Grovyle UPN PASBL: Gym Trainer Match: Sneezey12 vs Phoopes

Sneezey12 (GT) vs. phoopes (challenger)
4 vs 4
Singles
Equilevel 3
72 hour DQ
Switch = Gym
Slapstick
Ground Zero Gym

Spoiler: show
Ground Zero Gym: The Ground Zero Gym Arena is a square area of 40 metres on each side -- specifically, it's a square block of reinforced concrete measuring 28 metres on each side and of three metres in height, sitting in a moat of sewage which is two metres deep, so a metre's height of concrete is exposed for battle.
On the concrete block lies four reactormajiggers linked by effluent pipe. The reactormajiggers are about three metres high and two metres in diameter, and the pipes about a metre in diameter. The reactormajiggers are indestructible, and the pipes will only break if they're hit by attacks as strong as Hyper Beam, in which sewage will spill out for two rounds until the self-regeneration technology fixes it. The reactormajiggers constantly belch out a combinations of poison gases which will float into the atmosphere, poisoning any Pokemon that stays airborne at heights of about five metres if they stay for over a round. However, as a result of the constant release of gases, the clouds above the gym have been severely affected by the poison. As a result, acid rain will have a 30% chance of falling onto the arena at the end of a round, lasting for four rounds, which will have one of the three following effects due to the cocktail of poisons within:
- A corrosive poison strong enough to make Rock and Ground-types feel more uncomfortable in the rain due to the strengthened acid, unless they're part Poison-type themselves. All Poison-types will be unaffected by this poison.
- Narcotic poisons in the acid rain will make Pokemon using Psychic-type moves feel more drained.
- A specific toxin targeted at the DNA structure of Steel-type Pokemon will make them uncomfortable as well.
Due to environmental concerns even the gym can't overwrite, the usage of Rain Dance is disallowed. However, using Sunny Day will not have the effect of breaking the acid rain spell.
However, at the end of each round, the reactormajiggers do have a 1 in 100 chance of falling out, in which a huge explosion will happen. The reactormajiggers will be destroyed without a trace, as well as their pipes, and all Pokemon on the field will faint (including Sector Shadow operatives). When this happens, the poison gas and acid rain effects will not be in play for the battle's remainder.

So, My first reffing of a gym match, we'll see how this goes.

Anyway, the newly approved GT Sneezey will take on Phoopes for his first attempt at defending the Ground Zero gym. Good Luck to both sides, and lets begin!

Good luck, phoopes. Thanks for picking this up, Haymez.

Virendra: Female Haunter (level 3)
Biography: Virendra was once a warlord, victor of countless battles, and known to defeat her opponents with her bare hands if she needed to. Her death was a swift and unjust one, ambushed as she was attending a duel, and slaughtered mercilessly, though not without a fight. It is because of this she cannot stand unsporting tactics, and will not even change out of solid form, always apting for a fair fight. Virenda is white, and her eyes are entirely light blue, as is the inside of her mouth.
Special Training: For Glory
Virendra cannot use Sucker Punch, Disable, Spite, Trick, Toxic, Venoshock, Taunt, Torment, Swagger, Thief, or Snatch, as she considers them unsporting. Virendra will not change out of solid form at any time. Virendra cannot evolve, but is considered fully evolved from the standpoint of energy and health levels. Virendra also gains Rock Smash, Brick Break, Dynamic Punch, and Focus Punch, being used to fighting with her bare hands, and has as much Fighting energy as a Water type would have Ice energy.

Creed: Male Haunter (level 3)
Biography: Creed is the most underhanded thing in existance, I'm pretty sure. He spends most of his time training to perfect the ways of dirty fighting. Obviously this means that he had to up his Dark movepool a bit since most dirty tricks fall into such an energy type.
Special Training: Underhanded
Creed is now familiar with Dark energy.

Dante: Male Zubat (level 3)
Biography: Dante has trained himself incredibly well to move about whilst using his echolocation, allowing himself to begin training himself to perform much more complicated manuevers more easily. He realizes, however that upon evolution he would have to retrain himself to perform complicated actions, due to his new size, and, more importantly, his new eyes, and as such, absolutely refuses to evolve at any given point. Because of this he has also trained himself to attempt to be as tough and energetic as possible, so as not to miss out on the bonuses towards stamina and energy that he would normally have gotten through evolution.
Special Training: Crobat, I think not
Dante's natural agility is about 1.5x that of the average Zubat, thanks to his extensive training. Dante absolutely refuses to evolve at any given point, and as such, cannot be evolved to bring into battle as a Golbat or Crobat. However, due to stamina and energy training, Dante is considered fully evolved when it comes to health and energy levels.

