Chansey UPN PASBL: Gym Trainer Match; Concept vs TBH1313

Making his way causally into the gym arena, a young man eyes his surroundings rather worriedly. “Um...” he paused briefly as he examines the highly advanced computer technology. “Well...alright. Welcome to the Angelic Layer, a computer formed arena so advanced that, well, I'd never heard of it before accepting this request. Shows how unadvanced we are. Today we have the second Gym Trainer match of Mozz's gym, and after a great success, the Mozz representative seems to be raring to go. The statistics and arena description are as follows.”

The Gym is based off of Angelic Layer in that it is a computer-generated arena which uses futuristic technology to generate battlefields in which Pokemon. The area itself is about a quarter mile in diameter, as this Layer was created for Pokemon, not battle angels. The computer is able to generate weather as well, so moves which manipulate it will work in any arena in which the move would normally work. The height of the battle arena will be approximately 500 ft, and a maximum depth under "sea level" of 100ft. The boundary of the area is a standard Space-Age forcefield. No energy or matter can enter or leave the arena.

Normal Arena: Modified Clay Arena*
The entire arena becomes a clay battlefield. Where the two Pokemon are released, as well as interspersed among the arena, are pools lined with concrete measuring about 50ft in diameter. Weather: Daytime, partly cloudy, 72F.*

Dark Arena: Midnight Plains*
The arena is morphed into an African savannah. Long grass covers the plain, and a few trees are scattered around. Weather: Midnight, Full Moon, no clouds, 50F.*

Psychic Arena: Overcast at Dusk
The clouds cover the arena, which has an eerie gray tint to it. It's sorta dark, but all Pokemon can easily see. The ground is made out of a bunch of large rocks, like the bottom of a quarry. This makes for an interesting battle, no? Weather: Dusk, Cloudy, 60F.

Fighting Arena: Madison Square Garden
The arena is transformed into the inside of one of the most famous arenas in the world. The stage is a normal sized boxing ring, with a computer generated crowd surrounding them. The crowd will respond as normal to a match, rooting for one competitor or the other as usual. The entire battle must take place inside the boxing ring. If an opponent is sent out of the ring, the match will stop until the Pokemon is back inside, then the CG referee will resume the fight, and then disappear. Weather: N/A.

Ghost Arena: Graveyard
The huge plot of land is turned into a Graveyard. Headstones made of solid concrete rest on a grass field. The arena turns pitch black, even the moon itself is too scared to appear.. Weather: Nighttime, No light at all, 50F.

Rock Arena: Steaming Quarry
The arena changes, this time to a gigantic quarry. The ground is dirt, but there's a good 30ft of rocks of varying sizes before you can get there. Weather: Noon, Sunny, 105F.

Ground Arena: Ancient Cave
The scene shifts to an underground lair. Dry and dirty, the cave is made out of a sturdy rock, which is 50ft deep. There is only one entrance and exit to the cave besides digging, and that is via the pond all the way in the back. Diving underneath the pond will eventually lead the Pokemon outside to a grass field. Otherwise, inside the cave is a ceiling which is 3 stories high, with some stalagmites and stalagtites around. In the water, some Omanyte and Kabuto swim, but they don't cause a threat, really. Weather: Low light, 50F.

Water Arena: The Pond
The arena fills with water, as the scene changes to a deep ocean. The height of the water extends past the normal level of the other arenas, allowing the ocean to be approximately 500ft deep. The water temperature will be reasonably warm, but get cooler as the depth increases. Underwater, a few Pokemon swim, but passive ones like Mantine and Remoraid. They won't get in the battle though. The bottom of the arena is sand, with some rocks and Shellder. Weather: Air: 95F. Water: <80F.

Electric Arena: Thunderstorm Field
The Layer morphs to a grass field with a large, deep pool in the middle. The grass is cut low, so it shouldn't get in the way. The weather is what makes this arena great, as a torrential downpour starts up, complete with moderate winds and random lightning far away. Claps of thunder can be heard quite well, and they might startle battlers. Weather: Daytime, overcast, torrential thunderstorm, 60F.

