Highway Arena:
Spoiler: show
This arena takes place on an eight-lane highway (four lanes going in each direction), with traffic going through. Pokemon may battle all over the place, be it cars, the side of the road, or in the air. The traffic flow varies, but can all be summed up in 3 modes:
-Light: There is almost no traffic to speak of. It will vary from almost no cars at all to a few at one time. It is generally safe to be on the highway, and most Pokemon will be able to avoid the cars with little trouble.
-Moderate: There are large amounts of cars going through, but not enough to cause a slowdown. However, this make standing on the highway a dangerous proposition. It is safest on the cars, but it will definitely be a running battle as the cars continue onwards.
-Heavy: cars basically fill the entire highway for as far as can be seen. Traffic flow is usually slow or non-existent, meaning that it'd be difficult to find a piece of highway that ISN'T covered.
Traffic flow varies, also, depending on the time of day. During the daylight hours, traffic is most likely to be either Moderate or Heavy. During the night, traffic is most likely to be light. Also, since many cars will be going quickly, a Pokemon that gets hit will suffer heavy damage and (if they're small enough) possibly death. Also, falling onto the pavement from a moving vehicle can also do some damage.
Special Rules: Artificial Lighting (Highway light poles), Deadly, Terrain Edge (anything on the side of a highway, be it a city, a grass field, etc. Refs, use your judgment)
Optional Rules: Fog
An ultra crowded highway? Oh, do I know this all too well... Welcome, friends, to the Garden State Parking Lotway! Right smack in the middle of Rush Hour, these super congested roads are arguably the worst place in the world for me to learn to drive! As the traffic speed around us moves at a whopping 3 miles per hour, let's introduce our battlers! On the northbound side of the highway stands Kots, everyone's favorite ice cream mogul who's no stranger to these roads. On the southbound side of the highway stands Lit, who isn't familiar with the roads here and must already be missing his beautiful California weather. (Lucky bastard...) Who will emerge victorious in this battle? Will anyone get run over? Judging by the car speed right now I can already answer the second one, but nonetheless this shall be a battle to remember! Let's get started, shall we? You guys know the drill, squad up!

Well, since this isn't a leveling match, and I know how good Lit can be, I'll actually have to think through my squad. Let's see what we've got, shall we?

----------------------------

Aeolus

[Level 3 Male Aerodactyl]
[Biography]
TBA

Aerodactyl (Rock/Flying): Aerodactyl are a terrifying sight to some Pokémon. Against any Pokémon that would reasonably be afraid of Aerodactyl, an Aerodactylfs fear-inducing attacks are more effective. Its biting attacks do slightly more damage.
[Rock]: Rock types generally have hard bodies, which makes them resistant to unskilled (non-fighting) blows. However, most are so heavy that they will sink in water, so they stay away from deep-water sources if possible. Rock types prefer heat to cold.
[Flying]: Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation.

[Hidden Power]
Rock

---------------------------

Amphitryon

[Level 4 Male Alakazam]
[Biography]
Amphitryon has an old soul. A clear leader in battle, he is adept at using his psychic abilities and the environment to his advantage. He has made a place for himself as a leader on my squad, and his versatility on the battlefield earns him a regular position on my teams.

Alakazam (Psychic): An Alakazam has one of the most acute minds amongst Pokémon, with the exception of some legendaries. Thus, any mentally effecting attack or hallucination-inducing move will be less effective (and less likely to succeed) against one.
[Psychic]: Psychics are considered to automatically be familiar with psychic abilities. Thus, they can use Psychic to move and toss Pokémon. If facing a non-bug, non-dark opponent, psychics can sense their opponent somewhat, making accuracy reducing attacks less effective.

