Scolipede UPN PASBL: Gym Trainer Match- Sneezy12 versus yougirasu

Welcome to the Ground Zero Gym! I am sorry, this is not a Gym Match. But, this is a match that is vitally important to the Gym itself. Today, we are witnessing a match between two pretty good battlers. On the defense is Sneezy12, the Poison type GT who wanted to Ghost, and who once defended the Ice. He is now using the powerful Poison type in battle. He is facing yougirasu, a returning trainer who seems to be pretty decent. I haven't really seen a match of his yet, however.

Ground Zero Gym
Spoiler: show
Ground Zero Gym: The Ground Zero Gym Arena is a square area of 40 metres on each side -- specifically, it's a square block of reinforced concrete measuring 28 metres on each side and of three metres in height, sitting in a moat of sewage which is two metres deep, so a metre's height of concrete is exposed for battle.
On the concrete block lies four reactormajiggers linked by effluent pipe. The reactormajiggers are about three metres high and two metres in diameter, and the pipes about a metre in diameter. The reactormajiggers are indestructible, and the pipes will only break if they're hit by attacks as strong as Hyper Beam, in which sewage will spill out for two rounds until the self-regeneration technology fixes it. The reactormajiggers constantly belch out a combinations of poison gases which will float into the atmosphere, poisoning any Pokemon that stays airborne at heights of about five metres if they stay for over a round. However, as a result of the constant release of gases, the clouds above the gym have been severely affected by the poison. As a result, acid rain will have a 30% chance of falling onto the arena at the end of a round, lasting for four rounds, which will have one of the three following effects due to the cocktail of poisons within:
- A corrosive poison strong enough to make Rock and Ground-types feel more uncomfortable in the rain due to the strengthened acid, unless they're part Poison-type themselves. All Poison-types will be unaffected by this poison.
- Narcotic poisons in the acid rain will make Pokemon using Psychic-type moves feel more drained.
- A specific toxin targeted at the DNA structure of Steel-type Pokemon will make them uncomfortable as well.
Due to environmental concerns even the gym can't overwrite, the usage of Rain Dance is disallowed. However, using Sunny Day will not have the effect of breaking the acid rain spell.
However, at the end of each round, the reactormajiggers do have a 1 in 100 chance of falling out, in which a huge explosion will happen. The reactormajiggers will be destroyed without a trace, as well as their pipes, and all Pokemon on the field will faint (including Sector Shadow operatives). When this happens, the poison gas and acid rain effects will not be in play for the battle's remainder.

I am not sure what Switch=Gym means(does it mean that only Sneezy can switch?), but everything else is pretty kosher. Sneezy is using his Gym Leader's arena for this battle.

You guys know who it goes dow, so, I am going to need to see a squad from Sneezy to start us off.

Scolipede Scolipede sez: THE TRAIN IS COMING. CHOO CHOO.

Good luck, yougi. Thanks for picking this up, blaze.

Virendra: Female Haunter (level 3)
Biography: Virendra was once a warlord, victor of countless battles, and known to defeat her opponents with her bare hands if she needed to. Her death was a swift and unjust one, ambushed as she was attending a duel, and slaughtered mercilessly, though not without a fight. It is because of this she cannot stand unsporting tactics, and will not even change out of solid form, always apting for a fair fight. Virenda is white, and her eyes are entirely light blue, as is the inside of her mouth.
Special Training: For Glory
Virendra cannot use Sucker Punch, Disable, Spite, Trick, Toxic, Venoshock, Taunt, Torment, Swagger, Thief, or Snatch, as she considers them unsporting. Virendra will not change out of solid form at any time. Virendra cannot evolve, but is considered fully evolved from the standpoint of energy and health levels. Virendra also gains Rock Smash, Brick Break, Dynamic Punch, and Focus Punch, being used to fighting with her bare hands, and has as much Fighting energy as a Water type would have Ice energy.

