UPN PASBL: Concept vs Kush

And then this happened. So, Kush and Concept. Two Brits who were not long ago vying to employ me. And then they ended up employing me a different way. World's crazy like that.

SSBB: Hyrule Temple

SSBB: Hyrule Temple (Advanced Outdoor Custom Arena): The Hyrule Temple stage from Super Smash Bros Brawl (or Melee). The arena is identical to that found on the game(s). Ancient temple walls and foundations litter the landscape. Many crevasses and crannies criss cross the battered landscape. By mystical means, the arena levitates in mid air. Should pokémon be knocked clear of the arena's edge, they are considered automatically knocked out, though will be instantly rescued by trained Flying types and returned to their trainers. Refs and battlers should use common sense when adapting the arena for three dimensional use, but in general, there is plenty of space for pokémon to move about. In place of the ability to drop down through platforms, there are various holes and cracks in the arena's structures which can be traversed.
Special Rules: Midday, Terrain edge (abyss), Items (low) (Beam Sword, Home Run Bat, Fan, Bunny Hood, Metal Box).
Item Special Rules: Items will infrequently appear in the arena and may be picked up and used by any pokémon that could feasibly do so. Beam Swords will deal decent damage to opponents. Home Run Bats will deal decent damage to opponents, but should the target be at less than 1/4 health, the user may choose to put extra effort in to the swing; this takes a few seconds, but results in a powerful attack that sends opponents flying regardless of size differences. Fans deal only light damage per hit but are so light and irritating that several hits may be strung together in a single move as with Double Slap; the fan works like Astonish and can be used to stun opponents. Putting on a Bunny Hood grants users an automatic Agility boost and enhanced jumping ability, at no extra energy cost. Activating a Metal Box grants users an automatic Harden boost and doubles their weight, at no energy cost. All items will be knocked off if the user is struck by an attack of heavy power or greater.
Well. Isn't that a fun arena. For items I'll be RNGing at the end of each round for the items to appear the following round. If you two would rather have it done another way just say something.

We should all get how theis works by now. Start us with a squad 'Cept.

Dude my Jimmy Saville impression could get me arrested you were supposed to keep this quiet.

Level 5:

Turner the Kingler (Male)
Kingler: (Water) Kingler can swim, but prefers to walk along the bottom of the water instead of swim in it. Kingler uses its pincers based on the attack: attacks that are quicker and more precise use its smaller claw, while the most powerful attacks take advantage of its powerful claw, which can crush almost anything. Krabby and Kingler can easily move side to side, but have difficulty walking forwards and backwards.
No sig.

Geno the Electivire (Male)
Electivire (Electric): Electivire is able to use its tails to channel Electric attacks. Direct contact with the foe using its tails will give a slight boost in the chance of paralysis for the attack and will make paralysis in the contact area far more likely.
Geno grew up in a troubled area of London. In order to try and stop people joining gangs, lots of community projects were set up in the area. One such project was a youth boxing club. It was here that Geno found his calling.
Geno was a pretty talented boxer, as it turned out. He was consistently near the top of the league. At first, he struggled due to his somewhat wild and reckless nature, as well as his tendency to flip put at the sight of red boxing gloves. However, he steadily became more and more disciplined, and no longer reacts to the colour red. However, he still feels the anger inside, he's just gotten better at controlling and directing it.
Whilst in the boxing league, he was repeatedly humiliated by a Kangaskhan, Khan. Adding insult to injury, Will then stole Geno's girlfriend and had him beat up and thrown out of town. This has, understandably, left him righteously pissed.

Signature Move: Berserker (Fighting)
Geno no longer reacts to the colour red. However, like all members of his species he still possesses berserker tendencies. At the cost of 1.5 belly drums worth of energy, he may take a few seconds to psyche himself up with memories of his great rival. When done, he will scream "KHAAAAAAAAN!" at the top of his voice, shaking his fist at the heavens, and enter his species characteristic rage which will last until his opponent is defeated. If he's interrupted partway through the psyching up, he will enter a partial rage. Once per battle.

Janeway the Venusaur (Female)
Venusaur (Grass/Poison): Venusaur is the fastest of the Bulbasaur family: however, it is the heaviest, and it lacks the agility of its lower evolutions. It is also incapable of standing on its hind legs, which means it has more trouble executing moves like Earthquake. Venusaur have multiple vines, which means they can hit and grab multiple things with their Vine Whip attacks.
Janeway grew up in a mysterious forest in a faraway land. Local legend has it that those who entered were plagued by evil visions and wandered for days before finding their way out with only patchy memories - when they come out at all. Deciding to check it out for myself, I went in. I remember little of what transpired there and wish I remembered even less, but when I recovered I found I'd caught a brand new pokemon.