[Hidden Power]
Bug

--------------------------

Tartarus

[Level 3 Male Haunter]
[Biography]
TBA

Haunter (Ghost/Poison): Haunter, while more solid than its preevolution and able to solidify, is composed primarily of gas, and prefers Gaseous or Ethereal over Solid. It may also go Invisible if required. Haunter's hands can move independently of it and can move with agility and decent speed. They are able to pass through solid objects even when Haunter is Solid or Gaseous, with somewhat more freedom to pass through objects than Haunter itself, allowing them to pass through thicker walls or other objects. Haunterfs Lick attack has a 50% chance to paralyze, instead of the usual 30%. Haunter is faster than Gastly and is able to levitate as high as its trainer is tall, but it is not as fast or agile as Gengar.
[Ghost]: Ghosts are resistant to attacks which induce confusion or other mental effects and are immune to telekinetic-based Psychic moves if not in the solid state (though will still take damage from Psychic moves regardless of state). They cannot be poisoned. Ghosts fight more enthusiastically at night and can see in the dark, though they are not put off by fighting in the day. Their fear inducing attacks are more effective than those used by other pokémon. Ghost-types take neutral damage from Normal, Fighting and typeless attacks in the ASB, as opposed to in the games, but some may change their state in order to evade certain moves. See Ghost Pokémon Information for details on states.
Solid: The solid state is the state that most pokémon, such as Pikachu or Marill, take. Solid pokémons' bodies can be harmed and damaged by physical blows as normal. Pokémon must be in the solid state to use physical attacks like Tackle and Fire Punch; if a pokémon cannot achieve the solid state, such as Gastly, it will use a half strength version of the move by generating an orb of energy in front of it to strike with instead of tackling, punching etc.
Ethereal: In this state, pokémon are visible, yet all attempts at physical damage pass right through. In contrast, while in this state pokémon are more vulnerable to 'special' attacks such as Flamethrower and Thunderbolt and take 50% more damage from them. Physical projectiles such as wind, rocks or water will also pass through pokémon in this state, though fire will strike them as a special move. Attacks such as Skull Bash, Zen Headbutt or Silver Wind which are physical in nature but have a 'glow' of energy will deal 50% of the damage they would usually do and do not trigger the 50% extra damage clause. Ref's discretion is advised where the situation is unclear. Pokémon in this state can pass through walls, roofs, floors, pokémon and any other obstacle in the arena, so long as they keep moving and are not in solid space for more than five seconds. This means Ghost Pokémon cannot go and hide underground in the ethereal state, though they can go under momentarily, coming back out a few seconds later for perhaps a surprise attack. Ghosts may not use Selfdestruct or Explosion whilst in the ethereal state.
Gaseous: This state is similar to the ethereal state. Like ethereal, gaseous pokémon can't be damaged by physical attacks, but the attacks passing through still produce a little effect, a 'funny feeling' that can become quite distracting if it's a large or fast 'hit'. 'Special' attacks are still more effective than physical ones and will deal about 25% extra damage. Attacks such as Skull Bash or Zen Headbutt which are physical in nature but have a 'glow' of energy will deal 75% of the damage they would usually do and do no trigger the 25% extra damage clause. Ref's discretion is advised where the situation is unclear. Gaseous ghosts are not capable of passing through walls, but can fit through even the tiniest of gaps, say, a crack or split in a wall. The time it takes to pass through this hole though will depend on it's size, obviously a while for a tiny crack or pinhole. Ghosts may not use Selfdestruct or Explosion whilst in the gaseous state.
Invisible: In this state, pokémon become invisible and cannot be seen with the naked eye. However, they will still make noise, emit odour etc and pokémon with enhanced senses may be able to detect them. Pokémon are solid whilst invisible and thus do not enjoy any of the benefits associated with the ethereal or gaseous state. Pokémon can only remain invisible for two rounds in total per battle, though they may split this time in to two rounds if they wish. Pokémon which are invisible can use attacks which involve physical contact, mind affecting moves such as Hypnosis or Confuse Ray and moves like Curse and Pain Split as normal. However, they may not used ranged attacks such as Thunder or Sludge Bomb and cannot use Explosion or Selfdestruct.
[Poison]: If not completely immune, poison types are highly resistant to poisoning.

