Well no what we should actually do is start enforcing that.

I actually thought there was a ruling say that wasn't a thing, to be honest...it really shouldn't be a thing.

No it really should.

People have a hard on recently for saying that doubles are broken. One reason they actually can argued to be broken is that you can happily KO two Pokémon in quick succession without really trying that hard, and it isn't because of type effectiveness. Make it so that you can only KO two Pokémon at one using a widesprea move like Surf or Earthquake and you change it from being two separate 1 vs 1s or a 2 vs 1 and make it an actual double battle.

But it makes no sense, I mean why is a pokemon gonna wait patiently for a trainer to send out their next pokemon? Besides it's just an artificial delay of action, what difference outside of maybe...an extra round (where by the way the person who just had a pokemon faint is gonna be at an disadvantage any way due to ordering first) would it make to enforce this logic defying rule?

Also for the record if you want to get rid of the idea of nuking in doubles, removing the ability for your 'mon to finish orders when your opponent just aggro'd your ally is probably not the best way of handling it, especially since they get to do the exact same thing next round since you're sending out.

I'm not gonna argue which way is better. All I'd like to see is it being enforced one way or the other rather than the site saying one thing, but refs reffing it another way.

You are actually putting the nukee at a major disadvantage with that rule, since they now have to order first again.

It's stupid.

Perhaps you're right. But either way you're at a huge disadvantage and you just described how singles works.

Honestly we should be allowing an alternate way for turn order to work if you were supposed to go second and have to send out. It really should just be you send out, opponent orders, you order instead of the way it currently is. It really wouldn't be that hard and it would prevent these nuke and snowball strategies that have become so popular.

No, it's not a purely doubles issue. We could be dong that anyway, people have talked about it on and off for years. Why is it that we build in a huge disadvantage to having to send out a Pokémon? There are logical reasons to do so but from a gameplay standpoint it's actually not a great call. Why don't we make it so that you send out after a KO, the opponent orders, then you order? Either way is arbitrary and bullshit but this method prevents someone from getting too much momentum, which is basically how you win at anything larger than a 2 vs 2.

Personally, I would like to see what is being suggested implemented. After a KO, the turn order should be "send out new Pokemon --> opponent orders --> you order". Like Kush said, it allows for more strategic play in most matches since it removes the concept of snowballing your momentum, which is largely how people swing matches their way in the current meta.

Oh, I was confused.

Yes, I agree, actually. I find that losing match ups is a major momentum killer as it is and ordering first on the sendout can just be the nail in the coffin. I'd be willing to make that change, or at the very least make it so the order of commands is preserved (i.e. if you were KO'd when going first, you'd send out, they'd order, and you'd order, but if it happened while going second, the order would be preserved). Either is really fine.

Preserving the order of command is probably a bit better to do since it wouldn't punish you if you manage to KO your foe ordering first.

Yeah I like the idea of preservation of turn order. It means that any notable momentum gathered during a KO in the event you managed it within the first turn is preserved, while any momentum that is gained by your opponent doesn't become so insurmountable that you're 2 HB's down going into the next match up by pure virtue of being nailed by super effective attacks on the first turn.

Slightly off-topic: Aegislash is able to use Iron Head with the tip of its blade, right? The head of a sword is not the hilt, its the pointy bit at the top. Plus Aegislash is pretty bad and not getting the slash boost on its best move is kinda silly.

Chipping in to support the preservation of turn order, as it balances it without taking out the tactical component of timing KOs- In fact, it balances it better by making it the payoff for KOing at the time it's hardest to do so (ordering first) rather than the time its easiest to do so (ordering second). It promotes planning ahead and mindgames rather than flawless A -> B situations and that's a very, very good thing.

Yeah preservation is good.

We should still make a KO end the round in doubles.

So a single KO to end the Doubles round? I'm all for preserving the turn order when a Pokemon is KOed, so that nuking and getting the typespam train rolling becomes more difficult. Once that train rolls out, it's not fun any more.

Like with previous gens/HGSS etc, we'll make an announcement when you can. It'll be whenever Veekun updates.

Was there a time limit on half-price halloween slots or can we still grab them provided we get enough SP?

I want some clarification on Sigs and HPs in sqaud posts for battles.

I've been under the impression that even if you don't post a sig to battle, that sig is still always considered in effect for that match. Basically, you can't drop a sig for a match, because there are advantages for doing so (for example, I have a Dragon/Ice Zweilous. If I don't post its sig, it becomes a Dark/Dragon Zweilous with all of its moves back.) I was wondering if this is indeed possible or if its completely disallowed, and if this applies to Hidden Powers as well.