Fire Arena: Lava
The scene changes to Blaine's Gym, or at least a reasonable facsimile. The field is the top of a volcano, with several pillars in a large sea of molten lava. The weather is perfect for fire type Pokemon, as it's a gorgeous, although ridiculously hot, day. Weather: Sunny, 115F.

Flying Arena: Sokoni Soraga Arukara
If anyone has seen the intro to Pocket Monsters: Advanced Generation, they'll know this arena from the final scene with Absolu. Above the clouds rest several small pillars which Pokemon can rest on. If a Pokemon falls underneath the clouds, they will only fall another 20 ft (Thank God for computers) to a concrete level underneath. The weather is fine, making it a great battle area for flying types. Weather: Partly cloudy, 79F.*

Ice Arena: The Arctic
Something that Fushigidane created, this arena will test Pokemon in the bitter chill of the arctic night. A raging snowstorm is created by the computer, as the field is pure ice over a 20ft deep pool. The ice is very thick, making it difficult to break. Visibility is low, and any non-ice Pokemon will certainly not feel welcome. Weather: Dusk, Blizzard conditions, -10F.

Poison Arena: Soonansu no Uchi
The arena becomes something similar to a waste disposal facility, as it turns into a swamp, filled with horrid smelling substances. There are some weeds around, but the sludge is quite deep, although there are some patches of dirt to get on. The smell is noxious, although poison types, and Wobbuffet will love it. Weather: Partly Cloudy, 65F.

Grass Arena: Flower Meadow
A lush garden filled with grass and various types of flowers. The grass is low cut, and the flowers surround the main battle area. Weather: Sunny, Midday, 72F.

Dragon Arena: Mist Cave
Another underground arena, this cave has much more water than the Ground arena, and with good cause. The cave is 3 stories tall, giving all Pokemon enough room to move around. A light mist fills the arena, as there is a large underground lake next to the rocks and dirt. It is cool down there, and there's enough light for anything to see. Weather: 50F, slightly hazy.

Steel Arena: Steel Box
A completely enclosed space, the Steel Box should be an interesting facility. Made with 10ft thick steel, it is unbreakable. The dimensions of the arena are 1/4 mile high, 500ft long and 500ft wide. The box is temperature controlled thanks to the computer. Weather: 72F.

Bug Arena: Greenhouse
An indoor arena, the greenhouse is filled with different grasses, flowers, trees and Pokemon who reside here. Sprinklers constantly spray water everywhere, making the arena cool and moist. A grass floor makes this the optimal battlefield for bug types. There is a 50x50ft patch of grass where the main battles take place, although they most certainly will spill over to the surrounding areas. Weather: Sunny, 60F.

-------------------*

Battle Rules: The battle rules will be completely unlike any battle style or gym style in the league. The match will be individual 1 on 1 matches. The first trainer to gain a 2 match advantage wins. If no trainer is ahead by two after 4 matches, one of the 2 remaining types is selected, and the match is sudden death with that one type.*

All battles will take place on the appropriate battlefield, the Layer changing after each 1 on 1 match to reflect the current type battling.*

All matches are equi-level.*

Battles begin this way:*

Challenger will post a link to an up-to-date listing of their squad. They will then select three types along with three Pokemon with their respective type they shall stand for. This means that dual-type Pokemon may only be used to represent one type, so choose wisely.

The Gym Leader will then select three other types, as long as the trainer has enough Pokemon to cover each selected type separately. The challenger will then select a Pokemon to represent each type.*

The challenger will then select the first type and send out first. The Gym Leader will then attack first.*

Whoever loses the previous 1 on 1 matchup will select the next type to battle, with the previous winner attacking first.

Additional Rules: The following rules are in effect for all Gym Matches taking place in this arena:

No Legendaries
No Type Changes
No Signature Moves, Abilities, et al.

"Mozz Rules" are in effect, meaning extra emphasis is placed on Pokemon intelligence, dodging ability and energy restrictions. In exchange for dealing with a harsh reffing environment, referees will be given the following bonus opportunity:

If all reffings are completed within 48 hours, with 2 exceptions lasting up to 96 hours, they will receive 1.5x the standard SP for a gym match.
“That's right, read that stuff. Now then, over to the three Pokemon from challenger, TBH, if you will. This should be interesting.”