[Hidden Power]
Fire

---------------------------

Prometheus

[Level 3 Male Abomasnow]
[Biography]
TBA

Abomasnow (Ice/Grass): Abomasnow is able to disguise itself well in blizzards and snowy areas.
[Ice]: Ice Pokémon are highly resistant to cold, and love fighting in it. However, they hate hot temperatures, and will not fight as well.
[Grass]: Grass types live anywhere that can support vegetation, though most prefer temperate to tropical climates. Grass types enjoy both bright sun and rain. Rainstorms will heal them slightly every round the rain falls.

[Hidden Power]
Water

---------------------------
Zeus

[Level 3 Male Electabuzz]
I met Zeus up in the mountains, training with a group of Beartic. For some reason, they had accepted him as one of their own. He is incredibly comfortable in colder arenas. While in the mountains, I met a hermit who told me Zeus' story.

Another trainer had been searching the mountains looking for Pokemon when an egg he was carrying began to hatch. Unable to care for the freshly hatched Elekid, and in a terrible rush, the trainer had left the baby behind the hermit's hut. Alone and forgotten, the Elekid began to climb the mountain, looking for some sort of safety from the elements. He managed to find a cave after hours of searching, and made his way inside. His rest, however, was to be short-lived. It seemed that the cave was home to a particularly ornery Haxorus that apparently dwelled deep within the mountain. The beast quickly chased the baby Elekid out into the harsh elements once more, where he tumbled down the mountainside, coming to a stop just before a second cave. Bruised and battered, the baby Elekid crawled inside and and fell to the ground, unconscious.

When he awoke, the Elekid found himself surrounded by a group of Beartic. He jumped to his feet, ready to fight, but the Beartic looked concerned rather than angry. He told them his story of the Haxorus, and they took pity on him. They decided that, since he had nobody else, they would train him. And train him they did. For 6 months they worked together, teaching the young electric type some ice type moves while shying away from moves that could prove dangerous should the baby ever turn on the larger group. After 6 months, the Elekid had learned all he could from the Beartic, but he was still not content. He told the Beartic that, in order to prove himself capable, he had to best the Haxorus. Despite their warnings, the Elekid set out once more up the mountain, returning to that fateful cave.

Before he even took a step inside, the Elekid heard a deafening howl from within the cavern. He took a moment to work up his nerve, and then scurried into the cave. Once there, he once again met his opponent. A fierce battle ensued, with Elekid fighting valiantly, combining his natural moves with those that he had been taught by the Beartic. After a long, long confrontation, the Haxorus finally went down, and the Elekid let out an echoing victory screech before hurrying down the mountainside to tell his companions his story.

Electabuzz (Electric): If an Electabuzz sees the color red, it may launch into a blind rage. While in this rage, an Electabuzzfs attack is doubled, at the expense of a halved defense. A trainer may, with a note in their bio, however, say theyfve trained Electabuzz not to respond to red. However, Electabuzz will lose the ability to go into this rage if they do so.
[Electric]: Electric types, in general, prefer areas where their electric attacks are most accurate. Thus, while hot temperatures donft bother them, the fact that heat refracts electricity doesnft appeal to them.

[Hidden Power]
Water

[Special Training: Kheimon's Blessing]
Zeus has gained an Ice Familiarity and can now use Ice Beam, Ice Shard and Powder Snow. Due to his training, he never learned any fire type moves. He also never learned Focus Punch, Cross Chop, Dynamicpunch, Rolling Kick, Brick Break or Rock Smash due to the Beartic he trained with being afraid of those moves in particular.

---------------------------

Antaeus

[Level 3 Male Gabite]
[Biography]
I stumbled upon Antaeus one day while exploring Stark Mountain. The little dragon, for some reason, was obsessed with trying to fly, and continuously hurled himself off of cliffs in an attempt to become airborne. He was, of course, completely unsuccessful, but he did manage to create some impressive damage in the ground where he landed. After capturing him, we decided to use his love for flying to his advantage, teaching him different methods with which to fall onto opponents. His favorite, we learned recently, is a straight body slam, although he also enjoys employing Iron Tail to spear his opponents.

