UPN PASBL: MCXD VS kingothestone

Welcome one and all to this fabulous match between two newbies, one part of the swarm of comp newbs, and another from a few years back. Interesting.

MCXD (c) Vs kingothestone (a)
3 vs 3
Single
Equilevel 1
Switch = OK
72 HR DQ
Slapstick
Beach Arena

There are the rules. I assume that you guys know the rules. The arena:

Beach (Outdoor Custom Arena): Basic Sand arena with the following special rules. Grandstand (Left over from the last beach volleyball competition probably), Sandy, Terrain Edge (Sea), Weather (Heat Wave)

A few minor modifications, since A) what's the point in so many buildings and B) I hate wild pokemon rule so no thank you. Heat Wave means that the weather is ALWAYS under the affects of Sunny Day, though repeated uses of Rain Dance can slightly alleviate this. The Grandstand is large and wooden, go nuts. And ocean shtuff.

Squad from MC, Squad and poke from kots, poke and orders from MC, orders from kots, me ref, flip and repeat. GOGO.

Good luck! And thanks for reffing, redpanda15!

Obsidian [Level 1 Male Murkrow]
Bio: Obsidian is a Murkrow of a different color; Not literally, but figuratively. Although he may enjoy occasionally getting into a bit of mischief, for the most part he has completely shaken his species penchant for bullying and thieving. Instead he has developed into a well-rounded and somewhat charming bird, if a little misunderstood. This didn't go over well with his old flock members and he was soon kicked to the curb by the other Murkrow when they tired of his morals. Since then he has traveled and eventually became the very first member of the team, happy to have found a home free of prejudice. He has since developed a thing for appealing to the female gender, especially lady-birds, and can't resist a looker.
Per: Compassionate, resourceful, thoughtful and charismatic. Surprisingly loyal for a Murkrow, at least to those who earn his respect. Still has some sense of mischief innate to his species. A strong believer in not judging books by their cover, and seems rather insulted by his species' terrible reputation.
HP: Steel

* "Murkrow are symbols of woe amongst Pokémon and people, particularly when seen at night. Murkrow can see in the dark, and fight more enthusiastically at night."
* "Dark types can see in the dark. They prefer to fight at night, however light does not adversely affect them."
* "Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation. When standing on the ground, they take 1x damage from Electric moves."

Pearl [Level 1 Female Buizel]
Bio: She was the tough one of a small family of Buizel that lived close to a beach. They, along with many other residents of the area, weren't particularly fortunate in their chosen home as powerful water Pokemon had claimed the area as their own and bullied others to do tasks like collecting food for little or no thanks. Pearl wasn't going to stand for it and often made a scene by picking fights with the oppressors - frequently coming out of it with a black eye or two, much to her parents concern. All of this was resolved over time, so with her 'job done' she eventually began to wander up the river on a journey - where she very quickly bumped into Obsidian and Amber. Partial to Buizels, the two of them managed to convince her to join as the third member of the team once she displayed her strength. Despite her rebellious nature, she has enough of an appreciation for nature and is fascinated by the sea and sky - sometimes wishing she were born a deep sea fish or a high-flying bird. Her ultimate goal is to become an ***-kicking Floatzel who has the power to take down bullies and bad guys everywhere!
Per: Competitive, pushy, opinionated, emotional. Acts decidedly 'tomboy', especially in public, acting slightly more relaxed in private. She is known to hold a grudge, not particularly fond of losing, especially through what she feels to be 'dishonest' means. Depending on the day, she can be jealous of or in awe/admiration of those with great power.
HP: Ground

* "Buizel uses its tails similar to a propeller. This allows it to control its speed in the water and make sharp turns with great ease. By using a move, it can also hover over the ground slightly by rapidly spinning its tails, but each round its sustained costs good energy. The ring around its neck can be used as a floatation device, making it hard to force underwater."
* "Water Pokémon are able to hold their breath and/or breathe under water. The time varies, from about half an hour to one hour for reptilians and mammals, and indefinitely for fish and squid like Pokémon. They are also, generally, good swimmers."

