Relicanth Pokébowl 2011 - Elite Eight: Lonely Cubone VS. Kuno

Zorua: The Tricky Fox Pokémon.
Height: 2'04"
Weight: 27.6 lbs
Dark-type.
It changes into the forms of others to surprise them. Apparently, it often transforms into a silent child. To protect themselves from danger, they hide their true identities by transforming into people and Pokémon.

Lawn Arena
After a stall and a couple of advancing trainers vanishing, PokéBowl '11 eventually gets a kick up the arse and advances to the quarter-finals. With just 8 combatants left in the running, the heat's turning up as this one of four battles begins. After DQing Weebs, Kuno moves on to face fellow LO and Gym Leader, Elsie. With the Ground GL having himself vanquished Jeri, he's no pushover, and with this being a typically bad matchup there'll be plenty of push and shove. The rental Pokémon for this battle are a pair of Level 1 Female Zorua, and with a movepool lacking in self-harm this will test the skills of both trainers.

Having flipped a coin, Kuno will be ordering first after Round 1. Anyways, send in the PMs with your nicknames and orders, and we'll get this thing going.

Allons-y

Good god. Tdos, then Jeri, then Kuno. I'm earning my keep here, right?

Good luck Kuno, looking forwards to this as I haven't had a chance to battle you for a very long time...Will send a PM later.

Round 1: Making the most of what you've got

Right then. Pokébowl. Each side has the same Pokémon, resulting in mirror matches that may be obscenely fast to resolve or painfully slow. I suspect this match may contain the latter. Let's see what Elsie and Kuno have decided to do in this opening round, as the two little Dark-types materialse on the lawn...

Now, commence MAXIMUM OVERTROLL

Fake Tears to show how much you'd rather be frolicking merrily than battling. Use the distraction to Calm your Mind.

And it seems that both trainers have caught onto the fact that Zoruaeon HAS NO MOVES. From Elsie we get an a pesky individual, after a period of inactivity it seems that ZoruaJolteon has returned for another session of trolling. Kuno counters with Miracles, one of which he'll need to pull in order to make this match less draggy.

Dark-types can see in the dark. They prefer to fight at night, however light does not adversely affect them.
Miracles begins by rubbing her Claws together, Honeng their sharpness and her concentration, but while she's doing that she looks at her opponent. ZJ seems to be weeping at the prospect of fighting one of her own species, Tears flowing down her face. Seeing this sad display, Miracles halts her technique, feeling pity for her fellow fox. However, ZJ soon gets it together, her blubbery display having been Faked, and she manages to Calm her Mind, upping her special attacking power. Angered at being deceived, even though her very nature is inclined to it, Miracles lunges at her counterpart, venting her Fury as she Swipes at the opposing Zorua, slashing at ZJ for multiple hits straight off the bat.

ZJ's the only one to take damage so far, opening up a bit of a gap. Miracles used a tad more energy, but both are still fresh. Miracles has a slight Hone Claws boost, while ZJ's got a Calm Mind. They're close.

As decided by the RNG, Kuno orders first.

Not a problem at all, doubt we'll be the last match to finish in any case. Also your banner is beautiful.

I agree. Now, I shall reply using song lyrics, just to show you up

YOU SPIN ME ROUND BABY RIGHT ROUND

(I had more interesting orders, but Dave dissuaded me from them with all sorts of fun spoiling)

To be honest, when the question was "Can I set the whole arena on fire with Incinerate?", I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask. Now we have to have a boring battle with no horrible flaming death.

I'm with Kuno here. You're both bad and you should both field bad, to use the standard response.

Oh piss off Dave, you bombard your refs with a hundred questions every time you have orders to make.

Most of the questions I ask are for random ideas I've had that I only get to use months and matches later. I'm still sitting on quite a few.

At any rate, butting out now. You're big boys, I'll leave you to it :p.

Yes, like Embargoed Rock Tomb in this very Tournament, which you absolutely didn't ask me about before using at all. Try butting out before making a ridiculously hypocritical point in future.

In which I'll be told that it's ref's discretion and decide to ask the ref.

This goes on all the time. If there's something wrong with it then try writing that down somewhere and stopping 80% of the league doing it.

Don't really care that it happened, as much as you outright said it with your attacks. It just comes off as "lol ur fucked these attacks are ref approved".

Er...right. I didn't ask Dave anything at all to with the attacks posted, if that comforts you. I asked him if Incinerate would set the Lawn on fire, was told not really and so decided to do something else. As shallow as Zorua's movepool is, that is not a direct endorsement of the orders I ended up making.

(For what it's worth, asking about say, Embargoing a Rock Tomb, and then doing it, would be a much better example)

It's fine, it doesn't 8other me that much/I don't really care. It just came off as douchy. I mean you literally said he influenced your orders.

Yes, he did. As does every referee answering a clarification question, which happens all the time. Should it not?

Round 2: Mad rhymin' skillz

Well, assuming that's all sorted...

Keeping up the physical onslaught, Miracles brandishes her claws before Cutting at ZJ's face, the opposing Zorua taking some harsh damage from the sharpened move. Fortunately for her, she comes away without being critically hurt, and opens her mouth to release a Round of song, soundwaves traversing the short distance between the two, reverberating on Miracles' eardrums for some fair damage in response. Shaking off the caterwauling, the tenacious Dark-type coats herself in Flying energy, darting to the side of her opponent. ZoruaJolteon turns to follow, tracking her double's path, until Miracles jinks backward, causing ZJ to lose her. Cue Miracles slamming into her foe's back, having shown off her Aerial Ace skills, knocking ZJ forward. Smirking at landing her surprise blow, the illusionist is swift to wince once more, another Round blasting into her ears for another return blow.

Miracles took slightly greater damage there, but still holds a decent lead over ZJ, both on the road to the midpoint. Conversely, ZJ used a dint more energy and has a mild lead in that department, both still fighting fit.

Elsie.