Gabite (Dragon/Ground): Gabite's large teeth and firm jaw give it a slight boost in power to all biting attacks. Gabite can see in the dark.[Dragon]: Dragons tend to be good swimmers and fliers. However, they hate cold weather.
[Ground]: Ground Pokémon are considered to be immune to electricity while standing on the ground. If a Ground Pokémon is in the air, they take 75% the normal damage from electric attacks. If a ground type is wet, electric attacks affect it normally (unless the Pokémon is naturally wet/slimy, like Quagsire).

[Hidden Power]
Fire

[Special Training: Leaps of Faith]
Any physical attack that Antaeus uses while coming down on his opponent from above inflicts 1.25x the normal damage. Antaeus receives recoil damage proportional to the strength of the attack, and there is a 15% chance that he will be disoriented after the attack. That chance increases to 30% if the attack involves his head.

---------------------------

Yeah, I guess that'll work. Best of luck, Lit, and thanks for reffing, Apollo

Note: I'm all for not attacking each other and just destroying these stupid cars, as the drivers cause me great aggravation on a daily basis.

Well Kots, best of luck. The counter Flying Type is strong in this your squad.

Eme Lv. 3 Female Tangela
" UIAHGSIUAHS IUOHAOAUHSUIO UHAHSUHASH UAJNBUIWH OXKIAEW DFAK EME!"
(Translation: Eme can't speak English. Though it means something along the lines of "VINES ROCKS PLANTS STONES BOULDER LEAF EME!")

Hidden Power: Electric
Spoiler: show
Eme has been alive for many, many eons, and alive for far much longer than even some of the fossil Pokemon. Even so she wasn't technically alive for a few million years, research has dictated that she is one of the oldest Pokemon. I’m still sort of surprised by this, considering she has done well in the modern world. Though, I guess I should tell you why she’s so special.

One day, when out exploring with a few of my Pokemon, I stumbled on a fossil. This fossil was weird, in that the entire being was covered in amber. I could really make of what it was, but it was certainly big. How it got covered in amber is something that I really don’t know, but that’s not really the point. Upon closer inspection, I could make out vines of some sort. I was surprised by this, and that this creature could possible by an undiscovered Pokemon. Seeing the chance to find the grass type’s missing link, I excavated the fossil and brought it to the closest lab.

When we arrived to the lab, I presented my finding to them. The scientists were equally shocked as I was, and asked if they could revive the creature inside. Of course, since that was my intention, I told them to go on ahead. I watched for hours as they dug it out of the fossil, and I started to recognize what was inside, a Tangela. The ancient vine Pokemon soon started to open its eyes, and looked at us with a weird expression. It started to screech nonsense, constantly saying what sounded like “Eme.” I went in, ignoring the scientists, and asked if it was called Eme. The Tangela seemed to calm down, and thought for a bit. This creature obviously never seen humans, or most of the modern world. The Tangela then slowly nodded, a bit weary of the entire situation.

The scientists continued examining and freeing Eme from the amber, with her watching the room in fear and confusion. When she was finally out, the scientists told me she’s was one of the oldest specimens that they’ve seen, and how she managed to actually stay alive for that long was a mystery to them. Curious about it, I asked if I could take Eme to the Kalosian University of Science. The scientists agreed, and sent an escort with me so that they can keep data on her.

When we arrived at the university, everyone was in shock at Eme once we explained everything so far. The professors there called in Sycamore, the region’s star professor, to help deduct what her case was. After a few weeks, they revealed she was not only a grass type, but also a rock type. It seemed that all Tangela were originally Grass/Rock types, but they lost the typing due to evolutionary reasons. It does make some sense, considering that Tangela evolve when they level up with Ancient Power. Another thing was that unlike most grasses, Eme didn’t seem to benefit from the weather at all. It was interesting, but I told them that she needed some experience in the modern world. They agreed, and sent me off with here, but on the clause of me sending regular status updates about her well being.

Special Training: Archaic Vines (Grass/Rock)
Eme is now considered a Grass/Rock type, with all weaknesses and resistances. She has learned the moves Power Gem, Stone Edge, and Smack Down. When she evolves, Eme will learn Rock Wreckor. Eme has forgotten how to use Grassy Terrain, Giga Drain, Mega Drain, Absorb, and Leaf Storm. She also doesn't benefit from the weather.

