to go into a rage? Really, though, it doesn’t seem to be bothering her at all; she daintily pivots on one foot, smacking Sheba with a U-turn blow, whirling around before being like “girl bye” and heading back into her Pokeball for a much-needed rest. In a flash, Sora the Klefki appears in her place, jangling his keys excitedly as he floats face to face with Sheba. Sheba stares determinedly at her new challenger, knowing that she’s on even footing with another Fairy-type up here on the mountaintop clouds.

Summary:
Sheba is good for two still but tiring, approaching the energy midpoint and a ways into her first half of health. Her Grass is gone and she used a bit of Ice. Lola used a lot of energy but will be resting in her Pokeball; good thing, considering that even with partial hits, she was close to critical, because arena-induced hyper-enthusiasm is a bitch to deal with. Her Bug and Steel are about half gone. Sora is fresh by all means.

Round Four: Aw, Shuckles

Sora gets a determined look on his face, shaking his keys around as he prepares to PURIFY SHEBA’S HEART. Or whatever they do in Kingdom Hearts, I never played that game. Levitating himself over the clouds and away from Sheba in an up-and-down path, he begins glowing bright white with light. In a Flash, a Cannon of glowing Steel energy erupts from his mouth, the beam losing a little of its shine as it cuts through the mist but still putting Sheba in quite a bit of pain as the energy splits and dances over her. Gathering herself together, she looks at the floating keyring, now quite a distance away, and scowls with a look of malice that takes the little guy off guard. Stretching her green arm in Sora’s direction, she becomes surrounded by a dark aura that quickly transfers itself onto the Klefki, who nonchalantly continues floating around in a circle. It appears as though she’s made a note to herself to Snatch away any nice boosts he might try to give himself.

And, oh, poor, unaware Sora. He concentrates hard, seeking to form a Screen of Light to aid in his protection...but when he opens his eyes, it appears that the rotating cube he sought to create around himself has expanded to cover Sheba, her mischievous smirk visible within its glassy purple walls! Now it’s the Gardevoir who’s backing away, her stolen force field following her as her dainty legs edge further away from her opponent. Satisfied with the gap between them, Sheba fires a swirling Will-O-Wisp with a sudden sweep of her arm, the tiny bluish-white flame zooming into Sora, who winces as it flares and bursts with heat. He appears pained, but thankfully no lasting burn appears to have been inflicted.

Summary:
Our battlers are now at quite a healthy range from each other, with the mountaintop between them and a ways to one side. Sheba is very close to the midpoint of health and would like a break, though she didn’t have a particularly high-energy round. She used a bit of her Fire and Dark pools. Sora took a good first hit and is good for two, though I wouldn’t suggest him sustaining his energy use as high as it was in this round. His Psychic is over half gone.
