UPN PASBL: Haymez vs. Sneezey12

Haymez vs. Sneezey12

As the sun struggles to see through the winter clouds, two trainers meet on the field of battle - the Clay Arena:

Quote:
Clay (Outdoor. Standard Arena for Outdoor Battles): A basic, standard terrain. Nothing special. The arena used for the 5th round of the Indigo Pokémon League in the anime is a prime example of a Clay Arena.
First, the rules:
4v4 Singles
Equilevel
Slappy
Return=KO
48 hr DQ

And the order:
Haymez posts squad of 6
Sneezey12 posts squad of 6 and sends out
Haymez sends out and attacks
Sneezey12 attacks
I ref
Sneezey12 attacks
Haymez attacks etc

Good luck to both trainers - let's get it on!

Awesome. Thanks for reffing SK, good luck Sneezey.

Let's see,

Nidoking: male level 4
Nidoking (Poison/Ground): Of the Nido monarchy, Nidoking has the higher offensive power, and any attacks it uses with its tail are 1.25 times as powerful. All Nidoran have sensitive hearing, at the expense of being more vulnerable to sound attacks.
If not completely immune, poison types are highly resistant to poisoning.
Ground Pokémon are considered to be immune to electricity while standing on the ground. If a Ground Pokémon is in the air, they take 75% the normal damage from electric attacks. If a ground type is wet, electric attacks affect it normally (unless the Pokémon is naturally wet/slimy, like Quagsire).
Bio and Sig in progress

Stratus: female Castform level 3
Castform (Normal): Castform change their shape, as well as their type, depending on the weather. It will become a Water type while it's raining, a Fire type during a Sunny Day or something very similiar, etc. Castform remain Normal during "normal" weather.
Normal types can use the greatest variety of attacks in the league: they pay for this, however, by having less type energy. In the ASB, Normal types take 100% damage from Ghost type moves.
Bio: Castform has always been greatly connected with the weather. Stratus was given to me in the Weather Institute near Fortree city a while back when I was passing through. She fit right in to my team with her ability to change type with the weather. I noticed every time she used a weather move she did it was much easier to pull off than if it was used by my other team members. I found this to be wonderful, but Stratus was not satisfied. She was always getting struck while trying to change the weather to suit her needs. After much training a new ability came forth. Who says the weatherman is never right?
Sig: Weatherman (special training)
When Stratus enters the arena the weather will instantly change to either hail, rain, or sun. The weather to be summoned will be specified on entry. When Stratus enters the battle a good amount of energy is drained initially. Whenever an opposing pokemon attempts to use a weather changing move, a good amount of energy is drained again from Stratus in order to keep the weather in the same state. Stratus can no longer use any weather changing moves. This ability comes into effect whenever Stratus enters the battle, so if switched out the weather will be able to be changed again upon reentry. This will not take affect indoors or in arenas where weather is otherwise disallowed.

Druddigon: male level 3
Druddigon: (Dragon) Druddigon is very cold-blooded. In the sun and warmer temperatures, it will fight with great enthusiasm, but in cold temperatures or if chilled, it will quickly grow sluggish. Its skin is very tough and scaly and its body is covered in spikes; both of these factors will cause minor recoil to physical attacks.
Dragons tend to be good swimmers and fliers. However, they hate cold weather.
Bio and Sig in progress

Muphrid: male Absol level 3
Absol (Dark): Due to their ability to predict disasters, Absol have a faster reaction time to large-scale attacks (Earthquake, Blast Burn, Explosion, Thunder, Hydro Pump, Sandstorm, exceptionally powerful sig moves, destruction of arena, etc, etc). This does not guarantee escape, it merely increases the odds of dodging.
Dark types can see in the dark. They prefer to fight at night, however light does not adversely affect them.
Bio and Sig in progress

Tarazed: male Aerodactyl level 3
Aerodactyl (Rock/Flying): Aerodactyl are a terrifying sight to some Pokémon. Against any Pokémon that would reasonably be afraid of Aerodactyl, an Aerodactyl’s fear-inducing attacks are more effective. Its biting attacks do slightly more damage.
Rock types generally have hard bodies, which makes them resistant to unskilled (non-fighting) blows. However, most are so heavy that they will sink in water, so they stay away from deep-water sources if possible. Rock types prefer heat to cold.
Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation. When standing on the ground, they take 1x damage from Electric moves.
Bio: Tarazed was revived from a fossil around the same time as Altair the Archeops. Back in the prehistoric days, their species were at odds with each other over who should control the skies. Seeking to avoid the pain and bloodshed associated with fighting each other, each side agreed on a series of aerial challenges in order to decide the victor. Tarazed was the representative from the Aerodactyl side. He trained extensively in order to compete and managed to do very well against his opponent. Tarazed has long since retired from the world of aerial acrobatics, but his time and training have left him some benefits. He and Altair remain fierce competitors, but have managed to become friends.
Sig: Acrobat (special training)
Tarazed is a stronger and more agile flyer than others of his species and is capable of using the moves Dragon Dance and Swords Dance.