Creed: Male Haunter (level 3)
Biography: Creed is the most underhanded thing in existance, I'm pretty sure. He spends most of his time training to perfect the ways of dirty fighting. Obviously this means that he had to up his Dark movepool a bit since most dirty tricks fall into such an energy type.
Special Training: Underhanded
Creed is now familiar with Dark energy.

Dante: Male Zubat (level 3)
Biography: Dante has trained himself incredibly well to move about whilst using his echolocation, allowing himself to begin training himself to perform much more complicated manuevers more easily. He realizes, however that upon evolution he would have to retrain himself to perform complicated actions, due to his new size, and, more importantly, his new eyes, and as such, absolutely refuses to evolve at any given point. Because of this he has also trained himself to attempt to be as tough and energetic as possible, so as not to miss out on the bonuses towards stamina and energy that he would normally have gotten through evolution.
Special Training: Crobat, I think not
Dante's natural agility is about 1.5x that of the average Zubat, thanks to his extensive training. Dante absolutely refuses to evolve at any given point, and as such, cannot be evolved to bring into battle as a Golbat or Crobat. However, due to stamina and energy training, Dante is considered fully evolved when it comes to health and energy levels.

The Watcher In The Water: Female Tentacruel (level 3)
Biography: The Watcher In The Water once guarded the lake outside of dwarven ruins that were long since dead. Then some complete jerks tried to kill her just because she wanted to give them a hug. What's so bad about hugs?
Special Training: HUUUUUUUUGS...
The Watcher In The Water's ability to hold things with her tentacles is roughly twice as strong as that of others of her species. This does not effect damage done by any constraining moves, however.

Shelob: Female Ariados (level 3)
Biography: Shelob is the queen of her kind. The longest living spider there is. This is probably because she'll eat almost anything. Prefering to suck out her prey's insides first, and owing to her long life so far, her ability to drain is a bit different than the norm.
Special Training: Life Sucker
Shelob's draining moves take longer to be effected by diminishing returns. This means that she can pull off one extra draining move prior to diminishing return kicking in.

Behemecoatyl: Female Scolipede (level 3)
Biography: Behemecoatyl is a bug that rolls into a ball. She is obviously able to tighten these muscles.
Special Training: GameFreak is on crack
Behemecoatyl can use Coil.

The challenger approached the industrialised arena, as prepared for battle as he would ever be, carrying 6 carefully polished Pokeballs on his belt. He stood tall as he reached his position on the field, his fast stride moving him into place in a short space of time, his coat covered with a healthy coating of earth. He looked up to see the gym trainer across the other side of the fourty metre arena and called out to him,
"Best of luck to you Sneezey, let's do this." And with that, he showed off the six pokemon he'd brought with him to fight for his chance to face the gym leader.

Shake the Octillery,
Level 3, Male.
Caught as a fresh faced Remoraid with a lot to prove and little time to do so, Shake sought to not only fit in with the group but also to stand out as a battler as well. He faced stiff competition in battles facing up against the likes of a Kabutops and coming out with a smile, sort of, on his face. His shining moment was in his evolution though. Being no longer limited to areas that had large volumes of water to allow him to move around he had greater access to battles and ample opportunities to prove his value. He's looking for the greater challenges that are to come and his own fresh move to mix things up.

