With his foe a little out of it, Christiaan takes the opportunity to use Curse, bulking up in exchange for a bit of Speed. Why, Gamefreak, why? Using this new found power, he paddles hard and launches a Skull Bash, dealing nice damage to Firion. free of confusion, the Poison type is able to use Sludge Wave to deal some return damage to Christiaan, leaving a lot of poison floating around in the pool that Christiaan may wish to evade. The round ends with Firion sneaking in a Confuse Ray, which apparently Tentacool gets through breeding for some reason.

Tentacruel whims... rising

Damage for both, Christiaan now a little below 'perfect' health while Firion is now at 3/4. Christiaan is Cursed and confused, and there's poison in the water.

I think 'toed should be resisting the watery parts of sludge wave as it's poison/water, plus I think that like most watery moves it's reduced by defensive boosts like curse. Also Tentacruel is awesome and you should get one.

"Amnesia, then psychic to counter the sludge wave."

Amnesia has a new fangled description, just so y'know.

> Implying Christiaan did not partially resist Sludge Wave

the tab;es are now turned, and Firion is able to use his foe's mental incapacity to ramp up his stats. He goes for the far more offensive Swords Dance, however, upping his attack quite significantly. Christiaan isn't entirely idle, however, using Amnesia to forget the more unsavoury elements of the battle. As it happens this mainly involved mentally bleaching the image of that fat guy over there doing lunges, but at least it clears up the confusion kind of a bit. What clears the rest of the confusion is a Sludge Wave, courtesy of Firion. However, partially due to the existing sludge, this leaves Christiaan poisoned! He croaks in discomfort, launching a Psychic blast that slams into Firion for great damage.

Firion is now below 1/2 by a small amount healthwise, with energy doing ok. Boosted.

Christiaan is now at the midpoint of -perfect' and 3/4 health and poisoned. Energy usage was quite good. He could probably pull off a mostly there Psychic.

Sludge wave is only significant, yet with partial resist + curse defence boost, one was enough to pull me from "a little below perfect" to "a smallish bit over 3/4's"?

Anyways, skull bash and mud shot.

Perhaps I'm simply misunderstanding the new scale. What is significant supposed to be? Thunderbolt? Thunder?

he should be slow coming in, so wrap your tentacles around his appendages and hold him facing out. Poison jab to his back after, maintaining your grip.

Christiaan lowers his head, preparing a Skull Bash. As predicted by Deebs, this is a little slow, thus giving time for Firion to Wrap his tentacles around the toad's body. There are enough of them to cease the momentum and hold Christiaan, just, but the aura of the attack deals fair damage to Firion, who has to use fair energy to achieve his plan. Christiaan forgoes firing his second attack, unable to aim clearly. Firion, however, is able to launch a Poison Jab, stabbing in to Christiaan with precision as the poison starts to take its toll.

Christiaan is in trouble, down below 3/4 and held up. Energy usage was good.

Firion used more energy and is at the midpoint between 1/2 and 1/4.

"Maintain your grip, your boost should help. Venoshock, though if he gets away, chase him with a Skull Bash. Supersonic."

EDIT: This could read as a three. Venoshock if he sticks around and Skull Bash if he flees, Supersonic always at the end.

Lovely kiss whatever you can reach. Then direct contact earthquake while it's all dazed or asleep, and an uproar for the road, preferably timed to counter supersonic.

Three.

So reffing and stuff.

Firion, with his foe entangled pretty good, sacrifices his initiative to see whether Christiaan can escape his tentacled foe. Christiaan writhes in pain, but his Cursed up muscles get the kick they need to wrest him off and around, his Lovely Kiss sending Firion... nowhere, the attack's fail rate kicking in. Ohhhh shit. into a drowsy state since apparently I should learn to read the new descriptions.

This state of affairs leads to Firion lulling about for a moment before deciding to use Skull Bash, ramming in to Christiaan for some obscene damage. Simultaneously, the toad croaks, using Earthquake to send an equally nasty amount of damage back at the jelly. Sadly for Firion, it's pretty effective, leaving him looking pretty the worse for wear. He aint dead though, and he manages to use Supersonic to addle Christiaan's brain. Christiaan warbles tiredly, trying to remember his orders. He knows he has to use a three mover, he knows it should be pretty noisy. Upchuck? chunderroar? Uproar?

Poison damage.

Firion is unable to battle

Christiaan is looking bad, below 1/2 health by a good amount. Poison is at full effect and his damn tired. A full EQ is off the cards. Not below 1/2 energy but that isn't far off.

Bide if you can before thunder, otherwise just a dive to dodge the psychic and strike. End with seed bomb.

So, after a round of crippling typespam,. it's time for Deebs to bring out his Starmie, Cyril, one of my personal favourite gun platform pokémon. Revenge, perhaps? With a sig like that he'll be deflecting a few attacks anyway. With Christiaan both tired-ish and confused, Cyril has no problems in prepping and firing a Thunder, the attack arching up and zapping many many volts in to Christiaan. While the starfish takes fair recoil, it seems that Christiaan doesn't have the stamina to hold on, fainting by the barest of margins to give some sweet revenge to Team Deebs.

Christiaan is unable to battle

Cyril is a good bit below perfect health owing to recoil. The majority of Electric energy is gone, try a Shock Wave or half decent Thunderbolt.

So, new out for Concept is Alexander the Blastoise, making this a battle between two Gen I pokémon I have already. Yeahhhh.

Alexander starts but using Skull Bash, charging energy and swimming forwards to strike at Cyril. The starfish begins to levitate, heading upwards at a good pace. Launching himself, Alexander leaps and strikes at Cyril for a reduced hit, before plopping back down in to the pool with a splash. Cyril no takes a moment to work out exactly what its orders mean, deciding to use Psychic since the Blastoise is on the surface. The pause gives Alexander the chance to use Roar. This doesn't really scare Cyril too much, but does leave it a little wary of entering Alexander's reach any time soon, the Psychic being a little underpowered because of that.

Alexander is at the perfect-3/4 midpoint, while Cyril is a little above 3/4 health. Energy usage was about the same, with neither hitting 3/4 yet. Cyril is floating a few metres up.
