There's several rocks scattered across the sandfield, and a few palm trees here and there manage to mimic a desert setting perfectly.

From the borders of the structure rises a solid steel frame with it's window panes set in an hexagonal shape, enclosing the Arena within a crystal crear shield of solid, unbreakable glass. The frame is 12 meters high, and features various large spinning fans on the edges of the rectangle, as well as a few other fans scattered across the ceiling, which generate fierce winds that can disturb Flying Type Pokemon's abilities while up in the air. These fans keep hot air circling through the Arena in order to simulate the usual temperatures of a desert setting during the day. As a way to add a special touch to the Arena, there's a 25% chance each Round the fans' speed will pick up, and whip up a fierce sandstorm that will last one Round, severely reducing visibility and blocking most light from entering te Arena.

The Arena's temperature sits at a firm 40°C, making most Water and Ice Types not familiar with the Arena uncomfortable in this setting. Finally, there's a fair few sand castles, about five or six, scattered all around the Arena. These sand castles are about 6 meters high, and are made of compressed sand, and serve as fair cover, being able to witstand a Solid blow before crumbling to dust. The Gym's sand is quite special, being easy to dig through, but easily allowing shockwaves and Energy to pass, allowing Pokemon to perform Ground Moves unhindered by the usual limitations of normal sand.
James, give us yer squad.

Posting from Laptop. Room's being cleaned, so let's roll.

Good Luck `Cept, although I'll be the one that needs it.

Level 1:
Rhyhorn

Swinub

Gligar

Numel
Special Training: Starting Dash (XX)
While Annika may not be exceptionally bright, she has become more cheerful than the standard Numel. Thanks to this boost in morale, Numel's Species Characteristic which neutralizes her initiative is negated, allowing her to attack as quickly as a normal Pokemon would. Annika also has figured a way to easily remember her commands, allowing her to perform her attacks without hindrances from Numel's Species Characteristics. However, Annika has forgotten the moves Return, Frustration, Sunny Day, Substitute, Defense Curl, Endure and Snore. This increase in her abilities, however, does not affect her resistance to Mind - Affecting Moves.

Cubone

Stunfisk

Names to be added shortly. Cheers, Dave. Let this not be too much of a massacre.

EDIT: I AM using their Sigs. They'll be added soonish.

Level 1:

Luna the Oddish (Female)
Oddish: (Grass/Poison) Oddish spreads its seeds at night. While it cannot see completely in the dark, it sees better than most in low-light conditions.
No sig.

Joshamee Gibbs the Tirtouga (Male)
Tirtouga: (Water/Rock) Tirtouga’s shell is rock hard. Physical attacks targeted at it will be quite reduced in strength. Though a fairly good swimmer, it has some trouble on land, only able to shuffle about with its flippers.
No sig.

Denzel the Scraggy (Male)
Scraggy: (Dark/Fighting) The yellow portion around its lower body which resemble pants are actually a shed skin which is very thick and rubbery. This skin can be used as defense, reducing damage from attacks when pulled up over its torso.

No sig.

Garland the Phanpy (Male)
Phanpy: (Ground) Its leathery skin acts as treads for when Phanpy is performing a Rollout, thus giving it better traction (and accuracy) when using a Rollout attack. Like all elephants, Phanpy are sure-footed, even though they cannot see their own feet.
No sig.

Shin Fu the Monferno (Male)
Monferno: (Fire/Fighting) When threatened, Monferno increases the size of its flame to appear larger then it really is in order to intimidate its oppponent. If a Pokemon would reasonably be afraid of Monferno, said Pokemon will be slightly less effective in battle.
Shin Fu is a Funky Monk-y dude from a monastary far away that emphasises teamwork as the means to breaking their opponents, the theory going that an opponent too broken to move is an opponent defeated. Since joining my team his amazing ability to balance his allies strengths and weaknesses along with his magnetic personality has made him something of a leader amongst my pokemon, much to the annoyance of Alexander, my Blastoise, widely accepted as el capitan of my gym squad. Even when stuck alone in a fight, Shin Fu relies on the abilities of his teammates to win a battle.

Signature Move: Brofist (Various)
Brofist functions much like the elemental punches in terms of energy, damage and delivery. When Shin Fu is sent out, he may select one type held by another member of my squad of six. Brofist is this type for the remainder of the match. He can use it twice per battle, even if he wouldn't normally have access to sufficient type energy. However, if he uses this type of energy for other attacks he will not retain the energy needed for two punches.

Mariah the Remoraid (Female)
Remoraid: (Water) Remoraid is a fish Pokemon, so it is almost helpless on land. It has excellent accuracy, and its attacks have a greater chance of hitting.
No sig.

Mr Gibbs!

EDIT the first: Hang on let me look up their sigs, might change my team.

Emil, my friend, you're up. Let us show him how good Stunfisk are, even if mostly immobile. Well, actually, we're on quite even ground here.

Thunderbolt to begin hostilities. Follow with a Hidden Power.

Relicanth Round 1: Stranded

So for some reason both trainers are using Pokémon that find themselves much more at home in water. Brb phoning RSPCA.

