UPN PASBL: Quilavaflare Vs. kingothestone

Train Arena (Outdoor Custom Arena): This arena takes place on top of the cars of a moving train. The trainers watch the battle and order their Pokémon from the tops of the cars at the ends of the train. Attacking a trainer directly or indirectly is cause for disqualification. If the battle gets too fierce, Pokémon could easily fall off the edge of the train car, and potentially fall underneath the train to their demise. If they are lucky they will escape with mere broken bones. (For trainers who would prefer a non-deadly arena, railings could be placed around the top of the cars to prevent falling off, or the train can simply not be moving.)*If both Pokémon fall off and survive, the battle continues on the ground, in whatever arena the train was passing at that moment. Powerful attacks, Earthquake for example, could derail the car, posing a life-threatening situation for both Pokémon. The rail cars are not the most structurally sound things in the world. Large Pokémon (Snorlax, Onix, etc.) could easily break through the roof of the cars by weight alone. Attacks could also break the roofs in, spilling the battle into the inside of the cars. The different cars could be passenger car, coal car, dining car, or the engine. The caboose is the only car that is reinforced and has safety features to prevent the trainers from getting killed.
Special Rules: Terrain Edge (Deadly), Easily Destroyed and Derailment
Optional special rules: Bridge, Tunnel, Overhanging obstacles
Other optional special rules may be used if they do not conflict with the required special rules and are not ridiculous in this situation.

I am confident both of you know the order. Let us begin~

Special Training: Body Guard (Fighting)
When Benji's trainer is effected in anyway by an opponent's attack, like attacks that change the weather, effect the entire field, or otherwise touch the trainer, his attack power will gain a fair damage advantage for the rest of the battle, at the price of an extra fair decrease in energy for every move used.

Zeus

[Level 2 Male Electabuzz]
I met Zeus up in the mountains, training with a group of Beartic. For some reason, they had accepted him as one of their own. He is incredibly comfortable in colder arenas. While in the mountains, I met a hermit who told me Zeus' story.

Another trainer had been searching the mountains looking for Pokemon when an egg he was carrying began to hatch. Unable to care for the freshly hatched Elekid, and in a terrible rush, the trainer had left the baby behind the hermit's hut. Alone and forgotten, the Elekid began to climb the mountain, looking for some sort of safety from the elements. He managed to find a cave after hours of searching, and made his way inside. His rest, however, was to be short-lived. It seemed that the cave was home to a particularly ornery Haxorus that apparently dwelled deep within the mountain. The beast quickly chased the baby Elekid out into the harsh elements once more, where he tumbled down the mountainside, coming to a stop just before a second cave. Bruised and battered, the baby Elekid crawled inside and and fell to the ground, unconscious.

When he awoke, the Elekid found himself surrounded by a group of Beartic. He jumped to his feet, ready to fight, but the Beartic looked concerned rather than angry. He told them his story of the Haxorus, and they took pity on him. They decided that, since he had nobody else, they would train him. And train him they did. For 6 months they worked together, teaching the young electric type some ice type moves while shying away from moves that could prove dangerous should the baby ever turn on the larger group. After 6 months, the Elekid had learned all he could from the Beartic, but he was still not content. He told the Beartic that, in order to prove himself capable, he had to best the Haxorus. Despite their warnings, the Elekid set out once more up the mountain, returning to that fateful cave.

Before he even took a step inside, the Elekid heard a deafening howl from within the cavern. He took a moment to work up his nerve, and then scurried into the cave. Once there, he once again met his opponent. A fierce battle ensued, with Elekid fighting valiantly, combining his natural moves with those that he had been taught by the Beartic. After a long, long confrontation, the Haxorus finally went down, and the Elekid let out an echoing victory screech before hurrying down the mountainside to tell his companions his story.

