Beginner Trainer Battle: Itzatrap vs. Gemini Spark
TheMansion creaked eerily and the gates blew open from a strong wind gushing from within. Two visitors were coming and it was pleased. Two new guests were arriving at it was ready for them. The two trainers in question had made it up the long winding road with their nerves on edge and as the Mansion stood before them, shadows playing across the windows making it look like life was within they shudder with fear. They slowly make their way in thankful that they were not going to be entering the building but the grounds were just as frightening. The long grasses of the forgotten garden beckoned them in with whistles as the wind blew between them. They appeared to sway back and forth teasingly and almost in a trance they enter the unknown. Suddenly a pair of serious green eyes meet them nearly making them jump out of their skin. The Spiritomb narrows his gaze and floating off knowing that the two would follow him. They came to a break in the grasses where the arena was and the Spiritomb floated over to his trainer mumbling something before hovering by her side looking unimpressed.
"Well hello. I've been hoping to have visitors here for a long while and I'm so glad you both came. The residents have been eagerly awaiting your arrival, they look forward to the battle. The bloodier the better but we must follow the rules so here they are" Itzatrap vs. Gemini SparkShe allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned Itzatrap to Heads and Gemini Spark to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Heads". Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play: – I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round (I am happy with up to 3 being used per round)“I put a spell on you ’cause you’re mine You better stop the things you do I ain’t lyin’ No I ain’t lyin’” |

"Begin" ... and it was on. Leila was the faster of the two and begins by Taunting Melantha incensing her with abrasive words. The Absol is more than happy to go on the offensive and charges forward her scythe glowing and slams into Leila with her Feint. Leila shakes off the mild discomfort and Leers at the Absol who is too pissed off to notice, in fact she was already preparing her next attack. Her dark blue scythe glowed a light green and she yelled as she lowered her head and thrust her Megahorn into Leila's abdomen shoving her right into the long grasses eliciting a scream of pain as she disappeared within. Melantha paces restlessly as she waits for Leila to reappear. The grasses rustle and Leila leaps out raking her claw along Melantha's side with a Scratch that makes the doom bringer wince. She leaps back and disppears again before slamming into Leila once more with yet another Faint Attack and both Pokemon finish glaring at one another with Melantha feeling a little more herself now the taunt had wore off. Alrighty, Melantha, use Faint Attack three more times. Use the environment to your advantage to make them as stealthy as possible!

Leila's Taunt worked a little too well since Melantha was all too happy to lure Leila into a Feint and ram into her. Leila's Leer didn't deter Melantha either as she jabbed the Sneasel with a Megahorn. Leila finally did some damage with a Scratch attack, but Melantha tricked her again and landed a Faint Attack. This was going to be a cat fight for sure!
"Hey Leila, since Melantha's trying to trick you, follow her with Pursuit! Then give her a couple of Ice Punches to cool her down!" |

Round 2
Melentha is the first to break the eye contact and dives into the grasses disappearing from sight and reappearing next to Leila with another diving Faint Attack. Leila goes tumbling backwards her arms free-wheeling but she stays on her feet. Melentha gives her a quick grin and disappears from view again but this time Leila is quick to follow a black aura surrounding her. As Melentha moves in the shadows she feels Leila in hot Pursuit of her. She turns around and both crash into the other with their respective attacks.
Both make it back to their feet and Leila leaps forward before Melentha can disappear again and strikes her in the chest with a quickly timed Ice Punch. Melentha winces and shivers against the cold but fortunately she doesn't get frozen. She leaps away once more but suddenly a shriek fills the air and she reappears covered in a fine green powder. A little Shroomish with a scar down its face pops out to grin at its hand work before bouncing away. Melentha yawns as the Sleep Powder begins to take effect. Leila grins at her good fortune and charges at the downed Absol striking with another Ice Punch just as she falls asleep the pain not enough to wake her. Leila may have been tricked again by Melantha's Faint Attack, but she wasn't going to let the same trick work a third time, so she Pursues the Absol until Melantha was forced to turn around and attack back, resulting in the two Dark-types colliding into each other. Then Leila formed some Ice into her fist and was quick enough to land her Punch before Melantha could disappear for another attack ... and pop back out just before going to sleep. Hyrem didn't see what happened, but Leila did; Melantha mistakenly jumped onto a Shroomish when she was trying to hide again, and the mushroom released a fine green Powder to retaliate. Just before the Disaster Pokemon went to Sleep Leila took the opportunity to Ice Punch her lights out. Hyrem was fine with the cheap shot taken; it's not in the nature of Dark-type Pokemon to "play fair" anyway.
"Well, lucky break for us then! We'll probably be able to get only one more attack in before Melantha wakes up, maybe two, so let's make sure they're good ones! Do another Ice Punch before using Assist; maybe we'll get lucky! If she's still not awake by then, Bite down on her, that ought to get her attention!" |

