Before anything happens, a random child in the crowd shouts out at the battle. It's complete and utter nonsense, something about Agility and Double Edge, making no sense considering one of the combatants is currently lying with his face in the dirt. The boy is silenced by some of his friends and promptly ignored by the trainers before they get back to business. The fallen Electivire is recalled, his large form vanishing into the bright beam of red, and his trainer, kingothestone, slinks dejected into the small crowd of newbies while the veterans celebrate their first knockout for the match. Resolute, the next of the newbies steps into the battler's box. It's none other than blazeVA, who, while having been around for a short while, did still qualify to be on the newbie team. Likely to be one of the biggest challenges for the veterans to face, it makes a bit of sense for him to try to gain an early lead for his team, and with a smirk it becomes obvious he intends to do just that as he tosses his Pokeball into the air. A bright flash takes form as a figure bursts into the sky to take flight. And quite the familiar figure it is, another Hydreigon flying smoothly a nice ways below the altitude Thrak finds himself at. This particular three headed beast goes by the name Trishula, and he's been trained and retyped to have his Dark type replaced with that of Ice, making him an excellent typespam cannon for the incoming mirror match dogfight.

Trishula is now a Dragon/Ice type, with all the weaknesses (Dragon, Fighting, Steel, Rock) and resistances (Water, Grass, Electric) that the typing has. In addition to this, Trishula learns the moves Ice Beam and Blizzard, being one of ice and all. Trishula never learned the moves Superpower, Crunch, Draco Meteor, or Outrage, preferring its own Ice type moves to deal serious damage. As an Ice dragon, Trishula has no Fire energy what so ever.
Immediately the new combatant is met with a bit of turbulence. The technique Thrak used against his earlier foe begins to form in the air, an eerie mist rolling in slowly causing the trainers and onlookers to shiver as their hair stands on end. The general discomfort is for good reason, as the nine wraiths of the ring appear once more, the Nazgul approaching Trishula slowly from all directions, even capable of floating through the air as they do so, further adding to their haunting appearance. Inching in, the wraiths reach the icy dragon after a few brief moments, and none other than the witch king unsheathes a short dagger of energy, the ethereal blade slicing through the flesh of Trishula in an instant. While no wound appears nor pain is felt, the dragon roars in discomfort as he begins to feel weakened by the technique. The wraiths are quick to flee, vanishing into the air after a second, taking their mist with them. The unnerving technique ended, Trishula turns his sights towards the dragon above him and beats his wings in a single, powerful stroke.

Propelling himself quickly, the dragon of ice quickly reaches max speed and he goes to fly beneath the fell beast above. Corkscrewing in order to take aim at his foe, Trishula's eyes narrow as he gets Thrak into his sight. The dragon quickly puts to work his modified typing, opening the maw of his central head as a small sphere of cryogenic energy forms in front of his mouth. Quickly, the orb begins to arc, loosing a few thin streams of energy that dance around eachother in a rather jagged fashion to form an otherwise straight beam. Thrak has had plenty of time to prepare, however, thanks to the technique that his foe faced upon entry to the battlefield, and with a beat spirals sideways as he begins to fly in a downwards arc towards the new combatant. His body begins to glow with the bluegreen energy of his kind as he dives downwards, doing his best to avoid the attack his enemy has sent his way. Nonetheless, Thrak finds his wing clipped as the cryogenic blast lances across his right side, causing it to frost over nicely, restricting its movement nicely. Thanks to his movement being largely downward, however, he finds himself being able to right his trajectory, charging towards Trishula before slamming into his mirrored foe, causing both dragons to plummet. Thanks to Trishula's already low altitude, the dragon finds himself slammed into the ground by Thrak, who is thankful for the cushioned landing as he flaps and slithers off of the body of his foe, turning himself around after making it a couple feet away, unable to take back to the sky thanks to the icing his wing took.

Brushing himself off from the hefty blow, Trishula beats his wings a few times to regain a bit of height as he eyes his foe. Deciding to take his revenge as immediately as possible, the monsterous drake opens his mouths all at once as energy swirls between the three. A wave of pure energy, not unlike that which covered his foe mere moments ago, blasts through the short distance between the two. Thrak's reaction time is practically zero, and though he may try to slither out of the way of the blast, he's simply too tired and the assault too speedy for him to do so. Striking the beast with force in his side, Thrak is knocked over sideways and sent for a brief tumble. All three of Trishula's mouths grin, almost as widely as that of his trainer, as dust flies into the air while they crowd attempts to figure out the fate of the dark dragon. The dust settles, and though Thrak is clearly extremely battered, the dragon manages to rise to face his foe for now. Trishula's eyes widen in surprise at the sight, and it would appear that Thrak and Kush both have recognized this fight is not for them, as the grounded beast brings his two outer heads together as if they were arms, an orb of bright green energy slowly forming between them. With Trishula never having made an effort to get too high up, the ball is easily flung towards the dragon, finding its target in the left wing of the beast and causing it to do a quick spiraling turn in the air before righting itself from the somewhat small blow. The remaining green glow surrounds Thrak, quickly turning the form of the dragon into pure energy, before beginning to turn a bright red, not unlike that of the Electivire from the beginning of the round. Thrak is quickly sucked back into his ball, and Kush smirks before taking a single step back with only a single word. "Shadowshocker."