[Hidden Power]
Water

[Special Training: Kheimon's Blessing]
Zeus has gained an Ice Familiarity and can now use Ice Beam, Ice Shard and Powder Snow. Due to his training, he never learned any fire type moves. He also never learned Focus Punch, Cross Chop, Dynamicpunch, Rolling Kick, Brick Break or Rock Smash due to the Beartic he trained with being afraid of those moves in particular.

---------------------------

Dionysus

[Level 2 Male Grovyle]
[Biography]
Dionysus was one of the first Pokemon I encountered on my journey, starting off as a scrawny Treecko. He was, to be quite honest, not very adept on the field of battle. This fact depressed him, and he resorted to alcoholic beverages as a way to deaden his sadness. I worked diligently with him, but not before the Alcohol influenced his mind. Upon evolving into Grovyle, Dionysus' will to fight was restored and, while he still greatly enjoys his cocktails, no longer heavily relies on booze to help him survive.

[Hidden Power]
Fire

[Signature Move: Alcohol Poisoning (Poison)]
Utilizing Poison energy, Dionysus vomits an incredibly foul-smelling concoction onto his opponent - a mixture of alcohol, Toxic Poison, and just plain gross bile. This mixture is effectively a powered up Toxic, starting the damage at a mild amount. The attack requires 1.5x the energy of a normal toxic, and can only be used once per match. Dionysus can no longer use Agility, Rest or Toxic, and is also more susceptible to all sleep or confusion inducing attacks.

[Attached Item]
Harvester Token
Quote:
Harvester's Token (10 SP): The Harvester's Token denotes one's prowess in caring for and farming the bounties of nature. It can be attached to Grass type pokémon only and greatly enhances their natural abilities. Rain will heal them by a mild amount each round, sunlight will regenerate them mild energy each round, healing moves cost half their usual energy cost and draining moves are much more efficient. This token may be purchased during the week long Thanksgiving event and may be purchased up to one time per trainer.
---------------------------

Hephaestus

[Level 2 Male Charmeleon]
[Biography]
TBA

[Hidden Power]
Grass

---------------------------

Zeus, as we have so many times before, Lock and load.

...kingothestone, you are aware that bringing three uplevels can make any of them have a high chance of disobedience?

Or am I missing something?

Are they all even uplevels?

Round 1: Let Us Get This Done Fast

Fortunately, the trainers seem to be in safe position, so the battle should be... relatively safe to commence. On one side, kingothestone chooses Zeus the Electabuzz, his powerful uplevel as his Pokemon of choice. In an attempt to counter this, Quilavaflare chooses Phebe the Quilava.

Quote:
Electabuzz (Electric): If an Electabuzz sees the color red, it may launch into a blind rage. While in this rage, an Electabuzz’s attack is doubled, at the expense of a halved defense. A trainer may, with a note in their bio, however, say they’ve trained Electabuzz not to respond to red. However, Electabuzz will lose the ability to go into this rage if they do so.
[Electric]: Electric types, in general, prefer areas where their electric attacks are most accurate. Thus, while hot temperatures don’t bother them, the fact that heat refracts electricity doesn’t appeal to them.

Vulpix (Fire): As foxes, Vulpix and Ninetales are more inclined to combat by deception. They can go twice as far while invisible using Faint Attack, Confuse Ray is more effective, and their Double Team produces one additional copy. Vulpix and Ninetales have sensitive hearing, at the expense of greater vulnerability to sound attacks.
[Fire]: Fire types love hot temperatures. Most can survive in hot liquids/molten lava for an extended period of time (indefinitely in the case of Magby, Magmar, Slugma and Magcargo). If a fire Pokémon has a flame somewhere on its body, it will take extra damage if a water attack hits the flame. Otherwise, fire Pokémon are not adversely affected by taking dips in bodies of water, so long as the time is short (except for the above 4 Pokémon, who will take damage the longer they are in the water). Instead of being automatically 2x weak to Water, they take 150% of the damage if hit on their bodies, but take 210+% if hit on open flames.
Zeus stands with a confident, aggressive posture... even before he notices his opponent's actual colour. The Vulpix's reddish hue seems to set off some kind of bomb in the Electabuzz's mind, causing him to suddenly fly into a rage, becoming extremely restless. The Vulpix has no idea why this is happening, and seems to shy away, but in actuality, anyone experienced with a Vulpix knows that under the cute surface, it hides a terrible tendency to cause trouble. Already plotting to do some nasty things, the Vulpix opens her mouth and attempts to release a wall of not very hot, but widespread fire. A small wisp of fire erupts from her mouth... before a loud, angry Screech from Zeus shuts her down, her ears still ringing after Zeus stops shouting due to her vulnerability to sound-based moves.

