Well it's been multiple refs throughout the last few years, but oh well.

Rush in with a Bite to trigger Sucker Punch, before lambasting him with Crunch.

Round 5: Yum

With a few heavy breaths, Slim spreads his hands out in front of him, sturring up ethereal energies before a wind suddenly picks up- carrying off the energy along with it. The Ominous Wind does its deal, pushing Kano aback as the Dusknoir solidifies- remaining ready for when the Archeops comes in. The raptor bird is happy to oblige, bearing his teeth as he runs at great speeds towards his foe. Though tired, Slim is prepared, suddenly sucker punching the Archeops' head as he gets sent a few feet back from the impact. With a smug look on his face, Kano rises again- infusing vicious dark energies into his fangs before lunging forward. Slim hurriedly changes to his ethereal state, delayed slightly by his fatigue, as Kano meets his body before running through- the energies left behind dealing their blow to the Ghost-type. Tasty.

Summary:

Kano has gotten very close to final third mark as Slim is not far off from the half point. Energy-wise, Slim desperately needs a one-mover while Kano can still manage a two.

Would've hoped the proximity would've helped take Slim by surprise.

Back away as best you can and slam him with Mid Charge Hyper Beam.

I think you're starting to take this ASB malarkey a little too seriously, Connor.

Round 6: NO SPAMMING IN MY MALL

Kano takes a step back, then another, then another. It's quite fascinating to watch, but the real interest is in his mouth, where vibrant orange-colored energies are forming. Slim sees this, but doesn't seem to care, as the Archeops suddenly cuts off his energy build-up to release what was charged in a stellar beam. The beam strikes true to the Dusknoir, who skids back a few feet with a heavy grunt. The Ghost-type then grins, forming a slab of rock in front of him out of thin air, before striking it to form several smaller stones. The rocks then hurtle forward, many of which catch Kano as he attempts to back away and avoid what he can- leaving him pretty battered by the end of the barrage.

Summary:

Both are refreshed after one-movers. Kano is feeling pretty hurt, but is a fair way off from critical, while Slim has gotten below the half mark.

Round 7

Churning the last remnants of his Psychic energy within his hands, Slim casts it forward in a rainbow-colored wave. With a bout of courage, Kano runs right towards it as his tail glows a metallic silver before spinning around to cut at the wave. Still taking a reduced hit, the Archeop powers through with his spinning momentum as the Ghost-type quickly becomes ethereal for the raptor's tail to faze through leaving behind only the damage of the energy. Now standing a few feet apart, Kano turns around and rights himself as Slim gives off a one-two power punch in the form of two ghostly fists. The energy collides with the Archeops for a nice blow who in the mean time is charging his own energy within his mouth. Slim manages to see what's coming, not going to be taken by surprise, as he quickly solidifies to his preferred solid state as the beam collides with him. As the round comes to a close, the mall glows briefly again before fading away. It seems gravity has returned to normal.

Summary:

Kano has dipped into critical health at this point and should be good for two. Slim, likewise, should be good for two and has gotten into his final third of health at this point.

I consider this something of an achievement, in honesty.

Brain him with a final Mid Charge Hyper Beam.

Round 8: Ghosts2strng

Taking the same page out of his book of techniques, Kano charges in some spectular orange energy into his mouth once again before bursting it out in a deadly beam. Slim, however, is not having any of it, fazing himself through the ground with everyone's favorite Ghost-type dodge maneuver before popping back up behind the prehistoric. Alarmed, Kano turns around to see a grinning Dusknoir with an electrified fist. Alas, he can do little as the fist swings into him for the finishing blow.

Kano is unable to battle! Next Pokemon and orders from Cibbir!

Summary:

Slim is starting to tire after technically using two moves. A fresh mon will have a noticeable advantage and he will need a break soon.

Hmm. Something just occurred to me. Can Ghost- types even use Physical attacks while in the Ethereal state? If not, Thunder Punch either should have failed, or my Hyper Beam should have landed.

Forgot to specifically mention it in the reffing, but state changes happen on their own when the move requires it. So in Slim's case, he solidified after popping up behind Kano because the move he had to use, Thunder Punch, requires it.

That means there were two state changes within a single round though, which isn't how it works. He'd either go ethereal and dodge, then not enact Thunder Punch, or remain solid and strike, but be hit by Hyper Beam.

Ah yes, I forgot the one state change per round rule.

Nope, that's idle state changes only. Dusknoir is primarily solid, would be ordered to go ethereal to dodge, then solidify to use Thunder Punch.

Carry on, Charm.

That really is excessively stupid and makes Ghost- types far better than they should be. It's one shift per round, idle or not.