Feraligatr: male level 3
Feraligatr (Water): While not the most agile of the Totodile line, Feraligatr is the fastest on land and in water. It will travel on all fours for extended distances. As an alligator Pokémon, the Totodile family has the strongest bite attack of any Pokémon relative to their size. However, their jaw muscles are meant for clamping down, not opening up: most Pokémon can easily keep them shut with their own hands. In wet arenas, the airholes on their snouts allow them to stay almost completely submerged while being able to see above the surface.
Water Pokémon are able to hold their breath and/or breathe under water. The time varies, from about half an hour to one hour for reptilians and mammals, and indefinitely for fish and squid like Pokémon. They are also, generally, good swimmers.
Bio and Sig in progress

Come at me.

All Ghost squad? All Ghost squad.

Anasazi: Male Dusclops (level 4) (level-up)
Biography: Anasazi is the ghost of a deceased tribal chief, known for his unrelenting war tactics and brutal power. His entire tribe was massacred and his land razed in the dead of night by another tribe, himself included. He holds a connection to the rest of his tribe that allows him to shift into their plane of existence with great effort.
Special Training: True Power
Anasazi can use Shadow Force once per match. Anasazi no longer benefits from fighting more enthusiatically at night, as most Ghosts do. Additionally, he is considered weak to Fire type moves, and can no longer use any Fire type moves. His connection to other spirits means that he does not have full control over his own being, let alone having control over that of others, and as such can no longer use Curse, Pain Split, or Destiny Bond.

Virendra: Female Haunter (level 3)
Biography: Virendra was once a warlord, victor of countless battles, and known to defeat her opponents with her bare hands if she needed to. Her death was a swift and unjust one, ambushed as she was attending a duel, and slaughtered mercilessly, though not without a fight. It is because of this she cannot stand unsporting tactics, and will not even change out of solid form, always apting for a fair fight. Virenda is white, and her eyes are entirely light blue, as is the inside of her mouth.
Special Training: For Glory
Virendra cannot use Sucker Punch, Disable, Spite, Trick, Toxic, Venoshock, Taunt, Torment, Swagger, Thief, or Snatch, as she considers them unsporting. Virendra will not change out of solid form at any time. Virendra cannot evolve, but is considered fully evolved from the standpoint of energy and health levels. Virendra also gains Rock Smash, Brick Break, Dynamic Punch, and Focus Punch, being used to fighting with her bare hands, and has as much Fighting energy as a Water type would have Ice energy.

Miss Missy Miss: Female Mismagius (level 3)
Biography: Miss Missy Miss has always taken joy in staying awake for days on end, and I could never figure out as to why. After quite a while I determined that this problem was because she couldn't relax when it was time to sleep, disturbed by all the commotion around her. It was at this point when I got her a white noise machine, and she hasn't had a problem relaxing ever since. In fact, she liked the white noise so much that she would just start letting out sounds of her own to mock it, calming herself down in the process.
Special Training: White Noise
Whenever Miss Missy Miss uses Screech, she is benefitted with the same boosts associated with a Calm Mind. Her Screech attacks now use 25% more energy, and may only be used twice per match. Also, because she respects how difficult it is to get sleep sometimes, she will not purposely use damaging attacks against sleeping opponents, and has foregone her learning of Nightmare and Dream Eater.

Keaira: Female Sableye (level 3)
Biography: Keiara, being a Sableye, has always had a deep connection to the shadows around her. Inspired by her abilities involving shadows, Keira decided to go under training to use shadows further to her advantage, forming a strong attack out of them.
Special Attack: Totally Not Shadowball (Ghost/Dark)
Keiara draws shadows around her into a ball of energy which she then hurls at the target for extreme damage. If the arena is very dark, the charge time will be reduced slightly, but if there is very little shadow to draw from, it will take longer, at ref's discretion. Obviously if for whatever reason there are no shadows about, the attack is unusuable. This attack takes extreme energy, and can be used twice per battle, once as a Ghost type attack, and once as a Dark type attack. Charge time in an average arena is just over that of a Hyper Beam.