Spooks [Level 1 Male Duskull]
Bio: Spooks is a mysterious ghost who was haunting the humans that traveled through a particular valley trail. Feeling particularly audacious, he got into a fight with the team and was thoroughly trounced. The ghost seemed distraught about the harsh reaction to his fun and the other Pokemon seemed to sympathize, looking after him a bit until he recovered. From then on he expressed interest in joining the team as its forth member. Spooks enjoys investigating unusual and rare items, particularly those supposedly imbued with ghostly energies, and often goes off to search for such things. He has a collection in a little bag he carries around when not battling.
Per: Acts very playful, competitive and is somewhat of a prankster, but truthfully tends to get confused and insecure if things aren't working out. He hates looking weak or reliant on anyone, sometimes refusing help unnecessarily. Still, he means well, tries not to take anything too far and is quite forgiving. Occasionally, he feels lonely and needs some reassurance.
HP: Fighting

* "Though it can become solid or invisible, Duskull is nearly always ethereal. Though rather slow, it makes up for this with a fantastic ability to hide, able to reside in walls and other solid objects for a little longer than other ghosts and able to pass through thicker walls. Its defence and special defence are slightly higher than those of other Ghosts, but its attack and special attack are slightly weaker."
* "Ghosts are resistant to attacks which induce confusion or other mental effects and are immune to telekinetic-based Psychic moves if not in the solid state (though will still take damage from Psychic moves regardless of state). They cannot be poisoned. Ghosts fight more enthusiastically at night and can see in the dark, though they are not put off by fighting in the day. Their fear inducing attacks are more effective than those used by other pokémon. Ghost-types take neutral damage from Normal, Fighting and typeless attacks in the ASB, as opposed to in the games, but some may change their state in order to evade certain moves. See Ghost Pokémon Information for details on states."

Knight [Level 1 Male Pawniard]
Bio: Knight grew up as part of a small band of Pawniard and Bisharp who were dedicated to some sort of religious shrine. Supposedly an object of power was stored inside and he and his family had been tasked throughout the last couple of generations with protecting it from intruders at all costs. This, somehow, didn't stop Spooks from getting in one evening in search of this object - nothing out of the ordinary for such a nosy ghost. Knight was one of the guardians who had caught him in the shrine, but in doing so, they realized that this 'object' they had been trying to protect had actually been taken from the shrine long ago already. Frustrated and suddenly without a direction in life, he eventually caught up with the rest of the team and was offered to join, getting the opportunity to see the world and contribute his skills while searching for his purpose.
Per: Impatient, slightly short-tempered, often taking things too seriously. Can't stand bullies and criminals and will try to teach them a lesson. He is very protective of his friends, both physically and socially. Dependable and selfless, putting others before himself even if it threatens his safety. Gives the impression of a guardian. Has a passing interest in music and art.
HP: Water

* "Pawniard’s body has multiple sharp steel blades on it, which it can use for attack or defense. Pokémon directly attacking Pawniard risk lacerations and decent recoil damage."
* "Dark types can see in the dark. They prefer to fight at night, however light does not adversely affect them."
* "Steel types, like rock types, have hard bodies, making them resistant to unskilled physical blows, and sink in water. While not bothered by water to the degree rock types are, they still would rather fight out of the water. Unlike rock types, most steel Pokémon prefer cold temperatures to hot ones."

Lief [Level 1 Male Shroomish]
Bio: To come...
Per: Normally mellowed out and pleasant. Not the most powerful tool in the shed, but one of the easiest to handle. Is somewhat of a creative thinker but also blessed with a great deal of patience and observance. Enjoys soaking up the sun and experiencing nature.
HP: Rock

* "Shroomish's spores and powders are somewhat more effective. "
* "Grass types live anywhere that can support vegetation, though most prefer temperate to tropical climates. Grass types enjoy both bright sun and rain. Rainstorms will heal them slightly every round the rain falls."