Requia Lv. 3 Female Zweilous
"Shall I sing the tune of the damned...?"
Hidden Power: Ghost

SURSKIT Lv. 2 Male Surskit
"I AM SURSKIT. I WILL CUT YOU TO RIBBONS.”
Hidden Power: Grass
SURSKIT grew up among Arnaldo and Anorith many many eons ago, and was always envious of their claws. How he grew to his size, no one exactly knows... Though I'm guessing it's from being alive for so many eons. Also, his antenna is really really sharp, probably from trying to be like his ancient brethren.

Special Technique: D.E.A.T.H [Deadly Eco-friendly Annihilistic Tanky Hellian] (XX)
SURSKIT is the size and weight of an Armaldo. SURSKIT, having a razor sharp antenna, has learned Slash, Night Slash, Leaf Blade, Cross Poison, Psycho Cut, and Shadow Claw (All of these can be considered variants of the move Slash). He gains two uses or one HB, whatever is greater, of each off-type he gains, but they also require him to use more energy. SURSKIT is also slower than the average Surskit, and is not as agile. SURSKIT may never evolve, but will be considered to be on equal footing for whoever he’s fighting.

Natalia Lv. 4 Female Ledian
Ha! You think that can beat me?
Hidden Power: Ice
Spoiler: show
Natalia has always been a special Pokemon on my squad. While she’s often yelling and being a social butterfly, she always hasn’t been like this. Let me tell you the story of a small Ledyba. A Ledyba who fought for her own sense of herself, and her growth into who she is today.

Natalia was always a timid girl. She tended to keep towards herself, and stay close to her friends and family. She was always a tiny bit smaller than the rest of the Ledyba around her, but she got used to it. However, as she grew up everyone around her started to be captured. Either to trainers who loved them or cared for them, but also for trainers who only cared about chain trades. Managing to avoid being captured, Natalia decided to set off on a journey.

After leaving her territory, she easily realized she was a target. She was always attacked by bigger and stronger Pokemon, and couldn’t find any shelter to live in when she needed it. While reluctant at first, she realized she had to fight to survive. Fight to keep a sense of herself.

She started to put herself through training, not only physically but mentally as well. She started to try and become charismatic. She attempted to make connections throughout her journey, but she commonly failed at it at the start of her journey. However, one event changed the way she would think. And seal away most of her original self.

Natalia one day came across a Pokemon boxing match. Interested, she watched from a safe place as the match unfolded. She realized that fighting would be fun, and would help with her own self-esteem issues. She started training, punching on trees to help strengthen herself. This usually led her to get into bad situations, but she survived and lived on.

Soon she entered her own competition. This is where I met her, and was curious on why a bug type was in the competition. I noticed that despite her size and weakness, she kept on fighting until she was knocked out cold. I felt bad for her, and decided to try and communicate with her. After learning of her story so far, I decided to help train her.

After constant months of training I’ve noticed something different about her. Her flight ceiling had started to drop, and at maximum she was only able to reach 6 feet in the air. While her resistance to rock moves seemed to be building up, her weakness to flying moves have also started to rise. And the psychic type attacks that she had no problem tanking started to do more. I was worried about her so I took her to the doctors.

After an in-depth analysis of the Ledyba, I learned that her genetic make up had been altered. The cause of it, they really didn’t know. However, they said she was still in the process of mutating, and for me to watch for any other significant changes.

The two of us continued training with the rest of the squad, noticing some of my other members were going through these strange mutations as well. However, all of us just followed the doctor’s advice and kept on with our journey. Soon enough, we learned that a huge boxing tournament was going to happen, and Natalia begged to go.