"Well, this is it, Melantha, if you can hear me use Leer as many times as you can before ending this round by showing Leila your Superpower! Make sure to end this round with Superpower regardless of how many times you Leer at Leila!"

Round 3
Hyrem can't help but to match his Sneasel's grin at how the situation had turned out. Their foe was now snoozing at such a pivotal point in the match, now they had to take advantage of it before she woke up. Rob felt a little panic in his chest and yelled out orders to Melentha hoping she would hear him, they had a trick up their sleeve and now they had to use it before it was too late! Leila dives at Melentha with another Ice Punch the cold fist slamming into the Absol startling her out of her sleep ... oh dear that didn't last long!
Melentha looks around getting her bearings remembering where she was and she turns to Leila giving her a fierce Leer making her shiver with nerves, her defences dropping. She shakes her head ridding her mind of the scary image of the Absol to concentrate on her next attack. She uses her Assist to draw on Sarkhan's move pool. Her claws grow long and she Slashes Melentha across the face making her yelp in pain gritting her eyes against the pain and backs off. Leila jumps onto Melentha's back before she can react and Bites down on her neck making her squeal and shakes her body trying to rid herself of the nasty Sneasel attachment. With Leila hanging on Melentha stops fighting and begins to glow a light blue her eyes surrounded by the aura as she taps into her small fighting reserves. She gives a loud yell as she leaps up into the air twisting around causing Leila to lose her grip. She grabs her with her claws and using her Superpower throws her at a great speed back towards the ground where she lands with a sickening crack sending dust and grass flying. Melentha lands back on the ground wincing as her power and defences were dropped along with her energy levels. The dust clears and Leila was lost in a crater in the ground her eyes closed shut, her injuries far too severe to continue on. "Leila is unable to battle, the winner is Melentha!" Health: 51% Energy: 41% Status: Atk - Def - Fighting Energy Depleted Health: 00% Energy: 67% Status: KO'd from her injuries Congratulations to Itzatrap and Melentha. It was a quick battle, you had your ace card and used it well, had it not been for that the battle could have gone on longer and been very different. Well Done though, I hope to see you back with the same type of ruthless strategy. For her victory Melentha receives this .She also receives two levels. Commiserations to Gemini Spark and Leila, that one fighting attack was all it took to take out 60% of Leila's health. It was unfortunate really, had that not been used the attack could have gone on longer and the outcome been different. That's the problem with having a 4x weakness (reffed as 3x but it was still enough!). Well done for the effort in the short battle anyway. Leila receives 1 XP for participating in the battle. |

