The sandstorm rages on as no one really has any idea what is going on. The Cacturne and Chimecho spend the round wandering, not really seeing any of the action happpen.

Not far from them however, the Abomasnow gives chase to the Rotom Fan who spent some time to set up a Substitute! But this time the Substitute does not live for long as it quickly goes down to an Ice Beam from the ice type Pokemon! It doesn't give up its barrage of attacks as it quickly gathers more ice energy and pelts it with a second hit of Ice Beam, this time actually hitting the real thing!

Suddenly a large Claydol resurfaces near the Abomasnow! It floats menacingly above the sand as it starts to gather a good bit of rock energy. It gathers some stones and sends them at the Abomasnow! It deals a good amount of damage as a Medicham walks right by the Claydol. The fighter seems to have a different target in mind! It summons a glowing ghost orb in front of it, and then blasts it to the north. It would appear its attack is aimed for the Rotom Fan and... it hits a Light Screen! The screen shatters with the blow, but thankfully takes a nasty hit for it. The Claydol then starts to bug the Abomasnow with a Signal Beam, doing even more super effective damage on it. At the same time the Medicham fires off yet another Shadow Ball on the appliance. This time the attack hits true and deals good damage on it.

To the south an Aerodactyl shows up and blows a bit of Ominous Wind at the Claydol, doing some good super effective damage. The sandstorm continues to hurt most of the Pokemon here, and almost all of them are in sight of each other.

Many blows were exchanged this round, who will come out on top?

Kuno-chan: Everyone is getting too darn close to each other on this stupid map. ZOOM AND ENHANCE. Much better. Actually it doesn't look that much better. Oh well.

==================================
Attacks will be due in at 5 pm tomorrow. Please do make sure you send them in asap and don't use this as an excuse to do it later and forget.

With the Sandstorm still raging for a few more turns, the Go-Goggles help quite a bit as we do get some action this round.

The Abomasnow starts things off by making things a little brighter. In this case quite literally. It uses a Flash attack, blinding everyone that is very close to it because the Sandstorm really messes up that sort of thing. The Claydol and Medicham get blinded! Which is a shame because the Claydol was attempting to Dig underground before the bright flash ruined its concentration. Although to be fair it still has many eyes left.

While the brightness and contrast were turned up to the south, the Rotom Fan was not just spinning about. It gathered a good bit of flying energy as it nails the Abomasnow with a nasty Air Slash! Ouch! The Abomasnow retaliates with yet another cold blast from an Ice Beam! The attack seems to be too much for it! It falls over, KOed.

In the meantime the Claydol seems to have Dug underground once more, as various Pokemon seem to look around for it.

Kuno-chan: Thus ends another uneventful round. We have two more full rounds of Sandstorm left.

Kuno-kun: At least someone died this round. Go blood!

Kuno-kun: We have a rather boring round...

Kuno-chan: I really didn't expect it with so few people left.

Kuno-kun: Did anything actually happen?

Kuno-chan: A Cacturne started beating up a poor Chimecho, but aside from that most everyone cant see each other.

Kuno-kun: Did anyone die at least?

Kuno-chan: No, not this time.

Kuno-kun: And how many more rounds of Sandstorm is there?

Kuno-chan: One more full round and then it will vanish at the start of the next one.

Kuno-kun: Fun..

==================================
Attacks will be due at 5PM tomorrow like normal but the reffing will be delayed one day due to a wedding I must attend.

Kuno-chan: With everyone separating once again, we zoomed out on the map!

Kuno-kun: Are people still not killing each other?

Kuno-chan: Apparently not.

Kuno-kun: Did anything actually happen?

Kuno-chan: Yup! Someone uh... used Sandstorm. It is now extended three more turns. However the energy cost for that was extensive.

Kuno-kun: So now it'll vanish at the start of three rounds from now? Great.

Kuno-chan: Hurray!