Sig in the works.

~~~~~~~~~~
Grimer,
Level 2, Male.
Grimer was obtained through a trade from a far off, distant location known as Almia where he'd terrorised a sewer with other poison typed pokemon. Although the trade itself was fair, the trainer who sent Grimer over to Yougi seemed to have an odd sense of humour that caused him to have to work hard to have Grimer forget the name he'd been referred to for so long.
Eventually though, Grimer became Grimer instead of Rangeet-go-Boom! and quickly slotted into Yougi's team. The effects of the people he met in Almia shone clearly in Grimers personality as he is very friendly and quite caring (although everyone has to be careful to keep him away from plant life and other such living organisms).
With unknown potential and a fresh set of moves, it's unknown how fruitful Grimers future will be but hard work will have to be done to get the best of the young, slimy pokemon.
Special Attack: Toxic Rave.By imitating Shadow Rave, Grimer created his own version of the move. To utilize the move, he sends a wave of Poison energy into the ground towards where the opponent stands. The energy then quickly bursts out as three barb-like spikes that are usually spread around the opponent dealing heavy damage and having a high (50%) chance of dealing full damage, regardless of defensive boosts. The attack itself takes a fair amount of concentration when sending the energy through the ground and uses high energy.The barb-like spikes can only reach a maximum of 2 meters in height, meaning that the opponent will need to be fairly close to the ground to be struck.
Grimer: (Poison) These Pokemon are made up of poisonous substances made of liquid slime. Thus, toxic or polluted chemicals heal them instead of harm them. The same is true for poison attacks. Grimer cannot see in complete darkness, though they see better than most in low light. They are also very flexible, and can fit through gaps that most pokemon of their size couldn't. Their bodies absorb physical blows, and physical projectiles, making all attacks in these manners 85% effective. However, as the slime is liquidized, they take slightly more damage from electric attacks.
~~~~~~~~~~

Shania the Pikachu
Level 1, Female.

Shania joined the team when Yougi decided that he'd like to add an electric pokemon to his group. However, the options that he had were severely limited considering he wanted someone he could rely on to battle as freely as other members like Absol. Eventually, he settled on picking up a Raichu to join the party which is where Shania came in. Since he couldn't just pick up a Raichu, like he wished he could, he had to go out and find a Pikachu. The fact that Shania was a Pikachu put strain on the relationship they shared. She often felt like he was distant and uncaring when he was actually just avoiding taking out his frustrations on a species that he didn't like. Not knowing this, Shania worked her hardest to prove to him that she wasn't a Pikachu, she was something better, something that he might like. Whilst she was working on this, Yougi was out searching for a Thunderstone for her, to allow her to evolve and the two of them to bond. He tried to tell her that this was the highest thing on his list of priorities, but whenever he did, she was always intent on showing what she'd been working on instead. This made things hard for them both because Yougi wanted her to know that he cared about her, just not for Pikachu's but she was too busy to listen.
Eventually, in her training, Shania simply grew frustrated with things and wished she could just cry out that she wasn't a Pikachu. This, with some creativity and some advice from others in the team, grew into an emotionally fueled attack that she could use. She just didn't really know how to hold back once she starts.

Sig in the works.

~~~~~~~~~~
Maya the Houndour
Level 1, Female.
Maya is a very playful pup who originated from near the Mayan ruins, making her name rather unoriginal. She's a huge fan of soaking up the suns rays, but when she's not she likes to try and help everyone out by adding a little fire to whatever they're trying to do. This rarely works out well for her, often ending up with everyone getting annoyed at her for causing another fire. She's a complete softy though, who just acts immature and impulsively, so she's often forgiven quite quickly. People often joke that if she knew how to use that charm properly then she'd be able to start or stop wars at will. But these comments seem to go over her head. She also gained the separate nickname of 'fire-bug', especially when compared with Growlithe, since she's managed to set fire to curtains, beds, chairs, tables, furniture in general and even the stove, although nobody is quite sure how. She has an obsession with the supernatural, making her John Piano's worst enemy despite the fact that he can beat her in a battle. But she loves tales involving magic as well as videos, pictures, games, generally anything that's got something magical portrayed in it.
With her childish creativity, Maya went slightly overboard in her battles, creating new techniques on the fly before discarding them with the same level of impulsiveness that created them. Very few made it to a second attempt, let alone a third or fourth. But one move became her favourite because of how strange it was in general, which was, of course, why she liked it over all the others. Because it was just so unexplainable to her.
Sig in the works.
~~~~~~~~~~

Quagsire
Level 2, Male.

Calm, collected, consistant and dim, what more do you need to describe him? Okay then, he likes to spend his days lounging by rivers, knocking berries and fruit out of trees and bushes with his water attacks when he gets hungry. His laid back attitude flows into battling but doesn't seem to hinder his speed or desire to beat the opponent, rather it's used to lull them into a false sense of security before he comes in for a power attack.