When we arrived, the Ledyba instantly signed up. Her first round opponent was a Graveler, something that she should have feared. However, its rock type moves seemed... to not be doing a whole lot of damage. Everyone was dumbfounded at how she kept on shrugging off what would have been deadly attacks, and retaliating with her what should be limited fighting move pool. After emerging victorious, the judges had a good look at her. They were about to disqualify her for cheating before one of the doctors hastily rushed to the judges table. It seemed he was following us in secret to observe her, and his results said she had gone through a rare mutation known as a type change. Her strong will and fighting spirit was strong enough to change her very DNA, and turned her into a bug and fighting type. The judges, astonished by the revelation, quickly kept her in for publicity sakes. She quickly emerged victorious, and they announced her mythical change at the end of the tournament. Now, we’re still followed by a swarm of paparazzi because of her. However, her fighting type has certainly proved useful

Sig Training: The Ladybug Champion (Bug/Fighting)
Natalia is now a Bug/Fighting type due the mutations in her DNA, and has all strengths and weaknesses associated with the typing. With her endeavors, she has learned Close Combat, but has forgotten how to use Air Cutter and Roost. She is not considered to be familiar with the flying type, but still retains her flight and has a flight ceiling of six feet.

Bahamut: Lv. 4 Male Druddigon (Level-upper)
Hidden Power: Steel
Bahamut... One of the great dragons to walk this planet. He is a king among those who walk in nature, and he cares deeply for the place. However, the Fairy type has always been a problem for him. He is one of the few dragons who want to make peace with the fairies, as both of them have common goals. Though, this has only lead to countless fights over many millennia. The dragon has eventually gotten use to fairy attacks, and don’t feel has harmed by them as others do.

Special Resistance: Earthen King
Having been battling faeries for a very long time, Bahamut has become resistant to their attacks. All fairy type attacks now deal neutral damage to him, with them giving him a small awakening (or in a sense make him less tired). However, Bahamut has also lost his grass resistance, due to being one of the ancient rules of the earth.

Scrap Lv. 3 Genderless Shiny Golett
"Unleashing defensive parameters. Activating Orgia in 10 Seconds!"
Hidden Power: Electric
I found scrap abandoned in a junkyard somewhere... I really can’t recall where, but that’s not important. The Golett was in extremely bad shape, and I noticed that even with his shininess trainers were just passing him by. I learned from the junk master that Scrap was broken and falling to pieces, and that his core was really unstable. I realized the potential in this Golett, and quickly took him in. After a few months of rebuilding him, he was fit for battle. Well, he sort of was. That unstable core was a real problem... So I looked into it. Deciding that the best way to deal with it was to let it run wild, I added a new program into Scrap... So far it seems to be working perfectly. Well, besides the immediate meltdown after it ends...

Special Technique: Orgia Mode (XXX)
Tapping into his unstable core, Scrap unchains the limitations on his system. This causes him to go into Orgia Mode, which makes the usually slow automation faster and more agile. All attacks used in Orgia Mode will have a 1.20x boost in power, and will have the similar cost in energy. However, Scrap will not tire while he’s in Orgia Mode. He’s also in a more battle ready state, and is less likely to be intimidated. His speed and agility is similar to that of a slightly more potent long term agility. However, after five rounds of being in Orgia Mode, Scrap will overheat. All tiredness will hit him, and he’ll immediately go into an extremely tired and sluggish state. He has a low chance of dodging, and his attacks take a lot longer and deal .8x their usual effectiveness while he’s overheated. He’s also considered weak to fire during this overheated state, and water type moves will deal damage as if he’s x4 weak to water. This meltdown lasts three turns after Orgia Mode is over, and Scrap can only go into Orgia Mode once per match.

Natalia you're up.

Couple of clarifications:

1: Is Natalia level 3 or 4?

2: Should I assume SURSKIT is level 3, as well?

Alrighty then. As much as I want to go play with my shiny Aerodactyl toy, I know you'll just switch out. As such...

Tartarus, lock and load. Start off with a mean look, then follow up with an ominous wind. If they block the first mean look, just go for a second mean look instead of the wind.

Good man.

Supersonic. U-TUrn to Requia. If the U-Turn doesn't work, then give 'em an Ominous Wind.

Round 1: Who Let the Truck in Here?

