The Metagross one is probably kosher. My only problem with it is that it's been patched out.

As for appearing on the official site, that's not swaying me. It was something that wasn't in any final version of the games. It's why I don't like the Gardevoir or Lapras ones.

I obviously don't have final sway, but that's my two cents and it's something I'll stick to.

Ice Beam Metagross was already rejected because it was a mistake when they were released teams for the PWT. The move was meant to be Ice Punch, not Ice Beam, and they fixed their error when they patched it. It's not really like Earthquake Lanturn. I say its perfectly fine to skip over.

EDIT: Also I don't think trailers and teaser photos should count, especially when the ones for Ice Punch Blaziken were taken down and apologized for. None of this stuff ended up in the game, so its not a game error.

I'm perfectly aware of the error moves and I check them occasionally to update them. The ones on the list are the kosher ones. Thanks!

Magikarp gets Celebrate and Happy Hour via Event. Not really useful on the Karp, but who knows?

A happy medium would be limiting event Smeargle moves to non damaging moves and normal typed damaging moves only

Not... really? It's a really arbitrary line.

When I first read within the thread that Smeargle event moves were allowed, I figured it would cause trouble down the road if more relevant moves were added to the pile. We are in dangerous territory with this particular situation, because they are not error moves or event moves per say; Smeargle obtained those moves via natural means of Sketch. It is almost a misnomer to label them as event moves. I might be voting against my self interest, but the balance of ASB comes first.

If you think a Normal-type getting Flamethrower is dangerous territory, but Pikachu having hordes of moves given by event (not even getting into the Cosplay thing) isn't, there may be a problem.

And no, it very much did get these moves by event. There was an event, it included this Smeargle, it knew these moves. That's pretty much the definition of having a move via event.

Not necessarily the definition that I have in mind of event moves. Remember that all of the moves Pikachu has listed he cannot obtain by other means within the game. Since Smeargle can legally obtain all moves, anything listed within the events category is just an extension of his attack sketch. Those are my two cents on the topic, but we should probably allow Jeri to have the final say in this case.

Sidebar for Slash: Please don't take it personal, this affects me too!

I already got a talking-to from Muyo last time I tried to strike down event moves for Smeargle so I'm not going to be stopping them now, even if I greatly dislike them.

Jeri not to put too fine a point on it but who cares about Muyo? It's your ASB, his opinion is kind of irrelevant.

Sorry Muyo!

Yeah I know but he had a good point about keeping it consistent and making a singular exception for Smeargle would just make people mad.

We make singular exceptions for things all the time in way more questionable circumstances. But it's your call. I have no strong feelings on the matter.

Anime Error Moves that I overlooked

Shiftry: Stun Spore
Aerodactyl: Gust
Nidoran M: Bite
Pikachu: Leer
Pidgey: Peck
Pupitar: Take Down
Tyrogue: Jump Kick
Dragonair: Flash

Japanese anime error: Same link
Tranquill: Wing Attack Already included, which makes the below moves kosher.

Dub only: Same Link
Vulpix: Agility
Totodile: Skull Bash
Steelix: Bite

A bunch of things get tackle, but I'm not sure if we even bother with that attack
Beedrill, Charmander, Victreebel, Lickitung, Arbok, Nidoran M, Charizard, Pikachu, Wooper, Totodile, Poliwhirl.

--

Sensible solution for flying pikachu: Make it work like Bounce? Pikachu "Flies into the air by using his tail as a spring or jumping high enough, gaining sufficient height to dodge/strike a la bounce" No more banned future reference moves as a consequence.

So some time ago I noticed Ledyba used Stun Spore in an anime episode, a move that it doesn't get. Here is the summary of that episode on Bulbapedia. It is mentioned in the sixth paragraph under "Plot". I hope that this is enough evidence.