Knash [Level 1 Male Gible]
Bio: To come...
Per: Quite an exaggerated and crazy character, almost always expressing emotions very outwardly and hopping about eagerly with a confident and attention-drawing swagger. He doesn't come off as having too massive of an ego however, being genuinely helpful. A big eater and a big sleeper, at least when he isn't running about being crazy.
HP: Dark

* "Gible can effectively "swim" through the ground, able to dig very quickly and nimbly. While it can do this underground to some extent, it moves the fastest when just below the surface, its fin sticking out of the ground. Gible's large teeth and firm jaw give it a slight boost in power to all biting attacks. Gible can see in the dark."
* "Dragons tend to be good swimmers and fliers. However, they hate cold weather."
* "Ground Pokémon are considered to be immune to electricity while standing on the ground. If a Ground Pokémon is in the air, they take 75% the normal damage from electric attacks. If a ground type is wet, electric attacks affect it normally (unless the Pokémon is naturally wet/slimy, like Quagsire)."

Thanks for reffing, red. And good luck to you, MC.

Khione

[Level 1 Female Vanillite]
[Biography]
Khione, while in mythic legend is the daughter of Boreas, is in this instance the daughter of the lead mascot of the guild Creamery Command. The guild mascots include a large group of Vanilluxe, Vanillish and Vanillite, all with their own histories that have caused them to adopt a special "flavor", or recoloring. Khione, however, was deemed to be too frail to be a mascot, and thus was given to me to train. We have worked hard over the past 3 years since Creamery Command first opened, and she is now one of my most trusted partners.

[Hidden Power]
Ground

[Signature Attack: Ice Cream Sundae (Ice)]
Using ice energy, Khione creates a ball of hard ice cream and sends it flying at her opponent. The ball can vary in size depending on charge time, topping out at the size of a softball (12 inch circumference). The attack does good damage while using good energy. Additionally, the attack has a 20% chance of causing a 'brain freeze', which will cause the afflicted Pokemon to be unable to attack for approximately 2-3 seconds. If the ball of ice cream manages to get into the mouth of the target, the chance of brain freeze is doubled to 40% and will last for 5-6 seconds. This attack can be used twice per battle. Khione never learned to use Frost Breath.

*Vanillite: (Ice) Vanillite moves by “skating” over the ground, propelling itself with bursts of mist, able to move fairly quickly but unable to change its direction easily. The Vanillite line, being made primarily of Ice, can easily manipulate ice and water, able to produce mists and fogs with great ease and summon up water or ice based attacks faster than others.

*Ice Pokémon are highly resistant to cold, and love fighting in it. However, they hate hot temperatures, and will not fight as well.

---------------------------

Cerberus

[Level 1 Male Houndour]
[Biography]
TBA

[Hidden Power]
Grass

*Houndour can see in the dark, and has sensitive hearing, at the expense of increased vulnerability to sound attacks. Much like the Growlithe family, while more reluctant to bond, they are fiercely loyal to those who earn their trust. Houndour and Houndoom have a unique language (composed of barks and howls) that only they understand. In events like the Grand Melee, trainers may order their Houndour or Houndoom to deliver a message in such a language. Only trainers with Houndour or Houndoom will be able to understand the message.

*Dark types can see in the dark. They prefer to fight at night, however light does not adversely affect them.

*Fire types love hot temperatures. Most can survive in hot liquids/molten lava for an extended period of time (indefinitely in the case of Magby, Magmar, Slugma and Magcargo). If a fire Pokémon has a flame somewhere on its body, it will take extra damage if a water attack hits the flame. Otherwise, fire Pokémon are not adversely affected by taking dips in bodies of water, so long as the time is short (except for the above 4 Pokémon, who will take damage the longer they are in the water). Instead of being automatically 2x weak to Water, they take 150% of the damage if hit on their bodies, but take 210+% if hit on open flames.

