Round Eight: Monkey Thing~!

After the.. happenings of last round, Pakku is returned to his Pokéball. However, his trainer is unperturbed, not yet ready to give up. He knows what needs to be done to get this back, and who he needs to call upon. Thrusting a red and white Pokéball into the air, he calls forth Gyatso. As the burst of light from the Pokéball appears and dissipates, the Pokémon behind the nickname is revealed. A familiar face in ASB, this Pokémon is sporting some rather cool electric line things, and a sort of monkey-like body structure. Oh, and he's yellow. That's right, it's an Electivire.

Spoiler: show

As Electivire takes the stage, the energy granting Pakku strength not too long ago returns, now empwering Gyatso in a similar manner. The energy glows around him, even furthering his ability to end this. Gyatso looks at his rather battered opponent, seeing a fierce, but vulnerable foe. He grins slightly, then is quick to begin his attack. Letting out a battle cry, he charges a familiar fighting energy into one of his hands. He sort of takes a martial arts pose, shifting his legs around and preparing to make a direct attack. Parvati is left somewhat helpless, however he does try for one last-minute technique. Mustering up all his will, Parvati begins brewing some dreadful poisonous concoction in his mouth. However, it would appear this attempt is not nearly enough. Gyatso takes advantage of his freshness to charge in at Parvati. He quickly closes any distance between the two, then swings his hand in a chopping motion. The attack flies into Parvati, hitting him horrifyingly. The steel beast lets out a cry of sheer pain, falling backward. As he hits the ground, the entire arena shakes just a bit. The monster clearly can't manage to move a muscle at this point. Gyatso sees his fallen enemy, and steps one leg up on him. He then begins pounding at his chest, letting out another war cry, clearly feeling triumphant.

Parvati is unable to battle. Next Pokémon and orders from Sneezey, please

Gyatso's fresh in energy aspect, and Fighting Energy's fine.

These broken sprinklers are to your advantage!

Discharge immediately. If he is paralyzed, Use Strength from behind to lift him over your head, ensuring his legs are out of the reach of your face. Toss him into the water afterwards. If he is not paralyzed, protect against Low Kick. Not Three.

Electromagnetic Radiation should of kicked in last round btw.

Round Nine: AHHHH MUSCLES

Sneezey holds out a Pokeball, calling back his fallen comrade. Parvati had a long fight, but now his time is over. Without any hesitation, Sneezey tosses out a new Pokeball. The red and white ball bursts in the air, letting out a brilliant light as a new combatant takes center stage. The lgith fades away, revealing an incredibly muscular blueish Pokemon with not two, or even three, but with four arms. It's a Machamp, by the name of Maxim.

Spoiler: show

[Fighting]: Fighting Pokémon train extensively, more than any other Pokémon type, which gives them slightly greater endurance and energy.

As the round begins, the two big bad bruisers stare eachother down. Maxim's trainer barks orders, certain of exactly wants to do. Gyatso's trainer is a little more hesitant, telling his Pokemon to change orders not once, or twice, but three times. Gyatso looks at him for a second, but he's got everything under control. Maxim rushes forward, doing a sort of tuck-and-roll maneuver as he curls down, kind of rolling. Gyatso sees the oncoming mass of muscles and decides he wants to stop it right in its tracks. The yellow monkey begins storing up some electricity between his palms, generating quite the sizable orb of energy. As Maxim closes in on him, Gyatso releases the orb, sending the electricity flying about. It courses through the air, clinging on to little bit of rain as it travels forward towards the target. However, it would seem the attack isn't quite fast enough. Before the electricity reaches him, Maxim does his final roll, then fires himself up with his arms, flying directly into Gyatso. As he darts up, the attack strikes him, but his momentum is enough to keep the attack going at full speed. Maxim smacks right into Gyatso, knocking the yellow Pokemon down.

Seeing Gyatso down on the ground makes Maxim incredibly happy. I guess he likes being on top (huehuehue), but Gyatso will have none of this. He flips backwards, and on to his feet, just a moment after he was knocked down. Maxim rushes in with a foot out, in an attempt to trip his adversary. Just as he flings his foot forward, Gyatso puts up a green bubbly barrier. The barrier stops Maxim's attack dead in its tracks, ending the round in a rather boring manner.

Both are still in their first thirds. Both should be fine for two.

Discharge to keep him at bay as you move back. Remain Evasive afterward. If he attempts to use Earthquake against you, push him back with Psychic blast.