In the desert we see a Medicham and a Aerodactyl both moving towards a Claydol who is on the surface. The Claydol is dropping some health and energy to create a Quick Charge Substitute. A cute doll who looks just like the Claydol appears, only to get punched out of existence by the Medicham! It would appear it got smacked down by an Ice Punch, causing it to quickly fade away. Unlucky for the Claydol once more, the Aerodactyl finally finds its target as it flaps its wings quite quickly. Not enough to get rid of the sandstorm, but enough to launch an Ominous Wind at its foe! The ghostly gust of wind deals some good super effective damage on the psychic type. It then decides it has had enough of this and Digs underground, much to the dismay of literally everyone or everything that has ever existed.

Elsewhere, we have some other action going on. It seems the gods of violence are smiling down on us. The round started off with the Abomasnow and Chimecho in each others sights. The Chimecho looks down at itself and blasts out a Healing Pulse! It heals some of its wounds, helping to restore its HP to a non-lethal state. The Abomasnow doesn't seem to care for that, as it sounds out a loud and wide spread Round at the Chimecho, and at its Double Team copies that I didn't mention until now. The real target gets hit, dealing a bit of damage to it. Not upset that it got hurt, the Chimecho decides to Rest, and restore some much needed energy. The Abomasnow really isn't patient enough to let that happen and blasts out a Shadow Ball! The super effective hit is enough to make it rest permanently. It has been KOed. The round ends with the Cacturne appearing in the Abomasnows sights.

Kuno-kun: Hey we got some action this round!

Kuno-chan: We sure did. We also split the GM into two smaller groups. The Abomasnow and Cacturne are together, and the Claydol, Aerodactyl and Medicham group.

Kuno-kun: Who knows what will happen!

The Aerodactyl starts to flap its wings quite a bit. A summons a mighty gust as it blows much of the airborne sand with a Defog! The sandstorm gets blown away, finally revealing the arena.

Sadly, no one actually does anything. But all of the competitors can see without the hindrance of sand in their eyes or face.

Kuno-kun: Hey we can see again!

Kuno-chan: I guess a weakened sandstorm is easy to blow away. Who knew?

Kuno-kun: No one did anything though.

Kuno-chan: Give it time. They're all pretty close to each other.

With the sandstorm finally gone, we can have a normal round of Grand Melee action. And it seems like that is what we are going to get. The Cacturne starts to head north towards the Abomasnow who is currently asleep on the job. It seems to have used a Rest last round. Not the best time for that. In addition to the Cacturne, the Aerodactyl and Medicham also head north towards it. It would appear some fun stuff is about to go down. Well, it depends on your definition of fun.

Much to the surprise of everyone, a Claydol pops out of the ground! It would appear it is next to the sleeping Abomasnow, and on the other side of the Cacturne! The dark grass type tries to move into a better position to attack as the Claydol starts to amass a large bit of rock energy. It would appear Cacturne is not fast enough to save its friend. The Claydol unleashes a Stone Edge! Rock energy gets pelted into the sleeping Pokemon, putting it out of its misery. It falls over, KOed.

Not long after this, the Cacturne has no issues with anything being in the way and uses its long overdue attack. Well, not that long overdue. But long enough. The Claydol eats an Energy Ball and finds it's not too delicious. The attack deals a good bit of super effective damage as the Aerodactyl finally shows up to the party. It fires off a Superstationsonic attack at the Claydol. The attack succeeds in messing with it, as it appears to be doing nothing of interest. The Medicham decides to show up eventually. It takes its turn sending off its own grass attack. It gathers a bit of glowing green energy in front of it in the form of yet another Energy Ball! The attack hits directly, causing the Claydol to fall over, KOed.

With two Pokemon down in one round, clearly that is enough action. Right? Well maybe in your normal wimpy-ass Grand Melee. Medicham is only getting started. It gathers a bit of bug energy and blasts the Cacturne with a Signal Beam! And then... does it again! It lets loose a second Signal Beam, reminding everyone that four times weaknesses are not fun for anyone. This does not KO Cacturne, but lets just say you can't return it to a store in that condition.