Signature Move: Special Spore (Grass)
It turns out that the effects of the forest are caused by a move unique to the local grass pokemon. It works like sleep powder, except instead of causing sleep it causes confusion. Pokemon that don't breathe are unaffected, and the exact extent of the effects depends on how much of the powder they breathe in. Usual confusion rules apply with regards to diminshing returns and mental buffering of the effects, etc etc.

Jarvis the Krookodile (Male)
Krookodile: (Ground/Dark) Krokorok have a dark membrane covering their eyes, acting like “sunglasses” to protect them from bright light and sandstorms. They are somewhat resistant to light-based attacks as a result and can see well in bright sunlight. Their eyes also can adjust and focus to act like binoculars, allowing for better accuracy and to see things at a great distance.
No sig.

Matriarch the Altaria (Female)
Altaria: (Dragon/Flying) Altaria's song-based attacks are slightly more effective than normal. On a cloudy day it can be sightly difficult to see in the air as well.

No sig.

Prometheus the Typhlosion (Male)
Typhlosion (Fire): Typhlosion is the fastest of the Cyndaquil family, but the least agile. Cyndiquil, Quilava, and Typhlosion can control whether their flames are ignited at any one time. When not ignited, they take less damage from water attacks, as there is no flame for the water to hit. However, they cannot use any fire attacks if their fire is not ignited. Igniting gives them their normal weakness to water, but allows them to use fire attacks. Igniting does not count as a move, and happens automatically when the Pokémon is ordered a fire attack. However, de-igniting counts as a move. They will automatically de-ignite if they fall asleep.
No sig.

I imagine there's some kind of law saying I have to post these first three. Ta Kus, good luck Concept, next time stick to wearing stupid outfits no?

Chunky (Level 5 male Hariyama); Chunky was always sensitive about his weight, wondering if it was the reason all the girl Makuhita were ignoring him because of it. He used to make himself feel better with the Wii that he had for some reason, endlessly beating his enemies online with Brawl and Wario, his favourite character. Then one day he realized that the reason that the girls were ignoring him was because he wasn't joining in with all of the Makuhita games and beating the crap out of his friends. He resolved to change his ways, forever putting away the Cheetos and chocolate milkshakes of his youth. But one thing remained with him from those heady days; Wario is oddly aerial for a fat guy. Chunky is gay, meaning that moves such as Attract work if used by male pokémon, not female.
Signature Trait: "One Two Jump"; After a bit of training, Chunky can double jump, just like the characters on Super Smash Bros. To do so, he jumps twice (counting as a single move), platformed by non damaging energy discharges that appear from his feet. Doing this costs the energy of two Agility dodges. He can jump up to twice his own height (measured from the top of his head). He will not be injured if he lands correctly, having practised hard, but if knocked off course will take a Psybeam's worth of recoil damage upon hitting the ground. Attacks like Body Slam which are used after a Double Jump do 10% more damage. Chunky is unable to use Fire Punch, as he spent the time he should of been learning it learning this new technique.

Mario (Level 5 male Poliwrath); Mario is one half of the amazing travelling circus known as 'Mario and Luigi's House of Japanese Imperialism'. He is never seen without his trademark red hat, except when battling, whereupon he leaves it on the sidelines while unleashing a can of whoopass on the opponent. Along with his brother, Luigi, Mario used to traverse the land, providing entertainment to many thousands of children over his life. Mario's favourite act was the mock bull fight, where he would entice an opponent to charge at him, whip out his cape and send them back the way they came. Small children used to love this act, delighting in running happily at Mario only to be flipped around. Now older, Mario no longer has a real cape, but since joining my team has remembered what he used to do with rose tinted eyes on many occasions. With a little practice, Mario has learned to create a cape from energy and use it to redirect opposing pokémon.
Signature Move: "Deflector Cape" (Normal); Summoning energy equal to a Thunderbolt, Mario creates a cape out of Normal type energy and sWings it in an elaborate twist. The cape is about a metre squared in size and, should a good part of it come into contact with a pokémon of similar or lesser height than Mario, that pokémon will become enveloped for a moment before reappearing, facing the opposite direction. This does not interrupt attacks but rather causes them to miss. For example, were a pokémon to attempt a punching move on Mario, he would use his Deflector Cape and turn them around, whereupon they would punch the air. Were they using a projectile attack, the same would happen. Deflector Cape can be used on attacks like Tackle but the timing must be perfect as this is much harder to pull off if the pokémon is some distance away. Creating the cape only takes a second, and the cape fades immediately after use. This move may be used only once per battle.