The Watcher In The Water: Female Tentacruel (level 3)
Biography: The Watcher In The Water once guarded the lake outside of dwarven ruins that were long since dead. Then some complete jerks tried to kill her just because she wanted to give them a hug. What's so bad about hugs?
Special Training: HUUUUUUUUGS...
The Watcher In The Water's ability to hold things with her tentacles is roughly twice as strong as that of others of her species. This does not effect damage done by any constraining moves, however.

Shelob: Female Ariados (level 3)
Biography: Shelob is the queen of her kind. The longest living spider there is. This is probably because she'll eat almost anything. Prefering to suck out her prey's insides first, and owing to her long life so far, her ability to drain is a bit different than the norm.
Special Training: Life Sucker
Shelob's draining moves take longer to be effected by diminishing returns. This means that she can pull off one extra draining move prior to diminishing return kicking in.

Behemecoatyl: Female Scolipede (level 3)
Biography: Behemecoatyl is a bug that rolls into a ball. She is obviously able to tighten these muscles.
Special Training: GameFreak is on crack
Behemecoatyl can use Coil.

Grovyle Round 1: A Poisonous Rivalry

A deep purple hued fog descends on the Ground Zero Gym arena, on loan from leader Shadow for this match. The newly appointed gym trainer of the aforementioned gym, Sneezey, stands at one side of the stadium, watching as his opponent moves into position. Phoopes, the challenger, is ready and both sides select their first pokemon. They call them forth, and the battle begins!

If not completely immune, poison types are highly resistant to poisoning.

Tentacruel (Water/Poison): It has over 10 tentacles, so, unlike Tentacool, it can use its tentacles and still be able to move on land, provided at least half of its tentacles are free. They are still far better swimmers, however.
Water Pokémon are able to hold their breath and/or breathe under water. The time varies, from about half an hour to one hour for reptilians and mammals, and indefinitely for fish and squid like Pokémon. They are also, generally, good swimmers.
If not completely immune, poison types are highly resistant to poisoning.
The watcher in the water, who will henceforth be known as "watcher", let's out a cry as she enters the stadium. Phoopes' counter, Snake the reverse kobrA, hisses in reply. Both sides selecting a poison type to begin with. Watcher's eyes glow blue as she prepares an attack, at the same time that Snake is coiling himself up to raise his strength. The tentacruel launches an extremely fast stream of bubbles, almost forming a beam as they rush towards the wound up arbok. Snake takes it like a man before retaliating. Oftentimes somebody will spit on someone else in order to show their displeasure or loathing towards that person. That is exactly what Snake does. He almost appears to be vomiting up large globs of green, but really he is firing a round of seed bombs at his tentacular foe. A series of ten bombs is fired, most of them making contact. Roaring in outrage, Watcher fires a ball of pulsating water at her foe. The water slams into Snake, who shakes it off just fine and looks ready to continue.

Snake took severe damage this round. Used a fair amount of energy, grass is at 1/2.

Watcher took significant damage, used more energy, but still feels fine.

Grovyle Round 2: I know! Let's throw dirt clods at each other!

Snake is very enthusiastic in his showing of hatred towards his foe. Angry at the damage dealt by Watcher last round he starts playing dirty, slinging a load of mud bombs at the squid-like pokemon. However, The Watcher in the Water is always watching, and is always prepared. She creates a thin transparent pane of glass directly in front of her, right in the path of the mud. The bombs slam into the newly erected barrier and slides to the ground, the wall blocking it with maximum effectiveness. Even angrier now at the failure of his attack, Snake rushes at his foe with fangs coated with thunderous power. He crashes into the wall, and breaks through after a couple of seconds, biting down on one of the Tentacruel's tentacles, transferring some of that energy into Watcher's body. Not appreciative of the shock, Watcher responds with a raging torrent of water, a veritable hydro pump blasting Snake like a power washer. The Arbok can't hold on and is blown across the arena, slamming into one of the pipes lining the platform, causing multiple cracks to appear on its surface.

Watcher took good damage, right on the first quarter. Used a lot of energy, feeling kind of tired at the moment.

Snake took major damage, sitting a decent way above half. Less energy use. Electric at half, ground at 2/3.

Based off that, I don't think there'd be cracks in the pipes. Yeah, Arbok got slammed into the pipes, but it doesn't really weigh that much (less than 150 lbs, IIRC). Also, Hydro Pump, while strong, still isn't "as strong as Hyper Beam," and didn't hit the pipes directly.

