It's like all the forces of ASB are conspiring against my using of Scyther.

Anasazi: Male Dusclops (level 2) (level-up)
Biography: Anasazi is the ghost of a deceased tribal chief, known for his unrelenting war tactics and brutal power. His entire tribe was massacred and his land razed in the dead of night by another tribe, himself included. He holds a connection to the rest of his tribe that allows him to shift into their plane of existence with great effort.
Special Training: True Power
Anasazi can use Shadow Force once per match. Anasazi no longer benefits from fighting more enthusiatically at night, as most Ghosts do. Additionally, he is considered weak to Fire type moves, and can no longer use any Fire type moves. His connection to other spirits means that he does not have full control over his own being, let alone having control over that of others, and as such can no longer use Curse, Pain Split, or Destiny Bond.

Maxim: Male Machoke (level 1)
Bio: Maxim has a slight problem with his belt. This problem is that he doesn't like the fact that it only has two settings. So what did he do? He tried to "crank it up to 11". Unfortunately that didn't quite work and he just ended up breaking it. So instead he decided to attempt to crank up the power of any boosts he lays upon himself. Though they have to rely on Maxim's "protective" nature.
Special Training: MAXED OUT!
Any boosting move Maxim uses that boosts his Defense, or Speed grants an extra bonus to that stat of roughly 25% that of the original boost itself, and uses 25% more energy. Maxim cannot adjust the settings on his belt at any time. Any boost to Maxim's Special Attack or Special Defense only grants 75% that of the normal boost.

Ismene: Female Gardevoir (level 1)
Biography: Ismene was a happy-go-lucky little thing as a young Ralts. She would always dance about in the most cheerful way, likely due to looking forward to her evolution into a Kirlia in the not-so-distant future. She brought joy to those around her like the beauty of a sunset after a hard day's work. But alas, her joyous youth was taken from her. One fateful evening Ismene found herself prancing about in the field just outside of her family's dwelling. It was a normal day, all in all, until a frightening roar sent terror through her spine. And with that terror came crippling pain, as she found herself flung into a tree, a crazed Tyranitar on the loose having found her out on her own and thought to make her its dinner. The second she hit the tree was as though all of her nerves shouted out in pain and were suddenly silenced. She found herself concious only through the adrenaline of the moment, but unable to pick herself up and flee, he spine snapped in two. Fortunately for her a rampaging Tyranitar is somewhat hard to miss, unless your a young child not paying attention to the world, I suppose, and her mother came to her rescue. The Tyranitar and her mother proceeded to engage in a full blown battle of epic proportions, and by the end of it, the Tyranitar was broken and beaten, barely even concious. Her mother carried her home, leaving the beast to wander, having calmed it's rampage for now. Many attempts were made at healing Ismene's spine since then, but none succeeded. Ismene would be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life. But life continued on, young Ismene carted around everywhere by her mother, her cheery attitude somewhat dimmed but most definitely not gone. For she still had hope, after all, that her spine would heal upon evolution, and she would be able to dance and prance about as a Kirlia just as she had dreamed before. Alas, the day did come when she would evolve, but even that did not spare her from her fate. She watched as all of the other Ralts her age evolved aswell, and couldn't help but feel resentful towards them all. She became a bit of a recluse, never speaking and obviously never leaving the area that had become her home. The more time passed, the more bitter she became, until the day came that her mother fell ill. She had already lost so much, and the one thing she had left to cling to was being ripped away from her. She stayed by her mother's side through the illness, her psychic abilities making it not too difficult to take care of the dying Gardevoir. But the the day her mother would pass did come, and this final loss that would leave her with nothing in the world sent her into such shock as to send out a wave of psychic energy shattering everything even remotely delicate around her. In the frustration she found herself beginning to glow, and in that moment as she began to evolve into a Gardevior, she looked at the body of her deceased mother, and back to herself, realizing that she would have to fend for herself from this point on. She remained silent, but no longer out of dissent, but instead respect for the world around her, her new evolution granting her the wisdom to see that all things happen for a reason, allowing her to let go of what had happened to her in the past. Instead of remaining a recluse she spent her time focusing on her psychic abilities, lifting herself up and gliding just above the ground. After much work, she found herself able to do this without even having to focus on it, and began turning her studies to the world around her. She decided to attempt to learn how to manipulate the air itself, feeling more attached to it emotionally than other physical things of the earth. She learned that the wind can be either soft or forceful, frightening or empowering, and many other things. The wind was about balance, something she never had in her life, and it brought her something she had not had since that fateful day years ago. A smile.
Special Training: Moving Forward
Ismene can no longer use the moves Lucky Chant, Encore, Hyper Voice, Round, Echoed Voice or Sleep Talk thanks to her vow of respectful silence. Her study of the wind has allowed her to learn Ominous Wind, Silver Wind, and Defog, able to use Defog once per match. Additionally, she no longer has use of her legs, and instead hovers roughly three inches above the ground through the use of psychic levitation, which she does not need to concentrate on in order to maintain. This levitation uses light energy every round, and can be stopped and started as pleased, however she will obviously not be able to move about very well without it. Moves such as Gravity and Smack Down will cause Ismene to hover with her knees just above the ground, her legs dragging about on the floor.