Hyrem knew they'd only be able to get one attack in, but it'd have been nice if Leila's Ice Punch froze Melantha so she wouldn't be able to do much. Really nice. As in, the battle probably wouldn't have gone the way it did. You see, after that Ice Punch, Melantha woke up and angrily Leered at Leila, lowering the Sneasel's Defense and making her nervous. Still, she pressed on, using Sarkhan's power to Assist her in gaining the sharper claws necessary to Slash Melantha in the face, then get onto the Absol's back and Bite down on her neck, causing the Disaster Pokemon to scream in pain, but she didn't flinch from that. And that would've been nice too. Really nice. As in, the battle probably wouldn't have gone the way it did. You see, Melantha had then started to focus all her Fighting energy into one attack, leaping into the air, twisting around to shake Leila off, then Hyrem watched in horror as the Absol pounced on his Sneasel in midair and threw her down in one Superpowerful move. The Absol certainly looked tired as a result of using that attack, but certainly not as bad as Leila, who was instantly knocked out from the heavy blow. "Leila is unable to battle, the winner is Melentha!" said Stacey, the referee. Hyrem was in shock. What ... just happened? He then realized Leila was hurt and instantly ran over to the unconscious Sneasel. "Oh no, oh no, oh nonono, Leila! Leila! Are you okay, girl?" he said before hugging her limp body. "Come on, Leila, say something!" he shouted, as if that would help bring her back. "Snea ... sel?" she asked weakly. She had no idea what just hit her either. "Oh, thank Arceus you're okay!" said Hyrem as he hugged Leila tighter. "I'm so sorry, I should've seen an attack like that coming!" Leila could feel how sad her trainer was and starting licking him on his cheek to try to convey that she wasn't blaming her trainer at all. "Aw, thanks, Leila, I needed that!" he said softly, starting to get his smile back before approaching Rob and Melantha, still holding Leila in his arms. "Great battle, I didn't see that coming," he said to Rob. "And you were great too, Melantha! Can't wait to get an Absol of my own! Any chance I could pet you?" he asked the Absol. "Sneeeezaaa!" Leila voiced her objections very loudly despite being too weak to move; this Absol was now a rival, a Pokemon to beat, and she was not going to have her trainer be friendly with the enemy! "Aw, come on, Leila, go to sleep already!" Hyrem complained, though he started laughing soon after, realizing how funny the situation was. "Maybe some other time, then! We'll have to battle again sometime, Rob! Thanks again!" he said before carrying his beloved Sneasel to a Pokemon Center for some much needed healing. Sneasel gains 1 XP! "Leila is unable to battle, the winner is Melentha!" "We did it?" Rob said, just as Melantha leaped to her trainer's side, with him hugging the feline like Pokémon, "Good job, Melantha, I knew you could do it!" Melantha stood next to her trainer, beaming with pride, just as Hyrem spoke to the duo, "Great battle, I didn't see that coming," he said to Rob. "And you were great too, Melantha! Can't wait to get an Absol of my own! Any chance I could pet you?" Melantha looked on and gave a graceful nod to the trainer, which was followed by the objection of the fallen warrior, "Sneeeezaaa!", Rob could only smile at the feisty little Pokémon, while Melantha growled in a low tone at her new rival, "Aw, come on, Leila, go to sleep already!" Hyram told the Sneasel. "Maybe some other time, then! We'll have to battle again sometime, Rob! Thanks again!" "Thank you, and Leila, and we will battle again for sure!" Rob said to Hyrem as he rushed the Sneasel to the Pokémon Center for a much needed rest. "I guess we should go there as well, after all, this match took quite a bit out of you didn't it?" Melantha nodded with a smile, "Sooool!" "Alright, the Center it is!" The trainer quickly raced to the Pokémon Center with Melantha running besides him, with the trainer waving goodbye to the ref as he left the grassy field. "Thank you!" he screamed at her, just as he caught a look of the Mansion's windows, displaying the figures he saw before. "I'll be back, soon." he thought to himself as he left left The Haunted Mansion's Forgotten Garden. OOC: Thanks again for reffing another match Arc! And thanks for the match GS, would love to battle again sometime! Raising Melantha from level 9 to level 11 and taking her trophy as well! Thanks! |