An odd man wearing a lab coat steps past the previous trainer and into the battler's box, the scientist grinning at the shock on the faces of the newbie team. Yes, it is none other than the Poison Gym Leader Shadowshocker whom Kush has chosen to take things from here, and the trainer holds out a rather oddly emblazoned Pokeball, entirely green with what appears to be a black hourglass on the top, before nodding to the ref and tossing it onto the field. With an equally odd flash of green and black, a slender form stands where the panting Hydreigon once was, green and white with blades for arms the figure strikes a heroic pose before shouting his name for all to hear. "XLR8!" The Gallade exclaims proudly, quickly taking a battle stance and eyeing the Hydreigon mere yards away.

As a Ralts destined for Galladehood XRL8 was always focusing on his physical statistics, but in particular after noting that Gallade's GenIV disappointment largely stemmed from a less-than-useful Speed stat he began obsessing over Speed, despite the factor usually not having too much bearing in animé-style physics. Even this didn't stop him from pushing the frontiers of speed further than most of his evolutionary line were ever known for, and after a training regime spanning months that also involved next to none of his special energy skills, he achieved his goals of blinding speed.
Signature Move: Speed Demon
XLR8 is considered to be familiar with Agility and has learned Extremespeed. In addition, whenever he uses Extremespeed as the first move in combination with another physical move to damage his opponent, he can expend 10% more energy used in the combination to ensure the combination is executed seamlessly and do 10% more base damage. (For example, combining Extremespeed and Psycho Cut, XLR8 can use 10% more than the normal total amount of energy used to do 110% of the damage Extremespeed and Psycho Cut do.) However, due to his lack of attention on his special moves, XLR8 can no longer use Hyper Beam, Grass Knot, Trick Room, Magical Leaf, Icy Wind, Will-o-wisp, Grudge or Imprison. He can also no longer use Psychic in its telekinesis mode to move anything at will.
Thrak may as well be out of this fight, with his health completely decimated to the point he could fall to a stiff wind and his energy reserves on the lower end. But he didn't go down without a fight, having landed a rather nice bit of damage to his foe, leaving Trishula looking pretty nicely scuffed up to start things off, though the ice dragon is obviously feeling rather fresh. XLR8 is fresh as a daisy and ready to get things underway.

Shadowshocker, your orders please.

I thought about running, but FUCK RUNNING.
Plow into him with a Dragon Rush while he is busy trying to stare you down, then Fly into the air to avoid the Focus Blast.

It will be a honor fighting you again Shadowshocker. But this time, I will not fall as easily! You will see!

The representative from the newbie team eyes down the matchup that has been placed before him, his arm trembling heavily as he tightly grips the Pokeball of his Hydreigon. He is clearly suffering from severe doubts as to whether or not sticking in this fight will be a good idea, and the sight of it is enough to a brief smirk from the otherwise calm face of the scientist. The trembling stops as the newbie's eyes grow fierce, his position shifting into a confident battle pose as he shouts across the field. His declaration that's he's not backing down is enough to elicit a stare of amusement from his lab coat wearing opponent, cheers from his fellow team members, and general bewilderment from the onlookers as they chatter about type charts. Trishula's body almost naturally shifts in such a way that it mimics the confidence of his trainer, and XLR8's eyes narrow on his now prepared foe. The scientist calmly elicits orders to his Gallade, quickly followed by a barking of orders from the newbies, and the Pokemon simultaneously break their stances, signaling what is sure to be a spectacle of a matchup.

XLR8's already narrowed gaze becomes much more menacing suddenly, the Gallade shifting into a much more intimidating pose, raising his shoulders and bringing his arms and feet out. The corners of his lips creep quickly up his cheeks as his brow lowers to draw a couple of flattened lines above his normally round eyes. Trishula, seemingly knowing what is about to befall him, begins to glow, the very same blue-green glow that his previous foe had just last round, in fact, and with a beat of his wings takes charge at his standing opponent. Before the dragon can make contact with the slender knight, XLR8's eyes glow an eerie blue, and the energy surrounding Trishula quickly loses its greenish hue until it becomes a similar color. The dragon slams heavily into the Gallade almost immediately thereafter, the sizable weight difference between the two causing the humanoid to get absolutely floored in the process, knocked clean off his feet before going for a tumble on the grass for a nice number of yards. Trishula's momentum is largely unphased by the strike, carrying the beast past his foe by a distance not too different from where they had started. But his trainer has his concerns in other things, eyeing the Hydreigon's Pokeball. Sure enough, the sphere glows blue slightly, indicating an energy preventing proper linking between itself and the Pokemon now on the field.