Sig in the works.

~~~~~~~~~~
Sparkles the Misdreavus
Level 2, Female.
Sparkles is the life and soul of the party, brightening the mood no matter what. She's light hearted, fun loving and generally carefree. This wasn't always the case for her though. In the forest that she grew up in, her boisterous nature was frowned upon and caused a lot of trouble for the pokemon around her. This was mostly from her enjoyment in shocking anyone around her when bored. To her, it was always a joke but other didn't see it the same way. To them, it was something more painful and dangerous, especially when it was done in the middle of summer when the area was bone dry. There were several times when the pokemon she was aiming for would avoid the attack, only to have it spark a forest fire instead. They would often be put out by nearby water types, but the problem grew until Sparkles fled the forest, unhappy with the way everyone was acting towards her. Nobody really know how long she wandered alone, with nobody to lift her spirits, but she eventually found a home in Yougi's team where she could playfully shock people and they'd laugh it off and get treated for any pain they'd feel. Hearing Yougi tell her how 'shocking' her surprise zaps were really tickled her and set her in a great mood for the rest of the day.
Her playful mood made her hard to battle with as she treated it more like a game than a battle. She was difficult to train, but as he did, Yougi realized that Sparkles had quite the talent for electrical attacks. Being a Misdreavus gave her access to a great number of electrical moves, far more than she really needed and her energy seemed almost boundless. Yougi decided to help her capitalize on this in the only way he knew she'd respond to, games. So they'd play together as he built up Sparkles capabilities with electric type moves and helped her to ignore some of the moves that he felt she didn't need. In time, she even built up her own static charge that manifested itself as a pale glow around her.
Sig in the works.
With his team out for criticism and no going back, he quickly yet carefully selected his first pokemon and threw the ball out into the arena.
"Grimer, come on out and mix things up for our opponent." Yougi called out as he brought out his living purple ooze, hoping to start things off unpredictably.
Interesting squad... more interesting choice.
"Creed, wreak havoc. Keep your distance and pop your foe with a ranged Shadow Punch. Secret Power afterwards."
Yougi couldn't help but smirk as he noticed his opponent was intrigued by his choices and the Pokemon he had selected to open with. Still, as an intimidating Haunter appeared on the field to join Grimer and orders were called out to it, he couldn't help but wonder if he'd made the right choice. He'd gone for a more 'even' match-up when deciding who to start with, but Grimers movepool made him realize something he hadn't before. Regardless of what he was thinking, he had to give orders to do battle with his floating foe,
"Grimer, let's get things going. Not sure how those punches will fare against you, but send a Flamethrower right at that Haunter as quickly as you can. Then do the same with a Secret Power, to be original."
Round 1: Blaze had time to do this!
The confident challenger Yougi comes to the plate, and with the heart of the cards strength and the determination of his pick of Pokemon, he challenges Sneezy to a battle, who is quite surprised by his squad, and his first choice, a Grimer. The slimy and sludge-like Pokemon feels quite at home in this environment, and should pose quite a problem to Sneezy being immune to Toxic and actually absorbs Poison type moves, though I think I will ref it at a 25% health restoration since otherwise it could be a little broken. Sneezy's response is Creed, a Haunter and we all saw this coming because Sneezy likes to use it in every match he has.
Quote:
Grimer (Poison): These Pokémon are made up of poisonous substances made of liquid slime. Thus, toxic or polluted chemicals heal them instead of harm them. The same is true for poison attacks. Grimer cannot see in complete darkness, though they see better than most in low light. They are also very flexible, and can fit through gaps that most Pokémon of their size couldn't. Their bodies absorb physical blows, and physical projectiles, making all attacks in these manners 85% effective. However, as the slime is liquidized, they take slightly more damage from electric attacks.
[Poison]: If not completely immune, poison types are highly resistant to poisoning.
