I don't see that happening as it falls under "bringing an item to the battle". However, I don't have a big problem with possessing stuff that is around the arena anyway. That should probably be OK but I don't know if the other LOs would agree.

That's the other reason it put it here. I figured the LOs would have a more thought out opinion than a bunch of us rambling in the TO.

Disagreeing with Kuno, since that's essentially what Rotom does anyway. It brings an 'item' to battle. I think if you were intelligent about it, picking an appropriate item that wasn't hugely broken, and gave it appropriate drawbacks, you should be fine. A jackhammer isn't the worst idea ever but you'd have to carefully write it to avoid realistic abuse. As you say, a monster truck isn't happening, but I think if you made it something like already exists you could be ok. Speak to those who approve sigs, though.

The problem with situational cases goes both ways; arguably, there's no reason to disallow it, but since it doesn't turn up so often to the point it warrants concern, there's no reason to allow it, either.

Personally, I'm fine with the possession, though I'm less comfortable with the part about gaining a relevant type based on the possessed object. The jackhammer example could very well be used for Rock or Steel since jackhammers can break both, and there's still the issue of what attack to give (a la Overheat, etc). Unless there's guidelines, you'd leave a lot up to ref discretion (though I'm under the impression most people consider that a good thing).

This has come up a lot, especially at the start of the league. Gen 1 has a ton of Pokemon with items, and changing them has all been since disallowed. This includes any farfetch'd adjustments, cubone adjustments, and even Alakazam with a knife instead of a spoon etc. Sorry this is something that has been argued a lot, and even if you have an item it doesn't mean you can change it to something, even if it is logically similar.

I know the policy, and I accept its need. I just think its lazy.

Saying no to this as the potential variations for it could be pretty wide and not sanely coverable for all situations. You could potentially sig it but I really doubt that'd ever pass.

It's -much- simpler that way. Having to figure out reasonable typings and moves and abilities for every conceivable possessable machine seems ridiculous.

>its lazy.

It's not as much laziness as much as it bites the "but if he has it why can't I" in the bud.

Trust me, if we started allowing items, it wouldn't be long before we were run down with knives and machine guns and tractors and shit. Sig approval is already hairy enough as it is.