While Trishula was, unfortunately for the newbie team, not fast enough to stop the main energy of the technique, his assault on his foe has at least spared him of any mind altering effects it would seem. But as his foe picks himself up from his unfortunate date with the dirt, Trishula's window of escape is closing fast. A few more beats of his wings cause the dragon to ascend rapidly as XLR8 manages to pick himself from the floor. The distance between the two growing quickly, the Gallade brings his hands together with a clap before slowly seperating them, a small orb glowing a dull orange beginning to form as he does so. With the orb not quite at the maximum power it is capable of reaching, the knight takes aim at his opponent as the dragon takes evasive action above. The sphere is chucked at the Hydreigon, whizzing through the sky at incredible speeds, but Trishula is too fast and too far away, managing to roll to its right as the sphere sails past, eventually fizzing out in the distance rather harmlessly. With typespam averted, Trishula turns his gaze on his grounded foe, and the eyes of the combatants lock across the yards as the round tapers off.

Trishula managed to avoid any damage this round, whilst still dishing out a nice blow to XLR8, though there is still a sizable gap between the states each of the Pokemon are in. As far as energy usage, neither Pokemon had particularly intensive rounds, and are still clearly well off, though Trishula might appreciate a breather sooner rather than later.

Blaze, next round orders please.

Trish, use Fly to avoid any attacks for now. If you are grounded somehow, keep him at bay with a Hyper Voice.

Uncomfortable with the idea of being so close to a highly physical Pokemon such as Gallade, Trishula decides to make to the sky. A swift beat of the wing causes her to ascend with tremendous speed, but she doesn't exactly get all that far before XLR8 catches the attention of the Hydreigon. The Gallade unleashes a swift flurry of insults so obscene that if I dared mention them here I'd quite possibly be out of a job. The remarks ring through the area, causing the crowd of children nearby to widen their eyes and drop their jaws in shock without a single chaperon around to protect them from the scene. The words are back up rather handily by some lewd gestures as XLR8 transitions into talking about the Hydreigon's personal life and what it must be like to have three heads. Now filled with more rage than Shadowshocker at the mention of Thunder Armor, Trishula quickly ceases her ascent and turns her attention back towards the Gallade below. The Hydreigon finds herself rather unsure of what to do next. Too angry to continue forward, but decidedly not grounded in any way, she finds herself without orders, and simply beats her wings steadily to remain in position a decent ways into the air. But she soon finds herself having other problems, the Gallade below brings his hands together in a combat pose closely resembling something clean out of Dragon Ball, and ironically enough forms a shining orange sphere between his palms. The orb grows to full size with relative speed, and once it's ready XLR8 takes aim at his foe a bit away before tossing the ball with a good bit of force. The sphere barrels through the space between the two with speed before coming to strike Trishula in the gut in what can only be called a bullseye. The dragon roars out in pain as the energy explodes around her, plummeting from her position considerably before spreading her wings to slow her fall, coming to a halt a few feet above the arena floor to stare at her foe with a fire burning in her eyes.

Trishula's health plummeted thanks to that nasty hit, and she's certainly not looking great at this point, while XLR8 managed to go entirely untouched this round. The dragon got a relatively good break and is feeling pretty well off in the energy department, while XLR8 used a sizable chunk of energy, though is still okay thanks to that Fighting typing for now.

Shadowshocker, orders please.

And lo, in true veteran fashion, the scientist takes properly forever to order, setting a truly wonderful example considering that this match is stickied. The young trainer begins to bark orders, frustrated, but the ref puts up a hand, signaling him to cease. A quick button push on the Ref-O-Matic later and XLR8 is sucked quickly back into his Pokeball, resulting in an instant knockout.

Shadowshocker has been disqualified! XLR8 is unable to battle!

Our next representative from the Vets with a 'mon and orders, please.

Ok we did decide what to do with this but no-one has dealt with it so I'll deal the killing blow. Given that this isn't a particularly good format and that several of the participants on our side don't have the time to actually engage with it, we're throwing in the towel. Sneezey, I think we're settled on giving 1 TP to each newbie as consolation.

Let us never speak of this again.

RIGHT THEN.

BlazeVA, Ger, Lanturn, kingothestone, Red Panda, Connor, Kyro12, EmeraldGoblin, Fallen Icarus, Tyoyo3131, Swampertforever, and swampert28 each get a full refund on any SP that they spent on this match in addition to 1 TP as a consolation prize. The veteran team receives only a refund, no free TP.

I get 1 SP for actually managing to ref a KO in this doomed match.

Mercutio, Shadowshocker, Jerichi, DaveTheFishGuy, Kuno, and Mozz get to hang their heads in collected shame.

Let this never be spoken of nor attempted ever again.