The Watcher In The Water: Female Tentacruel (level 1)
Biography: The Watcher In The Water once guarded the lake outside of dwarven ruins that were long since dead. Then some complete jerks tried to kill her just because she wanted to give them a hug. What's so bad about hugs?
Special Training: HUUUUUUUUGS...
The Watcher In The Water's ability to hold things with her tentacles is roughly twice as strong as that of others of her species. This does not effect damage done by any constraining moves, however.

R-66Y aka "Robo": Genderless Golett (level 1)
Sigless

Perdita: Female Drifloon (level 1)
Biography: Perdita loves nothing more than to float about happily in the sky, but she just doesn't like it when people try to bring he down. Inspired by Swords Dance and Reflect, she has created a way to attempt to stop this from happening.
Special Defense: Spin Sphere (Ghost)
Perdita spins quickly in place why producing Ghost energy, causing a swirling sphere to appear around her. This sphere will bounce orbs and rocks back in the exact direction from which they came, with slightly reduced power. Any other moves that hit the sphere are harmlessly nulled a la Protect. Energy use is equal to that of Reflect, and Spin Sphere may only be used once per battle.

"Ismene, time for your debut."

Grovyle Round 1: That wasmene

Laaaaadieeeees and Gennnnnnnntleeeeemen! Welcome to the Football stadium arena! We've got a wonderful battle planned today, a showdown between Sneezey and Xander, two familiar faces around here. Both sides send out their respective first choices, lets take a look at their stats,

Quote:

Teddiursa (Normal): Teddiursa are good at climbing, and have an easier go of it than most Pokémon.
Normal types can use the greatest variety of attacks in the league: they pay for this, however, by having less type energy. In the ASB, Normal types take 100% damage from Ghost type moves.
Those are some pretty nice looking stats, don't forget to update your fantasy football team with these two powerhouses.

Now let's get this underway. Xander's opening play appears to have the ball handed off to Castillo, followed by a swift run down towards the endzone. A good tactic, and sometimes a very effective one, let's see how Sneezey's team handles it. And there's the snap, the handoff goes perfectly, Castillo grabbing the ball, but is stopped short as Ismene uses her telekinetic powers to tackle the teddy bear from a distance, smacking him on the back of the head with a psychic force, causing him to fall flat on his face. Ouch. I guess that Gardevoir really Ismene. (badumtss) Picking himself up, Castillo prepares for second down, the plan is again a handoff, but this time he plans to just force his way through with a headbutt. The play begins, but again it seems Ismene is prepared for it. A wall of defenders suddenly appears, made of psychic energy. The wave of force rushes towards poor Castillo and throws him back for a net loss of yardage. And what's this? It appears Castillo may have dropped the ball! That's right, he has fumbled the football. It is quickly recovered by a member of Sneezey's team. It appears he will be attacking first next round.

At the end of the play, Ismene lost no yardage, though expended a large amount of energy to do so. She'll be okay for now, but using this much energy for too long will surely create problems down the road.

Castillo lost a high number of yards this round, moving close to a quarter of the way down the field. Much less energy use.

Sneezey to call the play.

Grovyle Round 2: Dat Status

As Sneezey takes his turn at calling the first play, he dreams up some pretty dastardly tactics. While both sides are lined up, waiting for the snap, Ismene stands up, and looks Castillo straight in the eye before firing an extremely bright ray of light at the defender. The light seems to have caused him to forget what he was doing, leaving him rather confused. Sneezey's quarterback calls the snap and the play begins. Castillo can't seem to figure out what is happening and falls prey to multiple small tendrils of electricity fired by the psychic. The tendrils encircle the ignorant bear before sending waves of electricity through him. This shakes him from his confusion, but not before the thunder wave has done its job, paralyzing him completely. Castillo lets out a cry of anguish as he is unable to help his team, who loses a bit of ground on the play. His voice echoes throughout the stadium, bringing a bit of pain to Ismene. The play ends and the officials have to carry Castillo back to his side of the line of scrimmage as the next play is prepared.

Ismene lost a moderate number of yards on the play, used average energy.

Castillo's team pushed the other team back a few yards, he himself only losing a minor amount of health. Low energy use.

Grovyle Round 3: Walled

The ball is once again placed on the line of scrimmage, this time its Xander calling the play though, and as he lets Castillo know the play, the bear calls it out to the rest of his team in a loud voice. The sound once again bounces around the stadium, this time it is amplified by the fading echoes of the last one. Unfortunately, Ismene has prepared a light screen just for the occasion, completely walling the energy from the noise, keeping her damage free while getting a peek at her foe's plans. The snap starts the play, and Castillo once again tries to swiftly avoid defenders and approach the end zone. Unfortunately, he is hindered by his paralysis and slowed by the light screen, which walls the bear completely. Ismene fires back with a focused blast of energy at the bear. He shakily gets to his feet paralysis gone along with a large number of yards lost on the play.