I just don't want any more poison gas screwing with my other Pokemon than there already will be.

The cracks aren't so bad that you can flick it and shatter them. The pipe just received a nice blow from being hit forcefully. It will still be fairly hard to break it. And its only in the one spot.

Grovyle Round 4: Shhh, it's a secret!

Snake shakes himself off, droplets of water flying in all directions, before turning to hiss threateningly at his foe. A powdery beam is emitted from the Arbok's mouth, zigzagging over to strike Watcher, whose eyes suddenly glaze over. Yes it appears that that beam contained a secret power, causing confusion in the Tentacruel. Watcher struggles to recall her orders, but is unable to remember. Jubilant in his stroke of luck, Snake sings a happy song. A round of sound waves sail through the air to grate on poor Watcher's ears. Needless to say, Arbok are not known for their singing. This noise brings the water type back to her senses, resulting in a supersonic screech, bringing the confusion to Snake this time.

Snake took no damage this round, used a pretty good amount of energy, is currently pretty confused.

Watcher took severe damage this round, dipping a mild way below her opponent on that front. Not much energy use. Feels fresher.

Grovyle Round 5: FINISH HIM!!!

Snake is currently lost in the derp kingdom, on a quest to save the princess Derpina from the likes of Bowser. In any case, he is in no shape to do much of anything as Watcher opens the flood gates with another hydro pump, Snake is slammed into the pipes once again pretty close to the same spot as before, causing more cracks to spread, but still no breakage. Now fully aware of himself, Snake hisses angrily before slithering back and forth and leaping at the water type, whipping his tail around to the side to catch The Watcher on the back of the head with a dragon tail, knocking her forward onto her face. Before Snake can get to far though, Watcher barrel rolls over and launches a stream of scalding hot water at poor Snake, roasting him pretty badly, leaving a nasty burn along his body. Watcher rears up again, surrounding herself with spirals of energy, and slams down at her foe, who manages to get partially away, the giga impact crushing Snake's tail. Unfortunately for him, this is where his burns are located, causing him to screech out in pain before collapsing onto the ground, defeated.

Snake is unable to battle, next mon and orders from Phoopes!

Watcher took a considerable blow, around halfway between half and the final quarter. Used a TON of energy, is absolutely exhausted. Energy levels well below half, a bit above 1/3.

Grovyle Round 6: Commence typespam in 3, 2, 1...

Replacing the fallen Snake, Phoopes sends out Bender the Mr. Mime.

Quote:

Psychics are considered to automatically be familiar with psychic abilities. Thus, they can use Psychic to move and toss Pokémon. If facing a non-bug, non-dark opponent, psychics can sense their opponent somewhat, making accuracy reducing attacks less effective.
Bender takes full advantage of his freshness and fires off a wave of psychic force, slamming into Watcher and pushing her back a few feet. The water type, finally prepares and emits a bright light, the ray quite effectively confusing the mime. Watcher then reaches out to grasp the psychic in her long tentacles. Bender sways a little bit before getting caught in the constrictive grasp of the Tentacruel. The tentacled sea dweller squeezes her foe tightly before making her way over to the moat, looking to drown the psychic. Fortunately for Bender, all this squeezing and being dragged around releases him from the grip of confusion, allowing him to fire off another psychic as Watcher maneuvers over one of the pipes. Watcher lets out a shriek, then falls forward into the moat. Bender quickly wriggles free to avoid being dragged down as well.

Watcher is unable to battle! Next 'mon and orders from Sneezey!

Bender took moderate damage from being squeezed. Used a pretty large amount of energy, feeling fine though due to overall freshness.

Grovyle Round 7: Log rolling competition agogo!

Replacing Watcher, Sneezey sends out Shelob the Ariados to combat the mime.

Bugs can, in most case, see in the dark. While most live in warm climates, they hate fire, and dislike cold.

Shelob stands atop the pipe, facing down Bender further down the same pipe. The mime shifts his feet slightly to retain his balance. This is not the most stable position. Shelob feels much more comfortable on the slick footing, and quickly spreads a layer of toxic spikes throughout the area, poisoning poor Bender as he steps on one. Not appreciating the poisonous bath, Bender responds with a wave of psychic force, slamming him into a reactormajigger before sliding onto the ground. Bender quickly attempts to hypnotize his foe, but is cut short by the crossed strike of an x-scissor, Shelob only experiencing some drowsiness.

Bender took a bit over extreme damage, landing him between half and the first quarter mark. Used a fairly large amount of energy, feeling all right.

Shelob took a bit more damage than his foe, landing a mild way below the first quarter. Higher energy use, feeling fine.