Haunter (Ghost/Poison): Haunter, while more solid than its preevolution and able to solidify, is composed primarily of gas, and prefers Gaseous or Ethereal over Solid. Haunter's hands can move independently of it and can move with agility and decent speed. They are able to pass through solid objects even when Haunter is Solid or Gaseous, with somewhat more freedom to pass through objects than Haunter itself, allowing them to pass through thicker walls or other objects. All ghosts fight more enthusiastically at night, though light does not hinder their ability to battle. Haunter’s Lick attack has a 50% chance to paralyze, instead of the usual 30%. Haunter can see in the dark.
[Ghost]: See the ghost Pokémon rules and individual Pokémon listing.
[Poison]: If not completely immune, poison types are highly resistant to poisoning.
Creed starts the match off, having the initiative and stuff like that, and one of his fists becomes covered in Ghostly energy, before Creed swings his fist at his opponent. But, there is a twist here! The attack actually comes out as a ranged blast of energy, being shaped like a Haunter's fist. The attack slams Grimer in the face, but his body being kinda like pudding is able to absorb some of the momentum of the blow, reducing the damage but not by a whole lot. Grimer retaliates, and breathes in a moment collecting some of that toxic and most likely flammable in very small quantities goo as a vapor, and breathes out a massive pillar of flames. The flames strike Haunter head on, he being able to switch to solid before the attack hit, and he is pushed back a bit by the flames, taking a nice hit in damage.
Haunter then becomes covered in an aura of energy that is colored quite he bright pink. This aura is quite the secret however, as it is filled with powders and energies that can cause some pretty nasty statuses on the opponent. i know how fucking annoying this attack can be, having trained against Audino for like the past seven hours and being at the mercy of a 30% sleep chance and having like it crit seven times and sleep all at the same time. It is really freaking annoying. But, anyways, the aura condenses into a small ball of energy in front of Creed, and he launches the ball of energy, which slams into Grimer, doing some nice damage. But, no status occurs. Grimer than does the same thing, making the same aura of energy and condensing it into the same ball of energy. Sure, the powders and energies might not be exactly the same, but let's face it, there is nothing secret about it. It is the same attack for every Pokemon that gets it. Anyways, the orb is launched at Creed, who again goes solid to take the hit. He gets statused...but it is actually poison so he gets nothing from that attack.
Condition:
Creed took a little more damage than Grimer from this round, hanging just a little bit under the 3/4 mark. Energy use was a little heavy, but not bad at all.
Grimer took a nice shot of damage, but is a little bit away from the 3/4 mark. Energy use was a little bit more than Creed, but not too much.
As Yougi looked on as the round unfolded, he wondered if his opponent had overlooked some aspects of things. Fortunately, this played right into Yougi's hands and Grimer had come out on top, so far. He wanted to keep things going, but although he had ideas forming in his head, none were viable at this point in the match. With things the way they were, he decided to be excessively creative... Or not as the case turned out and he called out his orders to Grimer.
"Grimer, let's recycle something that worked for us just now. Open up with another Secret Power to see how things turn out and follow it up with a Flamethrower, or as much of one as you might be capable of."
Round 2: Apologies for not being able to do this earlier....
I would have had this reffed, but there was no internet at my house(the cable was transferred downstairs and it is a big story that none of you want to hear), and the battery in my laptop went and won't take a charge. But it was six years old so I guess that happens. I have some time now at school, so I will ref this.
Grimer starts off the match by covering himself in a bright pink aura, and I believe that I have reffed this aura-like attack in another reffing before. One moment please....*rummages through shit, with loud noises and sirens blaring out*. Ah, here it is.
Quote:
Oh wait....this is a Grimer. >.> I might have another around here somewhere....... AHA!
Quote:
Grimer than does the same thing, making the same aura of energy and condensing it into the same ball of energy. Sure, the powders and energies might not be exactly the same, but let's face it, there is nothing secret about it. It is the same attack for every Pokemon that gets it.
And that turned out to be less epic than the one I posted before. I am going to cry in a corner for a little while.
Anyways, as the Secret Power gets charged, Creed primes up his mental facilities as he concentrates energy inside of his brain, ready to unleash a mental/psychic attack at Grimer. The attacks are launched at the same time, and the attacks collide midway, a little closer to Creed, and they pass through each other, reducing their power a little bit.
