![]() Vernon's Quest Log ![]() TRAINER Name: Vernon Valant Gender: Male Age: 17 Class: Dragonslayer (Ice Major, Fairy Minor and Electric Weakness) In a world devastated by natural disasters, dragon hunting will only aid in destroying the last sliver of trust that Pokemon have toward humans. No, Vernon is not a dragonslayer in its true literal form. He believes in human dragons: humans that roam the land, rampaging everywhere they go. They take what they want without regards for fellow humans and Pokemon. Vernon believes that the injustice caused by such humans should not exist in the world. The only way to cleanse the world of injustice is to slay the dragons completely, or to heal their heart of stone. Appearance: Vernon has straight, thick, jet black hair that is often slicked back. His dark brown eyes, often appearing as black, compliments his olive skin that has been slightly darkened by the sun. When standing straight, he reaches the height of 5'5". He wears a pink sports coat with white highlights. A white undershirt is visibly exposed from his unbuttoned coat. His pants, a tan chino, is marked with loose threads and subtle scratches and grass stains. The once white canvas shoes that he wears is muddied and dirty. Although he prefers to be viewed as neat and tidy, his clothes still show hints of past experiences. He carries around a pale, ice blue backpack with pink highlights. He carries it using both shoulders, though sometimes he'll casually carry it using only one strap. Vernon's posture is straight most times; his fatigue is visible when his back slumps forward. Personality: Many people who know Vernon will speak of great things about him. However, the quality that stands out the most is his ability to get along with everyone. This personality trait may be seen as 'nice' or 'polite' for others, but really, it is just a product of Vernon's need for self-preservation. In terms of fight-or-flight, Vernon chooses neither. Instead, he likes to befriend anyone and everyone, while keeping his true intentions within himself. Another personality trait that stands out about Vernon is his slight narcissism. His vanity can sometimes slip out when comparing feats and achievements with others. However, he is aware of this...unappealing trait, and he is able to control the things he says. Most of the time. Background: Since the disasters, Vernon's family has never been the same. His father has been traveling the two regions, leading projects for rebuilding houses, while his mother has been volunteering in medical assistance for those greatly affected. His parents were keeping themselves busy, and for good reason. Ten years ago, Vernon's older brother went missing, and there is still no closure as to his condition. Although the world is slowly returning to normalcy, the Valant household is still suffering. While his parents transform their grief into honest volunteer work, Vernon aims to finally travel the world as a Pokemon trainer. He wishes to someday, although unlikely, meet his brother along his journey. But for now, he wants to focus on bettering himself and move on from the tragedy, and he views the adventures that await him as the only solution. -------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TEAM ![]() ![]() Varaha Starter Pokemon Species: Tepig Type: Fire Level: 11 Mood: 117 Ability: Blaze Gender: Male Nature: Brave (+Atk, -Spe) Item: Charcoal Bio: Varaha is Vernon's first Pokemon. They met right outside the village where Vernon used to live. At the time, Varaha was the forest guardian of the woods by the village. When disaster struck and the forest was destroyed, Varaha worked hard to tend to the needs of injured Pokemon. Soon, Vernon found his way in the woods because someone stole the berries from his berry trees that he worked hard to grow. When Vernon was attacked by the mystery thief, Varaha saved him and chased off the attacker. Vernon never forgot about his savior since then. For years Vernon would give berries to Varaha so that the Tepig may assist the Pokemon in the woods. When Vernon was about to leave for New Bark Town with his family, he decided to wander in the woods to find Varaha. Since the Pokemon in the woods no longer needed the Tepig's help, Varaha chose to join Vernon on his journey. Varaha is a brave and caring Pokemon. He is instantly regarded as a leader by peers because of his courage and determination. Because of this, Varaha is always in charge of keeping the team in check for his trainer. Moves:

The Gastly was a troubling presence in the woods, and a certain Poochyena always hounded him. As soon as Vernon first saw him, the trainer knew that the Gastly was quite the prankster. He threw rocks at Vernon using his Psychic powers, a quite unusual power for a Ghost type. As it turns out, Psi was an Abra in his past life, until he was killed by a toll collector named Mr. Beefcakes during an intense battle. Vernon felt more empathetic when he found out, and they went to confront Mr. Beefcakes soon after. When Vernon and Varaha defeated Mr. Beefcakes, the man apologized to Psi for what had happened and vowed never to bully trainers again. This gave Psi peace and allowed him to accept his new body and trainer. Psi is quite comedic and would often laugh at anything, even if nothing is funny. He can be quite reluctant when it comes to battling because of his traumatic past, but he will fight as hard as he can for his trainer and teammates. Moves:

He seems to like the idea of exploring the world alongside Vernon, becoming stronger in the process. As a Seedot, Senju was blessed with two Egg Moves, making him stronger than most Seedots. His two Egg Moves reflect his future typing, allowing him to gain experience in manipulating the Dark type before evolving. Moves:

![]() ADVENTURE LOG Journal Entry 1: New Bark Town/Cherrygrove City - Hound Retriever to Hero (Completed) Vernon starts his journey in New Bark Town with his partner Tepig. Hoping to visit Cherrygrove, the two journey toward Route 29, where they witness their first Pokemon battle. Amid the confusion caused by the battle, they slip away without being caught by the toll collector. Before they make it to Cherrygrove, they come across a Gastly, who was once an Abra in the past life. An old man in Cherrygrove reveals that the Gastly is always pestered by Mr. Jim's Poochyena, who escapes once more and heads to the forest. Heading back to Route 29, Vernon and Tepig locate Poochyena, and they defeat the Pokemon. After healing the Poochyena, Vernon and Tepig try to locate the way back to Cherrygrove, but they seem to be lost! After a series of trial and error, Vernon and Tepig finally make it back to Cherrygrove, receiving a reward from both the old man and Mr. Jim! He then heads back to Route 29, where he encounters Gastly once more. After a heated battle, Vernon captures Gastly, naming him Psi. The night passes as Vernon seeks refuge inside the Pokemon Center. As the day rises, Vernon heads over to Route 29, only to be stopped by the toll collector from before. Challenged to a battle, Vernon faces the Timburr, with Tepig as his Pokemon of choice. A tight battle decides Vernon and Tepig as victors. Psi helps in making the toll collector have a change of heart as the man promises to never take tolls in Route 29 ever again. The townspeople and Psi's old trainer reward Vernon lavishly, marking the end of his first journey. Reward: 1,700 Pokedollars, 2 Star Shards Journal Entry 2: Violet City - Trouble at the Berry Plantation (Completed) Vernon, Varaha, and Psi make it across Route 31 after a long trek. They visit the gym of Violet City, a stunning blimp stationed high above the clouds. There, he chose to take on a quest that involves a Seedot infestation in a berry plantation. When they make it to the plantation, they meet a man named Graeme who was in charge of the plantation. They tackle the Seedot problem peacefully using Psi's Hypnosis to calm one of the Seedots down. They realize that the source of their mayhem is a poisoned young Seedot, whom Graeme immediately takes to the Pokemon Center. Vernon and the team stay with the Seedots, only to be confronted by the source of the poison: a Seviper. The Seviper turns out to be a Pokemon owned by a poacher, who Vernon then defeated in battle. After the police captured the criminal, Graeme and Vernon decide to check out what is inside the poacher's truck. Much to their surprise, the truck did not only contain poached Seedots, but also a rampaging Kangaskhan without its child. The two were stumped on how to locate the Kangaskhan cub, but a shy Seedot ends up leading Vernon to the cub! A large man with a Pyroar guards the cub, who immediately puts Vernon and the team in a dangerous position. Miraculously, Vernon and his Pokémon are spared, leaving Vernon desperately wishing he were stronger! The trainer then befriends a strong and adamant Seedot named Senju, and the four of them head back to the Restoration Centre to receive their prize. Reward: 8000 Pokedollars, 3 Star Shards, 2 Sitrus Berries, 1 Lum Berry Journal Entry 3: Violet City - The Flying Gym Aces (Ongoing) Vernon, Varaha, Psi, and Senju return to the Violet City Gym in hopes of challenging the Gym Leader. However, they choose to train first, with the help of Eric and his partner, Ace! Together with Eric, Vernon is able to train Varaha and Psi, with Senju being trained by having a match with another trainer named Allie. Upon winning his match with Allie, Vernon is given the chance to finally challenge the Gym Leader... NOTABLE CHARACTERS MET