The two competitors in this epic match stare each other down, having now seen just how powerful the other is. Gyatso is the first to make a move. Falling back to a common tactic, the yellow monkey stores up some bright electricity between his palms. The lightning crackles as it generates, growing powerful within just a few moments. Maxim just watches at the moment, prepared to take the brunt of the attack. As Gyatso fires off his attack, the electricity darting through the air. The attack travels from drop-to-drop of the ever-falling rain as it hurls toward Maxim. As the attack collides into Maxim, electricity courses throughout him. He winces, staggering back after taking the attack head-on. As Maxim regains balance, he lets out the slightest of relieved sighs, realizing that his mobility hasn't been hampered by the attack. With this knowledge, he sets forth into his attack. Charging a massive store of energy into his hand, Maxim runs towards Gyatso, who appears to be moving away from Maxim, trying to avoid any sort of incoming attack. As Maxim draws near, his hand glowing brightly with a stunning white light, Gyatso goes into a fully evasive stance, crouching down and shifting weight between his feet. Maxim closes in on Gyatso, readying his hand to chop down and smash Gyatso's dreams and aspirations to bits. As the builky blue beast comes in with a chop, Gyatso is quick to react, shifting all his weight onto his left foot, and shooting himself off to the side. Although the yellow monkey is quick on his feet, Maxim is still too close for him to avoid the attack entirely. Maxim's attack falls upon his foe, clipping his side. The attack knocks Gyatso off balance, but he's just happy to not have taken full damage. Just kidding it hit fully and the LOs should rewrite Cross Chop.

As both Pokemon get themselves back up, more staring each other down occurs. Maxim and Gyatso glare with strong intent, but neither of them are quite ready to attack just yet. Gyatso is waiting for an Earthquake. Nothing more, nothing less. Maxim decides that an Earthquake at the moment is not the right choice, so he goes about doing other things. Dipping into his psychic powers, Maxim summons a translucent pink barrier in front of himself. The shield is a little taxing to put up, but he does it nonetheless. Gyatso stands back, still waiting for his opponent, testing the limits of his patience to see if his opponent will pull out that typespammy attack. As it just so happens, Maxim is about to do just that. Just as Parvati had done in the previous matchup, Maxim's hands now glow with the same radiant beige-brown-orange concoction of energy. Gyatso sees the attack, and his instincts kick in, ready for a counter-measure. Using his own psychic energies, Gyatso puts some psychic energy between his palms, and soon a bright pink aura is glowing in front of him. This aura begins to give off an odd sort of sound as it becomes fully charged. As Maxim closes in on his opponent with this power-filled fist, Gyatso makes his attempt to stop the devastating attack. He released his psychic energies from between his palms. The wave of energy flies towards the muscly titan, who rushes in, unperturbed by the typespammy technique. As he and the wave make contact, Maxim appears to take it, completely unaffected by the powerful attack. Why, you ask? Well, it would appear that pink barrier from before is completely guarding Maxim from the attack, invariably saving him from ass loads of typespammy damage. As the attack hits the barrier, it leaves it rather weakened, but the shield holds on with a smidgen of power. As Maxim closes in the last bit of distance between him and his foe, he moves the shield off to the side, and strikes his opponent with the energy-imbued fist. As the attack collides with Gyatso, the shockwaves instantly travel into him, causing the typespammy hit head-on. Gyatso staggers back, winded by the horrifying experience. Wincing, the yellow monkey gets back up. There isn't much distance between these two, so tension is gonna be pretty high going in to the next round of this fierce fight.

Gyatso got wailed on this round, dropping him just barely into his second third. Psychic is over half gone, but he should be fine for two.

Maxim is still in his first third, but is feeling kinda winded after that round. He might be fine for two, but he would appreciate a breather. Psychic and ground are both over half gone, with Ground worse-off than Psychic.

Sneezey~

Yada yada from point blank range Electivire shouldn't have time to dodge Cross Chop when he just used an attack, especially given that he's watching Maxim to see what he's going to do. And there shouldn't be much of a delay in Maxim's attack given that he'll pretty much immediately know whether he's paralyzed.

Arguing in the thread is stupid etc etc.

It seems that Kyro reffed an idle dodge. Thats not illegal to ref =/

Also, your if order caused a delay... my attack hits you, you have to at least consider if he is paralyzed or not before picking an attack.

Idle dodge is not really all that common, and like I said, immediately after using an attack and then watching Maxim to see what he's going to use is basically going to decimate his reaction time, and when already in melee range, dodging shouldn't be a thing in any degree.

And there shouldn't be much delay given that Maxim will instantly know whether or not he's paralyzed.

According to Jeri's school for newbies
- If Moves create a speed penalty on your Pokemon

I think with the explanation in his reffing, he justified why it was a partial hit

..yeah, going over everything again.. Maxim was fresher than Gyatso, and it was pretty much at point blank, etc. Also fighting types have more energy a la SC, so I'm gonna go ahead and edit the round. Honestly, nothing but a little health difference. Feel free to order now.