Ismene lost no yards this round, though a large amount of energy was expended. Fighting is around 1/3. She's feeling fairly tired at this point.

Castillo lost a huge number of yards, pushing him past midfield by a good ways. Average energy use, feeling slightly winded but nothing too bad.

Sneezey.

He was knocked out of confusion by thunder wave, that was an unlucky RNG roll for you. His other moves did not require movement and thus were unaffected by paralysis.

Paralysis effects ability to use energy, not just ability to move, unless it's muscle paralysis as caused by things like Body Slam.

...and something doing as little damage as a Thunder Wave should never knock something out of confusion. Weaken it ever so slightly, maybe, but never cause it to cease to be.

Grovyle Round 4: If you can't go through them, go under them!

Sneezey decides to play defensively this round, sending in his defensive line to join Ismene on the field. The psychic watches carefully as Xander's side begins the play, ready to stop any potentially damaging plays in their tracks. Castillo calls play 23, and the ball is snapped. Castillo get's hold of it while his team makes a protective barrier around him. The little bear begins digging a hole in the artificial turf! Is that even legal? Anyway, Castillo has disappeared from sight now, we can only guess where he is going. Ismene looks around carefully, on the lookout for the underground bear. After a few seconds Castillo bursts out of the ground right in front of Ismene, shattering the weak light screen, startling her, and giving him the opportunity to slash her to the side with a large claw made of shadows. Ismene gasps from the pain, then forces her foe back with a psychic wave.

Castillo lost significant yardage on the play, putting him in a critical position. Feeling a bit tired.

Ismene was pushed back a massive distance, placing her a fair distance past one quarter down the field. Feeling better.

Xander

Grovyle Round 5: And it's good!

Being near the endzone, Sneezy decides to go for the field goal. His kicker steps up, it appears to be Ismene taking the job for this one. The ball is placed and ready to go as Sneezy calls out the play. Looking to distract his opponents and keep them from hearing the calls, Castillo takes in a deep breath, ready to let out a massive yell, but all that comes out is a strangled gasp as Ismene flips him over with her telekinesis. The ball is snapped and placed in position for the kick. Ismene's eyes flash as she launches a psychic wave toward the ball, forcing it upward. But what's this? The wave seems to have caught Castillo as well! He flies through the air following the same arc as the ball. They both go up, AND IT'S GOOD! Both projectiles fly between the goal posts and bounce off the net in the back. Castillo slams into the ground, and attempts to stand back up, but falls back to the ground. The medical team rushes in to tend to him, and haul him off on a stretcher, looks like he's done for this game.

Castillo is unable to battle! Next 'mon and orders from Xander!

Ismene took no damage, but used a lot of energy. Feeling pretty tired.

Grovyle Round 6: Second string

Replacing his fallen comerade, Ba'al the Larvitar jogs out onto the field. Let's head up to the sports desk to take a look at his stats.

Rock types generally have hard bodies, which makes them resistant to unskilled (non-fighting) blows. However, most are so heavy that they will sink in water, so they stay away from deep-water sources if possible. Rock types prefer heat to cold.
Ground Pokémon are considered to be immune to electricity while standing on the ground. If a Ground Pokémon is in the air, they take 75% the normal damage from electric attacks. If a ground type is wet, electric attacks affect it normally (unless the Pokémon is naturally wet/slimy, like Quagsire).
Hmmm, a very respectable choice given the circumstances, though he'll never live up to the fame of his older brother. Anyway, let's look back to the game.

Following up their score last round, Sneezey's team set's up for the kickoff. Ba'al takes his place and focuses intently on the other side's movements, getting his energy pumped up. The kick goes up with Ismene infusing the ball with a nice amount of grass energy. Unaware of the nature of the ball, Ba'al gets under it and prepares for the catch, however when he does it hits harder than he expected, causing him to cry out in pain and drop the ball, which is quickly pounced on by members of Sneezey's team.

Setting up to continue down field, Ismene looks pretty tired, and as such get's nailed by an orb of ancientpower from Ba'al as the play begins. Sneezey's team throws a pass, and Ismene once again infuses the ball with energy. The ball heads over Ba'al's head, and he leaps up to nab the interception. However, just at the last second he remembers what happened with the ball last time, and he hesitates for a moment, just long enough for another player to shove him away. The ball continues on its course as Ba'al watches, and lands in the hands of its intended target, the player being struck by the energy contained within.

Ismene took solid damage this round, but made a net gain down the field. Used a pretty sizable chunk of energy, breathing heavily. Grass is gone.

Ba'al's side took a huge hit this round, pushed back to nearly midfield. Feels fresh.