Luigi (Level 5 male Politoed); Luigi is one half of the amazing travelling circus known as 'Mario and Luigi's House of Japanese Imperialism'. Never seen without his trademark green hat, like his brother he only takes it off to do battle. Luigi loved the travelling circus business, loving the people he saw and the children he entertained. Luigi's favourite act was the one where he was fired out of a cannon into a tiny pool of water. He always loved the thrill of flying through the air, relishing in the feeling of being higher than anyone else. Unable to use his fold up cannon now that he resides with me, Luigi worked hard to make himself skilled enough to mimic the effects. The result of his work is a little erratic, but sometimes it works wonderfully and brings great joy to anyone watching.
Signature Move: "Green Missile" (Normal/Fire); When Luigi is ordered to use Skull Bash, there is a 10% chance that instead of Skull Bash occurring, Green Missile will occur. This results in him hurtling through the air at great speed, surrounded by an enlarged aura that, for some reason, is on fire. The increase in speed and change in aura means that this attack deals 1.5x the damage of a normal Skull Bash, at 1.25x the energy. Half of this damage is Normal typed while the other half is Fire typed, thus meaning that upon completion Luigi is considered to have used up all his Fire energy. When Green Missile occurs, Luigi takes 25% recoil damage upon impact. Use of Green Missile is both random and involuntary (he cannot be ordered to use Green Missile and cannot choose whether or not to do it), but can only occur once per battle.

Tilly (Level 5 female Steelix); Tilly was always happier as an Onix, feeling more comfortable with her rocky attacks and rocky hide than with a shiny and conspicuous coat of metal. Sadly, the metagame of the ASB (4x weaknesses are bad) forced her to grow up, confront her insecurities and evolve into a more powerful and less vulnerable form. Though now a Steelix, she never quite lost her attachment to the Rock type, missing her ability to spam rock moves until the day is done. Her defensive mindset is somewhat hindered by Gamefreak's desire to make their defensive behemoths a dead weight, necessitating a strategic shift towards controlling an opponent's movements in order to protect herself. For this reason, she has developed a move which taps in to her slow and steady nature. This allows her to strike with her massive frame and win the day.
Signature Move: "Mud Pies" (Ground); Using significant energy, Tilly launches bomblets of energy imbued mud to surround the opponent. Some of these explode immediately, while others settle on the terrain ready to strike at new pokémon in a manner similar to Stealth Rock. When Mud Pies explode, they slow the target down significantly in a much stronger version of Mud Shot's secondary effect. Slowdown is related only to travel across the ground, and targets may still attack at will with moves which do not require fleet of foot. Targets will also take mud to the eyes and experience a drop in their accuracy as if they had been hit by Muddy Water. Mud Pie's effects lasts a round or so. For the effects to work, target pokémon must be standing on the ground; high flying pokémon will not be affected. This attack deals no damage. Tilly cannot use Earth Power, Flash Cannon or Giga Impact.

Stone (Level 5 male Forretress); Stone rocks. A native of Johto, he spent much of his formative life rolling around Ilex forest, singing songs and butting trees. His warm glow made everyone around him feel good and his strong defences kept him going when things got rough. What he lacks in battling experience, he makes up for in enthusiasm and red hot defence. His characteristic sturdiness is due in part to his heritage as a behemoth, and due in part to his constant fiery spirit and vigour. Stone is hot stuff.
Signature Trait: "Hot Stuff"; Stone projects a low level field of Fire typed energy at all times. This requires no energy to maintain, but when Stone is struck by a Fire typed move, it flares up to act as a buffer. Thus, when Fire typed moves hit Stone, they deal only 2x damage. Owing to limited Fire typed reserves, however, this only works twice during a match. Thus, the first two Fire typed moves which strike Stone during a match will deal 2x damage, while all subsequent Fire attacks will deal 4x damage as normal.