Perdita: Female Drifblim (level 3)
Biography: Perdita loves nothing more than to float about happily in the sky, but she just doesn't like it when people try to bring he down. Inspired by Swords Dance and Reflect, she has created a way to attempt to stop this from happening.
Special Defense: Spin Sphere (Ghost)
Perdita spins quickly in place why producing Ghost energy, causing a swirling sphere to appear around her. This sphere will bounce orbs and rocks back in the exact direction from which they came, with slightly reduced power. Any other moves that hit the sphere are harmlessly nulled a la Protect. Energy use is equal to that of Reflect, and Spin Sphere may only be used once per battle.

Gashka: Genderless Rotom (level 3)
Sigless

I believe I'll start off with Keaira.

Round 1: I Need to be Careful What I Write...

Though I do get on UPN during the day, my records for reffing are on my home computer, so most if not all reffings will be afternoon/evening UK time. I will endeavour to ref at least once a day assuming rounds are ready. Hope that's OK.

Sneezey kicks us off by sending out Kaeira, a female Sableye - reading her sig, it becomes apparent that I should beware casually mentioning the weather since her sig likes the fact that the sun is behind clouds. For the purposes of this, it is cloudy but not dark, so charging will be of average time at present. Haymez decides to respond with the fearsome Druddigon, a solid choice from the 5th Gen.

Druddigon glares angrily at Kaeira as the latter decides to calm her mind for the battle ahead - having none of this, the large dragon roars loudly, the din and terrifying display snapping Kaeira out of her concentration. Having successfully prevented his opponent from setting up, Druddigon decides to go on the offensive.

Having been ordered to do nothing, Kaeira winces a bit as she sees the Pulse of Dragon energy come racing towards her, the blast catching her full in the chest and sending her flying. Rolling to a halt, Kaeira stands with an angry look at Druddigon...or she would if Sableye had expressions.

Now free to act, Kaeira charges up a Shadow Ball, grinning in anticipation as she hurls it at the great dragon. With a growl, Druddigon tries to get out of the way, but his large size makes him too big a target and the sphere hits home, sending him sprawling as the round ends.

Summary:

An even round to start us off, with both battlers using roughly equal health and energy. Both still fresh in all respects. A status indicator will follow if I can figure out how...

Not sure ranged shadow claw is a thing.

Anyway, tackle her to the ground with superpower. Try to end up crushing her. Keep your eyes shut once you're on top of her.

Round 2: Well That Could Have Gone Better...

Kaeira tries to regain the initiative by striking Druddigon with a Shadow Claw at range...only to pause and stare at her claw wondering what the hell a "Ranged Shadow Claw" is meant to be. While she derps, Druddigon is building himself up for a potentially game-changing attack, showing off his Superpower as he charges right at the derping Sableye.

WHAM

Kaeria hits the dirt again, reeling both from the blow and the horror that comes from the realisation that, thanks to PASBL rules, she is actually weak to Fighting rather than immune. After that display of power, however, Druddigon is pretty worn out, swaying on the spot before falling towards Kaeira...

RNG: 57!

Druddigon lands on Kaeira's legs as the Sableye tries to scramble to safety - enough to keep her from getting away, but not to completely pin her. Turning her head to launch a Confuse Ray, Kaeira sees that Druddigon has his eyes clamped shut and decides to conserve her strength for later.

Summary:

Druddigon took no damage this round, but used quite a chunk of energy and is feeling tired out. Fighting is pretty much gone, and he'll be slower to react next round on account of Superpower+having his eyes closed.

Kaeira was hit by a train this round and is hovering around the midpoint in health already. No energy was used however, so she will be fresh next round and should be able to get out from under Druddigon without much trouble.

Roll over to more fully squish him, let him feel the pain of something multiple times his weight. Then just chill. If he manages to escape hit him with dragon rage.

Round 3: Sharing It Around

Despite being half flattened by a Druddigon, Kaeira refuses to give up that easily and decides to Split the Pain she suffers between herself and her opponent. The weary Druddigon struggles to move as he feels his health get chipped away, narrowing the gap between the two pokemon.