---------------------------

Zeus

[Level 1 Male Elekid]
[Biography]
TBA

[Hidden Power]
Ice

*An Elekid may take one turn to recharge half of its electrical energy. This can only be used once per match, and it must take a turn to recharging, in which no other moves may be ordered. Unlike Electabuzz, it does not react to the color red.

*Electric types, in general, prefer areas where their electric attacks are most accurate. Thus, while hot temperatures don’t bother them, the fact that heat refracts electricity doesn’t appeal to them.

---------------------------

Dionysus

[Level 2 Male Grovyle]
[Biography]
Dionysus was one of the first Pokemon I encountered on my journey, starting off as a scrawny Treecko. He was, to be quite honest, not very adept on the field of battle. This fact depressed him, and he resorted to alcoholic beverages as a way to deaden his sadness. I worked diligently with him, but not before the Alcohol influenced his mind. Upon evolving into Grovyle, Dionysus' will to fight was restored and, while he still greatly enjoys his cocktails, no longer heavily relies on booze to help him survive.

[Hidden Power]
Fire

[Signature Move: Alcohol Poisoning (Poison)]
Utilizing Poison energy, Dionysus vomits an incredibly foul-smelling concoction onto his opponent - a mixture of alcohol, Toxic Poison, and just plain gross bile. This mixture is effectively a powered up Toxic, starting the damage at a mild amount. The attack requires 1.5x the energy of a normal toxic, and can only be used once per match. Dionysus can no longer use Agility, Rest or Toxic, and is also more susceptible to all sleep or confusion inducing attacks.

*Thanks to the small hooks on their feet, Grovyle are able to scale most vertical walls. Grovyle cannot be intimidated easily, and are therefore more resistant to Fear-inducing attacks. When low in health, Grovyle's grass type attacks get a small boost in power.

*Grass types live anywhere that can support vegetation, though most prefer temperate to tropical climates. Grass types enjoy both bright sun and rain. Rainstorms will heal them slightly every round the rain falls.

---------------------------

Ares

[Level 1 Male Mankey]
[Biography]
TBA

[Hidden Power]
Psychic

*Mankey and Primeape interpret being stared in the eyes a challenge to their authority. Thus, any eye contact attacks an opponent uses will raise Mankey or Primeape's attack power and energy use for the next two rounds. During these two rounds, Mankey and Primeape will attack the one who did the staring incessantly, and will ignore any orders to attack something else.

*Fighting Pokémon train extensively, more than any other Pokémon type, which gives them slightly greater endurance and energy.

---------------------------

Boreas

[Level 1 Male Rufflet]
[Biography]
TBA

[Hidden Power]
Ground

*Rufflet is an extremely confident Pokémon and is difficult to intimidate or beguile. Attacks using fear or intimidating tactics are much less effective on Rufflet.

*Normal types can use the greatest variety of attacks in the league: they pay for this, however, by having less type energy. In the ASB, Normal types take 100% damage from Ghost type moves.

*Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation. When standing on the ground, they take 1x damage from Electric moves.

---------------------------

Dionysus, my friend, put down the damned beer and lock and load.

I release Obsidian so that he's already airborne.

"Keep to the air Obsidian, and keep our opponent pinned with Air Cutter x2 whenever you see him trying something!"

((If ref feels the orders are a bit too specific/complex lemme know and I'll change it))

Quickly create a tomb of rocks around yourself to block the first air cutter. If he uses his second air cutter, let it hit the rocks before sending the tomb flying at him with a rock slide. otherwise, go straight for the slide.

Round 1: The Beginening

Well, I would post species characteristics here, but both are in your squad posts, so go look there.

Both trainers step up to their respective spots, the ocean breeze blowing over the battle field. They toss their pokemon out at the same time, and with a *pop*, two figures appear on the battlefield. On Kings' side, we can see a sly and wily Grovyle, a species I am familiar with myself, though my Silvia is much quieter. On MC's side, Obsidian the Murkrow flaps in the air, already shooting the lax Grovyle a nasty look. Both trainers shout their orders, and the battle is off to a start!

