Attack Description Issues

The following moves have been mentioned as being different in the anime (or in need of a tweak or two), and thus in need of a rewrite.

Ancientpower

Aqua Jet

Baton Pass

Block

Bone Rush

Brave Bird

Camouflage

Charm

Confuse Ray

Defog

Double Team

Flash Cannon

Giga Impact

Gyro Ball

Hidden Power

Hydro Cannon

Lovely Kiss

Refresh

Rock Wrecker

Rock Blast

Shadow Punch

Spark

Stone Edge

Sucker Punch

Surf- Will not have summoning water from nowhere. Screw the anime on this one.

Are there more? Are there other moves that are causing you to break out in hives as they work now? I won't know unless you tell me.

Rock Tomb was shown to work how it does now in the Roxanne episode. It's a much better interpretation of the move.

Megahorn, being XX with Bug Energy...?

Same what Dig I think, has the (GD) but doesn't really appear to deal Ground damage. I dunno

Flamethrower is higher than Hyper Beam on the Damage Scale. (Actually, in my highly personal opinion the damage scale is rather strange as of now)

The damage scale is, truth be said, stupid. Also Megahorn was a typo.

A typo which isn't fixed, then.

Also, some good Ground attack would be cool I think.

I think Rock Tomb is getting slightly readjusted, the LOs already discussed that move.

This is why you will never be a ref.

The damage scale is good, it's the damage terms in the attacks left over from Mozz's iteration that are the issues.

That's basically what I meant. The damage scale is stupid compared to the terms used in the attack descriptions.

No specific moves come to mind, but a lot of moves are missing damage or energy altogether. Ref's discretion can only be expected to go so far. I usually end up using the games damage as a guide unless clearly contradicted (eg I've seen you say that gunk shot is around two clicks weaker than hydro pump before, which it isn't in the games). This obviously doesn't work for non-direct damaging moves, for example toxic, sandstorm, reflect, perish song, mimic etc etc.

The anime shows Ancient Power on both Mamoswine and Yanmega. They glow white and a large white ball appears in front of them, before the user launches the ball at the opponent.

change to physical. Basically Volt Tackle that's faster but less powerful.

If they're on the list, I don't need to be told to change them. Thanks for the mentions anyway though, guys.

Oh I thought you meant re-write the descriptions for you X_X

Edit: Whirlpool's one could use a rewrite to include the version that doesn't require water as an external source.

Astonish is shown a bit differently. Chimecho warps his face and screams at his opponent to scare them, then energy comes out and hits his foe. It's more of a surprise startle than a surprise hit.

Brine has also been shown differently. It is always depicted as another Water Gun type attack. But to differentiate it from Water Gun, we can use the definition, which states Brine is water with salinity of over 50 parts per thousand, which is like almost double seawater (~25-35 ppt), which explains the higher damage as the salt content would agitate wounds.

Also, Acid Armor isn't exactly inaccurate, but the English translation was awful and confuses how the description should be. The original Japanese name was Liquify, which makes more sense. The Pokemon changes their molecular structure to a liquid. As liquids have no bones to break, it's defense is greater. This makes Water Pokemon turn into Water, Slugma/Magcargo turn into Lava, and Grimer/Muk turn into slime.

Aerial Ace's type has been a peeve of mine.

Also clarification on damage by the elemental punches would be good. Also Thunderbolt and Flamethrower's damages don't match, though I'd imagine they should both be "fairly high."

Do they have bones? They are pretty much slime already I'd say

Don't forget it's also harder to inflict damage on a puddle.

And I'm pretty sure that Acid Armors effect has been changed, Loki, just not put up on the site. At least, that's what I was told when I inquired about it.

EDIT: Also, on the note of Surf, I have some input. In the episode where Drew's Absol used Surf the 'water' glowed quite profusely, leading me to believe it was, in fact, water energy. Maybe surf can be used outside of water, but takes up a MASSIVE amount of energy and water energy to do so?

In one of the few times I've seen the anime recently, Dawn or whoever's Piplup used Whirlpool by just sending out water in a spiral. This may have been in a contest, though, so don't quote me on it.

The simple fact that you can't break anything while you're a liquid, as breaking only happens to solids, means your defense is greater, or rather your ability to take damage is considerably less.

It's merely the "Acid coating" thing that is retarded. If I went on Nickelodeon and got a total body sliming, I'm fairly sure if anyone attacked me, my bones would just as easily break.

Grass Knot works just how it does in the Anime.

>Drew's Absol used Surf

Watch it again. That was Water Pulse and has already been accounted for.

>Megahorn, being XX with Bug Energy...?

Noted and will be changed.

My mention of Grass Knot is that the description is vague and some refs have not been allowing the moves versatility.

Though that's not within the scope of the thread, it'll be taken into consideration.

Personally, I think that kind of thing should be but for now Nick wants the anime contradictions to be priority. Let's try to focus on that.

Also I'll say it again: The attacks listed in the first post have already been accounted for and their appearance in the anime has been noted and will be adjusted to it. We need attacks NOT listed there, so we can get to those too.

Whoops. I'll wait until I'm home before I load up my database then.
