UPN PASBL: Shadowshocker vs. Joshua (Rapid Fire)

Welcome back to the pre-re-re-re-opening match of the UPN PASBL. This should be a quickie and a half, as Shadowshocker and Joshua go head to head in less-than-Mortal-Kombat.
Specs you say?
1 v 1
10 minute DQ
Slapstick
Equiall (2).

The arena: Rock (Outdoor): The arena is covered by boulders of varying shapes and sizes. Exactly what is there is up to everyone's imagination. If someone says a rock is there (or isn't there), it's there as long as it doesn't contradict something someone has already said.
Special Rule: Boulders

PM Pokes and attacks boys, and let's get rolling.

It does seem, however, that his experience in the air during difficult conditions has exposed him to something, and evolved a new technique…
Special Attack: Chaos Feather (????)
Zephyr charges energy to his wings, and flaps towards his opponent, summoning a small burst of energy that does damage equal to a Water Gun, and uses energy equal to 1.1x a Steel Wing. Its type, however, is random, as it can draw on any form of energy that he can use. This technique is restricted to two uses per battle.

Let's try an Aerial Ace to begin with Zephyr, then gamble with a Chaos Feather!

After some training involving squeezing bars of various materials from wood to metal, he managed to improve his Wrapping abilities into something more powerful and potentially deadly. Signature Move: Death Coil
For every round that a Pokemon is under Huggo's Wrap, the Pokemon has a 5-15% chance (depending on its size) of becoming breathless during a round immediately after it is released and thus unable to use powerful attacks such as Hyper Beam. (For example, if a Pokemon is wrapped for 2 turns, the breathlessness applies for 2 rounds afterwards.) This doesn't apply for Pokemon bigger than Huggo, or Pokemon with indeterminate bodies (such as Muk and Banette), or Pokemon with tough bodies (such as Aron and Geodude).

Activate, lightshow.

"Let's do this, Huggo! If the opponent is airborne, use Glare, otherwise use Fissure! Then follow up with Stockpile!"
Our battlers arrive at the rocky outcrop, and with little wasted time (as would befit a RF match) we have our pokemon. SS will be going with Ekans, while Joshua is banking on Pidgeotto for this one. A matchup straight out of the extremely early Pokemon anime gets underway, as Zephyr circles Huggo, while the poisonous predator tries to transfix his airborne assailant in a nasty Glare. However, Huggo's glare turns to an astonished look as Zephyr disappears in midair, only to reappear right behind Huggo, slamming into the serpent and sending him skidding into soil. Huggo then begins to glow, storing up energy for future evil intentions, while Zephyr raises back up into the sky, sending a shimmering stream of energy down into Huggo below. Nasty effects ensue as it feels Huggo is pelted by a steel rain, dealing moderate damage. Both our battlers are just getting started, but while Huggo has taken a few shots, Zephyr remains unscathed. It's too early to properly gauge fatigue, but Zephyr has been expending more than Huggo in the early going, where it goes from here is anyone's guess.

Joshua attacks first.

Re: UPN PASBL: Shadowshocker vs. Joshua (Rapid Fire)

Zephyr is proving to be a master of invisibility, as once again he disappears, driving into Huggo's head, knocking Ekans back to the ground. However, Huggo's eyes slyly open, and his body springs up and around Zephyr before the bird can bolt, clasping it in his crushing grip, causing him to emit a cry. Huggo keeps the huggin' alive for a brief moment before being blasted in the face area with a Zephyr's secretive power, causing Huggo's coils to loosen just enough for Zephyr to squirm free. However, Huggo again exhibits a rapid recovery, sinking his fangs into Zephyr's leg, dealing good damage. The round ends with Zephyr and Huggo still in close proximity, both pokemon took quite a lot of damage this round, using an equivalent amount of energy. Still anyone's ballgame, so let's keep the ball rolling.

Don't give him a chance either way. Aerial Ace, straight to the face! Then back off and take to the skies again!