EDIT: Also, Cross Chop is written badly. Moves in being written obscurely shocker.

1. JSfSN is ancient and never use it
2. The speed penalty isn't going to be much, as I just explained
3. You have your own if order that will give you a nice speed penalty
4. Machamp is both fast and agile
5. Electivire is huge and not that agile
6. They started off in melee range and there should be no room for Electivire to manuever

Edit: Thank you Kyro. Orders shortly.

Round Eleven: References<3

I said last round that tensions would be running high, and I wasn't kidding. These two Pokemon look absolutely pissed at each-other, either one ready to rip the other's head off. Sadly, none of that happens and they're just gonna do more hand-to-hand combat. Still cool stuff, though. Anyways, Maxim is the first to make a move. With a gleam in his eye, the fearsome Pokemon resorts to earlier used tactics of trickery. In another attack not utilizing his four MASSIVE arms, Maxim swings his foot out in front of him. If this were Street Fighter, he'd want to keep his opponent in the air as long as possible. Hell, if this were any fighting game he'd want to do that. But, looks like he's aiming to keep his opponent on the ground for as much of this match as he can possibly muster. The muscly blue leg swings out in an attempt to trip the electric monkey like he tried earlier. However, Gyatso is prepared for the attack, and ready with counter measures to stop it. Just as Maxim's foot is about to hit him, the yellow beast reaches down, grabbing the foot, effectively stopping Maxim in his tracks. However, it would appear Gyatso is unforgiving in his parrying move. Not only does he grab Maxim's leg, but he wants the mighty warrior to feel some pain for trying an attack like that against him. The yellow monkey pulls on Maxim's foot, flipping him upwards. The added strength in Gyatso's attack is put to use, and he is able to lift Maxim almost painlessly, before slamming his foe back into the ground. As Maxim hits the steel floor, Katy Perry can be heard off in the distance. Like she's trying to describe Maxim's current predicament as he's now lying on the cold hard ground. Or maybe it's just EG's ringtone and he listens to crappy pop music. Either way Maxim lets out a sort of grunt, clearly in pain from the horrendous attack.

Luckily for us, the action isn't quite over yet. Well, actually it pretty much is, but let me just do the whole story telling thing, k? k. Anyways, Maxim jumps back onto his feet (insert Bang Shishigami announcing "This is an ukemi!" after everyone clearly saw that he just did an ukemi here), looking ready to fight. Vengeance is in the blue titan's eyes as he stares down his opponent. What right has he to try to counter me like that?.The Machamp decides to make his opponent regret ever messing with him in the first place. He closes his eyes for just a second, and soon a dazzling glow emits from his fist. The energy gives off a slight radiant sound as it charges, but soon the sound is overridden by a much fiercer one. Maxim swings the fist forward, and the air in the arena appears still for a precious moment, then BOOM AHHHH EXPLOSIONS LOUD NOISES HELP I THINK I NEED A DOCTOR. Actually it's a micro explosion, but I'd like to think someday it'll grow up to be a real explosion. I CAN DREAM, CAN'T I? ;; Anyways, as we take a moment to see the damage caused by this lovely explosion, we find ourselves... Utterly disappointed. It would appear nobody got hurt~! That's no fun, but apparently Gyatso put up some sort of barrier to protect himself from the blow. Shame, really. I wanted to see blood. The Light Screen is still there, so that's cool, I guess. Still holding on by like half a thread.

So, Gyatso avoided all damage this round, but energy usage was rather high, mainly due to the second Protect thing. He could use a breather.

Maxim took a nice hit this round, but is still maintaining a health lead. He would also like a breather.

EDIT: SHIT THAT'S NOT KATY PERRY. MY BAD.

Gyatso, land a volt switch against Maxim. Send Oogi in your place. Oogi use disarming voice as you remain evasive. If for some reason the volt switch did not work, Gyatso use discharge.

Round Twelve: This is why we give our Pokémon breaks

This round includes no awesome hand-to-hand combat. This needs to change. Oh well. After finally being able to maybe make some sort of different, Gyatso decides to get out of there. Wait what? Oh well, I'm not his trainer, just a humble ref. Anyways, Gyatso coats himself in some sort of weird, bright, yellow energy. This energy crackles, as though channeling the power of lightning itself. Maxim just stands back and looks at his foe, having been giving orders to just kinda hang back and face-tank this one. Even as Gyatso begins his initial rush in towards his foe, Maxim literally just stands there. What a badass. Gyatso brushes up against Maxim for just a moment, doing rather small amounts of damage before using the bulk of the electrical energy to shoot himself back into his Pokeball. Maxim sees this, and begins preparing his attack for the next opponent. Glowing attacks are all cool and pretty and stuff, so Machamp decides to try one out, enveloping his head in some awesome bright white energy. Of course, he's using it ironically, because he's too masculine for pretty bright energy attacks. What a badass. But before he starts charging with this epic glowing attack, he decides to hang out and wait to see what his next opponent is gonna do.