Lit is the first to send out his Pokémon, and from his Poke Ball emerges a brightly-colored but fierce-looking Ledian named Natalia. Kots considers his options, then in response tosses out his own Poke Ball, releasing a Haunter named Tartarus, who seems rather grim instead of playful like many Haunter. Must be his namesake. How will these competitors fare in battle? Let's take a look at their Species Characteristics and see what they can do!

Quote:
Ledian (Bug/Flying): Ledian are the fastest in the Ledyba family in the air, but not as agile. Ledian can see in the dark.
Quote:
The stage is set, the trainers have given their orders, let battle commence! Both Natalia and Tartarus hover a few feet above the crawling cars, so it looks like none of them will get wrecked any time soon. Pity. Tartarus' first order of business is to make sure his opponent isn't going anywhere, so he stares her down with a Mean Look to dissuade her from fleeing. Natalia has just the opposite in mind though, and quickly lets out a Supersonic noise to break Tartarus' concentration. But apparently ghosts are resistant to that sort of thing, so all it really does is shatter my eardrums and make me want to throw that Ledian under this conveniently located 18-wheeler which isn't even supposed to be on the Parkway in the first place. A blue glow envelops Natalia as the Mean Look does its thing, so it looks like she isn't going anywhere. Tartarus is satisfied with the result, and proceeds to begin his attack. He does this with an Ominous Wind, which gives off an eerie feeling as it washes over Natalia, dealing some damage and causing a bit of discomfort. Natalia thinks over her trainer's orders before deciding that since she won't be able to escape, she'll have to stay and fight. She fires back with an Ominous Wind of her own, which hits Tartarus for much more than he dealt out. It also strikes the driver of the 18-wheeler since he's a bit more high up; serves him right for driving where he shouldn't be.

Tartarus took a super effective hit but is still looking fine on health. He used some good energy, but is fine for two.

Natalia took a hit as well but carries a slight health lead over Tartarus. She didn't use all that much energy and remains fresh. Ghost can fuel about an Ominous Wind and a half.

Psywave, concentrating as hard as you can. Let's see if we can't boggle her mind a bit. Follow up with a fire punch, slamming her into the aforementioned 18-wheeler, if it's still there, and if not, into whatever car took it's place.

Round 2: Yay for Hitting the Cars!

Natalia begins the round by showing off her beautiful voice and singing a Round. The vibrant multicolored sound waves strike Tartarus for a clean hit. At least that sound is a very refreshing change from the evil supersonic from last round. Tartarus apparently isn't a fan of the music, however, and strikes back with a Psywave. He concentrates hard and forms 6 rings of energy that float towards Natalia in an entrancing sort of way. They crash into Natalia in rapid succession, dealing a heap of damage in total and messing with her brain a bit. As she writhes from the mental pain and fogginess of thought, Tartarus continues to attack her, advancing on her from the other side of the highway. Realizing that the 18-wheeler is on his side, he decides instead to Fire Punch her into a nearby SUV. Yay destruction! Natalia is scorched by the blow and feels even worse, but that hit knocked some sense into her, so she quickly regains her flight and retaliates with another Round. More sound hits Tartarus for some more damage, but it's clear that Natalia is the one who's really hurting right now.

Natalia took two super effective attacks, and has descended well into her second third of health. She used some good energy, but is fine for two next round.

Tartarus took two hits as well but has taken the health lead now. He used some good energy as well but is still okay for two. Psychic is about 2/3 gone, Fire about half.

Headbutt through the ray, keep your head down. Ominous Wind, Psybeam. Should be three.