Mrs Toad (Level 5 female Seismitoad); Mrs Toad is the estranged wife of the infamous dandy Mr Toad, said individual being the wealthy occupant and owner of the famous Toad Hall. Mrs Toad is, unlike her husband, humble, selfless and extremely down to Earth. Her qualities as a lovely individual are matched only by her abilities on the battlefield, which is why I invited her to come travelling with me upon rescuing her from her husband's attempt to fly using a bamboo biplane. Mrs Toad has forever had to deal with her husband's ridiculous hobbies, such as motor cars and flying machines. Her exasperation with her husband led to her developing an exceptional skill for shooting down her husband's airborne contraptions and stopping Toad in his tracks.
Signature Trait: "Anti Air"; Mrs Toad's Mud Shot attack deals Major damage to opponents who can be classed as 'fliers'. This includes birds, flying insects, pokémon such as Baltoy or Dragonair and others, but does not include Flying types who cannot fly such as Gyarados. Adapted for anti air warfare, her Mud Shot deals only Moderate damage to opponents that do not count as 'fliers'. Mrs Toad's Mud Shot uses 'Signaturenificant' energy at all times.

This is not a well designed squad. Stone, start us off on the central plaza. Apparently you're broken!

On opposite sides of Hyrule Temple's central plaza the battlers appear from some magical spark things. On one side, Concept: Water GL, Britpacker and notorious eyepatch wearer. His opponent, Kush/Mercutio: Normal GL, fellow Britpacker and (another fact). Neither wastes a second, calling out their first battlers as their feet hit the ground. Kush's Pokeball bounces a bit before cracking open and releasing Stone, a Forretress. Seeming to prefer an interesting matchup to an easy one, Concept releases Matriarch, a motherly (if the name is any given) Altaria. No Pokemon has the distinct advantage so we'll just have to see how things turn out.

Quote:
Altaria (Dragon/Flying):*Altaria's song-based attacks are slightly more effective than normal. On a cloudy day it can be sightly difficult to see in the air.

Forretress (Bug/Steel):*Forretress is almost completely covered by its shell, reducing damage from all attacks. However, it is almost completely immobile. Forretress have a natural levitation ability, and move rather well in the air, although they are not the fastest.
As they're both pretty fresh and neither is doing a move that requires a move of any particular charge time, the first orders happen just about simultaniously. With the future on her mind Matriarch begins boosting up her body with some of her natural Dragon energy. Her cloud-like wings guide her in a graceful Dance, seemingly in celebration of the battle ro come. Stone, one the other hand, is making less peaceful preperations. From his mysterious innards, the bagworm focuses his Rock energy into thr ground beneath him. Stone's eyes narrow, as if he were giving a sly smile, as rocks rise from the earth, striking the fragile flier before Stealthily retreating away, waiting for the next Pokemon to arrive. Matriarch regains here composure and opens here beak to let out an annoyed screech. With a wingbeat, the dragon-bird sends a gust of Air at her foe. Resilient as he is, Stone endures the wind but finds it hurting more than anticipated. Sharp pockets of the gale Cut into Stone, bring him to about even health with is enemy.

Results
Matriarch got stung by that hit but is still pretty well off in the health department. Her energy use wasn't bad at all and the tanks are quite full. Boost to Attack and Speed.

Stone took a bit of damage, his SC buffering the damage a bit and keeps him higher than Matriarch in health. His energy use was also slightly less than Matriarch's. Rock energy is a bit below midway.

Kush.

Great job, Stone. Now use new style Autotomize (which took me two attempts to spell) and a Secret Power!

So, very UU orders this round. Good job fellas.

Stone kicks off this odd round by carefully positioning himself towards the ground. He begins spinning fiercely, his steel hide grinding against the stone platform of the temple. As he turns back towards Matriarch, Stone seems almost faster or something. Probably due to Autotomizing his body. (Fuck that word. Being all hard to use in a sentence.) Altaria gives a bit of a confused stare, wary of what this new development may entail. Thinking it is obviously some sort of defensive boost, the cloud-bird-dragon begins a move that she hopes will put an advantage on her side. A Wonderful wave of energy bursts out from Matriarch, casting all of the arena is a rainbow glow. The strange Room created by this move will be switching the Defense and Special Defense of the battlers for 5 turns. Whatever that's worth.

The second orders from each side are much more normal and far easier to describe and use in sentences. Stone's already pink shell begins to glow even pinker. With a cry of his species name, the Forretress releases a beam of Secret Powers. Not liking the looks of the attack, Matriarch begins.... flying right towards it. However, at the last second, she jerks up, the beam barely clipping her wingtip for very minor amounts of damage. Continuing the looping path, Matriarch swoops down to rake her claws across Stone's body, as if she were Plucking a berry. The bird returns to a reasonable height as the round closes.

Results
Matriarch took negligible damage and isn't much further from where she was at last round. Her energy dipped a bit down closer to the threshold of the second quarter. Psychic is below half.

Stone is now below Matriarch in health, if only slightly. He used some energy and is a fair way above Matriarch.