Kuno-kun: Now that's what I want to see!

Kuno-chan: We somehow made it to three Pokemon left.

Kuno-kun: This is intense.

Kuno-chan: Also since it is round thirty, all Pokemon are given three-movers once more.

Kuno-kun: In that case, someone is going to die.

Kuno-chan: Tune in next time to find out who!

With three Pokemon remaining, there is a lot of tension in the air. Tension and sand. Well to be honest, there is a lot less sand in the air then there was a few rounds ago. But still, on one side we see a Medicham with an Aerodactyl not far from it overhead. A bit northeast we spot a Cacturne that previous received quite the beating. All alliances are probably off as it comes down to the wire.

Cacturne manages to start things off as it gathers a glowing bit of grass energy in front of it. The Medicham looks a bit pooped after its last round endeavors. It regains its composure as it gets blasted with a bomb in the form of an Energy Ball! The explosion deals a good bit of grass type damage to it! Overhead the Aerodactyl was not just idly watching as it has been gathering wind energy and flapping its wings quite a bit! It would appear it is using a Twister attack! Aerodactyl shouts out left arm red as Medicham takes a good bit of super effective damage, dropping its health quite a bit from the team up combo.

It would seem that Medicham has managed to start gathering some energy for its attack. Hopefully in time before it gets hit again as the Cacturne starts to charge towards it! There is a bit of distance between them and the Medicham fires off a fighting attack that was hidden from everyone. A Hidden Power. Ok that joke didn't make much sense. Leave me alone, I'm losing my sanity by now. The fighting typed attack smacks the Cacturne for even more super effective abuse. Already close to its limit, it falls over, KOed.

With two Pokemon remaining things start to get real. As opposed to the rest of the GM where it was just for pretend. Right now we have all the hopes and dreams of the twenty competitors placed upon these two. Right now we are down to more of a normal battle as only two remaing. And while the Aerodactyl wasted no time in attacking its friend, who knows how this will play out from here. Since we still have some attacks in, lets find out!

Medicham and Aerodactyl look at each other intently. While they were friends until now, only one of them can remain. The Aerodactyl seems to watch for Medicham as it give it a strange look. Why the look? Because Medicham is glowing quite a bit and the Aerodactyl wants to wait and see what happens before reacting. However it soon gets a very close view to Medicham. Much like when you accidentally mess with your seat, the Aerodactyl dropped back down to earth. Icarus flew too close to the sun and got punished for his hubris. Actually, Medicham just used a Gravity! Aerodactyl is now severely uncomfortable as it tries its best to stand upright. This is not a pretty picture. It attempts to use a Twister yet again on the fighting type but.. it just gets interrupted with an Ice Punch to the face. Ouch. While movement might be a bit difficult, it certainly has use of its mouth just fine. It unleashes a Supersonic attack, causing the Medicham to become a bit dazed and confused. Mostly confused, though.

With two Pokemon left, there isn't much fluff left to say. It is down to the wire. And the wire is placed on the ground as flying is out of the picture for four more rounds. Will the match even go on that long? With what is most likely massive type spam imminent, chances are it will not.

The Aerodactyl currently has the much better position. It is not confused and finally positioned correctly in a way that makes standing not horribly awkward for it. With the Medicham fairly confused, the Aerodactly has time to start flapping away once more. Much to its unfortunate luck, the Medicham starts to glow as well. Its head seems to be glowing with a bit of psychic energy. It appears to be curing its mind with a Zen Headbutt, as all external influences have been ejected from it. Medicham rushes into Aerodactyl but instead eats a full blast of Twister, slowing down the attack! The Zen Headbutt gets turned into a Zen Head-bop as the momentum of the attack was reduced by the super effective winds produced by Twister. Although the energy still did the normal share of psychic damage.

With the first bit of blows exchanged, the Medicham starts to stop down onto the ground as it summons up a medium sized rock using Rock Slide! It starts to blast it towards the Aerodactyl but.. it would appear Aerodactyl wasted absolutely no time with a Razor Wind! The ancient rock Pokemon is much less exhausted from the last few rounds and manages to strike first. The winds are simply too much for the fighting type. It plops over to the ground, KOed.