Round 3: Shift into Drive

Tartarus starts off this round with a Sludge Bomb, spraying a crapton of disgusting sludgey stuff at Natalia at point blank range. The ladybug is blasted by the sludge and is knocked back a few feet. Some of the sludge also rains down on a few cars below, the drivers of which being utterly confused about what it is. Looks like they'll need a car wash. Natalia waits a second, waiting for her opponent to make his next move, then, with expert timing, ducks her head and charges at Tartarus just as the ghost fires off a Confuse Ray. Natalia manages to avoid most of the bright light, leaving her mind unscathed. Tartarus sees her coming and quickly shifts out of solid state, leaving Natalia to Headbutt right through and clip a nearby minivan. Tartarus cackles at her misfortune, but not for long. Natalia angrily whips up another Ominous Wind at him, dealing even more damage in his ethereal state. Tartarus recoils from the hit, but Natalia isn't done yet. She follows up with a Psybeam, launching rainbow waves of Psychic energy that strike Tartarus for another powerful hit. My, how the tables have turned...

Tartarus got totally smacked this round, and is just about into his final third. He used some good energy and could use a breather.

Ledian took a hit as well but now holds a slight lead in health. He used a lot of energy, and could use a breather as well. Ghost is all but gone now, while Psychic is about 1/3 gone.

And now we have the ever-popular question of "Why does it make any sense for me, as a trainer, to simply allow Tartarus to get bashed by two attacks without any form of retaliation or opportunity to issue new orders?" This is the entire reason that rounds ending early exists.

The thing about ending rounds early is that there's no official ruling, as far as I know, about whether or not it's correct and how much time is too much for a round. The way I look at it, the two attacks used were fairly quick attacks requiring little charge time, so Natalia would have been able to get them off before Tartarus could react to your orders for the next round. Were one of her attacks a Hyper Beam of something, then yes, I probably would have ended the round early because Tartarus would have time to do something about it. Every ref seems to have a different concept of this, but this is how I do it.

Alright. Set up a Barrier. If you're taunted, a Round instead.

Round 4: HOW DARE YOU?!?

Having gone mostly on the offensive the last few rounds, Natalia now opts for some defensive measures and attempts to put up a protective Barrier to block some attacks. However, Tartarus is in no such mood to deal with that sort of thing. He Taunts Natalia, making some obscene joke about her figure. Natalia goes into a fit of rage at this, and completely forgets about the barrier she was making. So much for that. Instead, she focuses her efforts on attacking the mean ghostie. She looks to sing a Round, although at this point I wouldn't be surprised if she were to scream it. Tartarus thinks quickly though, and flashes her with a Confuse Ray as she lets out the notes. Due to her confusion, she tapers off a bit at the end of the attack, but still manages to get most of it out at Tartarus, who quickly shifts into solid to minimize the damage taken. He still takes a hit though, and grimaces from the angry soundwaves. Natalia doesn't really seem to know what happened though, as in her mind she seems to see Tartarus splitting into clones of himself and then coming back together. Weird.

Natalia took no damage and slightly increased her lead. She didn't use too much energy, having not finished the Barrier, so she caught a bit of a break there. Can make two, but wouldn't mind light going this round as well. Psychic is about half gone.

Tartarus took a small hit and is into his final third. He had a fairly light round energy-wise, and could scrape two again if need be, but would appreciate a break.

Defense time. Back through the car lanes, maneuvering around the cars so you don't have to change states. Get through as many lanes as you can manage without using a move, then go invisible before continuing back, trying to keep a car or truck between you and Natalia while putting distance between the two of you.

Round 5: You Can't Hit What You Can't See

This round it's Tartarus' turn to go on the defensive, as he backs into the highway. Normally this is a very harmful thing to do, even to a Pokémon who can have the cars pass right through him. Luckily though, the cars are moving at super slow Rush Hour speed, so Tartarus will have no problem not getting run over. He looks both ways like his mother taught him as he weaves his way into the traffic. Natalia uses this cease in fire to take a moment and Refresh her mind from its confusion-riddled state. Her clarity of thought returns, and she now turns her attention to finding that damn Haunter. She follows suit, delving into the lanes of traffic, but unlike Tartarus she stays flying just above the cars, in order to give herself the best view. However, she finds that he's nowhere to be found. Unbeknownst to her he's turned invisible, and is currently hiding behind a car, completely hidden from her sight. Scowling, Natalia opts not to Hyper Beam because she hasn't the foggiest idea where her opponent is.

Neither side took any damage, and both sides used little energy and appreciated the break.