Phebe cringes, pretending to be be scared and miserable, backing off slightly, but it is clear that Zeus is not affected, not only because the Vulpix's act is not very good, but also because anger has clouded Zeus' mind, his compassion seemingly being sealed away temporarily. Quickly realizing that this is no good, Phebe tries to exploit the fact that electricity is refracted by heat, opening her mouth and charging up a small, typeless wisp of energy. Zeus instinctively attempts to stop her from fully executing the move, going for a powerful one of his own. Charging a huge amount of electricity around his body, especially between his horns. Causing Thunder to rumble, he proceeds to unleash a vicious, incredibly powerful bolt of electricity. Phebe manages to look up towards the sky and successfully release a thin beam, before literally receiving the shock of her life. The powerful attack, backed by Zeus' anger takes its toll on Phebe before the heat really picks up, her scream of pain reverberating throughout the area. However, soon, the clouds above part somehow. A Sunny Day can probably be expected now.

Phebe is already almost through her first third of health. However, her energy usage was not very taxing at all, and she is still fresh.

Zeus' energy usage was ridiculous, but he can probably go without a breather next turn as well. His anger is still intense.

abuse her hearing with dual rounds. If you get tormented, loose a shock wave instead.

Oh yeah. Totally forgot about the red thing.

Phebe, after he uses both Rounds, Disable the attack. Then use Pain Split to even things out.

Round 2: Order Multiple Times A Day, And I Will Ref Multiple Times A Day

Phebe's body seems to quiver a little, the electricity still seeming to flow through her body, although she quickly recovers... as much as a Pokemon having been struck down by a super powered shock can. Zeus' eyes seem to actually be red out of sheer anger. As if he is an angry Greek god of the sky, he spreads his voice as if he is their king. His throat easily able to take the tug at his vocal cords, he takes a deep breath, and releases a Round of beautiful, multicoloured shockwaves of sound, although the sound is just as dreadful and menacing. It is not wise to anger the sky god, because, apparently, his screams are twice as loud then, as in this match. Phebe crouches and hides her head between her paws, her sensitivity to sound turning out to be her downfall. Strangely, Phebe is not trying to retaliate. Perhaps she is too scared. Zeus takes this opportunity to shout at the top of his lungs one more time, releasing yet another Round of shimmering, glowing shockwaves from his mouth. While this poses a new kind of hazard to the train - noise pollution, Phebe's eyes grow wide, as she lets out her own shout... of pain.

Phebe suddenly gets up, all expression of fear from her face seemingly having vanished. The Vulpix does not seem to be scared at all now. On the contrary, she is looking quite smug. Maybe she is up to her tricks again. Suddenly closing her eyes, she concentrates her energy to seal her opponent's movements. Zeus promptly starts to feel as if he is worse than paralyzed. Rendered immobile, he can only wait helplessly as he is Disabled... which pretty much achieves nothing. Phebe attempts to intensify her concentration even more, to the point of using another move that requires a large amount of it. As Zeus is suddenly able to move once again, he starts feeling as if some health is leaving his body at a slow... very slow pace pace. As it turns out, Phebe is trying to Spit their Pain and equalize their health, although the process is going very slowly...

Zeus is pretty much unscathed in terms of health, aside from the negligible amount of health that has been taken away from him this round. Energy is a different story, however, the Electabuzz having burnt right through his first third. He apparently needs a breather.