Ok. I suck. Due to this, I'm keeping this short for to make things not take forever anymore.

And the break is over. Matriarch looks to celebrate being in a now unforgotten match by glowing all white-blue with happiness. Or flying energy. Either way something is getting hurt. At the same time, Stone begins charging up something of his own. The Altaria reaches her max charge and dives down from the Sky to Attack the Forretress. He attempts some evasive maneuvers, but doesn't manage to escape all the damage. Despite taking damage, the bagworm manages to tuck, roll and fire off a Zap Cannon. The sphere of electric energy makes its way towards Matriarch, though her stabilizing after her last attack makes her flying a bit erratic which enables her to escape some damage from the assault. However, this comes at the cost of paralysis in her left wing. Luckily, she manages to come the ground somewhat softly instead of crash landing in a very painful way.

Results
Both Pokemon took a fair bit of damage this round and are sitting neck and neck in the health race. As far as energy goes, both are into the second quarter, with Stone having slightly more energy ready to go. They enjoyed the one mover, despite the high powered moves they used. Stone's Electric energy is about empty.

Kush.

In an effort to make the ref have many funny ideas of a cannon that shoots Forretress, Stone starts moving at his top speed towards Matriarch. His hopes are placed in a Body Slam which, should it connect, could be devastating to the Altaria. As the bagworm approaches, Matriarch closes her eyes and focuses her energy in a way that may save her. Just before contact is made, Matriarch wills a Safeguard into existance, the shiny white barrier forcing Stone into retreat. Still a bit dazed from slamming into a barrier that just suddenly appeared, Stone contemplates his next move. He decides not to try charging in again and instead focus on his upcoming foes. His mini-cannons each release a bit of Poison energy, these individual emissions soon coming together to form an orb. Within seconds, the orb seperates once again, energy splattering on the ground and leaving a fine layer of Toxic Spikes on the arena. Matriarch's prone position causes her to fall prey to the battle element, poisons now circulating through her system. This causes the thought of protection for her fellow teammates to cross her mind. She gathers a bit of Fire energy in her beak and chooses the move best suited for wide hits. She releases a stream of flame that quickly turns into a wide wall that advance forward, hitting Stone and Incinerating Toxic Spikes as it goes.

Results
Stone took the only damage this round, though it was less than it could've been thanks to his sig. He used a fair bit of energy. Poison is below half.

Matriarch went undamaged this round. Her energy use was fair and she's still about even with Stone. Fire dipped a bit.

After a bit of a wait, action in the Hyrule Temple begins once again. Matriarch kicks off the action by pouring energy into her claws, sharpening the weapons into virtual torture devices. With the agility of... something very agile, the Altaria swoops in and rakes her talons across Stone's shell as if Plucking berries off trees. Forretress reels a bit at this before spinning around to face his foe once more. With eyes full of hate, Stone gathers his energy into an aura with a similar hue as his shell. The Secret Power stays dormant for a moment before condensing into a beam aimed directly at Matriarch. The oncoming attack sends the cloud-bird's tactical mind into overdrive as she tries to find a way to avoid it. At the last second she chooses to make use of her remaining speed boost and manages to escape from a slight bit of the damage. Luckily, she avoids all status. Noticing this, Stone becomes evermore angry and decides he's tired of these flying shenanigans. A pulse of Psychic energy spreads across the temple grounds and increase the power of the Gravity surrounding the Pokemon. Matriarch, who had been watching for anymore oncoming attacks, soon finds it increasingly hard to stay airborne and, after a few seconds, she succumbs and comes crashing to the ground and being poisoned by the Toxic Spikes.

As the round closes, a series of pops is heard and items have arrived. Two Bunny Hoods, a Home Run Bat and a Metal Box will now be in play. Conveniently, I made a picture.
Spoiler: show

Red Arrow is the bat. Yellow Arrows are Bunny Hoods. Green Arrow is Metal Box. Blue Arrow is Matriarch. Purple Arrow is Stone.

Results
Stone has begun flirting with midway in health. Energy use was fairly high. Slowing down wouldn't be a bad idea but isn't absolutely needed at present. Much of his Psychic energy is gone.

Matriarch is still rather above Stone in health, though not by too big a margin. Energy use wasn't bad and she appreciated the one-move round. Poisoned.

Gravity is in play.

Kush.

One assumes that Gravity causes Matriarch to get poisoned by the Toxic Spikes?

Ta.

Stone, not too shabby, now roll on down towards that home run bat. Fire a Venoshock as you go. Hunker down behind that ledge.

Incidentally, Forretress can pick up items right?

Right.