You may only use each pokemon for one type. And you have no other electric. So no.

For some reason I thought Poliwag learned electric moves.
XD

But anyway, Gabe, use Confuse Ray then MC Shadow Ball.

Why I originally ordered FC in this gym I'll never know.

Round One

“Gooood evening, and welcome to the Angelic Layer, the gym arena now used by both Mozz an his Gym Trainer Concept. Today, we'll be bearing witness to the latter, the second challenger in recent times being known as TBH1313, a trainer I believe I faced briefly before in a rapid fire. The last time I faced Concept in a battle, well, I need a re-match, for certain. Now then, without further delay, let's head straight onto the first round. Exciting stuff. Huzzah!”

Suddenly, the arena shifted and changed in front of the combatants and ref's eyes, the technological light suddenly dimming completely. What happens next, Handy can't be certain, but he assumes it involves both Concept and TBH reaching down and gripping their pokeballs. From there, he assumes that they fling both of these pokeballs up into he air, apparently releasing the shape of a pair of ghostly Pokemon, one of them being a Level 3 Male Gaslty, the other being a Level 3 Male Gaslty and a Level 3 Male Haunter. Finally, Handy clicked on his infra-red glasses, and realised his predictions were completely accurate. Perfect.

“Right then. Sergeant Pepper starts us off by letting off a rather loud scream, though surprisingly in tune. The wave of sound energy washes over Gabe for some decent damage, but not too much of a worry. In retaliation, Gabe launches out a confusing ray at the opposing Haunter, sending him into a bit of a daze. The poor old ghostly battler. Now, with Haunter confused, the RNG decides not to let Pepper turn invisible, so a Mid-Charged Shadow ball collides into him, even with super intelligence, due to generally not knowing what's going on. He's currently gaseous, however, so the shadow ball deals only a certain bit extra damage. Still not a nice hit for the ghost type to take, though confusion is gone.”

“Over to the statstics, I go.”

Cerberus: “I'll be updating for the challenger, as Handy seems to recall him showing an interest in dark types. Health is heading to a decent bit off perfect, which is a completely different dynamic in mozz health. Energy closer to three quarters already.”

HECK YEAH: “I'll be using my AWESOME power to ref for CONCEPT! Health is UNDER HALF and CLOSE TO A QUARTER! Energy was PRETTY MUCH UNTOUCHED.”

“Thanks guys, TBH?”

Taunt him out of invisibility, then psychic. If it hit him full on, dark pulse.

Might be three.

Round Two

“Good evening. Due to the fact I have a pause in my viewing of Avatar: The Last Airbender (Stupid Megavideo), I am here to perform another reffing in this prestigious gym trainer match. From the orders given, this match sure looks as if it's going to be explosive, but not yet in the wait until it's done attacking style manner. Now then, without further delay, the second round shall begin!”

“The round starts with Gastly attempting to go invisible. Haunter, however, has something entirely different to say;”

Suddenly, a group of eggs rolls into the arena besides Handy, loudly proclaim “You smell! Bad!” and roll away. The confused expression of the cameraman afterwards is quite an amusing one.

“Um, well, I swear I dropped that Exeggcute, but that's besides the point. Gastly no longer turns invisible; he wants the opponent to see his full and angry anger! Taking advantage of the opportunity, Haunter blasts forwards a psychic wave, which collides into the opposing ghost type for some significant damage. Furthermore, a dark pulse is launched by Haunter flying forwards. The anger of taunt is not enough to make any sane Pokemon stand in the way of a super effective attack like that, and Gastly...is still hit by the attack. I gave it a much higher dodge margain than I usually would, and it just didn't cut it. I'm uncertain as far as mozzrules work, mind. If anyone could give me their opinion on taunt's effect in mozzrules, that would be appreciated quite a bit. For now, however, the result is this:”

Gabe is unable to battle!

And that means we await the challengers choice of match up.

I'm also unsure on taunts effectiveness in Mozzrules, so if tbh wants to ask Mozz that's cool as idk.