Phebe is almost into her last third of health now. She is not going to hold on much longer. Energy usage was great as well, but she is doing much better than Zeus on that front.

The standard. 6 / 9 Hyper Beams worth of health and energy respectively.

Evolutionary stage advantage and uplevel advantage, combined with double offensive power caused due to Electabuzz seeing red will deal extremely high damage.

If you are wondering about energy, double damage comes with a doubled energy cost.

And I do not see any note stating that Zeus does not react to red in his biography.

Round 3: > Defenses are halved. > Opponent is not attacking.

Phebe seems to be in deep concentration, focusing on transferring the damage that she has taken to her opponent. However, she does not really get a chance to complete the move, as she hears her trainer's order. Dropping that for the moment, the Vulpix attempts to separate herself from her opponent, shifting her concentration to filling her small mouth with some Fire and spewing it out. The flames Spin around to create a tall ring of fire between the two Pokemon, which starts to burn through the train car which it is formed upon. Being blocked out and unable to reach his opponent, Zeus jumps in anger, unable to wait for the fire to dissipate. Instead, he tries a ranged attack, charging up a somewhat lower amount of electricity than last time to fuel the attack, his horn starting to heat up dangerously and crackle with Thunder. Meanwhile, the flames finally begin to dissipate, and Zeus shoots off a series of Bolts at Phebe, accurately striking the Vulpix for another round of immense damage, pushing the Vulpix back.

Phebe has barely transferred any damage through Pain Split, including last round. She adored the breather, but that is not what she has to worry about now. She has been pushed deep into her last third, and is not going to survive another such hit, from the looks of it.

Zeus' anger is not even thinking of going away. He can go all out next round, the breather having pumped him up.

Round 4: A Golden Opportunity Lost

Phebe's body still trembles, from both apprehensiveness and literal shock, the electricity, and the pain that is caused still being fresh in her mind, unsurprisingly. Zeus is not having any mercy on her, either, not leaving any breathing room for her. Zeus scowls menacingly, before one again charging as much of electricity as he can around his body, all of it starting to crackle with Thunder. Intense Bolts are formed between Zeus' horns, which are promptly shot at Phebe. The Vulpix, in a last ditched attempt, tries to be evasive by moving around on what little space she has on the train as fast as possible, managing to create a Team of two body Doubles to stand on either side of her. The strategy, however, does not work. The attack is powerful and huge enough to strike two of the Vulpix at once, managing to score a devastating hit on Phebe. The Vulpix easily goes down, enough health to stand not left in her anymore.

Phebe is unable to battle! Next Pokemon and orders from Quilavaflare!

Zeus is still doing great for health, and while energy usage has been immense over the last rounds, he does not need a breather, especially since he got one this round.

If it weren't for those darn ice type moves in the way...

Branson, let's do this! Encore that beautiful singing, and if it succeeds then go for a Psych Up. If not, back up slowly and set up a Light Screen.

Also: Don't know why I waited until now to ask, but does the train's momentum effect attacks or Pokemon movement in any way?

Round 5: I Have No Idea What Is Happening

Phebe seems quite disappointed with her performance, but her trainer not talking about it comes off as both relieving and slightly worrying for her. Returning the Vulpix to her Pokeball, Quilavaflare throws another Pokeball into the air, sending out his own uplevel to counter the opponent's, Branson the Kadabra.