Kuno-kun: And just like that, the second Grand Melee is over. Anyway, let's get on with the results.

The prizes will be as follows:

The top four placing trainers: Charminions, Dream Breaker, deh74 and Firewater will all be automatically seeded into the next Kuno run GM (allowing them to avoid the randomization process). Charminions will also receive 10 TP, Dream Breaker will receive 8 TP, deh74 will receive 6 TP and Firewater will receive 4 TP.

Also, top 4 winners will receive a discount on their next Mega Token purchase. 1st and 2nd place can buy one for 5 SP and 3rd and 4th can purchase one for 10 SP. This applies for one purchase only.

And of course, the big prize. Charminions will be able to choose one of the two specially sigged Pokemon below. The second place winner, Dream Breaker, will receive the other Pokemon. The prizes are:

Milotic:
This Milotic is a prize for ranking first or second in the Spring 2014 Grand Melee. It does not count toward squad limits.
Special Training: Fairy Lover (Fairy)
Milotic has always been fascinated with pixies. When it learned about the new type, Fairy, it wanted to become a fairy more than anything. However it was impossible to become a fairy, and so it decided to try to get as close as possible. After years of research and training, it is now considered to be familiar with the Fairy type. In addition, it now knows the moves Dazzling Gleam, Moonblast, Draining Kiss, Play Rough, Baby-Doll Eyes, Sweet Kiss, and Moonlight.

Cacturne
This Cacturne is a prize for ranking first or second in the Spring 2014 Grand Melee. It does not count toward squad limits.
Special Training: Nuked Sun (Fire)
Cacturne likes to tell people that it was tested on for years. In reality, it probably swallowed something it wasn't supposed to. Whatever the case may be, it now permanently has an odd glow. This causes it to be permanently under the effects of Sunny Day. Any attack or move that requires the sun of the sun is bestowed upon Cacturne, even in other weather conditions, indoors or at night. As a side effect, the odd green glow will easily give away its position in darkness or while hiding, although the look can be considered menacing.

In addition to the TP gained above, dealing the most damage to a Pokemon will score you a KO. Below are a list of the KOs earned and rewards for them:

4 KO/8 TP for Charminions (Medicham, Claydol, Scolipede, Scolipede)
3 KO/6 TP for Dream Breaker (Cacturne, Munchlax, Galvantula)
2 KO/4 TP for kingothestone (Tyranitar, Rotom Fan)
1 KO/2 TP for Firewater (Abomasnow)
1 KO/2 TP for deh74 (Chimecho)
1 KO/2 TP for Mozz (Ariados)
1 KO/2 TP for EmeraldGoblin (Zubat)
1 KO/2 TP for Machamp-X (Galvantula)
1 KO/2 TP for zerozoner (Joltik)
1 KO/2 TP for Rangeetsuper (Politoed)
1 KO/2 TP for kusari (Gyarados)
1 KO/2 TP for DaveTheFishGuy (Drapion)
1 KO/2 TP for Sneezey12 (Lombre)

Thanks again everyone for participating and putting up with some of the slower moments. I hope you all enjoyed the Grand Melee this time around. I tried my best to make it as fun for everyone, even the people watching at home.

Sweet! Well done Deebs, and all of the hippies. Thanks Kuno, for all of your hard work on running this. It was a ton of fun yet again and I look forward to the next one!

Since Deebs can make use of the Milotic in his Water Gym and I only have one Grass-type at the moment, I'll take the Cacturne. Also claiming 18 TP and 4 KO.

Thank you so much for doing this Kuno and putting up with all of our idiocy. This was so fun and I look forward eagerly to the next rendition.

EDIT: Congratulations to Charm for winning and picking the better prize...

I would also like to thank my fellow hippies for their wonderful teamwork and lack of betrayal. You guys are the best allies, better than Germany and France.