Emil crackles, lancing off a Thunderbolt toward his opponent. Gibbs takes the attack, gritting his beak as his flippers slam the sand, a Rock Tomb swiftly rising around his flatfish foe. Emil is all stuck and shiz, meaning he can't find a target for his Hidden Power. Also Earthquake and shockwaves and collapsing rocks and junk. Good thing Emil is already flat!

Emil's a little lower on health, both into the second quarters. Gibbs used slightly more energy. Ground energy still enough for a 'quake and a bit because Rock-type. Emil's under debris.

My parents suck so dinner is now. Back soonish though!

Prepare him a water pulse to strike the moment you have a clean shot. Protect if he tries to attack.

You're a Ground Type, this is sand. Dig to escape from the debris and hopefully score a good hit. Then trap HIM in a Rock Tomb.

Round 2: Sand swimming

Gibbs watches and waits, while Emil furiously Digs through the sand, forcing his body through the sediment to escape his predicament. Gibbs doesn't see the Stunfisk coming, and gets hit for some pretty poor damage on the carapace. However, he's able to get his Water Pulse in for a return shot of damage, lessened thanks to Stunfisk's SC. Backing off a bit, Emil summons a Rock Tomb of his own around the chelonian, trapping him within.

Gibbs took negligable damage and is in a Rock Tomb. Emil used the greater energy and is just under his foe while also being just under half health.

An Earthquake will do for now. Send in a Thunderbolt as soon as you get a clear shot. Otherwise, Camouflage. Hide whatever you cannot change under the sand.

Hopefully you got a good idea where he shuffled of you whilst you were sitting around doing nothing, so bide it back at him.

I seriously considered instead using protect and earthquake, but decided I'm not that nice. Also you have access to massive amounts of typespam and I didn't want to run the risk :p. Sorry! (If this works anyway).

Round 3: SM, log out of Concept's account

Slapping his caudal fin to the ground, Emil generates an Earthquake. Gibbs gets rocked for quite a bit of damage, but he's Bideng his time as the rocks fall around him. This extra damage pushes his aura over the edge, and as the rocks slide down his shell he smiles at his aggressor, firing his beam into the Electric-type for masses and masses of damage back.

Emil is unable to battle!

Gibbs is nearing his final health quarter and half energy after that display. He'll be a little breathy next round.

That Bide caught me off guard. Return Emil. Good job. Baldren, my Cubone, the stage is yours.

Earthquake to hopefully bring this to a close. Follow with an AncientPower if it wasn't enough.

Round 4: "I smell something fishy..."

Baldrick Baldren the Cubone is last up for Kratos!

Earthquake happens, but Gibbs is able to survive by the skin of his teeth. The Tirtouga uses Earthquake too for some significant damage. But then Ancient Power.

Gibbs is unable to battle!

Significant damage to Baldren and extreme energy use but it's early days yet.

Oh wait Cubone isn't ground weak because it's not Stunfisk.

Derp. Ah well, good job Mr Gibbs. Luna, let's go. Solarbeam and teeter dance.

Let's try this. Sandstorm to block the Sunlight, then Dig to avoid the Teeter Dance. The strong winds should assist you in knocking him off his performance.

ALSO, please note this isn't in Sunny Day.

Round 5: Sand

Luna comes out to play! Whooo!

She starts charging her Solarbeam, but as Kratos notes this arena isn't actually in bright sunlight for some reason. Baldren starts up a Sandstorm, but as a Grass-type Luna's still on the lower end of the chargan spectrum, meaning she fires as the Cubone is in the middle of his spinnyspiness. PAIN! Also not much sand gets kicked up due to disruption. Luna then starts to Teeter Dance, but Baldren simply looks down as he Digs into the sand, popping up to strike the plant for a considerable blow.

Baldren's now near half health. Energy use was pretty good from both sides, Luna with the lead. They're close.

Kratos.

Round 6: Shboop

With them being close, Baldren inhales to start up a Fire Blast, but gets a puff of Sleep Powder in the face as he does so, shutting him down easily. Luna's free to capitalise, lancing off a Solarbeam after a short charge time, zapping the Cubone for some nasty damage. In revenge, he slams into the Grass-type with an Iron Head, but eats some Seed Bombs in response, which deals the killing blow.

Baldren is unable to battle, leaving Kratos with no usable Pokémon remaining! Concept and Luna win the match!

Concept wins by KO and receives 2 KOs and 4 TP
KratosAurion receives 2 TP
DaveTheFishGuy receives 2.5 SP for fast reffings

Good match guys. James, watch out for Bide, and don't blow limited typespam going first.

Thanks for using the DaveTFG Reffing Service.

"A great match from both Trainer's part, but Kratos' mistakes, I don't know where to start..."

"It was still a good match, look for Kratos to be on his watch, as his Gym Squad's almost ready, a Gym Battle be certain to catch." Said a certain Professor as she left the Arena.

Regardless, it served the prupose. Good Battle 'Cept. Regarding the rhymes, I felt I had to close with some FF Reference. I have picked my personal favourite from FF XI, let us see if you can catch who is it.

Can't say I recognise the quotes having not played XI - mmorpgs never really appealed. Thanks for the match, and thanks for reffing as always Dave.
