Can't speak for Smash but "fighters are fighters" and my experience with Dead or Alive: Dimensions was that the controls were surprisingly good yet comfort left a lot to be desired. This could just be a 2DS problem though. The way I have to hold the 2DS is very unnatural and it sometimes digs into my palms rather painfully. The 3DS seems like it would be a more comfortable experience for me though still not as good as a proper controller.
I imagine that comfort while playing SSB4 is going to be something that varies from person to person.

Arghh I hate to be that guy but...
I am super desperate to play the demo, literally all of my friends and girlfriend have it and I feel so left out... Does anyone happen to have a spare code? I would love you forever. Hell, I'd even give you one of my shiny Pokemon (I have several) if I needed to... ;_;

So I got a code.
It was for EU only. Just my luck. Guessing no one here in the PAL has an NA code to trade? |

Sorry, I have a bunch of IRL friends that have been dying to get demos.
But yeah, oh my gosh this feels great. Although, ironically enough, I feel like I'm having the issue of Smashing when I want to tilt. Literally never happened to me before in a Smash game. This really sucks because ahaha Mario up tilt combos. |

Funny that, because I got sent an AUS code by PG which wouldn't work for me.

I have a few extra codes that I've promised to IRL friends. If any of them turn them down I'll bring them here for first-come-first-served.

Well, this is actually my first time playing a Smash game (I didn't have an N64, GC, or Wii back then and I didn't know anyone who had the game :c ) and I gotta say, I love it! It's actually easy for me to pick up the controls and it plays nicely for me.
Oh Sneeze, you might want to specify if they're US, EU or AU. The codes are region exclusive. |

A public demo will be available in under a week. You can open it thirty times. The game comes out October 3. This means you can play the public demo once a day most days, twice a day some. Relax. I think you guys are going to be fine. It's just a demo, after all.

Well given that I live in the US I felt I really didn't need to include that part.

Yeah, the demo is also super limited. I get why you want to play, but I honestly don't think having an unlimited demo is going to be super important.

It's also made of bugs if you try local mode and lags so hard I actually managed to watch several of Villager's animations frame by frame and now know exactly when they strike.

Apparently there's a rumor floating around saying that Smash WiiU will be released November 21st, the same day as ORAS. Hopefully it's real, because I doubt we'd be getting it any sooner than that.

Nintendo will not release both games in the same week, much less on the same day. I can't speak for Smash Bros., but the fact that they're releasing a playable demo for ORAS broadcasts that the company is not confident in ORAS's sales figures. This suggests that they will be taking special pains to not harm those sales. Releasing a must-have Nintendo game like SSB4 would do precisely that.
Given that they have yet to promise anything more concrete than "Q4 2014," and given that the fandom well understands that quarterly projections are frequently subject to delays, and finally given that everyone seemed to be incredibly disappointed in the absence of specific characters from the Smash Bros. roster ... I would not be surprised in the slightest should Nintendo decide to delay the Wii U version's release until December or possibly even early 2015. The latter would be less desirable since it translates to lost Christmas sales and weaker sales in the new year, but the former is perfectly fine. Gives them time to try and add some last-minute characters during the next two months and still release the game before Christmas. But if they do decide to release it in November, fine -- it still won't be the same week as ORAS. If it is, then they're placing the Smash Bros. cart before the Pokémon horse.

I don't know that it does broadcast that. Don't Pokémon's sales figures keep going up and up?

I didn't say, "Talon thinks the game is going to sell poorly." I said that demos are normally not released for blockbuster franchises' biggest titles unless there is a need to drum up hype amongst the hardcore (not the case here) or there is a need to convince casuals to purchase what would otherwise have been a skipped-over title (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh). The very fact that the demo exists suggests not that people will skip over it but that Nintendo worries they will. Probably reflected in early market polling. *shrug*

It's been proven time and time again that unless you plan to slay your competition, releasing at the same time is pretty much a suicide move. And when you're competing with yourself, it's double suicide. Both games would have their sales figures cut from optimal and marketing departments will see the games as "launch failures" even if both games are relatively successful overall and Nintendo bagged all the cash. In a world where board rooms and corporate big wigs look at sales analysis and numbers to determine success and failure, this can easily become the biggest mistake a company could make.