I just don't think that in a gym that focuses on a Pokemon's intelligence, a 'mon would stop his orders because he was angry, and then do nothing.

tl;dr: Yeah, lets ask Mozz.

Round the Third

“Avast me mateys. It appears that the next match-up be perfect for Talk Like a Pirate day. Yarr har fiddle-de and all that stuff. Onwards we shall go, set sail for the third round of this interesting conflict!”

The arena suddenly shifts and changes, the night of the graveyard being left behind as the arena suddenly floods with water, an area known as the Pond arriving. The height of the water is roughly 50ft, and the ground seemed to be covered with sand and various shelled Pokemon. In the midst of the deep ocean, Mantine and Remoraid slowly moved through the currents, though none of them would be affecting the match today. With the arena safely shifted, it appears that both Handy and his Houndoom now spouted breathing apparatus, whereas Goldeen seemed perfectly content with the arena change. And with that, Handy began to speak once more.

“I don't know enough pirate terminology to keep this up, so though I may occasionally Arrr or things of the sort, I certainly will not keep my speech as such. The challenger certainly has made a bold move to go for this conflict, not only battling the want to be water gym leader, but also doing so with a Poliwag! Having just lost mine to a battle against S_M, I know how limited their movepools are when dealing with other aquatics. The Level 3 Female Gyarados and Level 3 Male Poliwag seem to be sizing each other up. Though size isn't everything. Let's see how this turns out. Perhaps the challenger will pull off a miracle and head into another match up. We'll see.”

“The round starts with Monarch bringing her tail round and colliding it into Tsunami, dealing a good hit to the water type, who is smacked backwards a bit. Then, the Poliwag swims up and gets eye contact with Gyarados, slowly letting hypnotic waves collides into the water types eyes. Before she falls asleep, however, she manages to bite down into the Poliwag, before releasing her clench as she falls into the land of sleep, Poliwag having sustained another good hit. And to finish off the round, Poliwag slams himself with his tail, going into a battle frenzy, buffing himself up extremely, but now leaving himself open to any and all attacks. His opponent is asleep, however, so that's a non issue for now.”

“Right-o, over to the statistics we shall go.”

HECK YEAH: “Monarch took NO DAMAGE. Energy was VERY good.”

Cerberus: “Tsunami took two good hits, a fair ways into the second quarter. Energy was good.”

“Over to orders from TBH.”

Oh crap. This is most definitely not going well.

Double Edge, then... Poliwag's lack of Physical attacks makes me wonder why I used Belly Drum. Double Edge once again.

Good match, Cept.

Round Three

“Lawl. Seriously. Concept certainly has a creative method of battling. Unsure how to ref this, as I've never seen anything of the sort done before, so I think that this will do. If you strongly believe differently, get LO approval and I'll change it, but for now, this is what shall happen.”

“The round starts off with Poliwag rushing forwards in an attempt to double edge. It works, dealing a fairly high hit, though due to the hardness of a Gyarados, and general scales and such, there's some moderate recoil damage dealt to the water type, who then wakes up, not looking too happy. Then, unfortunately for the water type, it gets caught in the eyes of the Monarch, the female Pokemon grinning as the Poliwag is paralysed, picking the tiny creature up. Whilst the Leer is fairly redundant due to the belly drum making Poliwag not want to dodge, it still happens. Eating a Pokemon is not plausible. As such, Monarch seems to think that a bite attack would be better. She bites down into the same spot that she did before. This leaves a bit of a hole in the Poliwag. That's unfortunate. And it seems that Gyarados' tooth is now quite lodged into the Poliwag, and due to Gyarados' orders, she decides to keep it lodged there, as she's uncertain as to what to do next.”

“Over to the statistics. That was fun.”

HECK YEAH: “Monarch took MASSIVE DAMAGE, already past half from that attack. Energy was GOOD.”

Cerberus: “Tsunami's health is now in the final quarter. Energy was good, again.”

“Concept?”

Chew!

By which I mean more bitey bitey.

I don't care if this means I somehow lose the water match up, it's too much fun to pass up. Asking Jeri about the whole eating thing, we should probably hold off til he replies.