Obsidian sees Dionysus tense up, so he slashes his wings wildly, forming a dozen blade-like pockets of air, made purely to cut and slash. They go zooming at the reptile, who slams his feet into the ground, forming a tepee of rocks around himself. The wind glances off the sides, doing little to the sone fortress. Both pokemon wait a little while longer, and after concluding that Obsidian isn't going to launch another air cutter, Dionysus does a cool ninja-kick thing, launching the rocks directly at the cursed Crow! Obsidian launches another Air Cutter at the same time, though the rocks block a bit of the attack. Both assaults make their mark, Dionysus throwing up his hands in protection, and Obsidian doing his best to avoid the rocks. In the end, Obsidian ends up with his foot caught under a boulder, though with a little pushing he might get it off.

Both pokemon took a similar amount of damage, with Obsidian taking slightly more. On the other hand, Obsidian used a bit less energy than Dionysus did. Dionysus is out of rock energy.

So Obsidian was knocked out of the sky by the boulder, and it landed back on him such that he got his leg stuck under it..? How are you proposing that worked?]

Sorry for bad description. It took multiple boulders to knock Obsidian out of the sky. Once he was on the ground, a boulder came towards him, he went to move out of the way, and only his foot got caught under it. The rest of him is free though, so with a little push and shove he could get out.

As soon as you get a clear shot Confuse Ray, then try to pull or push yourself out from under the boulder.

((I'm assuming that escaping the boulder counts as a move))

Round 2: Breaking free

Grovyle begins, inhaling deeply, then exhaling forcefully, sparking a flame in his mouth that streams towards Obsidian. This isn't any old flame though, but one of a dragon. Obsidian at the same time launches a light of his own, the two attacks passing through each other in a dazzling show of sparks and glows. They hit their marks, leaving Dionysus thoroughly confused, and Obsidian feeling hurt. With Dionysus occupied, Obsidian squirms free of the boulder, taking to the air again.

Obsidian took the only damage, pushing him ever closer to the outer reaches of the first quarter of health. His energy use was minimal, which is great for him. Dionysus used half of his dragon energy, and is fine for energy as well. He's pretty confused.

Alrighty, whip up a Twister then stay nice and high. If an attack comes your way, Fly around it and in for the strike.

Looks like we'll have to eat that twister, bud. Once it's done, swords dance then grasswhistle.

Round 3: Spinning on and on

Obsidian lets out a caw as he takes to the air, very happy to be free again. And he's more than happy to get payback on Dionysus too. The crow flaps his wings powerfully, whipping up a small cyclone of air. It tears its way towards the grass type, picking up loose sand along the way. It buffets Dionysus, who throws up his arms in an attempt to lessen the damage. All it does is keep the sand out of his eyes, which is helpful. Oh, and the confusion is knocked right out of Grovyle. After Dionysus is done being thrown back, he begins spinning again. This time, he's amping up his physical prowess, sharp swords materializing around him. The wind from this attack blows back some sand too, though it's not anything worth noting. As the Grovyle slows down, he grabs a small piece of grass, and begins to play the harmonic and natural sound of a grasswhistle. The soothing and calming sound makes its way to Obsidian, causing the small bird to settle on the ground, asleep. And so the round ends.

Obsidian didn't take any damage, and his energy use was fine, since it was a one mover. He's asleep, which will give him another unneeded break.

Dionysus took a ton of damage, now dropping near Obsidian in terms of health, if not a little bit past that. His energy use was also below average for a two mover, so he can continue on. He has a swords dance boost.

I've decided I'm going to forfeit this match, for a combination of personal reasons and the fact I'm going to be way too busy to order starting tomorrow and feel dedicating the time I have to my reffing is more important.

Thanks for reffing redpanda15, and battling kingothestone :V

Call it a cancellation, then. Pity, since This was shaping up to be a good match.

Thanks for reffing, red.