With his Pokemon freshly returned to his ball, the young electric-gl-to-be sends out his next Pokemon with but the flick of a wrist. As the ball bursts open, a kawaii little electric rat comes out. It's a Raichu named Oogi~! While I personally hate Pikachu, its evolved form is kinda cute. Sadly, cuteness doesn't mean a whole lot in this match. Maxim sees his fresh opponent and rushes towards him with his head tucked down. Oogi sees his opponent running towards him. It's kinda scary to see a Machamp charging at you, so Oogi makes an attempt to stop or at least try to weaken the blue beast. The little rat lets out a sort of shrieking noise. But, this isn't just any normal shriek, this one is all special and such. It's imbued with the magical power of faaaaiiiiiries. Pink energy wave-like things appear to be emminating from the small mouse Pokemon, further displaying the aforementioned power of faaaaiiiiiries. As the waves travels through the arena and towards Maxim, he continues his rush in towards Oogi, ready to absolutely wreck the little thing. As he closes in the small dsitance between himself and his adversary, the pink sound waves strike him in a focused manner. However, Maxim doesn't appear to be noticing the attack nearly as much as he normally would have, thanks to that pseudo-shield of energy around his head. The weak technique hardly even phases the blue beast as he slams into the small rat, knocking him back a few feet. The orange rodent lets out a cry of pain from the impact, but he is still on his feet, ready to avoid any incoming attack. Maxim pants a bit, scornfully looking back at his trainer for not giving him a break, but he can do this. He's big and bad and tough and whatnot, so he's determined to crush that insignificant rodent. He returns to a tactic used to destroy other electric types in the past, and, after a bit of delay, one of his arms begin glowing with a radiant beige-orange-brown-ish aura. The energy seems fills with energy, like it could put a hole in the wall in an instant. Well, of course, given that it had enough ground energy to make it as powerful as possible. But, even if it's somewhat weakened, Maxim still readies the attack, charging the remainder of his ground energy into a single arm. Then, with a look of complete scorn, he runs towards the Raichu before him. It doesn't take much time at all for the titanic Pokemon to clear the small distance between them, but as he swings him arm forward, the rat makes a quick move to the left, swiftly jumping away from Maxim's loafily swung arm. However, the small rat just can't make a move fast enough to conquer the rather small distance between them, and is clipped by the attack, suffering a partial hit and being knocked slightly aback. There's only about a metre between the two Pokemon at the end of the round.

At the end of the round, Maxim has just fallen into his second third of health. No biggie, really, but HOLY SHIT GIVE HIM A BREAK. Oh and ground’s shot.

Oogi is pretty much fresh in every aspect, though he took a fair hit from the Skull Bash and partial Earthquake. Fine for two.

Sneezey~

I'm sorry, but this is only Maxim's fourth round out. I know he had a fairly intensive second round thanks to the three mover, but he's a Fighting type and shouldn't be THAT tired. Pokemon don't just instantly go from "would like a break" to starting missing attacks. If anything it'll cause their short term energy usage to jump.

As for the idea of Raichu being immediately evasive... no. You don't get to use a two mover and still say "remain evasive". On top of that, Raichu is built for top speed, not agility. Once again they were in point blank range and Raichu is a decent sized 'mon. Fresh or not, he shouldn't be able to jump out of the way like that that easily.

Raichu is perfectly fresh... you have dished out several high powered moves, even a three mover without a singular break. Why wouldnt a completely fresh Raichu be unable to move out of the way of EQ when you have not given machamp the chance to even breathe?

Because melee range, EG, and Raichu is not agile, it is fast. Fighters are also less prone to fatigue than other 'mon. It's just not going to flat out miss on round fukken four for no reason. Especially since it technically got a slight breather just by waiting for you to switch at the beginning of the round.

Additionally, if you're going to say "Stay evasive", it should be counted as an order or not counted at all. Pokemon will naturally have some amount of idle dodge, but it's not a great amount and only really works if there's distance or the move is incredibly slow.

Also, WAY TO BE A HYPOCRITE. Bitching at Kyro before the round was even posted and outside of the thread.

Right, so, I'm just gonna go and make it a partial hit like I had originally planned. With fighting SC and distance taken into consideration, it's clear that he won't get an outright dodge. Oh, and a fair number of attacks Machamp used in the past four rounds were only about Good energy, which isn't a whole lot. So yeah, edits to come in just a sec. Feel free to order~

Also, thank you for putting up with my inability to ref correctly.