Quote:
Grimer retaliates, and breathes in a moment collecting some of that toxic and most likely flammable in very small quantities goo as a vapor, and breathes out a massive pillar of flames. The flames strike Haunter head on, he being able to switch to solid before the attack hit, and he is pushed back a bit by the flames, taking a nice hit in damage.
But it is not very powerful because not a lot of Fire energy was left. A good amount, but not enough for a full Flamethrower. Creed then sparks with electricity, a lot of electricity, and releases it in a massive bolt, which slams into Grimer. It only does 10% more damage(that is how I ref slightly), but it does make a little difference.
Condition:
Grimer is a good bit under half on health. Energy is about the same under 3/4. Going to need a break. Fire is gone.
Creed is doing better on energy than Grimer, about half. Energy use was a lot higher though, definitely going to need a break, more than Grimer. Electric is poot. That is all you will get out of it. An electric poot. Health is at a little over half.
Sneezy?
Because it seemed right.
I've had a Scald and an Ice Beam explode. This does not seem nearly as bad.
*facepalm* Physics are a thing and animesplosions are bad. If their not a volatile attack, they probably shouldn't be exploding, especially if one of them is an aura filled with powders, which a common counter to is just to blow it back at the user.
Sorry about the delay Sneezey, as I mentioned in the TO (not that it's any excuse), I looked things up for my orders before promptly forgetting to order. I then caught a bug (I call it a bug because it only lasted 3 days, but left me feeling carp for a couple more. I've now passed it on to everyone in the house who are now suffering from colds) and didn't feel up to things, but I'm here now.
Looking on, things were starting to turn sour for Yougi, with Grimers attacks being thwarted as much as possible. Still, he felt that both Grimer and himself needed to hang in there. 'Every good idea comes with a few rough patches' he thought as he took in his opponents orders and formulated a plan around the plan. Both pokemon were tired, Creed moreso than Grimer, but he couldn't rely on outspeeding anything. So Grimer was going to have to deal with a rough start to turn the next round or two in their favour.
"This is going to be tough Grimer, but I'm sure you can take it." He called out. "Let him send the punch right at you, then cover your eyes to avoid the Confuse Ray. Follow it up with a nice, clean Zap Cannon.
He just really hoped that he still understood the research he'd made before ordering.
Round 3: I am a serious bum, aren't I?
It seems that the ref for this match has not been seen for a while now. Normally a match like this would have actually progressed if the ref was regularly here, but he would disappear for the week so that he would go to school, and on the weekends tried to relax some as it was the few days off that he truly had. Not to mention that he had just been slammed with a snowstorm that had made it impossible to reach the Internet at all for an entire week. So, such an absence, while not appreciated, was at least covered up in the realm where it made some sort of sense. He knew that he still had an obligation to this match, and barely came today. Wearing an old, ragged T-shirt and some pajama pants, he certainly did not look the part of a ref. But, he was certified to do so.
"Creed is the first one to start us off this round, and he charges up a fist with some ghost like energy that is truly terrifying. Well, maybe not terrifying, but I would probably rate this attack as having C- power at best. Probably not much to worry about, but it will still do so damage. Creed swings his fist through the air, and a ghostly mirage of a fist flies through the air towards Grimer. If this was the games, this attack would always hit no matter what trickery was used to fool the target, but it doesn't matter anyways since Grimer was forced to take the attack anyways. The attack hits his soft body, doing some damage to him but not all to much. They both look somewhat tired, before Grimer raises his hand into the air. Bolts of electricity charge in his hand and forms a ball of energy that crackles and sparks wildly, being charged to the absolute limit of electrical power. The ball of electricity is fired at Creed, who is pretty tired. The ball is slow-moving though, so Creed is able to dodge about half of the blow. However, that half is pretty paralyzing even in that short amount, and Creed finds himself pretty paralyzed on his right side.