Quote:
Kadabra (Psychic): Kadabra emits special alpha waves as a byproduct of its psychic abilities. These waves induce headaches and will disrupt the concentration of Pokémon within 5 feet of Kadabra.
[Psychic]: Psychics are considered to automatically be familiar with psychic abilities. Thus, they can use Psychic to move and toss Pokémon. If facing a non-bug, non-dark opponent, psychics can sense their opponent somewhat, making accuracy reducing attacks less effective.
Zeus' anger seems to fade, his eyes not seeming quite as bloodshot for some reason. His glare is no longer anywhere as sharp, and he starts breathing heavily, not out of exhaustion, but due to finally calming down enough to regulate his breathing. He quickly regains his bearings, and is greeted by... applause. Branson is most definitely betraying his ally and applauding for his opponent. It is definitely not a trap at all. Zeus somehow falls for it... maybe, and decides to not delay the Encore anymore. Giving his opponent what he apparently wants, Zeus' body starts crackling with Thunder, as a large amount of electricity, although much less than before, surrounds him. Concentrating the electricity between his horns, he enthusiastically shoots out several Bolts towards Branson. In response to the compliment, the Kadabra receives a shock.

This is obviously not what Branson wants, but Zeus does not really know this, apparently. Having suffered a great hit to his morale, Branson decides to copy his opponent's confidence and enthusiasm, as he closes his eyes in order to concentrate hard. The Kadabra Psychs Up, feeling Zeus' emotions enter his own mind... as he suddenly feels an urge to repeat this move over and over again, as if he has received some applause from Zeus about using this move, too. Zeus, meanwhile, is lost in his own gleeful tune, as he repeats the move, making his body crackle with some more Thunder, as he sends forth even more flashy Bolts of electricity to show his appreciation to his fan. Branson, however, suddenly gets over his obsessive thoughts to repeat the move, the attack knocking some sense into him.

Only Branson took damage, and a lot of it, too. He is still fresh, while Zeus is quite a way into his last third of energy, but does not need a breather.

should the encore continue, go for that last thunderbolt. If it ends, go for an ice beam instead. Either way, follow up with an(other) ice beam. You'll get your rest soon, friend.

Wait.... Oh wow I'm stupid.

Reflect the first Ice Beam you catch, then use a Psychic to slam him through the roof of the car where we weakened it already.

Round 6: When You Do Not Even Have A Hammer...

Zeus still seems to be in some kind of trance, an oddly cheerful expression on his face. Even though he is tiring so much, he seems to be feeling very cheerful, pleased with himself. With a smile on his face, he charges electrical energy into his horns, his body crackling with Thunder in the process, as well. The sparks are concentrated at the tips of his horns, and then fired towards Branson in the form of a swarm of Bolts. The shock from the attack is a large and terrible tasting dose of pain for the Kadabra to swallow. Suddenly, Zeus' smile fades, and the sheer happiness leaves his mind. His expression curls into a surprised look, further transforming into a grim one afterwards. He realizes that he has been tricked into doing something or the other, and although it has clearly not has had bad results for him, he is not too happy about it. Showing off that he is capable of some other things as well, the Electabuzz opens his mouth, a pale blue, pulsating sphere of Ice Type energy forming in front of it. Several thin and erratic, lightning-like Beams erupt from this sphere, quickly accelerating towards Branson.

This time, Branson seems to have another trick up his non-existent sleeve, and he seems to be hoping that it actually works. He closes his eyes, concentrating extremely hard to will the attack to stop. His mind uses up Psychic Type energy to create a shield in front of him, between the attack and Branson, appearing almost ethereal at first glance. However, Zeus soon learns otherwise, as the shield absorbs the damage from the attack immediately before fading, managing to actually Reflect back part of the attack. Zeus learns first hand how it is like to be on the receiving end of that attack, and it does not seem pleasant from his reaction. It is now Branson's turn to have his revenge, as the Kadabra suddenly concentrates even harder, while Zeus is surrounded by an aura of Psychic Type energy. Zeus' body starts moving against his will, as he is raised above off his feet, then sent plummeting at breakneck speed. He smashes into the train roof, still a little charred from the previous attack, but still not weakened enough for Zeus to be sent in. It seems to have been greatly battered, however, and shall probably break if some more pressure is applied.

Zeus has taken quite a beating, but that is not the main issue in this case. He is into critical energy range, and will not last much longer at all.

Branson seems to have taken quite some damage as well, almost out of his first third of health. His energy usage was taxing, but a breather is not needed yet.
