UPN PASBL: Newbies vs Vets - Exhibition Match

Welcome ASBers to one of the craziest things we've tried in recent years. It's Newbies vs Vets!

In the blue corner, the newbie team; BlazeVA, Ger, Lanturn, KingotheStone, Redpanda, ImaPenguin, Kyro12, EmeraldGoblin, Fallen Icarus, Tyoyo and the Swampy's!

In the red corner, the vet team; Kuno, Kush, Jeri, Dave, SS and Mozz!

The match stats look like this;

6 vs 12
Equiall 6
Singles
96 Hour DQ
Hidden Squad
Switch=KO
No badges or tokens
No three movers
Slapstick
Lawn Arena

Just to make sure everyone is on the same page with the rules; one pokemon from each side will be out at once, and that pokemon is controlled by that trainer - ordering is not a team effort. Feel free to give advice to your active teammate if asked, but for the most part back off and let them battle. Any switches via switching moves must be approved by the person you're switching to (work this out with them before ordering it). When any pokemon faints, it's up to the team to decide who'll play next, at which point the chosen player should just start posting in the thread. The DQ time will be held fairly strictly and will apply to players not teams.

I'll leave the thread open for a while for any banter posts/support/etc people may wish to make, players or otherwise. In 24 hours or so I'll post the first reffing, after which the only people to post in the thread should be myself and the trainers of the currently active two pokemon.

Coin flip says that the vets team will order first after the hidden round.

Let's get on with it then!

Good luck vets. We may have the numbers advantage but you guys are the best trainers in the League, so this is going to be a tough fight. Our squad is ready and I expect to see nothing from the best from all of you.

Also, Concept reffing quickly!? What is this!?

Yeah I deliberately didn't post the thread until I'd already done the reffing :p.

Also are there any objections if I use 4/6 in the interests of this actually finishing?

I'm ok with that but I think it's more beneficial to us than to the newbs.

But anyways, good luck to both sides. This will be fun :3

I'm fairly easy with any health/energy system the participants would prefer, 4/6 was just a suggestion to make it more likely to finish. It's really up to you guys.

The kid's breath comes in pants by the time he catches up with the football, rolling to a gentle stop as it crosses the chalk boundary. He glances up. The old pokemon field. Wonky white lines cut into the grass, outlining edges of the arena and the iconic pokeball in the centre. To his surprise it seems to be in use today. A large group of people mill about, some of them stopped to look at him bemusedly. Eyes raking white and red spheres at their belt before rising to meet the gaze of the nearest one. A look of shock spreads across his face; mouth falls open and eyes widen, almost cartoon like. He recognises that guy standing not five feet away. And over there! Surely that can't be...
He turns and runs.
Skidding to a halt back where his friends wait, his hastily gabbled phrases run over their chatting.
"Guys there's a bunch of real famous trainers and they're going to have a battle!" The group falls silent and looked at him blankly for a moment. "It's gonna be totally awesome!"
As one they abandon their game, running towards the battle, their football left forgotten.

At one end of the arena the larger group clusters around, arguing heatedly but voices hushed. Two in particular seem to be at the center of debate. As the kids arrive there's a subtle change in the gesticulations that indicates at least a grudging consensus. The smaller group merely stands around. Outwardly casual, but the kid is sure he detect and undercurrent of nervousness - like the first day of school, he thinks, so important to appear confident regardless of the turmoil of nervousness underneath.

As if at a signal, a trainer steps forward from each team. They flick their pokeballs into the centre. The onlookers gasp in appreciation as their choices are revealed, and the older trainer favours them with a cocky grin.

Quote:
Thrak (Level 6 male Hydreigon)
Zweilous: (Dark/Dragon) Zweilous is blind, but due to this, is in a constant state of confusion and rage. This makes its attacks less accurate but as if powered permanently by a Howl. It does still have some perception of its world, though, able to hear and smell foes, and possibly sense their movement. Its two heads will rarely work together, but when both do happen to perform the same attack on the same target (about a 10% chance, adjusted based on the circumstances), the power of the attack will rise. Due to their eagerness, however, Zweilous have more energy than a normal Pokémon.
Hidden Power: Flying.
Signature Move: "Wrath of Angmar" (Dark); Thrak snarls fiercely, intimidating immediate opponents, his roar a guttural oath in the Black Speech of Mordor. The avatars of the nine Ring Wraiths come forth and curse the foe, lowering their defensive stats by 10%. The Ring Wraiths then retreat to the far corners of the sky. Subsequently, every time the foe sends out a new pokémon, the Wraiths appear and curse them anew. This attack costs significant energy, deals no damage and is affected by standard boost stipulations. It may be used once per battle. Thrak cannot use Heatwave, Superpower or Hyper Beam.

Zeus (Level 6 Male Electivire)
Electivire (Electric): Electivire is able to use its tails to channel Electric attacks. Direct contact with the foe using its tails will give a slight boost in the chance of paralysis for the attack and will make paralysis in the contact area far more likely.
[Special Training: Kheimon's Blessing]
Zeus has gained an Ice Familiarity and can now use Ice Beam, Ice Shard and Powder Snow. Due to his training, he never learned any fire type moves. He also never learned Focus Punch, Cross Chop, Dynamicpunch, Rolling Kick, Brick Break or Rock Smash due to the Beartic he trained with being afraid of those moves in particular.
The pokemon almost mimic their trainer's stances, Thrak streching confidently as he ascends whilst Zeus joins the trainers of his team in eying the dragon nervously. For a moment it's all anyone can do to stare at the two. The moment shatters; orders shouted in rapid succession. Zeus tenses briefly. A low yellow glow gathers around him, accompanied by an ominous crackling sound. The glow builds, the volume rising in their ears. Thrak unfurls. His wings spread wide, not one but three mouths flexed open, baring teeth. Hellish shrieking drowns out the sound of electricity, burrowing its way into the ears of all present, sinking deep into the core of their being and unlocking a primordial terror long thought forgotten. Even Zeus finds himself not immune. The aura sputters and dies with a violent flurry of lightening bolts. He takes an involuntary step back, hand raised as if to shield himself.

Thrak contents itself with weaving in the air as everyone recovers. Zeus lowers his hand. Emboldened by the lack of follow up, he gathers his remaining courage and once more musters a charge in his fur. Blue sparks move and coalesce into great arcs weaving around his body. Hand raised to the heavens. With a sound like the cracking of a dozen whips, blue tendrils streak erratically across the space between the two combatants. Thrak attempts to fly around the attack, soaring higher, but the wild and widespread nature of the assault precludes his success. One of the arcs clips his tail but prompts little more than a minor grunt. Not quite the success Zeua had been hoping for.

The opening salvos have been fairly low key, and the small gathering of children and trainers watch eagerly for more.

2-3, closer to the latter probably. I also went with 4/6 in the end. And since I realise I didn't include it in the reffing;

Right, thanks. And kudos on the great reffing, top notch.

Good luck newbs. Enjoy this amusing comparison between our pokémon.

Thrak, see how weak they are! Use Double Team, spreading your clones in all directions across the sky. If you are revealed, use Dragon Breath. Remain high, remain evasive!

Good luck to you as well, Kush.

He calls us weak, yet they hide in the sky. Taunt him to put a stop to his antics. Should his trickery prove successful, perform a double team of your own, spreading out as widely as possible. If your taunt is successful, however, a signal beam after the dragonbreath ought to do the trick.