Creed then tries to perform a Confuse Ray attack, but the paralysis is keeping him from forming a lot of energy, and the attack only comes out half-assed. Grimer closes his eyes to the effects of the attack, and comes out with an unscathed mind.
Condition:
Grimer took some damage this round, and is a little bit over the final quarter. Care is going to be needed to win this match. Energy use was a little high for a one-mover, and Electric energy is low, but the break helped, and Grimer is coming in on the half mark.
Creed took a good shot of damage this round as well, and is a little bit over Grimer. His energy took another drop, but having used only a little bit of energy helps. He is a little lower than Grimer, and will be only a little fatigued going into the next round. He is paralyzed, but the effects are slightly reduced because of his Ghost typing and it really should not be a problem in the long-term.
Yougi?
Yougi felt that things were getting really tense now, despite both sides still being on their first pokemon. They were closing in on that first KO that could help swing the match in favour of either trainer. With Grimer having avoided confusion and Creed having been partially struck by the Zap Canon, Yougi was determining if it was better to go full offensive and try to seal the deal this round of if he should play it safe and try to push it into a further round. But with the movepool available, he wasn't sure of the best way to do either. Still, at a push, he had to do something. With Creed paralyzed, but not fully, he decided to settle for a little attack and a little defence.
"Grimer, let's see how Creed reacts to yet another Secret Power (I'm low on ideas with not knowing ghost states to well, okay). Then, if it throws an attack your way use Protect. If it decides to take it easy, just catch your breath. You're likely to need every last bit of it."
Round 4: Ever hear that the RNG hates you?
This battle has sure been an interesting one. Two Poison type Pokemon battle it out in the Ground Zero Gym. The match's stakes is a chance for a guaranteed spot on the queue, in fact, the next available match against Shadowshocker. Yougi looks to win this with his Grimer, who so far has been on the receiving end of the punishment in the last few rounds. Sneezy, the Gym Trainer, has been on top with his Haunter, but this is still anyone's game at this point, and as this round will show, a little bad luck can change everything.
Grimer's body begins to glow a brilliant pink color, and this aura of energies and powders is a move that is recognized by all and a move that I have probably described before in this very match. This is the great move Secret Power, a move that is found on nearly every Pokemon bar the random Gen V Pokemon, and it is probably the most used move in the league by now. The aura condenses in front of Grimer's hand, and flies off. At the same time, Haunter begins to channel up a powerful wind that is full of an ominous feeling...this wind has had appearances in movies like Final Destination and other such movies as the Ominous Wind. However, that remnant from the last round comes to plague Haunter, and the paralysis locks up his body and energy circuits, making it impossible to attack at all. Bad luck Sneezy, but the RNG is in a bad mood nowadays. The Secret Power hits right on its mark, and deals a sizable chunk of damage, but thankfully Haunter was already in physical form after the Zap Cannon. No extra status are inflicted.
Grimer plays the waiting game then, and as one man might have said at one points, "The best offense is actually not just an offense or a defense. It is a delicate balance between the two." Yeah no one probably said that, but it works in this case, Grimer waiting for a move that he is supposed to protect from. Haunter overcomes his paralysis, and floats into the air while releasing a Smog of toxic gases below him, covering him and camouflaging him from normal vision. The attack does reach Grimer, but it is nothing to fear. Even Grimer knows what kind of attack this is, and doesn't bother protecting it at all. He is healed a little bit by it...and by a little bit I mean yeah it really isn't healing much at all.
Condition:
Grimer took no damage, and is actually healed a little bit by the Smog, but it isn't going to make a difference at all. It got a nice break, and is doing fine on energy.
Creed is looking at the final quarter of his health. He can take a medium sized hit, but larger ones will probably knock him out. He got a really nice break with that forced one mover, and is camoed at the moment.
Sneezy?