Re: UPN PASBL: Shadowshocker vs. Joshua (Rapid Fire)

Huggo slams his tail into the ground, causing a veritable sediment storm to get kicked up, flying straight towards Zephyr. Zephyr starts his Aerial Ace, but is unable to elude every rock, getting smacked in the gut with a sizable rock for a sizable amount of damage, but still manages to keep his composure, again disappearing from view, reappearing to smack into Huggo, driving his head back into the ground before rising about twenty feet up into the air, taking a sharpeyed survey of the battlefield below. Zephyr came off the worse that round, but still has a decent lead in health, though his breathing is becoming short. It's still anyone's match, let's see how it goes from here.

Strike up a Whirlwind, but don't make eye contact. This may be a no-Flash zone, but eye contact still not good. Then slice ze serpent to ribbons with your Air Cutter!

Re: UPN PASBL: Shadowshocker vs. Joshua (Rapid Fire)

Zephyr lets loose a gale of winds with a few flaps of his wings sending Huggo skidding across the arena into a sizable boulder, the impact doing a sizable amount of damage to ze serpent. However, as Zephyr begins raining down razors, Huggo recovers enough to dive under the dirt, avoiding any ill effects. Zephyr studies the ground below again, but is still startled as Huggo bursts forth, blasting a barrage of bubbles into the broadside of the birdy battler, dealing another sizable amount of damage. Another fairly even round this time, but Huggo is still looking worse for wear, while Zephyr is breathing harder and harder. How much more either pokemon can take is up in the air. This one could be ending in a flash depending on how the next round or two play out.

Aerial Ace, ASAP, but loop around to avoid his attack and strike from behind. Then don't let him Dig, strike with Steel Wing!

Re: UPN PASBL: Shadowshocker vs. Joshua (Rapid Fire)

Huggo begins to hack and takes his aim at Zephyr, who again begins to circle the battlefield, but Huggo has the course memorized by the repeated use of the move and is able to Spit Up straight into Zephyr's underbelly, dealing good damage, but not enough to drive the determined Zephyr from his course, disappearing again. Huggo knows the score now, but before he can dig back underground, Zephyr drives into the startled snake, doing decent damage again. Both our battlers are slow to follow up, getting well exhausted by this stage, however Huggo recovers just enough to get underground before Zephyr can recover. The round ends with Zephyr unable to pull off his second strike as Huggo is in no hurry to resurface. Both pokemon took another hard shot, though Huggo came off the better this round. Every blow hurts more and more for each though, as next round could spell the end for one of our battlers. Still too tight to call, stay tuned!

Re: UPN PASBL: Shadowshocker vs. Joshua (Rapid Fire)

Zephyr settles down onto the ground and spreads out... in more ways than one as the birdy battler divides himself into five separate Zephyr, sufficiently spread out. At this moment, Huggo emerges, and is again faced with an optical illusion. Sufficiently sussed at this spectacle, Huggo slams his tail down into the earth again, kicking up several of the surrounding rocks, sending them sliding towards the slew of Zephyr. One of the baseball sized rocks does manage to smack the true Zephyr in the foot, and the illusory images disappear, but the majority of the slide passed the original by. Huggo grins and glows with an eerie green light, siphoning a small portion of Zephyr's remaining energy off for itself, but doesn't have the energy or the knowhow to use it to it's optimum effectiveness, a small comfort to Zephyr though, as the already exhausted bird is sapped further. Both Pokemon are just about shot energy wise, if either of them can gain the upper hand in the next round, it's likely to be the end.

End this, Zephyr. FRUSTRATION!

And although Huggo shouldn't still be standing after you beat him black and blue, use a Swift if you need. Don't exhaust yourself though.

Re: UPN PASBL: Shadowshocker vs. Joshua (Rapid Fire)

Huggo again goes green (Al Gore would be proud) as he again starts siphoning off energy from Zephyr, however this is more than the bird can bear, sounding a war screech and flying forward, the drain worsening as he gets closer, but he manages to keep his rage intact, unloading all of his angst upon Huggo, raining blows with wing and beak upon the serpent. As the rage subsides, Zephyr is left panting in front of Huggo, as the snake struggles to straighten up... only to collapse, his head falling forward into Zephyr, knocking him onto his back. Huggo is out cold, but can Zephyr manage to get to his feet to beat the count? Rolling slowly back onto his front, Zephyr slowly raises his head up... but can't get it done, and his head falls back down to the ground.

*raises flags* Both pokemon are unable to battle! The match is an incredibly anticlimactic draw!