Finally, Druddigon feels his limbs strengthen and he rolls over, snapping Kaeira's concentration as her chest gets crushed by the much larger dragon. Wincing in pain, Kaeira manages to pull one arm free and begins to Cut at Druddigon's back in a Fury, the blows getting increasingly strong as she vents her anger on her opponent. As he feels a particularly strong blow hit, Druddigon howls in pain and shuffles away from the claws, the next blow missing as Kaeira sinks back wearily, her legs still partially trapped.

Summary: Druddigon did not have the best of rounds. After two strong attacks he's headed for the midpoint, and a series of scratches mar his back, which will be tender if struck again - this will not need a Centre visit. Energy wise, he used none and will be pretty fresh next round.

Kaeira regained a decent amount of health, which was then reduced by getting sat on by a heavy opponent. She's still headed for the midpoint, but not as much as before and she has more health than Druddigon. Energy wise, she's shattered after two high energy moves and again, the pressure of getting sat on. Plenty in the tank, but she'll be slow to move next round.

Round 4: Dragon Rage

Druddigon rises, looking severely ticked off at the battered Kaeira, who manages to stagger to her feet and hobble towards the dragon. Seeing her intent to flank him and get at his wounded back, Druddigon decides that he's having none of this and grabs Kaeira in a Crushing Claw, nails digging in as he rips her away from him and slams her down on her back.

Rising gingerly, Kaeira prepares a Shadow Claw, only to pause as she sees how genuinely narked Druddigon looks. With a bellow of Outrage, Druddigon goes nuts, battering the hell out of the wounded Sableye as she desperately tries to fend off his rampage. Flailing madly, she manages to hit Druddigon with the Shadow Claw, but Druddigon responds by backhanding her across the arena, the battered Sableye rolling to a halt as the round ends, a decent amount of space between her and her opponent.

Summary:

Druddigon took a decent hit this round, taking him beneath midway now, but he's not in danger yet. Energy took another dive, the Outrage taking its toll on his strength for later. Would appreciate a 1-mover in the next round or so.

Kaeira got hit by a rampaging dragon, which sucked for her. Pushing the last quarter in health, but only getting in one hit meant she has more in the tank energywise next round, and will most likely have the initiative going into round 5.

Round 5: Missed It By That Much

Kaeira advances with grim determination, charging up fighting energy in her fist. Druddigon sees her coming, but is too weary from his exertions last round to blast her in the face just yet. Reaching Druddigon, Kaeira swings with a shrill cry, her Dynamic Punch striking right between the eyes and snapping Druddigon's head back. The great dragon crashes to the ground and...

RNG: 68!

Druddigon rises with a shake of his head, a mild dose of confusion afflicting his senses as Kaeira charges after him, Ice energy now filling her fist. The Ice Punch catches him in the face as he opens his mouth and roasts Kaeira with a Flamethrower, blowing her away again. Druddigon falls to his knees in agony, barely able to stand; Kaeira is the same, though more from exhaustion than pain...

Summary:

Both pokemon are on their last legs healthwise, though Druddigon is worse, that SE hit nearly finishing him. The confusion is gone and the 1-mover helped his energy, which is now just below half.

Kaeira has a little more health, but a strong hit will still finish her. Energy is lower than Druddigon by a good amount, and she would appreciate a breather soon after so many big attacks.

Round 6: Aye, That'll Do

Kaeira tries to finish things off by having her Shadow Sneak across the ground to attack Druddigon. With the dragon barely hanging on, victory seems assured until...

PROTECTED!!!

The shadow bounces off of a dome of force surrounding Druddigon, the dragon cackling as Kaeira nervously looks on, realising that she's out of moves - and out of luck. Roaring triumphantly, Druddigon unleashes the fiery torrent of Dragon Rage, bathing Kaeira in draconic fire which the smaller pokemon cannot stand against; as the conflagration fades, she falls slowly to the ground.

Kaeira is unable to battle! Sneezey12, send out your next pokemon!

Druddigon is done, health wise and in energy, breathing heavily after that last burst of power.

Round 7: Yay, I won! Oh, wait...

Sneezey12 replaces the fallen Kaeira with another interestingly named Ghost type, the uplevel Dusclops Anasazi. Exhausted from fighting Kaeira, Druddigon waits for his new opponent to get in close, but Anasazi decides to keep his distance and rely on his shadow Sneak to finish things. This he does as Druddigon makes a final roar of pain and slumps to the ground, defeated.

Druddigon is unable to battle! Haymez, please send out your next pokemon!

Anasazi took no damage is fine for energy.