Thinking back, the last round had been good to Grimer, providing him with something of a break. The attack he'd provided had been standard, especially for the battle. Grimers lack of moves to face Ghost types with had made things trickier than Yougi would have liked, but with things the way they were now, he felt like he could end things on a plus rather than the way he'd first intended. Still, with a volatile smog surrounding Grimer like a gaseous Trojan horse, he would be limited to just one offensive move this round. And he had just the move saved for this occasion.
"Grimer, throw up a Protect as soon as you can." He called out, adding; 'It doesn't matter which assault it blocks, I'm sure you can take either one comfortably." To add some comfort behind the rushed defence. "Then follow it up with a Shadow Ball when you've got an opening."
Round 5: Time to light.
Everything in the arena seems set now. Both combatants are nearing the critical ranges of health, energy is being used up, and soon, this will be one man's victory. With me right now is Bouncer, my Rhyhorn. How are you doing Bouncer?
Bouncer: ...
It's okay buddy old pal, you don't have to open up if you don't want to. Anyways, there is a think smog covering the arena, covering both the Haunter and the Grimer, the Haunter not as much so. Haunter, having been given a might nice break the last round, quickly opens things up by launching a blue wisp of fire. This attack is normally called a Will-O-Wisp, but today, it is the Smaller-Part-To-A-Larger....BOOOOOM!!! That is what I can hear now folks, and wow what an explosion! The firey Will-O-Wisp wasn't meant to hurt Grimer, but actually, it was meant to cause a massive explosion, igniting the toxic chemicals in the smog! I can't see very well folks because of all the smoke, but it seems that the quickness of the explosion plus the disguise of the fog made it so Grimer could not protect the attack. He looks very beaten up, but, fortunately is not out of the game yet, still waiting to protect an attack he can see. Haunter goes again with the fiery attacks, launching a fist of burning fury towards Grimer. Grimer recognizes this attack, and puts up a protective green bubble over himself, taking the attack with aplomb as the fiery first does little to the shield, Haunter retracting the fist with a little bit of indignation. Grimer takes the opportunity to ready himself a ball of ghostly energy, a black ball that looks like it is condensing on itself. The ball is launched at Haunter, who manages a slight dodge, but it is not enough, and he take the shadow ball hard, falling to the ground. This was a close one folks, but it seems it was not close enough!
Creed is unable to battle! Sneezy, another Pokemon please!
Condition:
Grimer is running on very low health, and most decent powered attacks will finish him off. Energy use was high, but it isn't too important at the moment. Ghost energy took a hit.
Yougi was initially disappointed with the way the round had played out before him. He'd deeply hoped that Grimer would have had the protect up in time to avoid the Will-o-Wisp, but that hadn't been the case. It didn't sadden him though, it just meant that Grimer had ended up with a little less health than he'd been hoping for. Now, he was faced with a Pokemon named Behemecoatyl, a Scolipede with an intimidating record. Yougi had heard about it sweeping through an opposing pokemon with ease and was now looking over at it, knowing what moves it was ready to use. But his mind worked in mysterious ways currently and, hoping he understood the attack, he called out his orders.
"You've done well Grimer, but it looks like you'll be getting some rest soon. Still, finish things up by mirroring his Round. I don't think you'll get more than one off, but try another if you've still got the strength to stand."
Round 6: No Yougi, I am a horrible person.
Why is it that the simplest rounds to ref are the ones I always take the most time on? I personally do not understand it myself.
Anyways, after recalling the fallen Haunter, Creed, Sneezey grabs another Pokeball from his pouch, throwing it into the arena to release Behemecoatyl. I want to know where this name came from. Anyways, its a Scoliopede. Which is pretty cool.
Quote:
Scoliopede: (Bug/Poison) The arm-like extensions on its neck are actually spines that seep poison. Physical attacks used with or that hit these spines have a chance of causing light poisoning (about 10%, does not stack with any poison chance in a move). Thanks to the adaptation of its preevo, its poison also has a 5% chance of localized paralysis.
That is actually a really badass SC.
Behemecoatyl starts off by bellowing a really loud Round of singing, which is quite frankly terrible and Behemecoatyl should never ever decide to pursue a career in singing. Grimer tries to retaliate and give his own Round of singing, but it does no good. The horrible singing from the giant centipede hits first, and Grimer is out for the count.
Grimer is unable to battle!
Condition:
Behemecoatyl is perfect on health, and near perfect on energy.
Yougi?
